#its been a hot second since i last played so i was doing the unfinished gold levels for prelude and act 1 as practice before jumping back#into trying to p rank and gold level act ii#it was just challenges and orbs in prelude and act i though so well lets just say. i did not practice much in terms of ultrakilling it#its fine though. the levels usually need to all be practiced individually so you learn the best path and weapons#so far my biggest flaw in coming back is not usong the knuckleblaster. i was starting to previously#alas. parry enjoyer#greed i actually did pretty good on. though i dont like it. wrath is gonna be. well. its gonna. “He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.” Psalm 40:3 I am sure many of us have witnessed two distinct ways of singing a song and playing an instrument; and one appears to be more of a gift or an acquired gift than the other. There is the soloist and musician who studies the notes and practices methodically until the…

my personal opinion, based on shannon’s age and eddie’s comments about enlisting, is that buck and eddie are super close in age but eddie is a little older, based on chimney’s comment. i think there’s no more than 1 year between them though, partly bc it makes the bartender in south america vs fighting in afghanistan thing more sad. i think some people see ryan being 4 years older than oliver (which he doesn’t look, that man has a baby face lol) and automatically make the characters reflect that
Yeah, I'm with you, I go back and forth with where I want Eddie's birthday to be, because with Shannon being from October 1992 and Buck is speculated to be from 1992 too, and I know a lot of people like to say Eddie is a Scorpio and Buck is a Cancer, and I like that interpretation, so I put Eddie being from November 1991 and Buck from July 1992, so sevenish months, but because I kept trying to work out a way for all of them to be in the same grade in a universe they go to the same school. I had a bit of let's make Eddie a Gemini and put them a month or so apart moment after death and taxes just because it would make for some funny interactions like: Eddie trying to get Buck to do something: I'm older than you. Buck exasperated: BY 27 DAYS. The thought made me giggle.
But my reasoning even before the tombstone was based on Chim saying they would both be 12 a decade before under pressure, and obviously that's an exaggeration but it is one that puts them in the same age group in my opinion, and also the you're not his elder comment that makes it clear that Eddie is somewhat older than Buck. But the thing that made me put Eddie as at most 28 when he's introduced is the way that enlisting because my girlfriend got pregnant is not a reaction of someone who's been out living in the real world for 4 to 5 years. That's very much a "I've been out of school for 6 months, I'm not going to college, my girlfriend got pregnant and the world got real over a positive sign on a plastic stick" reaction in my opinion, you know what I mean? So if I'm assuming Chris was an accident that happened with Eddie and Shannon fresh out of highschool, Buck and Eddie can't be that far from each other.
And I think you're right, I think most people latched onto the way Ryan is older and just decided that was true to Eddie too. Which is insane because the moment I realized that step up 4 was over 6 years before season 2, my first reaction was what the fuck, does he not age? Lol
#i say let Eddie be 27 in season 2#let my tragic man be more tragic#i did watch seasons 1 through 5a in 5 days so i was getting a lot of information in quick succession#the way i kept getting more context on the characters before any assumption had time to set in#did change the way i made assumptions about them#but i personally never understood the insistence that Eddie has to be 4 to 5 years older#i know Eddie acts older#but hes a single father#he had to deal with a lot more responsibility than Buck while making sure Chris had everything he needed#that ages a person#and with the added context of his parents expectations to be forced to be the man of the house as kid does mess with ones head#dude has trauma coming out of his ears and his reaction is the whole contained act#i think it makes perfect sense for him to be around the same age as Buck#i really need a tag for asks#anon 😌#911

How to Know Your Call to Ministry
How can you know your call to ministry is from the Lord? In the Bible, people such as Samuel (1 Sam 3:4-10) and Isaiah (Isa 6:8) experienced direct, audible calls from God. These instances left no doubt about the divine origin of call to ministry. However, these cases were unique and often accompanied significant shifts in God’s work in history. Today, God still calls people to ministry, but He…

Augh I hope it’s a bug and I can go back and figure it out next time I play but I literally just got to the grove, stood in front of Sazza, and clicked on Gale’s ! thinking it’d be the tavern story and instead he jumped right into talking about his condition. Gotta love the whole “we’ve been traveling for a while” when it’s been less than 24 hours in game, and only having 2 things on his list of reasons to trust me. My guy let me show off some more, rescue some children, then we’ll talk.

DIRK: Not quite.
DIRK: It's something a bit more important than that.
DIRK: We've made some good progress by now, so here. Let me show you something.
DIRK: Smell this Terezi?
DIRK: This is a panel.
TEREZI: OK4Y
DIRK: Can you tell what it's depicting?

DIRK: The panel is a drawing of me showing the panel to you.

DIRK: Now, what did I do there?
TEREZI: YOU DROPP3D 1T B4CK ON TH3 FLOOR 4G41N
DIRK: Yeah. But in the panel, I'm still just standing there holding it up.
DIRK: In order to communicate what I did to anyone watching, you'd need another panel to show the result.
DIRK: Or I suppose they could listen in on the conversation we're having right now, and infer that I dropped it from what we're saying. That would also work.
DIRK: In that case, the words provide the information that the picture would have done, without me having to pull a whole new panel out my ass just so that someone could confirm that yes, I did in fact drop the panel on the floor.

DIRK: So finding the right combination of words and pictures to communicate an idea efficiently is where the artistry lies.
DIRK: And sometimes that means dispensing with one or the other entirely when appropriate.

DIRK: Well, normally they are.
DIRK: And normally, those are the only people who would ever use them. A terminal's function is to act as a means of communication between two disparate parts of a time loop, a passage through which information can travel that aids in such a loop's successful completion.
DIRK: And within the context of the game, that's all they're used for.
DIRK: But beyond that, they're a convenient and effective means of subtle psychic suggestion at a distance.
TEREZI: 1T DO3SNT S33M 4LL TH4T SUBTL3 TO M3
DIRK: Well no, it's not.
DIRK: At least, not for us right now.
DIRK: But that's because your presence as a guiding influence has been revealed.
DIRK: Earlier, when I hadn't realized you were there, it was more difficult to discern.
DIRK: I could have gone on for quite a while, not realizing that the instructions were anything other than spontaneous ideas from my own imagination, if you hadn't gotten too greedy.

DIRK: Your personality bled through to an extent that was impossible to ignore, and so the spell was broken.

was thinking about this
To be in "public", you must be a consumer or a laborer.
About control of peoples' movement in space/place. Since the beginning.
"Vagrancy" of 1830s-onward Britain, people criminalized for being outside without being a laborer.
Breaking laws resulted in being sentenced to coerced debtor/convict labor. Coinciding with the 1830-ish climax of the Industrial Revolution and the land enclosure acts (factory labor, poverty, etc., increase), the Metropolitan Police Act of 1829 establishes full-time police institution(s) in London. The "Workhouse Act" aka "Poor Law Amendment Act of 1834" forced poor people to work for a minimum number of hours every day. The Irish Constabulary of 1837 sets up a national policing force and the County Police Act of 1839 allows justices of the peace across England to establish policing institutions in their counties (New York City gets a police department in 1844). The major expansion of the "Vagrancy Act" of 1838 made "joblessness" a crime and enhanced its punishment. (Coincidentally, the law's date of royal assent was 27 July 1838, just 5 days before the British government was scheduled to allow fuller emancipation of its technical legal abolition of slavery in the British Caribbean on 1 August 1838.)
---
"Vagrancy" of 1860s-onward United States, people criminalized for being outside while Black.
Widespread emancipation after slavery abolition in 1865 rapidly followed by the outlawing of loitering which de facto outlawed existing as Black in public. Inability to afford fines results in being sentenced to forced labor by working on chain gangs or prisons farms, some built atop plantations.
---
"Vagrancy" of 1870s-onward across empires, people criminalized for being outside while being "foreign" and also being poor generally.
Especially from 1880-ish to 1918-ish, this was an age of widespread mass movement of peoples due to the land dispossession, poverty, and famine induced by global colonial extraction and "market expansion" (Scramble for Africa, US "American West", nation-building, conquering "frontiers"), as agricultural "revolutions" of imperial monoculture cash crop extraction resulted in ecological degradation, and as major imperial infrastructure building projects required a lot of vulnerable "mobile" labor. This coincides with and is facilitated by new railroad networks and telegraphs, leading to imperial implementation or expansion of identity documents, strict work contracts, passports, immigration surveillance, and border checkpoints.
All of this in just a few short years: In 1877, British administrators in India develop what would become the Henry Classification System of taking and keeping fingerprints for use in binding colonial Indians to legal contracts. That same year during the 1877 Great Railroad Strike, and in response to white anxiety about Black residents coming to the city during Great Migration, Chicago's policing institutions exponentially expand surveillance and pioneer "intelligence card" registers for tracking labor union organizing and Black movement, as Chicago's experiments become adopted by US military and expanded nationwide, later used by US forces monitoring dissent in colonial Philippines and Cuba. Japan based its 1880 Penal Code anti-vagrancy statutes on French models, and introduced "koseki" register to track poor/vagrant domestic citizens as Tokyo's Governor Matsuda segregates classes, and the nation introduces "modern police forces". In 1882, the United States passes the Chinese Exclusion Act. In 1884, the Ottoman government enacts major "Passport Nizamnamesi" legislation requiring passports. In 1885, the racist expulsion of the "Tacoma riot".
Punished for being Algerian in France. Punished for being Chinese in San Francisco. Punished for being Korean in Japan. Punished for crossing Ottoman borders without correct paperwork. Arrested for whatever, then sent to do convict labor. A poor person in the Punjab, starving during a catastrophic famine, might be coerced into a work contract by British authorities. They will have to travel, shipped off to build a railroad. But now they have to work. Now they are bound. They will be punished for being Punjabi and trying to walk away from Britain's tea plantations in Assam or Britain's rubber plantations in Malaya.
Mobility and confinement, the empire manipulates each.
---
"Vagrancy" amidst all of this, people also criminalized for being outside while "unsightly" and merely even superficially appearing to be poor. San Francisco introduced the notorious "ugly law" in 1867, making it illegal for "any person, who is diseased, maimed, mutilated or deformed in any way, so as to be an unsightly or disgusting object, to expose himself or herself to public view". Today, if you walk into a building looking a little "weird" (poor, Black, ill, disabled, etc.), you are given seething spiteful glares and asked to leave. De facto criminalized for simply going for a stroll without downloading the coffee shop's exclusive menu app.
Too ill, too poor, too exhausted, too indebted to move, you are trapped. Physical barriers (borders), legal barriers (identity documents), financial barriers (debt). "Vagrancy" everywhere in the United States, a combination of all of the above. "Vagrancy" since at least early nineteenth century Europe. About the control of movement through and access to space/place. Concretizing and weaponizing caste, corralling people, anchoring them in place, extracting their wealth and labor.
You are permitted to exist only as a paying customer or an employee.

So I found out much later that this is actually A Thing! Look up the Pomodoro method, you should be able to find a video that keeps the timer for you, but I have a nifty clock that has prebuilt timers for 5, 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes! All you have to do is turn it on a different side (it's a hexagon) and it'll do the work for you!
Definitely start slow, and don't beat yourself up! Cleaning is a chore that is rarely taught but often required. If you don't know how to clean, that's okay, me neither!
If all else fails, focus on the Big Three: Laundry, trash, and dishes. You'd be surprised how often just taking care of those three will make the biggest difference.
Okay so here's what I've noticed helps me, a comorbid depressed/anxious/ADHD/Autistic person who has severe lifelong trauma from cleaning (ask at your own risk). This may or may not help you too, but it may help you develop techniques of your own.
Set a timer. Like deadass I start small, I clean for 15 minutes, I break for 15 minutes, I work for 30 minutes, I break for 15, I work for 45, I break for 15, and then I repeat the 45/15 minute alarms until I feel I can stop. I don't go above that because I want to 1, give my brain and body regular breaks and 2, I found working for an hour and breaking for 15 wasnt working for me. It was too long a block of time cleaning.
I tend to try and work section by section, but not in the way you'd think. I'll either work by piece of furniture or I'll clean in an immediate area. I won't do it by chore because I hate thinking I got all the laundry or all the dishes or all the garbage and then finding more. That's frustrating to me, which is why I'll break it down by furniture or section of floor.
I organize as I go along. Don't make organizing it's own chore, it'll make things so much more difficult in the long run. As I'm cleaning, I'll put all my books on or near my shelf, even if I'm not putting them away yet, I'll make sure things are close to where they're supposed to be in bags separated by the "interest" or "craft". Then I can put things away from there. It allows me to stay more in one place for the time being which keeps me more focused and also have less back pain from moving constantly.
Have multiple trash bags open. I don't know why this works but it does. I'll have four or five trash bags around my room, none of them will be close to full, and there's definitely no sorting of the trash.
Music for background noise, especially something with an energizing beat, to keep you going. Don't fall into the trap I did and put the tv on in the background because "it's a show I've watched several times now, I'll be able to tune it out" LIES! you will not be able to tune it out, you will get invested, and you will die (said the gym coach from Mean Girls [2004])
For the love of god do NOT use your bed as a flat surface to collect things. I have done this so many times. You need to have a safe island free from crap so that you can actually rest on your breaks. That is key to this whole thing, actually take and rest on your breaks.
I'm sure more will come to mind as I keep cleaning. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
#hey there hope ya didn't mind me cutting in here lol#if you have any questions about cleaning in general I'm happy to help!#my parents didn't teach me shit about cleaning and actually used to throw away entire trash bags of my personal belongings bc (1/2)#I didn't know how to clean! my adhd ass only saw Mess#and of course when you just see Mess you can't really pick apart what needs to be done because it's all under the umbrella of Mess#trust me when I say I've had many a problem with cleaning (and honestly still do as a 27 year old who has since moved out)#I'm being dead serious when I say proper cleaning and organizing techniques need to be TAUGHT and not ASSUMED KNOWLEDGE#because genuinely how can you expect a kid to clean when you haven't taken the time to work with them to pick up toys#cleaning is a SKILL it is not innate and I need parents to stop acting like all these skills they think are instinctual are NOT#you wouldn't tell your kid to ride a bike without teaching them right? why is cleaning different?#sorry I'm salty about a lot of stuff in my life lol
