The pride of a nation, an icon! A plane that served her country well and helped the world recover from this pandemic, destroyed in her country's darkest hours!!
Though compared to all else, it is nothing and just a plane, losing the Antonov 225 Mriya is a tragedy given the symbolic and national icon for Ukraine that it was! It wasn't an ancient ruin or building, but it had the same value for her country and its loss is to that extent.
Russia may have destroyed the AN-225 Mriya, but they will NEVER destroy Ukraine's Mriya!
The dream doesn't die today or ever!!
The world is watching and is on the side of Ukraine! History will remember Putin for the monster he is!!

Dreams are better than myths [explored, thank you all!] 💙💛
Without delving deep into history and politics, let's just say I'm a firm believer in dreams and oppose myths, especially national myths. The latest invasion is clearly fueled by myths, as clearly as was the one that happened 30+ years ago.
Here, a heavy transport aircraft Antonov An-225 Mriya (Dream) during boarding (although probably not at that time) 140 tons heavy power transformer made by Končar Power Transformers for the Philippine San Lorenzo power plant. The flight shortened the delivery time from 40-45 days to just two. Taken from the observation terrace of Zagreb's airport, while trying to get a clear view as possible, November 2013.
Let's hope a new dream will be flying again, let's hope this invasion will stop soon.
Taken with Pentax K20D digital camera and smc Pentax-DA 55–300mm F4–5.8 telephoto zoom lens, at full 300mm (450mm-equivalent).
💙💛 Thank you all for pushing this photo into Explore at #451 at one point in time. Yay!

FUNDRAISER! Mighty Mryia, the one and only Antonov AN225, largest cargo plane in the world, sadly now destroyed. I created 3 versions of this portrait, flying over a field of sunflowers, in a blue sky, and with no background at all. All 3 options are available on my new Redbubble shop, where you can choose to have them printed on various merch including stickers, prints, clothing, and other options. ALL money I get from Redbubble for any of these items that sell will be donated directly to @internationalredcross to help #Ukraine and my friends who live there who I’m so worried about. ANTONOV 225
The Antonov An-225 Mriya was a strategic airlift cargo aircraft designed in the 1980s by the Antonov Design Bureau in the Soviet Union. It was initially developed to enlarge the Antonov An-124 to transport Buran-class orbiters, and only one example was ever completed.
All profits will go to the Antonov company to rebuild the Mriya our dream, she will rise from the darkness one day
