OS: I want people who are part of that [LGBTQ] community to know that I am so proud to be representing this story and that there is no part of me that has any shame or concerns about telling this story. I think it’s a wonderful, human story to be able to to tell and I honestly do not care if anybody thinks differently to me in that - then go watch something else.

OS: Officially, it’s a newer creation but I think what has been really fun is myself and Tim Minear, who writes the show, to kind of look back across the seasons and go No, there have been breadcrumbs to this for a long time and whether those have been intentional or not, I don’t think even really matters too much in the moment. The story has been telling itself and even on a subconscious level, it has been leading here, so it’s something that officially only came around this season, but I think what’s lovely about the DNA of this show is that if you do look back, Buck is somebody who has been looking for his identity. He has had a “womanizing” past and he has just been trying to find himself in all these different avenues, I think probably unsure of what was missing until it - I was going to say hit him in the face, but more to the point, kissed him in the face, and kind of opened up his world. He had this moment of Oh, that’s the thing that I’ve been looking for.

OS: Yeah, it’s striking that balance, where we want to tell this queer love story, and that’s a huge element of it, but we want to tell it just as human beings and not focus too much on that aspect. So, it’s finding a balance between giving it its importance, but also saying that this is no different.

OS: It’s just showing that there has always been this thread. Buck is here now as a bisexual man. The story is not the - and this is the thing that has been leveled at me on social media a little bit over the past couple of weeks of You’ve changed this character from being straight to gay and that’s not the story we’re telling here. We’re telling that Buck has always been a bisexual man, he has just not had the capacity to maybe process those feelings or understand those feelings for various different reasons that we could go into. It’s not a change - he wasn’t straight and now he’s bi - he is just uncovering more about himself and the fact that he’s doing that now in his thirties, I think, is a really cool story to show that you can discover these things later in life.

Gosh, Simon did that very gay thing (perhaps even very acespec thing) where as a boy he didn’t feel shit toward girls and he choose who he was going to “like.” That kid thing where everyone around you is starting to think about boyfriends and girlfriends and having crushes or liking a boy or a girl in your class feels So Very Serious and you don’t want to be left out (or people around you won’t accept “I don’t like anybody” as answer, so you just come up with someone based on aesthetics or vibes or someone who has something you like, even if you don’t like like them) (perhaps a bit of projecting there, I’m aware)

I remember seeing a joke about “Simon dating the hottest people in school” or something and ngl I needed to log off right there – the comphet of it all completely kills the warm fuzzy feelings I could otherwise get from the hotness factor. But it got me thinking into how Simon’s head worked then…

I also remember a twitter thread where someone asked the author if Simon was ever in love with Agatha, or whether he only loved her as a friend, and she replied “I think it’s obvious he was never in love, his instincts toward her are never romantic” etc etc (she’s also consistently said Simon hasn’t experienced attraction before Baz – she said that when CO came out, and again after awtwb – he never has sexual thoughts or feelings toward Agatha, etc) but I brought up that thread because the author went on to say something like “Simon would love the idea of being in love with someone like Agatha, the security, the stability” and maybe even “the status of dating the prettiest girl in school”

Simon wasn’t into Agatha because she was pretty. But he wanted to. Simon wasn’t into Agatha… but he was into the idea of dating the prettiest girl in school. On a deep level, I think that scene where Simon shares that “I always wanted Agatha” moment (where it shows he didn’t truly want Agatha, he wanted to be like her) it’s saying a lot about his self-esteem and how he has always felt ugly and unwanted. I think when Simon “decided” he liked Agatha, when he “choose” Agatha as the girl he “wanted” as a girlfriend, he’s also showing something else: he doesn’t just want to fit in, he wants to be aspirational. When all the boys around him want girlfriends, he wants the prettiest one, not because he actually wants the girl, but because he’s supposed to want that. Because that’s what all the other boys want…. It must have been a boost then, when he started dating her, and the others boys would “envy” him – for him, being someone people wanted to be like would feel like the extreme opposite of being rejected and neglected. (It’s what Simon does when he sees Agatha: he wonders how it feels to be as pretty as her and finds it aspirational. He projects things into her beauty. And then wants to be “close” so he can too be “pretty” and “aspirational” by association)

It would make sense that someone like Simon, who doesn’t know how love and attraction feel like, would go about it in that way. That it would be one of the elements playing into him “falling into comphet.” And that would be part of Simon reframing his attraction to Baz as “jealousy” because heteronormativity says Baz, who is attractive and good at the things he does, who is smart and competent, “should be aspirational” for other boys, and certainly not someone another boy desires. It explains Simon focusing on an alleged competition between Baz and him “for the prettiest girl” (who can be the most “successful”) in not wanting Baz “to win” (neither could ever win inside of heteronormativity, certainly not Agatha either) (it’s also a safer line of thought than “Baz dating someone would hurt in ways I’m not equipped to handle”)

I think people who say that Sirius would pick or save Reg over James are crazy, I’m sorry 😭

Idk how unpopular this is but Remus would drive everyone else crazy by picking the longest, most pretentious prog rock ever for parties. Peter is the only one with good taste. James is tone deaf. Sirius is a complete poser who will pretend to be into bands he’s never heard.

I don’t think Reg has a big circle of close friends. I love the Skittles in AUs but they really don’t make sense to me in canon compliant stuff, especially if the writer is trying to push that none of them were into blood supremacy.

I really like Lily and Sirius in Jegulus fics: I feel like they’re given much more depth and complexity than they are in Jily/Wolfstar stuff.

People have a really hard time making Dorlene and Moonseeker interesting as actual dynamics I would like to read about and not aesthetic Twitter threads.

If James/Remus/Regulus ended up being a thing and I was Sirius, our friendship would be over. Especially if they kept it from me. Oh, wait… I’d get with Evan and Barty and then our friendship would be over. I am toxic and petty and a Sirius kin can you tell. Any fic where Sirius is cool with it is an unrealistic fic in my eyes. Jegulus and/or Moonseeker is already stretching it but both his best friends? Nah.

Actually leaping off from that, a lot of fics these days do a bad job establishing why James and/or Remus would care about Regulus and instantly be in love with him. Especially in universes where Sirius hates Reg and Reg/Reg’s friends hate Sirius. I feel like earlier Jegulus fics did a much better job before it became an assumed dynamic.

I don’t think you should be writing Regulus & Sirius dynamics in fics if you don’t have empathy for both and aren’t willing to show both of their POVs. A lot of times it comes across as victim blaming or really weird ideas about victims.

I do not see my Suns as related to any other Daycare Attendant. First of all, they are robots, and if they meet anybody Else, I consider them having been made Separately. The trio is like a little family (which is why I don't want to ship 2-3 of them with the same person in the same universe). Don't assume relationships with them, they've been through their own lives and have their own relationships. Also don't assume that if I ship with a Daycare Attendant that there's some kind of familial relation between them, because there isn't. I will adjust universes for our interactions, placing them in different pizzerias/plexes if needed, we'll figure it out together.

The human!Suns are not related to your human!Daycare Attendant, unless we Really vibe with that angle and we've plotted it out extensively. Aster, Sunny and Elio are stand-alone characters with their own lives and backstories, just like their bot-versions.

An Alternate

So, they basically save each other? (Ignoring the fact that you have to survive the interrogation to continue playing).

What if in an alternate universe? Getting Akechi's glove would be the difference between dying and continuing on.

Think about it, you didn't sell out your friends and got good ending. But, you-

A. Get didn't Akechi to R. 8. Allowing him to auto to 10.

B. Lost the R. 8 fight and never re-challenged and beat him.

C. left him at R. 7 or lower.

It would be funny if he was the key to surviving. Putting more emphasis on your relationship than there already is.

Nothing says I'm gay for you, like being able to survive being shot in the head because you got your "rival's" glove. Or very deep friendship. If you prefer that.

So, in that situation, what if you needed to not sell out your friends and got Akechi to max?

At that point, your opinion on Akechi would guide your decisions.

If you don't care for him, forgot about him or ran out of time 💀☠

If you like him, you'll move on.😁

It might change the Christmas Eve dialogue a bit. (Since you would need to max him to continue). Something like- "I knew you wouldn't disappoint me". Which would change the story. Because it would be you bringing him back into your life instead of Maruki granting our wish. Which would in turn change 3rd sem (if you got it).

At that point, would Maruki ending exist? Think about it, if you wish Akechi back into your life, on your own power. What does Maruki have to hang over your head? All your friends would be happy. Sure, Sumi would be brainwashed, but Ren is more concerned about bringing Akechi back into his life. Even brainwashed Sumi is "safe". If Akechi's safe, would Ren tell Maruki to go jump in a lake? (I would).

I don't think he would take the deal if Akechi was safe. Since the dialogue that comes up is tailored to Akechi, not anybody else. "If we go back, Akechi will be...". (I think this is the quote).

Say we will Akechi back into our life. That means when you beat Maruki, you'd go back to the original timeline and Akechi'd be with you, or at least near you. You'd probably still go to jail, sadly. No, Akechi'd be in jail because he turned himself in and he's now back in your life. Which overwrites you going to jail.

I'm not sure Akechi being in jail is any better than us being in jail. I'd prefer no one but Shido be in jail. But I guess somebody needs to go to jail unless we rewrite the game. (And Japanese politics/government).

I wonder if your friends would band together to get Akechi out of jail like they do for you. They don't care much for him and make it very known. 3rd sem makes everybody look bad. They went from "Come help us beat up your dad" to "We will kill you if you step out of line". Like I get it, but really the dude said he's going to help you. Where'd all the empathy go? Did it die in the Engine Room? Did they forget that Shido used a Child? Just like adults used them. (Like cut the poor dude a break. He saved your asses. Without him, you'd all be dead).

I think Ren could convince all non-party confidants and Sumi to help. Maybe Yusuke (Akechi and Yusuke are similar with shit fathers, dead mothers and shit circumstances), maybe Ann (she's more sympathetic) Ryuji (he's sympathetic, too. See: Sophia and Ichinose in Strikers). You might be able to swing Futaba. (She's not as murdery as Haru and she seems a little more sympathetic). Sae might be able to convince Makoto. Anyway all that to say. Kurt is not straight passing! He doesn’t need to be! He’s bold, theatrical, he loves fashion, he loves Broadway, and that’s great! But the pink sparkly unicorn stuff is something Brittany tried to force on him.

Kurt loves Judy Garland. He wanted to pay tribute to her with his campaign posters, hearkening back to her Blackglama fur coat ad. Something that references a beloved icon of the queer community, and fashion history at the same time. Two things that are very Kurt

But with Brittany, all nuance and clever reference is gone. She puts ruby slippers in the goody bag, just because they’re sparkly and flamboyant. They reference Judy in the most cliche and obvious way possible. Even if someone wants to claim it was her own version of a clever reference, she still has more pointless stuff in there as well. Unicorns, a teletubby, hair bands?? What does any of this have to do with Kurt or what he likes or represents?

And obviously there is nothing wrong with being the most flamboyant gay person you want to be. Pink and sparkles and rainbows obviously aren’t bad on their own. Not trying to sound like the shitty old “Gay people I respect vs gay people I don’t respect” meme. It’s just. Every gay person is more than their sexuality. No matter how flamboyant they are, how they dress, how many rainbows they wanna slap on everything. That’s still a whole person. Just bc all YOU see is a giant rainbow flag, that doesn’t mean that’s all they are

Brittany thinks being gay is nothing but pink unicorns and rainbow glitter. How is that any different from the shit Karofsky or Azimio or any other bully says about Kurt?? And in s3 he starts wearing more drab colors and all these sweaters and capes and he’s bundling himself up like he’s protecting himself and it makes me sad. And they bring in a completely new character that looks like Kurt just to call Kurt ugly and a girl and make fun of him. It drives me up a fucking wall! Season 3 is so awful to Kurt i literally can’t stand it. And it all starts with Brittany :) Thanks for that. Girl power!

And after dealing with the pain and humiliation of literally being laughed out of an audition BY MEMBERS OF THE FACULTY for being “too gay” Kurt is faced with the bright pink unicorn posters with his face on him that say “This is your box! This is all you will ever be!” and wow i can’t imagine why he’d be upset with Brittany for that!! Who’da thunk??? Brittany was a selfish idiot for hanging them up. Kurt had every right to be upset. And Santana was an idiot for invalidating Kurt’s feelings and just boosting Brittany up when she was obviously in the wrong. But that’s Br*ttana for you :)

I’m not even happy about Kurt “accepting” the posters and hanging them up himself and making that his campaign theme. That’s the version of Kurt that someone else made up in their head. First thing you have to ask yourself is if you are like that. If you aren't, or don't want to be, then make the active choice to shut these people out of your circles and not tolerate them in your communities.

I don't have this experience with bisexuals, but I've been online long enough to know that other people have. There's rotten eggs in every group of people, but with those who are bisexual, there is both the pressure from the heterosexual world to reject homosexuality and the influence to develop heterosexist and homophobic thinking patterns, that with some, turn into active prejudice against gay people and people in gay relationships. Others are ignorant of how their world view is biased, and others suffer from internalised homophobia.

As a bisexual, your first duty is to yourself: make sure you're in an environment where you are not hurt by this behaviour. When you have a stable and supportive environment for your own identity, your second duty is to condemn this behaviour when you see it. That does not mean that your job is to go out there and correct people day in and day out. In fact, if you see this type of content online too frequently, as it sounds like you do now, you have to return to your first duty: ensuring that you are comfortable, that you are protected, that you are in a good mental space and have the support you need for your identity. But if you then, outside of your own base of operations, bump into a homophobic bi - you have a few options. You can directly tell them that's not cool, which is cool, and then for all I care you can block them so they can't pull you into an online fight that you don't want to be having. Mute the thread, mute the person, close your DMs, do all of this from an anonymous throwaway account that cannot be reached. Alternatively, if you're not in a place to be outright stating this, you can write your thoughts out in your own space.

You don't need to be reading that junk, unless someone is specifically making a callout for you, in which case you might want to take a look at the accusation (not the entire post) first and decide whether you did something wrong or not, and then unfollow, mute, blacklist and block.

You're not an educator or a family member of these people. If you are their friend, then challenge this situation head-on with them and make the right calls on whether to continue that friendship based on their behaviour. Or if they're toxic and you'd rather not be their friend, then just leave them cold. You're not responsible for anybody else's behaviour, but to be a good person, voicing your opinion when you're safe and cosy and supported in your own corner can be invaluable in the fight against homophobia.

Leaving, by the way, is also a statement you make. Cutting associations with toxic people is not running away from a fight, it's showing them that you don't agree with them and want nothing to do with their ideology.

The LGBT+ community is exactly the same as the rest of the world in that they cater to men before anybody else. Gay men before lesbians, Trans men before trans women etc. Men and transmasc nonbinary people are some of the most selfish people on the planet, they cannot imagine a world that doesn’t prioritize them first and whenever they find a community that isn’t for them they throw a fit. This is why we have an overabundance of transition advice and posts for transmascs and very little for trans women. It’s why there’s a shit ton of gay bars across the US and only about 15 lesbian bars. It’s why you see trans and/or gay men saying some of the most misogynistic shit you’ve ever heard. It’s why you get “WLW/NBLW/NBLM do NOT INTERACT, this is a SAFE SPACE from NON-MEN!” on posts/blogs that have nothing to do with sexuality. This is why we have the bullshit that is “male lesbians,” somehow.

It’s like. Painfully obvious that the LGBT+ community is so misogynistic, the L being the first letter doesn’t mean anything. Men feel entitled to fucking everything. Lesbian flag? Yeah make it blue bc blue for boys... it’s Ours Now. And now the lesbian label itself? Are you serious? If a cishet woman called herself gay for liking men, you know people would throw a fit. Male lesbians are bullshit. And like, obviously a bigender or genderfluid person who is a man sometimes but is a lesbian while they aren’t is not the same thing. The thing is though that while these people aren’t strictly women, they aren’t strictly men either.

But someone who is 100% a man cannot be a lesbian by definition. That’s it. It’s not gatekeeping. I cannot believe that someone has to say this. Society constantly tells lesbians that attraction to men is a requirement and that lesbianism is either a phase or an illness, and the lesbian community is meant to tell people “Hey! It’s actually perfectly normal to not like men! There’s nothing wrong with you!” as a direct opposition to lesbophobia and misogyny. And now apparently it’s like “men who like women are also lesbians somehow, they don’t have to like men either” like that doesn’t work. Guys who have tried wearing items of clothing targeted at women and found them comfortable, easy to wear and relaxing. 

These guys, and I’m one, have the prospect of massive backlash from their wives, girlfriends or family, so they dress in secret, or, judging by the immense number of photos taken there; in hotel rooms.

Guys who love their hobby but are scared of community backlash, of rejection my family or employers.

Irrespective of whether you want to pass, not to pass, or to transgender; whether you’re straight, bi or gay, I don’t care, and neither should anybody else.

Just as women have won the right to wear what they like, right down to micro bikinis, we have the right to dress as we choose.

A woman in pants is no more a thread to society or children than a man in a skirt or dress. yes, there will always be predators buy they are a really small minority.

While dressing is still quite new to me, while I haven’t got my wife to accept me in a dress, heels or make up, it will happen. 

I am happy to say I wear skirts everywhere; to see clients, going to events, shopping; it’s just second nature to me now.

I implore all of you, yes, all of you; to make a statement in April to say “enough is enough” and tell those around you of your hobby, of how you are the same person irrespective of what you wear. Safety and modesty aside, you sa just s capable of doing your job, r being a partner, a parent, a child or grandchild irrespective of what you wear.

Love yourself enough to step out, no matter if you pass or not, and show the world you’re q decent human being exercising your right to be different, to be and do what’s right for you.

Let’s make April 2021 the time for us to step up, step out and to be counted.
