@jegulus-microfic, June 10th - Achieve, G, Word Count - 287
James wasn't good at potions.
It's not that he didn't know what he was doing. Every paper he turned in had received incredibly high marks. He raised his hand often in class.
He knew wasn't the academics, he knew how the ingredients reacted with each other, the uses, the history.
What screwed him over was the practical part. James was never good with waiting and stirring and adding a dash of this, and a sprinkle of that and then waiting some more, stirring some more, and repeating for the entire period.
It was boring and James had this mindset that he could achieve a record or some sort of brewing the potion the fastest.
So, Professor Slughorn set him up with a tutor. Someone to help James with the more practical part of the class.
Maybe it was working. I mean, James wasn't starting fires in class anymore and his draught of peace actually managed to calm someone down.
During these sessions though, he wasn't focused on improving his grades, no. What James was focused on was impressing his tutor.
Regulus Black was rude. James knew that, they had met in passing before and Regulus was not hiding that fact.
But the first time James had properly brewed doxycide (after 3 sessions), Regulus had actually complimented him. James wasn't sure why he felt so warm after he had praised him. He knew though, that being complimented like that (by him) was something he wanted more of.
So he tried harder during the sessions. Put in more effort. Exercised a little more patience. Tried not to get distracted by his cute tutor.
So when he found out that Regulus liked him back? Tutoring became his favourite time of the week.

june 10 - achieve - @jegulus-microfic - word count: 250
It has always been expected of Regulus to achieve something every month. Whether it was an award, or a girl, or even a test grade, his success contributed to his already wealthy status in Hogwarts.
That’s how it was, a hierarchy. Though Hogwarts has always proven to be diverse and equal, some take advantage of the rules and regulations that try to keep things under control.
Of course, Regulus’s parents didn’t know what progress he had achieved since a couple months ago. With his beloved, secret boyfriend, James.
He had finally gotten comfortable with touch and affection, even stealing kisses in the hallways. James was noticeably proud and very happy as he skipped through the halls like a golden retriever.
Now, he was ready for something more. Hand holding. In front of his friends.
James watched him with a confused expression, for Regulus had zoned out mid walk. He held out his hand, decorated with gold rings and a silver bracelet. “Ready?”
Regulus nodded, taking James’s hand in his. With a determined (and neutral) look, he walked down the hallways with his boyfriend.
Evan Rosier, Pandora Rosier, and Barty Crouch Jr watched as the pair passed them with raised brows. Pandora giggled, Evan held out his hand with a smirk, and Barty shoved his hand in his pocket, rummaged through, and handed Evan five galleons. All James and Regulus did was walk by, letting out a breath of relief.
Oh boy, Regulus wouldn’t hear the end of it, would he?

Prompt 10 - Achieve
@jegulus-microfic June 10, Word count 499
Previous part First part
Regulus was trying to enjoy his breakfast. The bacon was a bit crispier than he would have liked, but he was blaming Marlene for that. He liked Marlene, he really did, but in small doses and preferably when Sirius wasn’t around, but as she was Sirius’s friend, that tended not to happen.
“I still can’t get over that you all met on holiday. It’s just crazy.” Marlene said around a mouthful of scrambled eggs. Regulus tried not to gag at the sight.
“I know right,” Sirius grinned with an equally full mouth of eggs. Honestly, if he hadn’t known his parents so well, he would have sworn Sirius and Marlene were twins.
“I mean, I kinda get Reggie and Jamie but Dr Lupin? That one is wrinkling my brain.” Regulus looked at James, who seemed to be thoroughly enjoying himself. He turned to Remus. He was not.
“You can call me Remus, Marlene. We’re not at the surgery,” Remus said stiffly.
“Marlene?” Regulus asked. “Why are you even here?” He realised that she hadn’t actually said once they’d been wrapped up in the chaos. She paused, and her mouth dropped open.
“OH MY GOD!!! How did I forget?” She let her knife and fork clatter onto her plate before she slammed her hands down on the table, rattling everything else. “You all know how I strive to achieve greatness?!” A collection of groans sounded around the table. “I shall take that as a yes.” She shook her head at them. “Well as of last night, I am an engaged woman!” She thrust out her left hand and showed off the sparkly engagement ring wrapped around her ring finger.
“Holy crap!” Sirius jumped out of his chair and tackled her to the ground. “Marlene, that’s amazing! Regulus go get the champagne!” He exclaimed as he and Marlene rolled around on the floor in their bear hug.
“Sirius, it’s 9 o’clock in the morning,” Regulus stated.
“Well, mix it with orange juice and call it Bucks Fizz. Either way, we are opening a bottle,” Sirius ordered. Reluctantly, Regulus went down to the cellar and grabbed one of the bottles. James was getting glasses out of the cupboard and setting them on the counter for Regulus to fill when he returned to the kitchen. He carefully popped the cork out with a good pop and filled the glasses.
“To Marlene and Dorcas!” Sirius toasted, raising his glass high in the air.
“To Marlene and Dorcas!” They chorused back.
“Where is Dorcas?” James asked.
“Crap!” Marlene gasped. She downed her glass and ran out of the room. “I left her in bed!” The door slammed shut, and the house was quiet.
“Why was she so worried about leaving her fiancé in bed?” Remus questioned as he took a sip from his drink. Sirius and James both snorted and quickly tipped their glasses up.
“Don’t ask,” Regulus warned as he refilled his glass and topped everyone else’s up. Remus wisely didn’t press the matter.

Prioritize your priorities, not your schedule. 🎯
Too often, we fill our days with tasks that are urgent but not important. This can lead to feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and unfulfilled.
Instead, take some time to reflect on what is truly important to you. What are your goals? What do you want to achieve in your life? Once you have a good understanding of your priorities, you can start to schedule your time accordingly.
This may mean saying no to some commitments or delegating tasks to others. It may also mean blocking off time in your calendar for the things that are most important to you, such as working on your goals, spending time with loved ones, or taking care of yourself.
When you prioritize your priorities, you are more likely to achieve your goals and live a more fulfilling life.

Look upon your desires - all of them - as the spoken word of God, and every word or desire as a promise. Give thanks for it to the point that you are grateful for having already received it – then go about your way in peace. For when you drop the thing desired in consciousness, confident that it shall appear, you have done all that is expected of you.

#15: Warming Up to the Idea
Prompt: Freee day! (Achieve)
Illian leaned over the temperature control panel that he’d nearly finished embedding into the wall, screwdriver in hand. He was fairly certain he would have to adjust the crystals below the floor once he finished this step and turned it on, as he’d used a modified version of the one he had in his own workspace. Now that he’d had sufficient time to test it, he’d slowly started installing these temperature controls in other places around Highvale Manor. This particular unit was for the kitchen–specifically, the larder. If he could get it to keep a consistently cold temperature, then they could store more in the space while using significantly less ice crystals. Thankfully, they’d just cleaned it out and moved the contents they were keeping to a temporary cooler, so if this didn’t work, at least things wouldn’t spoil. Still, he was fairly sure it would.
He finished the panel’s install, and then went to double-check the wires he’d attached to the regulator below. The only differences in this setup was the lack of switch from warm to cold and the presence of two ice crystals instead of an ice and fire crystal from which to draw aspected aether. Once he was certain all of the connections were in place, he moved back outside the larder and began to press buttons on the panel. Setting it to freezing temperatures, he confirmed his choice, and then tipped his head to listen.
When he heard the tell-tale whir of the fans, he smiled and rounded back into the larder to feel in front of the three ducts along the top of the wall with his bare fingers. Satisfied with the cold air pushing into the room, he covered the floor panel and then walked out and closed the door.
“What’s for lunch, Khalan?” he asked, and the cook–an older dark-skinned Miqo’te woman with silvery streaks in her pulled-back dark hair–turned her tea-green eyes toward him. A smile lit her face.
“Oh, done already, are ya? That was quick!” She was already pulling out a plate and setting it on the counter. “Popoto crisps are almost done, and I could build ya a sandwich ahead of the rest of ‘em.”
“I’d appreciate that,” Illian said, swinging his leg over one of the stools that usually went unused at the kitchen counter. Most people ate in the dining room, and Rath seemed to vacillate between eating with his staff and taking his meals privately. It really depended on whether or not he was absorbed in a task.
As Khalan built his sandwich, the pair chattered about different things that he could improve around the kitchen. The device he’d made to mix ingredients for baked goods had saved her aging arms many aches, but her knuckles were starting to get knobby and stiff.
“Should we be looking into getting you an apprentice, or an assistant, to take over when you finally decide to retire?” he asked, not bothering to hide his concern.
“Oh, you know me and my kitchen,” she replied.
And he did. He’d once tried to help her prepare a meal, and gotten the biggest lecture of his life for it. M’rath was banned from using it, and he’d floated the idea of an assistant or apprentice several times with no luck. He gave her a nod as she loaded up some of the finished crisps onto a plate and then finished his sandwich, sliding the food over to him.
“At least have Lord Highvale look at your hands,” he implored, before crunching into his first crisp and biting back a groan of happiness.
“That, I’ll do,” she replied, turning back toward the stove to pull out the last tray of crisps and set them out to cool. “At my age, I wouldn’t terribly mind an extra set of hands–ah, but they've got to be capable! Not somebody like you coming in to help!”
“Firstly, rude,” he said around a bite from his sandwich. “Secondly, you’re right; I’m not an experienced cook, unless you count campfire meals.”
“Which I don’t. If you’re going to insist on hiring me an assistant, then I need to test them.” She eyed Illian with a stern expression, placing both hands on her soft hips.
“I’ll talk to him about it, and we will bring any prospective candidates to you. I promise.” It was an assurance that he could keep, and as he watched her nod and go to grab the tongs, moving slower than she used to, he thought that perhaps he should initiate that process sooner rather than later.
When he was done eating, he checked on the larder’s temperature, delighted to find that it had chilled to the temperature he’d set. Supplying Khalan with instructions to monitor the panel every half bell and report any fluctuations to him, he set off back through the manor to attend his other duties. Nothing else was going to give him the satisfaction of convincing Khalan to entertain the idea of someone else sharing her kitchen, but they had to be done nonetheless.

Learning
I have always believed that learning more was a mission as I am sure that the more I will know, the better I will be able to help, serve, and take care of those I follow and support. Learning is an activity that gives impressive results when done with attention and commitment. And the positive thing is that we can learn from everyone and everything, every single moment of our lives. Image taken…
