Hmmmm.... I might go for unpopular opinion, but I really liked the The Sorrows of Werlyt questline. It felt very different from other questlines we've seen, very dark for the game in general. It also helped me in particular since my oc Marji hatesss Gaius' guts so it was nice to see the other side of things and why Gaius would be considered a great leader at all. Being able to flesh him out meant I got better material to write her hatred haha. Overall the story did what it needed to do; it was sad, it was creepy, it was haunting on how children can become child soldiers and just zealots for Garlemald. Do I wish Gaius got a little more comeuppance in his blindness to his superiors? Sure, but overall I wished we got some darker elements like that more often. Thanks for the ask @ffxivtribehydrae !

So there's something I want to say re: intentionally withholding your vote, and I want to do it without coming across as condescending or dismissive.

I've worked as a field organizer in two campaigns, 2010 and 2012, and my job was to help turnout the vote for Democratic candidates up and down the ticket. Technology may have changed, but people are still knocking on doors for specific voters the way they were 12 years ago.

If you say you're not voting/voting 3rd party, the campaign volunteer is supposed to mark that and move on. Their job, in the final month of the election, is to make sure the campaign's supporters have all the information and resources they need to cast a vote.

They aren't collecting data on why you're withholding your vote. They aren't submitting opinion polling results to the campaign. Something like 155 million people voted in the 2020 election, and if you say you're not voting, the campaign is not going to waste a volunteer's time and morale begging you to vote when there are literally millions of other voters to turn out.

Let me repeat that: The campaign does not track why you're not voting. They simply note your vote is not a priority for turnout and move on.

I say this because I see a lot of promotion of non-voting like that's a boycott, when the function is not the same. A boycott is a coordinated mass refusal to engage with an institution—which sounds similar if you see a vote as a good or service to withhold. Unfortunately, it's not.

A vote is a choice you're making as part of a community hiring committee. Your abstention doesn't prevent someone from being hired. It just lowers the threshold for the worst candidate to succeed.

All this to say: In my direct experience as an organizer, abstaining from the vote sends a message. That message is not "You need to try harder to win my vote." It's "Don't waste time on me."

This isn't within the crew, but I really really love the dynamics of individual crew members with the dad's

🤔What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?

🛠Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now?

🤡 because it's easiest: at least 11, maybe more.

🤔 I'm thinking about a Mass Effect Shiara fic (FemShep) where it's the Mummy. Shepard is Rick, Liara is Evelyn, and either Tali, Wrex, or Garrus is Johnathan. And I have an Avatrice fic in mind where Ava "corrupts" Beatrice. Umm...I have Legend of Korra song fics I should write that are part of a series. Maybe a new Xena fic because I haven't written one forever. And honestly, maybe a Captain Marvel/Valkyrie fic. No solid ideas there, though.

🛠 I am having the biggest struggle writing two different things. One is in an Avatrice fic where Bea is grappling with her sexual identity and how divinity (Ava) affects her beliefs. The other is a Shiara fic where Liara and Shepard reconnect after the LotSB mission and I need it to be equal bits ridiculous and serious. Like, I made myself cry writing part of it, but some of the silly is *too* silly, if you feel me.

your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores The Sidequests! There's some genuinely good world building in those little yellow markers. I've been writing down everything that happens in side quests for funsies and some of them really change the way I thought about the areas. For example since I just completed them all, in the ARR areas at Fallgourd float there's almost a mini episode pertaining to the MSQ at the time. During those quests I believe you're investigating a masked man, one you think might be whoever that guy was in Toto-rak, scaring the smallfolk. Depending on if the quest was available before or after you find out the towns people are either jumpy over the masked person and afraid to leave the Bobbing Cork, or they're relieved that the mystery was solved and are trying to get back to normal. Stuff like that is nice to me and its something I've been avoiding for a long, long time. Go figure its one of my favorite bits to do now. Thanks for the ask @wrong-constantine!

Among the other things that seem to pop out of nowhere, I hear that Harris is apparently "very pro-cop" as a reason why we shouldn't vote for her. I would like some clarification about that and also maybe reasons why we should be voting for her, just for the naysayers.

The Kamala cop thing comes from her jobs as San Francisco District Attorney and California Attorney General, and the fact that Kamala and Cop have a kind of ring to them.

the fact that Harris had worked on enforcing the law was used against her in the height of "Defund the Police" but ultimately was pretty unfair, just quickly I found an article from a public defender about Harris progressive record to be short as both DA and AG she fought to scale back incarceration, she refused to seek the death penalty, she wouldn't prosecute marijuana possession cases (back in 2004), as DA along with then Mayor of San Fran Gavin Newsom she took part in the city's short lived gay marriage moment in 2004

here she is in 2004 marrying a nice Lesbian couple, over 10 years before gay marriage would be legal nation wide and 8 years before President Obama announced her supported it.
