Bird Warning Signage

A key story element in “Curry Quest” is that while on an errand, Dad and Bingo must avoid an aggressive bird that has been protecting its nest by swooping down at people in the park.

The lady at the bus stop reports this is no joke, her hat was attacked!

There are signs posted in the area.

There are real life prototypes for the signs in Bluey; in part as a result of a real life incident in Brisbane in 2021 where there was a fatality due to a swooping bird.

At the end of the episode, Bingo and Dad have made it through the park and back, and the bird didn’t attack them. They tried to be respectful of the bird and didn’t antagonize it. They also made use of false eyespots (made with face paint) to deter/repel the bird.

This is a problem elsewhere, likely in many parts of the world…

Here in Canada we have problems with Canada Geese, which can also be temperamental and very protective of their nests and offspring. They are powerful birds.

Signage similar to that employed by the City of Brisbane might be worth considering.

Might write some more on this another time. Interesting realistic problem.
