Idk if this was mentioned already or not but with the synopsis Haymitch confirmed has a “sister like” figure in his life AS WELL AS HIS BROTHER WHO BOTH DIE‼️‼️‼️ AND HE WATCHES MAYSILEE DIE AND COMFORTS HER AS AN ALLY❓❓❓ AND THEN HIS MOTHER AND GIRLFRIEND DIE ALSO ❓❓❓ damn the 50th games were truly his rock bottom weren’t they-

haymitch posting and ooh. ohhh. nothing breaks me more than thinking about the man who was once just a boy, fighting for his survival via early morning hunts, bruised knuckles and bloodied bandages, tesserae in exchange for slip after slip. holding together the small, crumbling bits of his world with inherited willpower and being forced to watch the last of it disintegrate after his win. and i think, was he a kind brother? did he scold, teach, care and watch over the little boy who was unfortunate enough to be related to him by blood? did they know that fortune and gratitude would become a curse when he was forced to stand at his brother's grave? did his mother ever think, that instead of losing her eldest son, he would lose her and more? did she get a glimpse into his future of anguish, grief and despair? could she have bared it?

no change in the movies pisses me off more than them having peeta just scream "ur all gonna die!!!1!1" at the camera with the hard cut to haymitch going "that was a warning (empath)" when in the book it was peeta struggling to even get the warning out and literally everyone in 13 expect haymitch and katniss going "wtf did he mean by that he can't be trusted" to which haymitch had to desperately plead with coin to listen to the warning, because that's obviously what is was, and none of them know peeta except for him and katniss

Like as unintentionally funny as the scene in the movie is it wasn't even a moment in the books that makes haymitch seem all that clever, like they try to spin in it the movie, it was just him knowing and trusting peeta. It was a testiment to his love for the kid, not anything else ughhfhfjkdkdkf

i know haymitch lied to katniss and peeta about their role in the rebellion, but throughout the entire series, i think the single worst thing he does is the “more boy trouble?” comment near the end of mockingjay.

she was literally just a tribute in two games and the face of the rebellion, none of which by choice. she lost her home. lost her sister. and he reduces it to boy trouble. what an infuriating comment from an older male mentor.

Like nooo wdym I thought I had more time to speculate and share all my weird ideassss. Anyway I’m so indecisive so I literally can’t choose my final guess for the SotR protagonist(…s) but whatever it is I Will Be Right. Btw I was always correct about the protagonist so whoever it is just know that I thought of it first. Bc I’m very cool like that

If Suzanne Collins wrote another book set in this world what would be your preferred plotline? Is there any particular character or theme you would like to see further explored or do you feel the worlds best left as is? Because honestly I had truly believed that this world was best left as is after the original Trilogy and was deeply put off by the announcement that she was writing a Prequel but after reading TBOSAS I'm so obsessed with this world and the examination of The Social Contract and Human Nature that I would read anything she wrote in this world lmfaooo

Personally, I'm still iffy with the idea of Suzanne writing more. I think the story feels... complete. (for me)

BUT, if she did, I would love to know more about the First Rebellion or the collapse of the society that we know today. (So BEFORE Panem)

I guess I want the meat of why Panem exists.

I also agree though, Anon. I would read anything Collins put out. I find her brain fascinating.

So I just found out there's gonna be a new hunger games book that apparently would take place at the time of Haymitch's games.

I know some people don't think it will be from Haymitch's pov and I have to say that I agree. I don't think it will be his pov.

I mean, we've already gotten the povs of a capitol citizen and a citizen of district 12 aka one of the poorest districts.

I feel that, now, the only pov we're missing is from one of the career district who while still subjugated by the Capitol, are wealthier so having an easier time compared to a district like district 12 and have a very different vision of the games compared to the other districts. They've been fed and bought into propaganda so much that they see the games as this great honour to participate in them. They even train their whole lives for the sole purpose of taking part in the games and having a chance at winning. It'd be interesting to dig into that pov and I could see us getting that.

So took a hit with my mental health 🙃 but I have tried to keep writing. Chapter 4 of who’s gonna hold you like me ended up being a bit shorter than the others, it’s more of a filler, so I am aiming to get chapter 4 and 5 ready at the same time
