I'm so glad we have the ACLU. Even if the Supreme Court is not the same one they dealt with before, it's still better than nothing, you know?
A Pragmatic and surprisingly comforting perspective about the Trump 2nd Presidency from the ACLU
***Apologies if this is how you found out the 2024 election results***
Blacked out part is my name.

I’m not going to let this make me give up. It’s disheartening, and today I will wallow, probably tomorrow too
AND
I will continue to do my part in my community to spread the activism and promote change for the world I want to live in. I want to change the world AND help with the dishes.
And I won’t let an orange pit stain be what stops me from trying to be better.
A link to donate to the ACLU if able and inclined. I know I am

https://action.aclu.org/reg-action/keep-trump-administrations-hands-our-data
The ACLU has set up a page to submit a demand that Biden make an exectuive order to prevent the government from buying people's data. This could be massive because if the Trump administration has that kind of access to people's information it could easily be used against people (like tracking people's periods to prevent them from getting abortions or targeting political opponents.)
I would also suggest just looking through the ACLU website in general and seeing what you can contribute to. Maybe make some posts of your own about them so they can get more support.

In a clear reaction to pro-Palestine protests, the House might pass legislation that would hand the government a dangerous tool to stifle free speech and punish disfavored groups. We must take action. This bill (H.R. 9495) gives the executive branch the authority to effectively dismantle any nonprofit organization it deems to have provided "material support" to terrorist groups and the potential for abuse under this law is staggering. We've already seen government officials conflate protesting students with Hamas or other terrorist groups. It isn't a stretch to imagine how this bill could be used to pressure universities to shut down student groups and further criminalize dissent in this country. Knowing the U.S. government's long history of abusive and discriminatory material support investigations and prosecutions in the post-9/11 era – disproportionately against Muslims and charities – we cannot allow this bill to pass. Tell your representatives to vote no on H.R. 9495.
As of ACLU's Instagram post 6 hours ago, the House could vote on this bill as early as TOMORROW, Tuesday, November 12th.
This bill "would give the incoming Trump administration a new tool they could use to stifle free speech, target political opponents, and punish groups that disagree with them."

The ACLU also has a form you can fill out to send a message to your representatives to put an end to this before Trump takes office. It only takes a few minutes to fill out.

Stop KOSA. KOSA just got passed through the House and More organizations even Twitter and Snapchat. Social media companies it aims to delete are coming out in support of it. This content creator has been covering KOSA for a long time. If you remember when AO3 was down how everyone freaked out. KOSA could take AO3 off the Internet. Could remove queer content online. The ACLU opposes it. It's unconstitutional call your Senators. Call your Representatives. Call everyone you can in power and tell them to oppose this bill. Sign petitions follow the link in that creators bio. Go to bad Internet Bills dot com and get call script or fax script for it. Contact the ACLU about suing states that support KOSA. We can still fight. End KOSA protect online safety!

hi im a transsexual living in NH. there have been many anti-trans & anti-LGBT bills suggested & passed already in 2024. another round of voting will be taking place TOMORROW (FRIDAY APRIL 5TH) for FIVE different bills. if you or anyone you know would be willing to write or call to NH state senators, i would so greatly appreciate that
new hampshire already has a bad reputation for being the "least trans friendly" part of new england. don't let that mindset reach others—this is where i live. this is where i grew up. this is where i am transitioning. i have trans loved ones here. our state motto is "live free or die." that includes living free as a trans person
click this link to go to the ACLU of NH to fill out an email to NH senators against the anti-trans bills that will be discussed tomorrow
more information on the bills from the ACLU of NH site is below

This is so true. And remember you personally cannot do/prevent everything. Pick your personal battle grounds and trust/encourage others to pick up the slack in other areas. Do your part!
Project 2025 ain't gonna roll out all at once. So what we're gonna wanna do is make passing each individual part of it as difficult as possible, so there's less to undo once we finally get this country back on the rails.

Despair and resignation are not a strategy. At the ACLU, we’re choosing to channel our fear into action. Together, we are powerful enough to change the course of our nation’s history and defend our most fundamental rights and freedoms. That is why the ACLU has a concrete plan to fight back. When President-elect Trump comes for our communities, he’s gotta through all of us.
During Trump’s first term, the ACLU filed 434 legal challenges against his administration, successfully blocking some of Trump’s most egregious policies, like the Muslim ban and separating immigrant families. When Trump once again set his sights on the White House, the ACLU’s legal and advocacy experts drafted a roadmap to combat his administration head-on.

[Images 1-3 ID: Screenshots of an email from the ACLU, reading
The results of the election are in: Donald Trump will be the 47th President of the United States.
I know these results create fear for many, particularly those whose communities have been most targeted and threatened by the President-elect’s extreme rhetoric and policy proposals. If President-elect Trump comes for our communities, he’s gotta get past all of us.
President-elect Trump has been crystal clear about his plans to deport one million immigrants every year and target the enemy within – which, for Trump, means anyone who disagrees with him. He is dead serious about seeking retribution against his political opponents and deploying federal law enforcement to shut down protests and muzzle dissent. Guided by Project 2025, we are sure he will try to make good on those promises.
He and the administration officials he will put in place will work to attack the rights of LGBTQ people, implement archaic and cruel immigration policies, undermine press freedoms, and make it harder for Americans to vote.
It is not hyperbolic to say that this president presents a clear and present danger to our democracy.
.
But here at the ACLU, we’re clear-eyed about the chaos and destruction a second Trump administration will cause to our nation. We’re done with the hand wringing. We won’t be admiring this problem. Instead, we are ready to take action the minute Trump takes the oath of office.
The fact is, we’re familiar with fighting a Trump White House.
One week into Trump’s first presidency, we were the first organization to challenge his Muslim ban. And when the administration sought to include a citizenship question on the 2020 census, the ACLU took that fight to the Supreme Court and won. It was our litigation that stopped the inhumane practice of separating immigrant families at the border.
The ACLU filed 434 legal actions against the first Trump administration’s illegal and cruel actions – and we are prepared to fight again with the organization’s full firepower.
There is not a doubt in my mind that the ACLU is ready to meet this moment:
.
We have a detailed playbook that breaks down exactly how to fight Trump’s Project 2025 agenda.
We have plans in place to litigate, legislate, and mobilize for reproductive freedom, immigrants’ rights, LGBTQ rights, racial justice, and all civil rights and liberties – in the courts, in Congress, and in the streets.
We have a nationwide network of affiliates that uniquely enables us to take our fights local and build firewalls against the worst of Trump’s policies in every state across America.
Quinn, here at the ACLU, we play the long game. We’ve been around for 105 years. We’ve seen 19 presidents come and go. With your support, we will vigorously defend your right to protest and speak against our government. Especially when that government attacks our civil liberties and civil rights.
The next four years will be challenging, but we’ll be ready on day one. You can count on it. We’re counting on you, too.
In solidarity,
Anthony Romero Pronouns: He, him, his ACLU Executive Director

Yes, I am an ardent hater of today's "if you feel powerless, don't forget that you can donate :))) even though you can barely feed yourself :)))" culture, where the average person has no power or agency to fight for what they believe in beyond stumping up cash.
Yes, I am going to remind y'all anyway that the American Civil Liberties Union is there to fight for your rights and they could use your support if you have any to spare. If you subscribe to their newsletter they send you regular updates on what they're doing to fight Drumpf and his force of fascist fuckwits.
