A Russian-aligned propaganda network notorious for creating deepfake whistleblower videos appears to be behind a coordinated effort to promote wild and baseless claims that Minnesota governor and vice presidential candidate Tim Walz sexually assaulted one of his former students, according to several specialists tracking the disinformation campaign.
Experts believe that the campaign is tied to a network called Storm-1516, which has been linked to, among other things, a previous effort that falsely claimed vice president Kamala Harris perpetrated a hit-and-run in San Francisco in 2011. Storm-1516 has a long history of posting fake whistleblower videos, and often deepfake videos, to push Kremlin talking points to the West.
The propaganda unitâs work has successfully reached the highest levels of the Republican party, with vice presidential candidate JD Vance repeating at least one of their narratives. NBC reported this week that the group has pushed at least 50 false narratives in this manner since last fall, which comes amid a broader Russian government effort to disrupt next monthâs election with the aim of helping former president Donald Trump return to the White House.
Numerous figures in MAGA world boosted the Tim Walz assault claims, including Jack Posobiec, the Pizzagate promoter who is now a member of Trumpâs campaign team, and Candace Owens, the popular right-wing podcaster. The claims went viral on X last week, when an anonymous account called Black Insurrectionist posted screenshots of emails from a purported victim. Other X users quickly debunked the claims, citing formatting errors in the images that suggested the emails were fake, but days later another conspiracist posted a video on X claiming he had spoken to one of Walz's supposed victims on the phoneâwithout providing any proof. The video racked up millions of hits.
Then, on Wednesday, a video claiming to show a former student of Walz describing abuse by the former football coach spread widely on X. According to a WIRED analysis using several deepfake detector tools, the video was created using AI. The video, shared by a prominent anonymous QAnon-promoting account, garnered over 4.3 million views before it was deleted.
The campaign to attack Walz predates the video; it traces back to John Dougan, a former Florida cop who now lives in Moscow and runs a network of pro-Kremlin websites. Dougan appeared on Zak Paineâs QAnon show RedPill78 on October 5 with an anonymous man named âRick,â who said he was a foreign exchange student at Mankato West High School in 2004 when Walz was a teacher there. âRickâ then claimed Walz assaulted him. Dougan did not respond to a request for comment.
The claims, however, didnât go viral until last week and the release of the deepfake video.
Darren Linvill, codirector at Clemson Universityâs Media Forensics Hub, tells WIRED that he immediately recognized this tactic as part of Russiaâs well-established disinformation playbook.
âThere is little doubt this is Storm-1516,â says Linvill, whose team uncovered the network last fall.
Linvill says the account that first shared the AI-altered video bears all the hallmarks of previous Storm-1516 campaigns. âIt is standard for them to create an X or YouTube account for initial placement of stories,â says Linvill.
The campaign orchestrated by Storm-1516 often begins with the posting of a fake story and video from a whistleblower or citizen journalist, the US mission to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe outlined in July. Disinformation is âamplified by other seemingly unaffiliated online networks,â the US mission stated. The claims then take on a life of their own, shared and reposted by unwitting social media users who likely have no idea of where the videos originated.
The fake stories can also be picked up by other media outlets that cover viral social media stories. In the case of the Walz claims, they ended up on MSN, a news aggregation site owned by Microsoft.
In the past, Storm-1516 has relied on a network of fake news websites run by Dougan to push its narratives. On Saturday, a story that referenced the RedPill78 interview, the Black Insurrectionist posts, and the deepfake video was published on over 100 of Douganâs websites simultaneously.
This was first discovered by Alex Liberty, a researcher who tracks the activity of Russiaâs propaganda networks and who agrees with Linvillâs assertion that the deepfake video bears all the hallmarks of a Storm-1516 campaign.
âWe believe that it might be a coordinated campaign in [an] attempt to bring numerous false accusations of the same nature against Tim Walz through different channels and in different formats in order to bring an image of legitimacy to the narrative,â Liberty tells WIRED.
McKenzie Sadeghi, the AI and foreign influence editor at NewsGuard, agrees.
âThe false narrative appears to be part of a wider campaign pushed by pro-Kremlin media and QAnon influencers ahead of the November 5, 2024, US elections aimed at portraying Walz, whose political appeal is as an everyman schoolteacher and coach, as a pedophile who had inappropriate relationships with minors,â Sadeghi wrote in an analysis of the deepfake video.
From the very beginning, the allegations against Walz were easily debunked. In his interview on the RedPill78 QAnon show, Douganâs source claimed he was in the US thanks to the State Departmentâfunded Future Leaders Exchange program, which allows students from countries formerly under the control of the Soviet Union the chance to study in the US for a year.
However, a spokesperson for the US State Department, told NewsGuard that it has no record of any Future Leaders Exchange student from Kazakhstan in Mankato area schools from 2000 through 2020. Mankato Area Public Schools communications director Mel Helling told NewsGuard the allegations were âoutlandish.â
The baseless claims were shared by some far-right accounts in the days after the episode was published, but they didnât really take hold until a week later, when the X account known as Black Insurrectionist posted a clip from Douganâs RedPill78 episode. The clip was viewed over 800,000 times.
Google search trends data shows a huge spike in people searching for âTim Walz pedophileâ and âTim Walz abuseâ on October 13, the day the Black Insurrectionist account began posting their claims.
The Black Insurrectionist account is anonymous and launched a year ago; its followers include Donald Trump Jr. and former Trump adviser Roger Stone. The accountâs bio reads: âI am MAGA.â It rose to prominence weeks before the Walz post, when it claimed to have been in contact with a whistleblower at ABC who said Harris had been provided with the questions ahead of her September debate with former president Donald Trump. Those claims were widely debunked by multiple major fact-checking and media organizations.
Last week, the Black Insurrectionist account shared screenshots of email correspondence the account had with an alleged victim on X. Almost immediately, the evidence was questioned when X users spotted a text cursor in one of the screenshots, suggesting that Black Insurrectionist was editing the document. Others pointed out that the date and time format shown in some of the screenshots was inconsistent with how they are displayed on real emails.
Black Insurrectionist initially defended itself before going silent. The account was deleted on Thursday.
The two dozen posts from Black Insurrectionist laying out their alleged evidence have been viewed over 33 million times, according to Xâs own metrics, and have been shared on numerous other platforms, including Truth Social, Instagram, Telegram, and TikTok.
Among those sharing Black Insurrectiontâs claims was Paine, who hosted Dougan on his QAnon show. âI have no reason to doubt the veracity of this story,â Paine wrote on X.
The posts have also caught the attention of the wider MAGA universe in a way that Douganâs initial claims didnât. Prominent right-wing figures like Owens and Posobiec both flagged the âallegationsâ as something worth looking into.
Owens discussed the conspiracy on her top-rated podcast, with the episode racking up over 630,000 views on YouTube since it was posted on Wednesday.
Posobiec wrote on X that there were âlots of allegations going around regarding Tim Walz sexually abusing young student(s).â While he added that he didnât âknow about any of the recent allegations being made,â he did share a link to Douganâs claims from earlier in the month.
When Harris replaced President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee for president in July, Russian-aligned propaganda networks struggled to mount effective disinformation campaigns targeting the vice president and her team.
But as Microsoft reported in the summer, those campaigns have started to find their footing. "The shift to focusing on the Harris-Walz campaign reflects a strategic move by Russian actors aimed at exploiting any perceived vulnerabilities in the new candidates," Clint Watts, head of Microsoftâs Threat Analysis Center, wrote in August.

The Math of Social Networks: How Social Media Algorithms Work
In the digital age, social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok are fueled by complex mathematical algorithms that determine what you see in your feed, who you follow, and what content "goes viral." These algorithms rely heavily on graph theory, matrix operations, and probabilistic models to connect billions of users, influencers, and posts in increasingly intricate webs of relationships.
Graph Theory: The Backbone of Social Networks
Social media platforms can be visualized as graphs, where each user is a node and each connection (whether itâs a "follow," "like," or "comment") is an edge. The structure of these graphs is far from random. In fact, they follow certain mathematical properties that can be analyzed using graph theory.
For example, cliques (a subset of users where everyone is connected to each other) are common in influencer networks. These clusters of interconnected users help drive trends by amplifying each otherâs content. The degree of a node (a userâs number of direct connections) is a key factor in visibility, influencing how posts spread across the platform.
Additionally, the famous Six Degrees of Separation theory, which posits that any two people are connected by no more than six intermediaries, can be modeled using small-world networks. In these networks, most users are not directly connected to each other, but the distance between any two users (in terms of number of connections) is surprisingly short. This is the mathematical magic behind viral content, as a post can be shared through a small network of highly connected individuals and reach millions of users.
Matrix Operations: Modeling Connections and Relevance
When social media platforms recommend posts, they often rely on matrix operations to model relationships between users and content. This process can be broken down into several steps:
User-Content Matrix: A matrix is created where each row represents a user and each column represents a piece of content (post, video, etc.). Each cell in this matrix could hold values indicating the userâs interactions with the content (e.g., likes, comments, shares).
Matrix Factorization: To make recommendations, platforms use matrix factorization techniques such as singular value decomposition (SVD). This helps reduce the complexity of the data by identifying latent factors that explain user preferences, enabling platforms to predict what content a user is likely to engage with next.
Personalization: This factorization results in a model that can predict a userâs preferences even for content theyâve never seen before, creating a personalized feed. The goal is to minimize the error matrix, where the predicted interactions match the actual interactions as closely as possible.
Influence and Virality: The Power of Centrality and Weighted Graphs
Not all users are equal when it comes to influencing the network. The concept of centrality measures the importance of a node within a graph, and in social media, this directly correlates with a userâs ability to shape trends and drive engagement. Common types of centrality include:
Degree centrality: Simply the number of direct connections a user has. Highly connected users (like influencers) are often at the core of viral content propagation.
Betweenness centrality: This measures how often a user acts as a bridge along the shortest path between two other users. A user with high betweenness centrality can facilitate the spread of information across different parts of the network.
Eigenvector centrality: A more sophisticated measure that not only considers the number of connections but also the quality of those connections. A user with high eigenvector centrality is well-connected to other important users, enhancing their influence.
Algorithms and Machine Learning: Predicting What You See
The most sophisticated social media platforms integrate machine learning algorithms to predict which posts will generate the most engagement. These models are often trained on vast amounts of user data (likes, shares, comments, time spent on content, etc.) to determine the factors that influence user interaction.
The ranking algorithms take these factors into account to assign each post a âscoreâ based on its predicted engagement. For example:
Collaborative Filtering: This technique relies on past interactions to predict future preferences, where the behavior of similar users is used to recommend content.
Content-Based Filtering: This involves analyzing the content itself, such as keywords, images, or video length, to recommend similar content to users.
Hybrid Methods: These combine collaborative filtering and content-based filtering to improve accuracy.
Ethics and the Filter Bubble
While the mathematical models behind social media algorithms are powerful, they also come with ethical considerations. Filter bubbles, where users are only exposed to content they agree with or are already familiar with, can be created due to biased algorithms. This can limit exposure to diverse perspectives and create echo chambers, reinforcing existing beliefs rather than fostering healthy debate.
Furthermore, algorithmic fairness and the prevention of algorithmic bias are growing areas of research, as biased recommendations can disproportionately affect marginalized groups. For instance, if an algorithm is trained on biased data (say, excluding certain demographics), it can unfairly influence the content shown to users.

The constructed, intentional demise of journalism and creation of ânews desertsâ is going to be hard to reverse, but we can do it.
We can try and detach U.S. journalism from the corrosive nature of advertising engagement. We can take a cue from Finland and shore up our education standards with an eye on media literacy and combating propaganda. We can encourage FCC regulators to restore media consolidation limits and protect diversity in media ownership.
We can embrace public funding for journalism, given data indicates public journalism funding helps protect democracies. Democrats can completely retool their feckless public messaging efforts with an eye on simplicity, redundancy, creativity, and brutal repetition. Activists and consumer groups can do a better job exploiting social media virality to reach young Americans.
We can build decentralized social-media platforms more resilient to the whims of erratic billionaires. We can restore trust in institutions by fighting corruption. We can find, fund, and amplify ethical journalists and influencers of conscience wherever possible. We can embrace antitrust reform and local alternatives to consolidated corporate power.
We can exhibit greater personal discipline when it comes to amplifying outrage engagement bait on social media. We can stop pretending that authoritarians are interested in a good faith debate on policy. We can stop watching cable-TV news empires that threw the public welfare under the bus a quarter century ago. We can realize weâre under attack and act accordingly.

đ create a sim(p)! â 18: friends?
synopsis â after stupidly claiming on stream that youâve been dating popular youtuber choi beomgyu in secret after accidentally creating an identically looking sim, you beg him not to reveal your lie to the public when it goes viral. weirdly, he agrees and you two begin to fool the public. can your lie become the truth or will it eventually catch up with you?
prev / masterlist / next
a/n â back with another written chapter! but this time itâs gyuâs pov! (wc: ~1k) as for warnings: swearing, mentions of murder, mentions of pineapple pizza(đ) and beomgyu having an internal crisis throughout the whole thing!

âWhatâs up?â Beomgyu greeted, walking smoothly into your room.
âSit. We have much to discuss.â You ordered.
He plopped himself down in the bean bag chair.
âFirst order of business, my mandatory freak out.â
Beomgyu looked at you confused. His expression only amplified into one of abject horror when you, without further explanation, started screaming incoherently into your pillows. Your arms flailing wildly, you let out all your grievances and curses while Beomgyu watched on in silence, unsure whether to flee or comfort.
After you tired yourself out, you lifted your head, your neutral expression returned to your face. Beomgyu was relieved you were done screaming, given he had just become super concerned about you. Friends worry about friends right? He thought, thinking back to his conversation with Keeho and the others. Yeah, but you can also worry about someone youâre interested in. What the hell- now is NOT the time to be worried about that.
âAre you okay?â He asked quickly, desperate to clear his thoughts from his mind. âThat was⊠unexpected.â
âI told you beforehand I was going to have a mandatory freak out. Be grateful I had the sense to not scream without the muffler.â You barked, absolutely no bite attached. Beomgyu shrugged, deciding to let you have that.
Wait, am I just doing that because I like-
âSecond order of business!â You clapped your hands, snapping Beomgyu out of his mind. âWe need to figure out how to address the thread.â
âWould it be crazy for me to sayâŠâ Beomgyu started, unsure how his next words would go, âI donât think we should address it all?â
âWhy would we not?!â
âListen⊠Itâs just giving that person what they want: attention. Nobody else was agreeing with them, so itâs not like we have much to worry about.â
âNot yet! But what if people start reading deeper into everything we do? Then weâre in deep shit.â
âYouâre in deep shit.â He corrected without much thought, immediately facepalming himself for two reasons.
One, that was an asshole thing to say. And two, the way your face immediately fell made him feel like crap.
âOh yeah⊠I forgotâŠâ You whispered softly, more to yourself than out loud.
âNo no, wait.â He didnât like that expression on your face. âI didnât mean that. Slip of the tongue. Youâre right. Itâs our problem, and we should fix it together.â
Friends donât leave friends to drown. Even if said friend is in this situation because of their own stupid, idiotic actions.
âYeahâŠâ You nodded before looking away.
Now, it was like a wall was between the two of you. Beomgyu felt kinda bad. This whole time you had been trying to be nice to him and build a friendship, but he only gave you half-hearted reactions and treatment. Sure, you had probably only done it so that your fake relationship would look realer, but still⊠You were trying so hard⊠And he wasnât trying enough.
No wonder he was so confused about whether he liked you as a friend or partner. Fake dating really is a terrible idea.
âHey, why donât we stream again? Like nothing happened, and if someone asks we can shut it down there?â He suggested, wanting to fill the silence and show you he cared at the same time.
âThat could work⊠What should we say?â
âPretty much that that person is reaching. Itâs simple, to the point and we donât have to make anything up.â Beomgyu made a mental note to also make a tweet condemning any of his fans for spewing hate about you. âHow about that?â
âSounds good to me. When should we do this?â
âYeonjun actually wanted to be in one of my vlogs, so we can meet up with him tomorrow? Hang out and then record? Two birds with one stoneâŠâ
âYeonjunâŠ?â
âMy best friend.â
âAh⊠Wait, you brought your friend with you? What, you thought I was gonna murder you or something?â
âHe had to shoot!â Beomgyu defended, âAnd to be fair, he was the one that thought youâd murder me. I trust you.â
âOh really?â You looked surprised.
âYeah,â Beomgyu smirked mischievously, âTrust that you wouldnât be stupid enough to try anything. You have no chance against me.â
âWhat?! Iâd totally kick your butt if I wanted to!â
âSure.â He dragged out the last syllable, making it extremely clear that he was being sarcastic.
âYou know what? Letâs go! Right now!â
âNo thanks, I donât wanna have to explain to Yeonjun why we have to flee back to Korea before I get arrested.â
âYou are not funny!â
The way you guys could playfully banter like this was making Beomgyu even more confused. He enjoyed your company, which was normal for friends⊠But he couldnât help but think you were so attractive the way you shook your fist at him. Itâs not like he wanted to kiss you. Or did he? Do friends kiss? God, he sounded like a loser right now.
Maybe he should text his friends againâŠ
If Taehyun was here heâd probably set Beomgyu straight. But Taehyun would also drag him for every decision heâs ever made and then call him dumb. Jake was unhelpful for things like this, given he was a prime example of what not to do in relationships. Yeonjun was helpful⊠when he was available. Which wasnât often. He was probably out right now. Keeho? He was pretty normal and pretty helpful too⊠But, he was addicted to being in peopleâs business and getting himself involved with both sides of the party...He did not want Keeho to start talking to you.
Maybe he should just take a nap.
âFine, fine, you win.â
âDamn right I do!â You grinned, laying on your back to look up at your bare ceiling. âSo⊠What do you wanna do for dinner?â
âPizza?â
âYes! Can we get it with pineapples?â
âNo? What monster eats pizza with pineapples?â
âIâll have you know me and NingNing adore pineapple pizza.â
âWHO??â
âOh! Thatâs what I call Kai.â
âOh. I thought you had an imaginary friend or somethingâŠAnyways⊠No pineapple on the pizza.â
âDarn.â

Jay Kuo for The Big Picture:
Tulsi Gabbard is a Russian asset. Either that, or sheâs compromised. At best, sheâs a useful shill for the Kremlin. Sheâs even been called âRussiaâs girlfriendâ by its own propagandists. And she is a big vector for disinformation, particularly around Ukraine and other countries Putin has his sights on. Those countries include Syria, where Russia has long backed the murderous regime of Bashar al-Assad against rebel forces in a war that has killed half a million people and displaced 12 million more both inside and outside the country. Gabbard infamously visited Assad on her own in 2015, after which she became a chief apologist for his regime, to the horror of her fellow Democrats at the time.
Now Assad has fled, apparently to Moscow, and we may still learn what caused Gabbard to come to Assadâs defense at a time when he was gassing his own citizens. But time is running out. In a true âweâre in the upside downâ moment, Donald Trump has nominated Gabbard to the position of Director of National Intelligence, an office that oversees no fewer than 18 different U.S. intelligence agencies. In that position, Gabbard would oversee the National Intelligence Program, which funds intelligence activities in several federal departments, and the Central Intelligence Agency. She would also advise Trump, the National Security Council, and the Homeland Security Council on matters of national security. In order to do so, she would necessarily have access to all of our nationâs top secretsâa terrifying proposition if Gabbard is actually in the tank for Russia. There is ample reason to suspect that Gabbard has at a minimum been brainwashed into becoming a reliable Putin mouthpiece. And her bizarre and as yet unexplained affinity for Assad is now fully in the spotlight too, given that regimeâs total collapse. All of her favorite leaders are now gathered in Moscow, which raises a crucial question: What the hell are we doing considering her for the top intelligence post?
Look what you made Vlad do!
It isnât clear when exactly Gabbard made the jump from U.S. isolationist to Putin apologist. But few can forget her public position, tweeted out to the world when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. The âwar and sufferingâ could have been avoided, Gabbard claimed, if the Biden administration and its allies had acknowledged âRussiaâs legitimate security concerns regarding Ukraineâs becoming a member of NATO,â which she said would âmean US/NATO forces right on Russiaâs borderâ:
[...]
Parroting dangerous bioweapons claims
Gabbard followed this up with a call for a cease-fire, recording a video in which she claimed there were 25 or more U.S.-funded âbiolabs in Ukraine which if breached would release and spread deadly pathogens.â U.S. officials had vehemently denied these allegations when they were made days earlier by Russian officials, but Gabbard again sided with Russia.
Fact-checkers debunked the claims of âbiolabsâ in Ukraine as initially spread by anonymous social media accounts. But after they emerged, the claims went viral. Per reporting by the Washington Post, the false claims eventually reached Tucker Carlsonâs show on the Fox Network and were amplified by the Russian government. (Carlson is another apologist for Putin, and portions of his show were aired earlier this year on Russian state television.) The question over the alleged biolabs was no small matter, and Gabbardâs amplification of the disinformation was alarming to many.Â
[...]
Taking the side of a mass murderer
Gabbardâs preference for our enemies isnât limited to Russia. She has frequently defended Bashar al-Assad in Syria. And it takes a unique kind of person to do so. In her first visit to Syria, which took place in June 2015, Gabbard went on her own as a Congresswoman representing the state of Hawaii. She met with burn victims who had suffered head-to-toe injuries from air strikes. But rather than condemn Assad, according to her translator, Gabbard sought to persuade the victims that their injuries had not come from government air strikes but from the resistance. This was patently absurd because the rebels had no air power. Only the government did. So why was she so keen to argue this, even to burn victims? In September of 2015, Putin entered the conflict on the side of Assad. He sent mercenaries but also increased the regimeâs ability to perform air strikes, which Assad used to bomb hospitals and other civilian structures. This turned the tide in favor of Assad for a prolonged period.
[...]
Is Gabbard a Russian asset?
Many have openly speculated about exactly why Gabbard has been so keen to parrot Russian propaganda and defend a brutal dictator like Assad. And indeed, prominent leaders from both sides of the aisle have accused Gabbard of being everything from a Russian asset to an apologist for our sworn enemies. Hillary Clinton appeared on a podcast in 2019 stating she believed Trump and the GOP were âgroomingâ another spoiler third-party candidate who would be helpful to Russia. âSheâs the favorite of the Russians,â Clinton mused. âThey have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far and thatâs assuming Jill Stein will give it up because sheâs also a Russian asset.â Asked later whether Clinton was referring to Gabbard, her spokesperson said, âIf the nesting doll fits.â (Gabbard exploded in anger over the claim and even sued Clinton for $50 million claiming defamation, but later dropped the suit.) On the other side, former UN Ambassador and Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley recently laid into Gabbard on her podcast. After walking through Gabbardâs worrisome record of siding with our enemies, and speaking specifically about the position of Director of National Intelligence, Haley warned, âThis is not the place for a Russian, Iranian, Syrian and Chinese sympathizer. Sometimes, the reality of social media can be harsh. When my posts go viral or a topic gains traction, the spike in engagement often comes with an uptick in hateful or antisemitic comments.
But hereâs the twist: their hate boosts my content. The very engagement they try to use against me pushes my posts further into the algorithm, reaching an even larger audience. Since many of my accounts are monetized, their negativity actually helps grow my business. In their attempt to spread hate, they amplify my work. I win.
Thanks to filters and the magic of the block button, much of this negativity never sees the light of day on my pages. Instead, I focus on creating a safe and inviting space for anyone, from any culture, who wants to learn Hebrew.
So to all the haters: thank you for unknowingly helping me spread love, language, and connection. Hate has no place here, but turning it into positivity? Thatâs the beauty of this journey.

Hello everyone today Iâm going to talk about wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puthâs song « See you again »

See You Again" and Its Viral Resurgence on TikTok
Wiz Khalifaâs emotional hit "See You Again" originally captured hearts as a tribute to Paul Walker in Furious 7. Years later, the song has found new life and a younger audience thanks to TikTok, where it became the soundtrack for heartfelt tributes, nostalgic montages, and moments of personal reflection.
The song's deeply emotional lyricsâ"It's been a long day without you, my friend"âresonate perfectly with TikTok's short-form storytelling. Users pair the track with videos commemorating loved ones, friendships, or milestones, creating content that tugs at the heartstrings of millions. The platformâs algorithm amplified its reach, as users engaged with content that blended universal themes of loss and hope.
One key trend featured creators using the song to transition between memories and present-day moments, reinforcing its timeless message of cherishing connections. The viral wave demonstrates TikTok's unique ability to revive classics by aligning them with current emotional narratives, ensuring "See You Again" remains a generational anthem across platforms.
And thatâs a wrap! Thank you for keeping up we me all this time, it was really fun to post about songs and artists each week! Have a great weekend !

Staying on top of new technologies and trends in the ever-changing landscape of digital marketing is crucial for businesses to successfully communicate with their target audience. And now Threads is one of the new trends that has received a lot of attention. Threads, which were popularised by social media platforms such as Twitter and Reddit, are a group of connected messages or posts that provide an overall story.
In this blog post, weâll look at Threadsâ impact on digital marketing and how they can improve customer engagement and brand communication.
Captivating Storytelling:
Threads provide an excellent platform for businesses to tell compelling stories. By breaking down a larger narrative into smaller ones, brands can create engaging content that captures and retains the attention of their audience. This storytelling format is particularly effective for showcasing the journey of a product or service, sharing customer success stories, or unveiling behind-the-scenes processes. With Threads, marketers can take advantage of the sequential nature of content consumption, building suspense and anticipation, ultimately leading to increased brand interest and loyalty.
For businesses looking to optimize their digital presence, partnering with a reliable Digital Marketing Agency in Chennai or global provider is crucial. Helps to leverage the power of Threads to enhance content marketing efforts.
Increased Engagement:
One of the key advantages of Threads is their ability to encourage active participation and engagement from users. By structuring content in a conversational format, brands can prompt users to respond, share their opinions, and contribute to the discussion. This interactive element helps to foster a sense of community and empowers users to become brand advocates. Moreover, Threads also enable marketers to respond directly to user comments and questions, facilitating real-time engagement and strengthening the bond between the brand and its customers.
Amplified Reach and Virality:
Threads have the potential to go viral and reach a wider audience due to their shareability. When users come through a Thread that speaks to them, they are able to share it with their own network, thereby increasing the brandâs reach and exposure. This organic sharing can lead to increased visibility, attracting new followers, customers, and potential leads. Leveraging the power of virality, brands can extend their reach and generate buzz around their products or campaigns, ultimately driving conversions and brand growth.
Content Repurposing:
Threads offer a versatile content format that can be repurposed across various platforms and channels. Brands can repurpose Thread content into blog posts, infographics, videos, or even social media advertisements. This repurposing strategy allows marketers to maximize the value of their content investments while catering to the preferences and habits of different audience segments. By utilizing Threads as a foundation, brands can create a cohesive multi-channel marketing strategy that ensures consistent messaging and brand presence across platforms.
To elevate brand communication, partnering with a trusted Branding Agency in Coimbatore or in your locations is paramount.
Enhanced Brand Communication:

Threads also allow brands to show off their expertise, respond to customer feedback or suggestions, and address any issues or questions in an open way, thereby improving overall reputation and satisfaction among consumers.

Right-Wing Media Sails On Despite Russian Scheme
It was the day before the most recent presidential debate and Benny Johnson, the popular right-wing podcaster and YouTube show host, was amplifying the latest falsehoodâsoon to be heard direct from Republican candidate Donald Trumpâs mouthâthat Haitian immigrants were dining on peopleâs cats. âThis story is insane, all right!â Johnson chortled on The Benny Show. âI doubt any corporate media is going to go and tell the story of Springfield, Ohio, but we have to, actually, as our social obligation to you.â
The Sept. 9 video racked up more than 132,000 views and helps explain why The Benny Show has more than 2.4 million subscribers on YouTube. It also illuminates why its hostâonce the viral political editor of BuzzFeed before he was fired for multiple instances of plagiarism in 2014âwas recruited by Tenet Media, a right-wing Tennessee-based media company identified by the US Department of Justice this month as a âcovert projectâ of RT, the Russian state-controlled media outlet. âBenny used to say, âDo you know the difference between a good click and a bad click? Theyâre just clicks,ââ recalls Bubba Atkinson, founder of Bubba News, a daily center-right newsletter, who worked with Johnson in the past. âI think thatâs demonstrative of the ethos he lives by, where, you know, almost all attention is good for him.â
Johnson has issued a statement saying he was unaware of Tenetâs Kremlin ties. So have several of the companyâs other prominent commentators, most notably the self-described red-pilled former leftist Dave Rubin and skateboarding libertarian Tim Pool. That may very well be true. Still, that such relatively big names in right-wing circles could find themselves entangled with anti-American forcesâwittingly or unwittinglyâspeaks volumes about the state of conservative media in the age of Trump.
If you think of the hierarchy of the right-wing media world, particularly on the personality side, as a three-tiered pyramid, the top is occupied by Fox News figures like Trump cheerleader Sean Hannity. Go down a level, and youâll find Ben Shapiro and his co-hosts at the Daily Wire, the Nashville company aspiring to be a right-wing Walt Disney Co. Then thereâs a third tier of self-employed figures like Johnson, Pool and Rubin. Without the protection or the guardrails of an employer, they must compete for traffic with everybody else and have a financial incentive to go to extremes.
That could mean Johnson mocking the Fulton County, Georgia, district attorney and Trump nemesis Fani Willis as âBig Fani,â or Pool hosting alt-right figures such as Richard Spencer and former Breitbart News senior editor Milo Yiannopoulos, whoâve been largely shunned for good reason elsewhere in conservative circles. But that only seems to have made Tenetâs commentators more attractive to RT. According to the indictment, their messages âare often consistent with the Government of Russiaâs interest in amplifying US domestic divisions.â
âLook, the Russians were not stupid,â says Rick Wilson, co-founder of the anti-Trump Lincoln Project and a former Republican political consultant. âThey recognized that these guys are very much influencers who can spread the kind of messages they wanted distributed to a wider audience, to drive social media engagement through the roof.â (Neither Tenet nor Johnson, Pool or Rubin responded to interview requests for this story.)
Given the nature of their businesses, the Tenet figures were also clearly more susceptible to the dangling of large checksâin at least one instance, $100,000 per videoâthan their peers with cushier employment arrangements. As Pool put it in an appearance on The Ben Shapiro Show after the indictmentâs unveiling, he gets these kinds of offers all the time. âWhen someone reaches out to us, I say, âGreat, cool. Someone handle it and talk to the lawyers,ââ Pool told Shapiro. âThe lawyers come back, do their due diligence, and then we say sureâor whatever.â
He added, âWe have people tweeting at me, like, give the money back. Like dude, let me put it this way, weâre talking to our legal department.â
None of this impresses Cenk Uygur, founder of TYTs, a progressive online news network, who has appeared on Poolâs showâor at least he did before the news of the hostâs RT connection. âCome on, man, somebody gives you $100,000 a video?â Uygur says. âThat makes me ask, are other people giving you $100,000 a video? And who are they? If this is so normal, how often does this happen for right-wing media? And who else is giving you money for propaganda?â
As for Johnson, heâs continuing to rack up views on YouTube. Despite his association with Tenet, heâs had little trouble getting prominent Republicans to appear, including sitting members of Congress. The Benny Show goes on.

By Peter A. McCullough, MD, MPH
Common head colds start with viral particles sticking to hair cells within the nasal cavity where they gain a foothold. From there they start invading mucosal cells and replicate to amplify their attack on the human body. Inflammation in lymphoid tissue of the soft palate, tonsils, and adenoids causes the initial sore throat which is a signal the virus has been in the nose for days.
Please enjoy this featured interview with Dr. Gustavo Ferrer, FCCP designed to improve our understanding of how the nose and mouth are central therapeutic targets for the prevention and and treatment of viral upper respiratory tract infections. Dr. Ferrer is an experienced pulmonologist trained both in Cuba and the US, founder of the Cleveland Clinic Florida Cough Clinic, Interstitial Lung Disease and president of Intensive Care Experts / Aventura Pulmonary Institute. He is an authority on respiratory ailments with over 20 years of experience.
âUsing his many years of experience he authored three books to help many around the world. We review his original research on intranasal chlorpheniramine, xylitol, sorbitol, saline, and many more ingredients he has tested in animal and human studies. He has invented a more effective nasal spray pump. Ferrar uses a xylitol-based nasal spray twice a day and even more on the days he travels and revealed he has had zero colds this year. This should be our collective goal for 2025.
It makes so much sense that nasal sprays and gargles not only prevent virions from attaching to hair cells, they kill pathogens, and they also orient the microbiome of good bacteria in the nasal passages and throat to better defend against pathogenic viruses. So instead of the first reflex being oral supplements or cold remedies, we should reach for nasal sprays and gargles. If done on a regular basis, we can prevent the vast amount of common colds encountered every year.

DIMENSIONS (SURFACE + SPACE) VIRAL INTERVENTIONS:Â
F.F.A.C.T. â Futuristic Food Agency for Copyright & Tariffs
âA futuristic tariff redefines food and copyright.â
FINAL DOCUMENTATION
Our project seeks to challenge the everyday expectations of public interaction by distributing fake money embedded with a bold message concerning the current tariff situation in the country. By choosing a busy public space, we aim to reach a wide audience all at once and observe their immediate, unfiltered reactions. The money functions as a tool of disruptionâcatching people off guard and inviting them to pause, question, and reflect. To document the authenticity of their responses, we considered capturing these moments discreetly, turning real-time reactions into raw insight.
In these interactions, we used statistic-based questions to confront people with facts in a direct, impactful way. Numbers are universal and difficult to ignore, making them a powerful entry point into deeper dialogue. Our goal was to bring an unexpected message into a familiar environment, pushing the public to confront uncomfortable truths in the middle of their daily routines.
On social media, we amplified the experience using inverted colors and graffiti-inspired typography to give our posts a rebellious and urgent aesthetic. Instagram served as our main platform, helping us extend the reach of our message beyond the physical space and into the digital one.

Week 11 Blog
With the use of hashtags on online spaces being used to help spread awareness/reach out to more people how can online trolls affect these hashtags?
Online trolls can hijack, or flood hashtags with misinformation, altering their original intent and undermining solidarity. As Fuchs (2013) notes, digital spaces are sites of struggle, where power and disruption coexist. Trolls often attack marginalized movements like #BlackLivesMatter or #NoDAPL with racist or dismissive commentary, attempting to derail conversation and provoke users. This harassment can intimidate participants, shift narratives, and reduce the effectiveness of hashtags as tools for awareness and mobilization.
In what ways do social media platforms enable or limit the visibility of Indigenous, Black, or other marginalized voices, especially in movements like #NoDAPL or #BlackLivesMatter?
Social media provides a powerful platform for marginalized voices to challenge dominant narratives, as seen in Parkhurstâs account of #NoDAPL and Leeâs analysis of Black Twitter. Hashtags amplify voices and create a digital community. However, algorithms often prioritize viral or advertiser-friendly content, limiting critical discourse. Corporate moderation practices can also silence dissent. While platforms enable outreach, they also constrain visibility through structural bias and inconsistent enforcement of content policies.
How do visuals like memes, live streams, or viral videos play a role in digital protest spaces compared to text-based hashtags and posts?
Visuals provide immediacy and emotional resonance that text alone often cannot. Lee (2017) shows how Black Twitter uses memes and parody to challenge racial bias creatively. Likewise, Parkhurst observed that livestreams and video documentation during #NoDAPL made state violence and Indigenous resistance visible worldwide. Visuals humanize protest, generate empathy, and often go viral more easily than hashtags, making them crucial for attracting mainstream attention and documenting truth in activist movements.
How does the presence of corporate interests (Meta, X/Twitter) shape what types of activism are promoted, suppressed, or monetized on social media?
Corporate platforms like Meta and X/Twitter are driven by profit, often promoting content that generates engagement and ad revenue. Fuchs critiques these entities for commodifying activism, highlighting how platforms may suppress or âshadow-banâ controversial movements while amplifying sanitized narratives. Activists like those in #NoDAPL or Black Twitter can be deprioritized algorithmically or censored under vague âcommunity guidelines,â limiting reach. This commercial control complicates efforts to use social media for grassroots political change.
