Kiryu is so funny as a character to me because I really relate to him a fair amount and I kinda love him but I also kinda hate him lmaoooo. Like Majima and Nishiki make me so mentally ill and I cry and scream and weep and lust for them and they both love Kiryu so much (in different ways) and I guess like...in a way I’m jealous of Kiryu?? Every time I see art of him with one of them I’m like ‘it should be ME’. He’s a kind and well-meaning man (bear in mind I’ve only played 0 and Kiwami so far) but like.....he’s so fuckin’ annoying. Sometimes he just pisses me OFF and I’m like “I don’t CARE about you, Kiryu!!!!” I don’t give a shit about him!!!! But like, can I truly be a Majima or Nishiki fan and NOT care about him? Cause I do like him. I love him and Haruka’s bond, like I say, I relate to him, but just....God, Kiryu, things would be so much easier if I hated you (omg Nishiki moment). I relate to that lumbering autistic moron so much and I fuckin hate him for it and he is my good friend and I am going to punch him in the face

Very tough to be trans when u have a people pleasing personality (working on it) because it feels like everyone is mad at you all of the time.

Umemiya

I think Umemiya would be the jealous type. He fully trust you. Of course he doesn't like to see you being to friendly with other guys.

He makes very clear you're his and his is yours.

One day you guys were outside doing some shopping when a friend of yours came say hi to you. Since you guys were close you started speaking about a common interest of yours.

You started laughing while Umemiya was watching the scene. Of course at first he didn't mind that much but seeing you laugh like to another guy joke made him a bit angry.

That's when he decided to put his arm around you shoulder and introduce himself as your boyfriend. It was still friendly but with a touch of back up dude.

After that your friend left and you couldn't help yourself but to start laughing at Umemiya behavior.

It was jealousy but a cute one. You spend your time teasing him about that.

He had no problem to admit he was jealous if he feels that's way why denied it?

You spend your afternoon your arm hugging his arm.

Taiga

100%jealous. Dont know why i just feel it.

Would be the type of guy to give guys would talk to you the bombastic side eyes.

But towards you he would never admit it.

One day you guys were at the gym when a guy approached you. At first it was to ask if the machien was taken but then you started to talk.

Taiga turn around with a big smile to talk to you when he saw the guy. At that moment he lost his smile.

He walks toward you and hug you from behind while looking at the guy. He let you finish your conversation but not let go of you.

After a few minutes the guy finally leaves cause well the death glance of your boyfriend wasn't very welcoming.

After that he asked if you were ready to leave. So you guys leave.

While you were walking you decided to ask the final question aka are you jealous?

I think he would blush a bit before saying no which was obviously a lie. You spent the whole time teasing you he finally decided to buy you food so you would shut about it.

Sakura

The most jealous one. Baby would be so scared to loose you. He thinks you deserve better than him but he doesn't want you to leave.

Never admit he was jealous. It will hurt his pride so much.

One day you guys were coming back from school. You are not from the same school but he went pick you up.

While he was being praised by the neighborhood a guy approached you and started talking to you.

He came directly behind you looking at the guy and told him to get off.

You weren't even friendly with him or stuff like that but Sakura doesn't like you talking to people he s just so scared to loose you and doesn't know how to tell you.

While walking you started laughing and explaining to him that the guy just asked you the direction.

His face went red and he be saying stuff like "I'm not jealous huh"

Suo

Suo wouldnt be the jealous type like I think he would be chill about you talking to other guys cause he trusts you and he trust your relationship.

But one time just one time you were friendly with someone and he did not like it.

You and your boyfriend went out side just to take a little walk.

It was a nice moment when Suo told you he comeback and then procede to go inside a store.

You were waiting outside on your phone when an old friend of yours went to see you.

Neither of you expect to see each other again but here you are catching up after all this.

You started talking about old times laughing about some stuff you did back then. At this moment Suo came back with a bag in his arm.

When he saw you laughing with a guy he didn't seem to mind that much but when you gave your phone to him he couldn't help but to feel jealous.

Jealous was not one his usual feeling but this one was to much. He went beside you put his hand on your waist making you closer to him and introduced himself not worth his name but just with the fact his your boyfriend nothing more.

After that your friend left and you explained the whole situation to Suo who started to apologize.

Kiryu

He wouldn't be the jealous time but time to time he would be a bit jealous. I mean he just want you to give him all your attention.

But for the one who are brave or stupid enough to trying to get close to you are dead.

In fact he would reject them in such a gentleman way it would be humiliating for the guy.

One time you guys were at the arcade like usual when a guy went talk to you. Which was very stupid cause Kiryu was just beside you as always.

This man starting to talk to you and you answered with a smile on the face cause well you are very polite person.

But the conversation was kinda awkward cause the man didn't even acknowledge Kiryu who was just there.

After a moment Kiryu just took you hand and told the guy something like my lady needs something and just walk away.

You started to poke his cheeks asking him if he was jealous. He just hugged you so tight you didn't need an answer you already knew.

The second you mentioned it, the idea bloomed into his mind. He knows how to be with you so when you mentioned that you were going to try a new recipe : he knew it was his time.

You always want to know what he thinks about it, and so all the boys around him by extension. But this time he told you that hell passed by to try them, which isn't usual but not a surprise either. So you didn't mind.

Your mom opened the door for you when you heard the bell ring, since you were still busy, before leaving you two alone in the kitchen. You couldn't wait for him to taste it. You were sure that it would be perfect this time.

"Hey !" His voice behind you made you jump a little even if you were waiting for it, but in a good way.

You turned around with a big smile before it fell into a puzzle expression. Then you covered your mouth as you gasped, not fully realizing what was happening.

Kiryu was standing in front of you, a lazy yet satisfied smile on his lips as he handed you a small bouquet of fresh flowers. It didn't take him long to notice the tears in your eyes and before you could even say anything, he was holding you close.

"Don't cry even if it's from happiness, it's only normal for me to do that." He reassured, before you could even argue and shut you down for sure with a kiss.

"Just accept it. And let me try that new recipe, it's already my favorite cake."

its sooo sick that nishiki ended up being more like kazama than kiryu ever was.

really, kiryu isnt like kazama at all. he holds the same ideals, but its different. kazama never really practiced what he preached until it was too late (i.e saving haruka, helping yumi further down the line)

kazama is one of the most interesting characters, similar to sawashiro (though sawashiros rottenness is more my taste tbh)(i want to make a post abt my thoughts on ichi and sawashiro soon.. i think theres alot to say abt their very complicated relationship, writing to akane about him while also calling him a dumbass and threatening to kill him is so funny)(“dear akane today i tried to chop off ichis finger and called him a dumbass punk, kids today, huh”). i think hes too greedy, he wants his cake and wants to eat it too. he tells kiryu to leave yumi and nishiki alone. he leaves kiryu in the dark about things, ik thats a gameplay aspect but i still think it speaks to his greed. he doesnt want kiryu to think of him negatively (he cuts kashiwagi off when he brings up his past assassinations). he wants to be a father but doesnt know how to. you say he tries his best to disuade the orphans from swearing up? not true. if he really wanted to stop them from joining he wouldnt have been around at all. he didnt have to visit him, he wanted to, out of guilt, out of regret, doesnt matter his intentions, at the end of the day him being there and playing father led kiryu and nishiki both to join. though, kiryu joined out of admiration, and nishiki? like kazama, joined because of his guilt. they paid for yukos medical bills, what else could he do?

kiryu was all the things kazama wanted to be, but nishiki? he was all the things kazama was. I still dont think they had a father-son relationship, its more.. complicated, messy, the worst type of relationship two unfamiliar yet similar men could have. yet at the same time, nishikis is his fathers son.

their greed, insecurity, shame, kazamas struggle to take control of his life, nishikis final act of doing things his own way… much to think abt.

♡ive been deprived of details about ignis' family / uncle so ive been thinking of a few things. so like, what if ignis and his uncle had a similar dynamic to how kiryu and haruka had back in kiwami? the man is compelled to take in the child of his loved one and along the way the two make a family of their own together. i think it's sweet. its kinda like a slow burn but for family. 

♡the uncle (imma name him stupeo for now) took ignis in because thats blood, because you cant abandon a child that has no one else left in the world. but they dont know each other. perhaps his name was mentioned in passing if his sister no longer held him in contempt. perhaps as the years drifted by and her heart softened in memory of their bond she'd show her son the small polaroid cut out of the two in their youth. perhaps she'd even share the memories of their mischief back in the Scientia household. she could have told her son anything and it wouldnt alleviate the awkward air that surronded them because no matter how much ignis 'knew' about stupeo he was still just a man related to his mother. 

♡i imagine that prior to ignis coming into his care stupeo hadnt known how to interact with children (hes just like me). even in the service of his king and prince, stupeo is so incredible awkward. and its not like hes afraid of children, i think its moreso a fear of their unprediability. because thats his duty, isnt it? as advisor to king regis hes meant to be a reliable source of certainty and clear focus and while in the company of children—those beings of absolute chaos—he cant do that. so, what does he do? he avoids those interactions entirely.

♡i imagine theres a lot of 'giving each other space' in the first few weeks of them living together. a lot of not wanting to step on each others toes and invade each others spaces as much as they already are. but whats makes stupeo hesitate to continue this roundabout routine was the continuous sounds of whimpering coming from the room ignis was temporarily using. the sound goes on for about half an hour till they stop and the illumination of light is seen bleeding through the bottom of the door. now stupeo doesnt go in to address the night terror issue but know that the next day when ignis is getting ready for bed he sees plugged into the outlet next to his bed, a little nightlight. and if ignis were to look up at his bedpost he'd see a little beaded dreamcatcher too. but i dont think it was just the night terrors that moved stupeo to action, i think it was because of his sisters memory. every time stupeo catches a glimpse of that boy he sees his baby sister. in every birthmark, spot and dimple (omg baby ignis with dimples so cute🥺) he sees parts of his sister. so, who would he be if he doesnt protect what little renants of his sister still remain?

♡i cant help but imagine the thoughts that are going through baby ignis' mind. first, his home is destroyed in a raid then, his mother dies in a desperate attempt to protect him then, hes moved to the capital with what remaining family he has left then, the uncle who he was told would protect him practically avoids him at every turn. the guilt that has built up in this child is heartbreaking because not only is he thinking that hes responsible for the death of his mother but hes thinking that his very presence is a burden to the man that'd taken him in. hes lost and scared so its no wonder he chooses to keep his night terrors to himself. MY POOR SON I CANT

♡i imagine stupeo doesnt even say anything about the gifts he'd left behind for ignis. i bet he'd just continue to go about his routine. cook. clean. catch up on work, boring stuff really. but out of the corner of his eye ignis is there, reading. and that sight is confirmation enough that there may be hope for them after all.

Thoughts on the dragon characters in the yakuza games (Kiryu, Ryuji, tbh you decide who counts in this im too tired to give you a list lmao)

RIPS OFF DRAGON THEMED SHIRT TO REVEAL DRAGON TATTOO. DRAGONSWEEP!!!!!! Anyway if it wasn't obvious by . the amount of times I draw him plus the askblog in general I really like Ryuji. he's funny + i love stupid men + i also love tragic sibling whatnot etc. not to mention he's also really fun for me to draw??? and write. whenever I'm doing comics or whatever.

w/regards to Kiryu- he's fun! he's interesting! he does make me mad but i honestly wouldnt have it any other way- it's part of what makes him so intriguing. like yeah all the. stupid decisions do make me mad at him but that's a good thing. characters should be flawed etc etc it adds a nice bit of flavor to him.

oh god there's so much bullshit you can insert here. i love yakuza to death i do but there's a Lot of shit in it that's aged poorly HFJHSDKJFHSKJF

but barring those because they're easy answers, and technically this is cheating because it's more of a mechanics thing: it is SO weird to me that majima everywhere keeps happening in kiwami 1 even after majima gets fucking stabbed in the batting cages. it just kinda takes away the Punch that scene has if he's running around perfectly fine??? i do get why on a coding and mechanics level this is the case but still it feels weird. it would've been fun to have special majima everywhere encounters Specific to this beat in the story-- maybe majima breaking out of the hospital specifically to fight kiryu (in character, funny) or you having to fight other members of the majima family in his stead could've been fun. idk this is defo the Least egregious example of yakuza's writing being messy but still HFJKSDHFKSDF
