#Whole Chicken Leg

Had to make a trip to our office in Johor Bahru, Malaysia with my colleagues. Was invited to lunch with him and another colleague from the Malaysia office. He brought us to Awana Asian Kitchen which occupied two shop units. We walked pass the open dining area and straight to the air-conditioned section. My other colleague ordered the Nasi Beriani Ayam (RM12.80) or Chicken Biryani in English. The chicken is cooked rendang style with long grain basmati rice and served with pickled vegetables, papadam and curry gravy.

Asked my Malaysian colleague what he usually ordered here and he told me Nasi Ayam Penyet (RM12.80). The dish came with a fried whole chicken leg, tempeh, mushroom, bean curd and rice along with raw long bean sections, cucumber and cabbage plus sambal chilli. The chicken is fresh off the wok and is so tender and juicy with crispy savoury skin. I love everything on the bamboo serving dish except the raw and hard long beans.

Happy spent almost 12 hours at uni today to me :)

We had Japanese woodcut workshops today and oh was it fun but my prints look so.... bad that I don't really want to show them. End it with working on your ceramics project till they turn off the lights in the hallway. All running on a banana and a few chocolate egg bonbons.

So I'm covered in wood splinters and clay dust today and I just wanna lay down flat on the floor now :''3

Mum braised this deskinned whole leg of chicken with shiitake mushrooms and garlic cloves in five-spice and dark soya sauce. She also stir-fried a dish of cabbage, mushroom, prawn, minced pork and tomato for Dinner.

You guys…my plans to go to Atlantic City just fell through…this is primarily devastating because I’ve been obsessed with the Bruce Springsteen song of the same name for like two months rather than disappointing re: the actual contents of the city in New Jersey lol

Personal question! What is your all time favorite meal and why? Is there nostalgia attached to it? Or is it a safe food that brings you comfort?

I don't think I have a favorite meal?? Tbh I've never been super into food you could say that I am very particular. But I do love turkey and chicken. I think I'd consider them "my favorite"

i would do anything for my cousins children. ignore that one of them dug his fingernails into my hand until it broke skin. hes only 2 and i deserved it for betraying his trust by stopping him from choking on a lego piece.
