Some choices that Much Ado About Nothing (1993) made that absolutely delight me:

when Don John (Keanu Reeves) gives his villain speech shirtless, in fake leather pants and while he receives a vaguely homoerotic back massage from Conrad

the fact that absolutely everyone loves Beatrice so very much while they all seem to think that Benedick is a bit of a cringefail clown

when Benedick is absolutely unable to sit in that folding chair

that they made the whole thing so pastoral and kinda horny

great costume design. these little flaps that the military uniforms have at the butt? delightful

when they all get naked at the beginning for practically no reason and my sister said "it looks lik they're gonna have an orgy"

Not the part of the play where the Prince of Arragon, Don Pedro, just randomly proposes to Beatrice right in front of her uncle and she's like, "Nah, unless I can have a second, less expensive husband for the week. You're too rich to be married to every day."

No because like they're just...they're just a wholesome childhood friends to lovers slowburn I'm gonna rewatch like "aww you don't know yet".

They fell in love from ages 12-16(?). That's so cute. What the hell. I just randomly starting thinking about it like it's just some show I just heard about or something and I'm like "aw cute trope". What a cute trope wtf. That's adorable. Two twelve year old boys in the 80s and they fall in love over the course of many years as they grapple with internalized homophobia and homophobia in their small town? That sounds like a GREAT show where can I watch it? That's adorable.

Mike and Will are in love. And...that's just the premise. That's just the premise of their plot. If you came up to me after you watched episode 1 for spoilers and you were like "What happens to Lucas? Dustin? Mike? That girl they found? The kid who went missing?" I could just be like "Dustin gains confidence and becomes besties with Mike's sister's boyfriend after they break up, Lucas meets this girl who's introduced next season and they're really good for each other, the girl gets adopted by the police chief and then into the Byers and has a great found family and independence arc, and the boy who went missing survives and he and Mike fall in love!"

And that'd just be like...right. I'd just be telling you what happens.

--> your eat his heart on the marketplace note. Totally, it's so good and poignant in the Josie Rourke production and with DT's CT's acting choices! And to think that majority of the reviews for it, which I googled before watching for the first time, gave this production its due for entertainment factor but called it too slight and frothy

trulyyyyy. i think my favorite version of the "eat his heart in the marketplace" scene as a whole is actually the 2019 version w/ danielle brooks (it's more tonally consistent and serious and danielle's line delivery is so everything), but catherine's was the first version of it i watched and i was SO blown away by it like i rly fell in love w catherine as an actress right there <333 and god i could go on and on and on about how well the 2011 version portrays benedick in that scene too, like i really love how it's made crystal clear that he recognizes what's wrong and is willing to stand up for hero even without beatrice's urging - he already knows to defend her, but she needs to push him to actively stand up to don pedro and claudio (not my observation, but benedick starts to move to interrupt claudio's outburst at the wedding multiple times and is stopped by don pedro and UGHHH. it makes his challenge to claudio and resignation from don pedro's service hit so fucking hardddd) . like this is why i love the 2011 much ado so much it's not just that it's so accessible and easy to understand and funny, it's that there is so much thought being put into the details and the characterization and you will notice small things like that upon multiple rewatches

Just had an intense and visceral flashback to a 10th grade English assignment where we had to describe our ideal partner and attach a picture of our celebrity crush and I remember being so uncomfortable and confused like “what the—? People actually have celebrity crushes? That’s a real thing and not a joke? The hell???” So I arbitrarily chose a saber fencer who I was trying to model my form after at the time, but then I panicked and decided my extollation of his virtues didn’t seem convincingly smitten so I just didn’t complete that part of the assignment and accepted that I would get a 70% (which was basically equivalent to committing murder in the eyes of 15-year-old honors student Quin.) I did get an A somehow but my takeaways looking back are 1) what kind of person assigns that to a bunch of 15-year-olds? and 2) I really should have recognized my own asexuality a lot sooner
