AI, Non-hassle-free Flights, and the Joy of Children's Ministry
My first time being a resource speaker was in a group of ten college students, more or less. Also, I wrote about it here in my WordPress entitled May 16, 2015, and this is the link: May 16, 2015 Anyway, that experience was nerve-wracking but challenging and experiential. That time, I actually prayed for more similar opportunities, and October 26 and 27, 2024 happened. This time, I was not…

A song I wrote for my Awana T&Ters for Matt 22:37 which is part of the message in Agents of Grace 2:4 I believe. An encouragement to NOT love Jesus with a little bit, but your ALL.
I hope this blesses you and your kids.
Lyrics
Love Him with my All Not gonna love him with a smidgenfull Not gonna love him with a little pinch Not gonna love him with just a tad Not gonna love Him with a half an inch. Not gonna love him with a thimbleful Not gonna love Him with a quarter cup Not gonna love him with a half teaspoon I’m gonna love Him till I’m all used up! Chorus: I’m gonna love him with my HEART! I’m gonna love Him with my SOUL! I’m gonna love Him with my MIND and STRENGTH I’m gonna love Him till I lose control! Because He gave it all for ME! Because of Him, I have been set FREE! So whether I will stand or fall, I have heard the Spirit’s call, I’m gonna Love Him with my ALL! Not gonna love Him for a teensy bit Not gonna love Him for an hour or two Not gonna love Him for an afternoon Not gonna love Him till my face turns blue Not gonna love Him till I’m really bored Not gonna EVER tire of Christ my LORD! Not gonna love Him with a lukewarm smile Not gonna love Him for a little while! Chorus (2x): (spoken): So, what about YOU!? Chorus2: So will you love him with your HEART? So will you love Him with your SOUL? So will you love Him with your MIND and STRENGTH? So will you love Him till you lose control? Because He gave it all for YOU! Because of Him, you’ve been set FREE TOO! So whether we will stand or fall, We have heard the Spirit’s call, We’re gonna Love Him with our ALL!

if you were lucky enough to avoid it and you don’t know what i’m talking about congrats, but this is what i used for AWANA as a kid. I could never remember to memorize verses during the week so i would have like thirty minutes to memorize and recite 25-100 word verse. i would but then to tunes to try and link them together and it just really depended on if it was poetry and if the fucking New King James Version translated it in a poetic way. six years of that bullshit. but i fucking did hundreds of those.
do you need to memorize something? very, very quickly? here is my adhd way to memorize in a few hours
disclaimer: do not use this all the time. you will perform better and be more confident in your abilities if you memorize slowly over several days/weeks. i simply forgot that i needed to memorize something and decided to share with the masses. also if you dont do well under pressure this wil Not work for you
separate your work into lines. poems have done this for you, but if its not a poem (something like a theatrical monologue), every sentence is a good place to start
start with the first line OR the last line. you want to go only in one direction. i personally prefer to start at the beginning, but youre your own person
repeat that line over and over and over until you can repeat it without looking at the source material. somethings that help with this - handwriting the line over and over, typing also works but doesnt work as well; listening to the line, especially if it has rhythm like a song or a poem; reading it while speaking it out loud, the importance of auditory + visual input cannot be understated
move on to the next line. repeat just the next line by itself over and over until you get it down, then put the two together.
do that over and over again until you get about halfway through, then try to just do that section a few extra times so that your brain relates everything to each other. this is a practice of getting your brain to make relations between the phrases, so each one is a cue line in your brain
now just kinda keep going until youve made it through the whole piece. great! now keep repeating it. keep looking at it if necessary, but you dont want to have to rely on reading it, not only because thats not the point of memorization, but because it will make your reading sound dull
congrats, it took you a few hours to memorize something! thats quicker than before! ive used this for plays, musicals, poems, monologues, pretty much anything that needs memorization & performance.
good luck and godspeed

i did a full volunteer shift today at the food pantry and the pastor sent me home with vegan cheese, a pack of beyond burgers, and gluten free vegan bread flour 🥺 🩷 one thing is tho it's a very faith based food bank and im not religious and im LGBT but honestly? as someone who grew up in a Christian environment and going to various churches and youth groups and awana, ive never been in such a welcoming church environment. i really like everyone im helping and working with. hopefully i can stay incognito and pretending to be Christian so i can keep helping them and my community

The realization that has made writing kid Philip work for me is that it does feel very important that he have mostly fit in at home, which you think would be antithetical to giving him some of the "unsettling small child" vibes that really conjure up Belos even in a six year-old, but it isn't actually, he just happened to be born in Puritan New England where being an oddly quiet and grim/fatalistic child whose idea of a good time was memorizing and then reciting Bible verses made the adults around him go "Ah, little Philip Wittebane is such an obedient, pious child, he'll go far someday" instead of ????
Absolutely bizarre vibes in the present-day, unless maybe you are at an Awana camp, but wouldn't raise any particular red flags in the 1600s, which lets me have my authorial cake and eat it too with making him both normal and... not.
