Halara Nightmare ships

With hurricane problems outta the way, let's continue this, shall we? Same as before, rating all ships with the lead cast plus anyone extra I've seen Halara paired with.

Halara x Yuma: 10/10; super effectively cute! Tough cookie Halara and their wet napkin of a boyfriend. Made better cause our friend group subconsciously started jokingly shipping them. They should hold hands more often.

Halara x Shinigami: 2/10; they just don't seem compatible at all, but I could be persuaded. I don't think I've seen any content of this pair though, which is probably why it'll be a lot more difficult to change my mind.

Halara x Yakou: 6/10; talked about them with my ratings for Yakou's ships.

Halara x Desuhiko: 1/10; Halara would drop kick Desuhiko into next year if they could. I'm always open for convincing as stated before, but this is an even harder sell for me.

Halara x Fubuki: 10/10; Clockmare supremacy! I love the idea of Fubuki funding Halara's mission to save stray cats. Favorite date spots are cafes and malls, and they will shop till they drop! Alexa play Material Girl by Madonna as background music for their cheesy shopping montage.

Halara x Vivia: 6/10; Lotta potential, especially after reading Halara's prequel novel! Can I finally start talking about that? Well, to keep it short, I really wanna explore the idea that Halara used to have visions of ghosts when using Postcognition, and Vivia being there to talk to them about it would be prime bonding material. They're also the ass-kicking duo we need in this world.

Halara x Zilch (the real one): 10/10; the cool cat lover and their cat-dog-wolf-fox-guy! Very fluffy pairing, super sweet. What I wouldn't give to see them interact in canon... but hey, that's what the awesome fan content is for!

“I’m sorry General, but I cannot clear you for the mission”, Kix said, sounding a little irritated.

“Oh, come on. Anakin was hurt worse than me and yet you’ve cleared him”, Lexie protested.

“Unlike you, General Skywalker didn’t fight me on going into a bacta tank and then actually rested until his injuries got better. If you had listened to me and had not dislocated your shoulder all over again, Sir, it would have been healed by now”, he said without taking his eyes off the datapad he was holding.

She turned her head to look at Rex. He was already wearing the cold-weather armor necessary for the mission.

“Don’t look at me, I fully agree with him”, he said dryly as he met her eyes.

“So what am I supposed to do? just hang around the base for the next 3 rotations?”, she asked annoyed.

“You’ll be out of the fight for longer than that if you don’t stop straining that shoulder”, Kix warned her. “I swear you’re a worse patient than Rex”, he mumbled under his breath, earning an annoyed look from both her and the Captain.

“Are the essential medical supplies records up to date?”, Rex asked, remembering why he came into the infirmary in the first place.

“Yeah, mostly. I have a few more requisitions to fill out. Should all be done by the time you’re back. Be safe out there, vod”, Kix replied.

Rex nodded and walked out of the infirmary, Lexie following close behind.

“Kix is staying here too?”, she asked the Captain.

“Yes. So are most of the men. General Skywalker thought one platoon should be enough, the others can enjoy the rest of their leave”.

“Glad he remembered to discuss that with me”, she said sarcastically.

“You were injured, General”, he said dryly, glancing to her right arm that was back in a sling.

“Don’t you start. You know very well I could’ve attended that briefing if either of you had bothered to comm me”.

“That briefing took place while Kix was patching you up. And all due respect, you should have listened to him and taken it easy”, Rex said.

“Was I supposed to just let that guy get away?”, she retorted.

“You were supposed to let the Corries do their job. They are more than capable of apprehending one common criminal”, he said exasperated. He was still a little angry with her blatant disregard for her own safety.

“I’m sorry but I’ve spent enough time in the underworld to know how little the authorities tend to care about crimes committed against female sex workers”, she said with indignation.

“My brothers wouldn’t just turn a blind eye to that”, he retorted, feeling somewhat insulted.

“Maybe. But I don’t know Fox and the others in the Guard. So I had to make sure it got done myself”, she tried to end their little argument.

 Something had change since their conversation on Maridun. Rex was now more comfortable in voicing his thoughts around her. The way she had opened up to him about something she had never shared with anyone before had stirred something in Rex and he had finally allowed himself to truly consider Lexie a friend. And that also meant he was now more comfortable disagreeing with her too.

So far, their arguments had been about Lexie’s carelessness when it came to her own wellbeing, disregarding medical advice in order to go chase a lowlife around the lower levels of Coruscant after he assaulted one of her informants, and reinjuring her shoulder in the process. Rex felt more protective towards her now, and was horrified to discover she could be just as reckless as Anakin.

The doors that lead to the landing platform opened and Lexie walked alongside Rex to the shuttle. She didn’t have to see him off, but for some reason she was anxious about him going on a mission without her and found it comforting to at least make sure he departed safely.

“I’m sorry to see you’re not joining us, Alexis”, Obi-Wan said. He and Anakin were also already dressed for the cold weather of Orto Plutonia.

“Well, I can’t argue with the medic I guess”, she said.

“And yet you keep trying”, Rex said under his breath. Lexie shot him a look.

“Ahsoka is not coming either. She can keep you company at the Temple if you get bored”, Anakin said with a grin. He knew Lexie was still pissed with him about the briefing and enjoyed winding her up further.

“Thanks for the suggestion”, she said dryly.

“Oh, lighten up. You hate the cold anyway. You should be glad I’m not dragging you to a snow covered planet”, he pushed teasingly.

“Well, we should get going. Don’t want to keep Senator Chuchi waiting”, Obi-Wan said, wishing to avoid an impending argument, and stepping into the shuttle.

Lexie took a few steps back and made eye contact with Rex as the doors of the ship closed. Come back safe.

Her feet were dragging on the wide corridors of the Temple trying to think of what to do with the rest of her day. Lexie had been trying to avoid the barracks ever since being back on world. She had spent some time with Rex, under the guise of needing his help with reports, but had otherwise acted a bit cold towards the others.

She was worried she had allowed herself to get too friendly with the clones while aboard the Resolute, training together, hanging out with them during meals or sometimes even in their common quarters late in the evening, sharing stories and playing Sabacc. She was still their general at the end of the day, she had to keep reminding herself. As comfortable as she felt around the men, she couldn’t allow herself to get too familiar. Appearances had to be maintained after all.

That is why Lexie had decided to get away from the base again after Rex and Anakin departed. As much as she would’ve liked to go and find Fives and Echo, she thought she should head back to the Temple. There were things she needed to clear up with Ahsoka anyway, after a somewhat heated disagreement the two of them had as they were leaving Maridun, that started when Lexie defended Tee Watt Kaa’s apparent ungratefulness.

“Were we not supposed to protect them?”, Ahsoka had asked.

“Of course we were supposed to protect them. That is our job, helping the innocent. But that does not justify planetary occupation. The Republic should not have sent troops here”, Lexie tried to explain. “This is supposed to be neutral space, something that both the Republic and the Order seem to be ignoring”.

“The Separatists ignored it first. It sounds like you’re against the Republic, against the Order”, Ahsoka accused.

“I am not against either of them but I cannot help wonder if we are not straying too far from our path. War has a tendency to twist things until they’re no longer recognisable and I am worried this is exactly what is happening to the Republic… And the Order is going along with it”.

“So you believe we shouldn’t be fighting in this war? Shouldn’t try to defend democracy, Master?”

“That is not what I am saying Ahsoka. What I meant is that the Jedi were not really given a choice on whether or not we involved ourselves in this conflict. We cannot do anything about it, we have to fight and we will, but it should not mean that we force others to do so too”.

Ahsoka had not seemed pleased with her stance. Perhaps she shouldn’t have voiced her concerns so openly, but it had been so difficult to make sense of this war, of the way it started and of what they were even fighting for. Master al’Prani’s voice sounded in her head, reprimanding her for allowing so much of her worries to slip past her lips.

She found Ahsoka outside the dining hall, having just finished her breakfast. The tension between them was still palpable.

“Master Skywalker has left me a set of training exercises to get through while he’s away. I need to head to the training facility”, she tried to excuse herself.

“I’ll walk with you there, if you don’t mind”, Lexie said.

The two walked in silence for a few moments. Uncomfortable silence.

“Ahsoka, I fear you have misunderstood me the other day”, Lexie said tentatively.

“What do you mean, Master?”, Ahsoka asked.

“Our conversation after Maridun”, she continued. “I was not taking a stance against the Republic. The main point I was trying to make was that Tee Watt Kaa’s point of view is as valid as any. Just like Master Secura told you, fighting is not the only way to show courage”.

“I understand that, Master. I may have been a bit stubborn during that argument if I am honest”, the young Padawan responded. “I think I understand what you were saying now”.

Lexie chuckled. “Good. I didn’t want you to think that I am not committed to fighting for the Republic. I have some concerns, that’s true, but I am content with doing my part. And I am happy with where I have been assigned”, Lexie smiled in her direction.

She joined Ahsoka for a while, observing her training and providing guidance when the Padawan requested it. She could see the immense potential the young Togruta possessed. No wonder Anakin was so proud of her, even though he rarely admitted it.

Back in her room, Lexie looked at her form in the mirror. The black eye she got during the last training session was finally starting to fade. She chuckled to herself at the memory of Echo’s shocked, wide-eyed expression as his fist connected with her face.

She really was happy with where she had been assigned, the 501st was starting to feel like family. There couldn’t really be any harm in being a bit friendlier with them right? She had wanted to feel like she belonged somewhere for so long. The Order had somewhat filled that need initially, but only briefly.

She looked at the burgundy robes she was wearing, the colour that reminded her of home, of her family. She had held onto it but there was no kidding anyone, she was not that person anymore. There was time for a change.

Both Anakin and Obi-Wan had integrated pieces of clone armor in their attire. Lexie had noticed it immediately and she had liked the idea. There had just not been time for her to do so as well. But she did have plenty of time on her hands now.

She pictured Rex in her mind, standing tall in his impressive captain’s getup. He was so handsome in it, Lexie had caught herself staring at him on numerous occasions during their recent deployment, admiring every part of his armor. She particularly liked the kama and wondered if it was something she could procure for herself.

Her black trousers and black boots were fine to keep, she decided, but she changed the usual black sleeveless top she always wore with a blue-grey, high neck one.

Changing clothes was exceptionally challenging while her shoulder was injured, she had discovered, but she somehow managed. It was a simple getup that would offer her plenty of mobility in the field. Maybe she’ll add a chestplate and shoulder pads in the future, but that would take a while, she’d need to have the pieces resized.

As it turned out, it was not too difficult to obtain a kama. All she had to do was go by the main GAR supply warehouse and she was able to get a simple, blue trimmed one that looked exactly like Rex’s.

It was a justifiable choice, she had gotten that thigh wound during their first mission so she was being smart now, protecting herself from similar injuries in the future. She also liked the way her lightsabers could be hidden under the kama, making her status as a Jedi a little less obvious.

It had nothing to do with the silly crush she was developing on the Captain, she kept telling herself.

Now there was the problem of her hair. She had bought blue hair dye two days before, finding a shade almost identical to the 501st colour and the plan was to dye her hair by herself; however, that was prior to the incident on the lower levels which had put her right arm out of commission again. Would she be able to only use her left arm? It would be too much of a struggle. She might have to postpone changing her hair.

Unless…

Lexie was feeling rather nervous as she walked down the corridors back at the barracks. The idea she had was starting to seem really bad. Her new outfit was also making her feel a bit self-conscious. Was the inspiration she took from Rex’s armor too obvious?

She reached the clones’ common break room and walked in. It was a spacious room, with three couches and holoscreens, as well as a couple of tables that the men would sometimes play Sabacc on.

A few clones were scattered around the room, most of them engrossed in a pod race that was broadcasted on all the holoscreens. Fives and Echo were sat at one of the tables, dressed in their blacks, pieces of armor and cans of paint scattered around them.

“Looking good, General”, Fives said as Lexie approached the table, giving her a once-over.

“Thanks, got bored with the robes”, she tried to play it off as a spur of the moment choice and not a carefully debated decision. “Refreshing the paint?”

“We finally had the time to finish customising our kit”, Echo said, showing her the newly added Z-6 blaster drawing on one of his thigh gauntlets, with the words for Hevy written right under.

“Looks really good”, she said with a smile. “Are you adding anything else?”

“I’m done with mine, just needs to dry now. Fives has just started again on his gauntlet”, Echo answered with a teasing voice directed at his brother.

“It didn’t turn out how I pictured it in my head, okay?”, Fives replied a bit defensively. Lexie chuckled.

“So… could you help me with something?”, she tentatively asked Echo.

“Sure, General. What do you need?”

Lexie awkwardly used her left hand to take out one of the boxes of hair dye from the tote bag she was carrying on her left shoulder.

“I’d do it myself but that would require moving my right shoulder too much. I think Kix would actually kill me if I dislocated it a third time”, she said with a small laugh.

“Umm… this isn’t really something I’ve ever done before”, Echo said as he hesitantly took the box she handed him.

“Well, there’s instructions in the box. It’s just like following orders”.

Echo gave her an unconvinced look.

“It’s not that hard, really. Just bleach, rinse, hair dye, rinse. I can definitely find some videos on the HoloNet if you need, you can study them like battle strategies”, she joked.

“Alright… But I am not responsible if it doesn’t turn out right”, Echo reluctantly agreed.

“Great”, she said with a bright smile. “Oh, and don’t worry, I don’t expect you to do it for free. I brought alcohol”, she moved the tote bag to the front.

“You should’ve lead with that. I’m in”, Fives said, dramatically slamming the plastoid of his armor on the table and getting up from his seat.

Lexie handed him the bag and he took out one of the bottles of Corellian wine, looking it over.

“Have I told you that you’re my favourite general?”, he said in a sweet voice.

“If I knew that’s all it took I would’ve brought you booze sooner”, she laughed.

The three of them moved to one of the refreshers on the level, Echo carrying a chair Lexie would need, while Fives carefully carried the bag containing the hair supplies and wine, making her chuckle at the exaggerated care with which he was handling it. The refresher was big, with multiple stalls and sinks. The showers in the back of the room were not designed to offer any privacy and Lexie really hoped no one would come wanting to use them in the next 2 hours.

Fives opened one of the bottles as soon as they got inside.

“Should I go get glasses”, he asked.

“Nah, it’s fine”, Lexie said, taking the bottle from him and lifting it to her mouth.

“I like your style, General”, he said with a smile, following her lead.

Echo was already focused on reading the instructions on the dye and dismissed Fives with his hand when he tried handing him the bottle. He kept declining a drink during the first part of the process, carefully studying and following a step-by-step holo-video tutorial on hair bleaching. He did start to loosen up after moving to the hair dye, joining in on drinking from the second bottle of wine. Fives and Lexie had finished the first one quite fast and were feeling a little buzzed now, chatting and joking louder than before.

 A few troopers would walk into the fresher every now and then, giving the three confused looks. It must have been a sight, their general sitting down on a chair near the sinks with a towel over her shoulders, while one of their brothers was applying blue dye to her hair and another one was leaning on a sink drinking wine straight from a bottle that would sometimes be passed to the other two.

Lexie should’ve cared how odd it looked, but she was enjoying herself too much to do so. Her fingernails did dig into her skin a few time though, trying to get her master out of her mind. He would not approve at all.

“I am curious about something”, Fives said at one point. “Can you read our minds?”

Lexie laughed. “No, it doesn’t really work like that. I mean I technically could probe into your mind and find out what you are thinking, but just by being near you doesn’t mean I can hear your thoughts”.

“Be glad of that. You do not want to hear what’s going on in his mirshe”, Echo said, not taking his eyes off the task at hand, carefully applying the hair dye on a section of Lexie’s hair.

“Kriff off, Echo”, Fives said before returning to his previous line of thought. “How does it work then?”

“It’s not that easy to explain. It’s more about sensing the energy around a person, and the way that energy shifts and moves with every different emotion”, she tries to explain.

Fives mulled over the sentence for a bit, trying to imagine how it would be like to feel what another person was feeling. It would probably be annoying after a while, he concluded.

“So what prompted this change?”, Fives asked gesturing to her, no longer interested with trying to understand the Force.

“Just got bored with my look. Thought I’d try to match with my battalion”, she responded with a smile.

“The kama is an interesting choice”, Fives continued. There was the tiniest hint of teasing to his voice and Lexie’s anxiety momentarily shot up. Had he made the connection? Was she that obvious?

“It’s practical”, she replied keeping a level voice.

“Rex is gonna love it”, he said, a sly grin forming on his face.

“Done”, Echo exclaimed as he finished applying the last of the dye, saving Lexie from having to come up with a response.

“Thank you, Echo. What did it say on the box, 30 minutes before rinsing?”, she asked.

“20 to 30, yes”

“Does Rex know you’re changing your hair?”, Fives asked taking another sip of wine.

Why won’t he drop it?

“Why would he?”, she replied a bit defensively.

“Just wondering if it’s something you’ve asked his opinion on. You’ve been spending a lot of evenings together since we’ve been back on Coruscant”, he said with a knowing smile.

“He’s been helping me with reports, we don’t really chat about anything else”, she lied.

The first part was true, she had needed his help with learning how to write and file the mission reports, however their conversations would always stray away from them, approaching all sorts of topics and lasting late into the night.

The expression on Fives’ face let her know that he did not believe her. She moved her gaze to Echo and to her surprise he had the same amused expression on his face as his brother. Lexie suddenly felt too exposed and the over-familiarity of the situation began to make her anxiety rise.

Of course they were starting to tease her, she had allowed for that friendly dynamic to form. But she couldn’t pull the “superior officer” card on them now, not after drinking with them and asking for personal favours, it would plainly tell Fives that he was on to something. She desperately wanted to change the subject.

“So are you boys going out after we’re done here?”, she asked.

“We can’t”, Fives replied.

“No, you can’t”, Echo corrected him. “Rex banned Fives from leaving the barracks for the remainder of our leave. I could still go out”.

“Really? And where would you even go?”, Fives said mockingly.

“Anywhere away from you would be a nice change”, Echo responded with a grin.

Fives snorted and made a face at his brother.

“Wait, back up. Why is Fives banned from leaving the barracks?”, Lexie asked Echo.

“The di'kut got himself thrown in the brig by Commander Fox. Again”, he informed her.

“Okay, first of, when? And second, ‘again’? How many times has that happened?”, Lexie said laughing

“I had a bit too much fun last night”, Fives shrugged.

“You stole Fox’s speeder”, Echo exclaimed.

“I didn’t know it was his speeder, okay? I thought it belonged to that nat-born chakaar. I was gonna teach him a lesson”, Fives defended himself.

“So are there going to be charges made against you?”, Lexie asked with some actual concern.

“No, Rex managed to smooth things over”, Fives said.

“Yeah, at 3 in the morning. Don’t remember the last time I’ve seen the Captain so pissed off”, Echo laughed.

Well that explains the sour mood he was in this morning.

“And this has happened before?”, she reiterated.

“Only once”, Fives said. “And it’s not actually my fault! Fox has something against the 501st. He likes finding the smallest transgressions and throwing it into Rex’s face that he’s not running the battalion properly”.

Lexie wasn’t sure what to make of that statement. Rex had talked a little about Fox only a few nights ago, referring to him as his ori'vod, just as he had with Cody. Maybe it was some sort of rivalry between brothers? She’d have to ask him when he returned from Orto Plutonia.

After rinsing her hair and drying it as much as she could with an already damp towel, Lexie looked at herself in the mirror, a smile creeping across her face. She ran her left hand through the blue hair and turned a few times, checking how it looked from different angles.

“You know, Echo, you might just have a future as a hairstylist after the war is over if you want it”, she joked.

“I’m glad you like it, General”, he said with a chuckle. “Now I am going to finish this, seeing how I was the one who actually did any work”, he said as he snatched the half empty bottle of wine from Fives.

“I was just waiting the right moment to help”, Fives said as he moved, coming to a stop behind Lexie. “Do you have a hair tie?”

“Umm, sure”, she said lifting her left wrist so he could take the simple black hair tie she had around it.

Fives sectioned her hair into three parts then wove them into a simple braid.

“Here you go, I contributed”, he announced securing the braid.

Lexie was so surprised she started laughing. “How and why do you know how to braid hair?”, she asked.

“Learnt it to impress a girl”, Fives replied finding her eyes in the mirror. His hands were resting on her shoulders.

“Did it work?”

“I don’t know, did it?”, he said with a sweet smile.

She narrowed her eyes at his reflection, a smile still on her lips.

“Okay fine, it was for the woman I briefly dated after we joined the 501st, the first time we came to Coruscant. She wore her hair in a braid just like you always do and I wanted to impress her” he said. “But you have to admit that was a great line”.

“It was smooth I’ll give that to you”, she laughed again, shaking her head and turning to face him.

“You’re lucky Rex wasn’t here to hear it though”, Echo told Fives, leaning to whisper into his ear.

Lexie heard him anyway and gave both men a confused look.

“You know how strict he is with properly addressing commanding officers”, Echo said a bit too fast to sound like that was the true meaning.

“Let’s go get some grub”, Fives exclaimed before Lexie could say anything else and started walking towards the door.

Rex felt exhausted as he walked down the corridors, wanting nothing more than to get out of the cold-weather armor and lay in his bed. At least the mission had been short, they had just returned on Coruscant having been gone only two rotations. They had lost a lot of men, however, eleven dead because of the ego of one chakaar. Rex clenched his fist as he thought of the late Chairman of Pantora. He shouldn’t think this way but he was truly glad that he was dead. It was justice.

As he walked past the common room he heard her laugh. He didn’t think she’d be here this late and his heart started beating faster at the thought of seeing her so soon. He went to walk in but froze in the doorway, his eyes landing on her.

Lexie was leaning on the armrest of one of the couches talking to Kix, both of them holding half-drunk bottles of ale in their hands. He barely noticed Echo and Fives who were sat on the couch, but they had not noticed him either, their full attention was on a sports game on the holoscreen.

Her different appearance left him breathless. The new clothes, the kama that looked just like his, the hair the same colour as the markings on his armor. He thought she was beautiful before but now he was completely mesmerized.

“Captain, you’re back”, Lexie said with a smile, noticing him in the doorway.

“Y-Yes, we just got back”, he said, walking towards her.

“What do you think of Echo’s handiwork, vod?”, Fives asked after muting the game.

“What?”, Rex replied confused.

“Echo dyed the General’s hair yesterday”, he explained with an amused expression.

Rex shot Echo a confused look, receiving a simple shrug in reply, before turning his eyes back to Lexie.

“It’s great… you look great me-General”, he caught himself right before calling her mesh’la.

“Looking good General, love the hair”, Jesse said as he walked in the common room, followed by Hardcase who let out a low wolf-whistle. Both men were also still wearing their cold-weather armor, which Hardcase started removing immediately.

“Thank you, boys”, Lexie replied with a laugh.

Rex was relived they had appeared when they had. Unfortunately for him, the amused expression he saw as he met Kix’s eyes shattered all hope that his near slip-up would go unnoticed and he couldn’t stop the blush that appeared on his face.

“Please tell me there’s more ale”, Jesse exclaimed. “That mission was horrible. How the Talz can live on that snow-forsaken planet is beyond me”.

“There should be more on the table”, Lexie gestured behind her with her head. She turned her attention back to the Captain. “I made sure to bring the alcohol here so that Fives wouldn’t sneak out. Don’t want him getting in trouble with the Corries again”, she laughed.

“Hey!”, Fives exclaimed with exaggerated offence, placing a hand on his chest.

“He told you about that huh?”, Rex said, shooting a threatening look towards the clone in question.

“He mentioned it. Thought I’d save you the headache and keep an eye on him till you got back”, she said jokingly.

“Thank you General”, he smiled.

“Oh, you have an eyelash on your cheek”, Lexie said as she reached her left hand to get it off. Rex’s brain short-circuited at the gentle touch of her soft fingers and his breath caught in his throat. “Make a wish and blow it away”.

“W-What?”, he asked uncertainly.

“You make a wish in your head and then you blow the eyelash away”, she explained with an innocent smile, holding her hand up close to his mouth, the eyelash visible on the tip of her index finger.

The Captain blinked in confusion a few times before reluctantly following her instructions. A soft puff of air left his lips and the eyelash was swept away from her finger. He heard a few snickers from around him and looked to the couch to see Echo and Fives struggling to hold in a laugh at the flustered expression on their captain’s face. Rex felt his face turn even redder.

“I hope your wish come true, Captain”, Lexie said light-heartedly, moving her hand away. Kix burst out laughing from behind her, causing the rest of the men to do the same, and she turned to look at them, brows furrowed in confusion and cheeks turning pink.

Rex cleared his throat and swallowed thickly. His mouth felt extremely dry. “If you don’t mind I will be going to bed. It’s been a tiring mission”, he announced.

“No, of course”, Lexie said, turning her head back to look at him.

“Oh come on, Rex, stay for a drink”, Hardcase said, upper part of his armor now scattered on the floor.

Rex shook his head. As much as he wanted to spend more time around Lexie, he really was exhausted and also filled with embarrassment after the little scene that just took place.

“See you at the debrief tomorrow, Captain”, she said.

Rex nodded and moved to walk away before stopping and turning back to face her again.

“You really look great, General. Blue suits you”, he told her with his half-smile.

“Thank you, Captain”, she returned the smile and watched him walk away.
