Just pointing this out since I haven't seen anybody else mention it:

Notice how Hobie's already collecting parts for his own watches before they even get to the lab?

Look at him in the gif above and you can clearly see him pickpocket something from a tray from a bypassing spider-person!

I love this detail so much!

And notice when they get to the lab and Jess is no longer with them he no longer hides the fact that he's taking stuff from the lab (he even makes sure Miles sees it, probably to signal to him that he doesn't respect the spider-society and neither should Miles).

This also shows that Hobie trusts Miles more than the other spider-people already! Since he doesn't have a problem with Miles seeing him take all this stuff from the lab, but he hides it when he's around the other spider-people as seen in the first gif!

Wait there's a txf porn movie!?

Ahhh ahahah yeah. I think there's two actually.... Lemme. Okay do there is at least two, maybe three that I know of. I've only seen the first one but there's a cut of the sequel with all the sex scenes removed that's on YouTube. And if it's anything like the first one. Then the plot is better than some actual x files episodes.

I know for the first one there was a lot of attention to detail, like there is a title sequence and one of the shots is the porn actors walking into a room with flashlights ala tooms. Just for the title sequence, it doesn't appear in the movie. Then they have a shot panning down from the pencils in the office ceiling to mulder at his desk. They have star and time stamps for crime scene investigations that say 10:13am Carter Drive. Mulder makes inappropriate quips at crime scenes that are actually quite funny, and Scully tells mulder he can't break into a house because the evidence will be void. It even has a Skinner/Arlene sex scene which is really funny. But probably the best part is when Mulder and Scully finally get together, Mulder goes down on Scully while romantic music plays in the background.

There are just so many details it is genuinely a work of art.

Hihi I wanted to say thank you ! Bit random but your fic has helped me realize that it’s okay to just have fun with writing a fic and it doesn’t have to follow any rules or such.

I used to only write main ideas for fics I wanted to write but was always too nervous about messing up or it sounding dull that I never managed to follow through, but while reading LoF and such, it’s helped me see that it’s a lot more relaxed than I thought it to be. I can happily say I’m writing my own contribution to the Spidey in Gotham niche and yeah I just wanted to thank you <3

And a a little question of how you decided on all the suits for your AUs ? Like Peter’s jacket in LoF or that INCREDIBLE venom AU suit (it looks so cool)

Ahhh that's so cool!! I really really love that!! Writing is supposed to be fun and crazy and adventurous! You write for yourself first, forget about what could be "cringe" or "lame" to someone else, and go for it! :) I hope your writing journey takes you far and you see many places to write about!

And I've always been fascinated by character design. It started with my first ever anime, Fairy Tail. The designs can be cheesy or fanservicey but I loved that they never really made sense in a set of time or era specific, and that they were always interesting, if a little cooky.

Designing suits is a pain in the ass, but fun. It's a lot of looking at artwork that I really enjoy that other artists made and seeing what I think the character I'm designing for would like the most- or looking at fashion from all different walks of life. It's also a lot of keeping in mind a characters story, the themes of their life, etc. Details, details, details.

I decided on the jacket that Peter wears in LoF because, well, he needed a jacket. It's getting colder and his regular jackets weren't going to cut it for the whole "secret identity" thing. So far in Peter's life, he'd been wearing what is "practical" to have and not what he wanted to have. In LoF, he's starting to branch out in his identity as Spider-Man. He looks up to Jason in a way (thinks he's cool) so I figured he'd want to wear something like Jason. He got the new jacket and he ended up wearing a domino mask too- something to symbolize that his time in Gotham is starting to change him. It's no coincidence that he gets these items and the same chapter, he ends up finally at the Batcave.

But with him designing the jacket, making it his own, and even putting an Iron Man patch on one sleeve? It means he's still himself, Spider-Man, and he's still got his home on the mind. It just also happens that Peter cares about Gotham now, too.

As for the venom suit, I took influence in the Venom designs I saw from the comics or fanart (I didn't make a board, so I can't pull up the exact refs right now), and also looking at other Spider designs from the Spiderverse movies. I kept it mostly the same suit I designed for LoF Peter, just with darker hands (as to say, blood stained), claws, a harsher/more vibrant red, etc, as a way to say that he has not moved past the kid he was when he was first bit, and Venom changed him for the worst. :)

I have more suit designs (such as LoF Peter's suit changing over time) but I can't share them yet,,,, They're technically spoilers,,,, RIP,,,,

he gets really pissy when it comes to nitpicky details however. once he went to a hardware store and found that two of the boxes of lightbulbs were labeled incorrectly and he cornered rick (who was working there) to rant about it for an hour straight. rick quit after that

I just went to see the Wicked movie and I was absolutely blown away. Like many other fans of the stage show, I was skeptical and wondered why they couldn’t just give us a proshot instead. However, this film is real proof of the value in properly adapting this story to film, rather than just giving us the stage show again. There are unique possibilities in every medium, which for film is things like editing, cinematography, scale, close-ups etc., and Wicked uses all of these to great effect.

Spectacle is at the heart of both The Wizard of Oz (with its cutting edge use of technicolour) and the Wicked stage show (which is notable for its incredible costumes, stage design, lighting etc.), and spectacle is also very much at the heart of this film. My jaw quite literally dropped in the opening moments as the camera flew over the land of Oz, and it stayed open throughout most of the first number. I’m so glad I got to see it at the cinema; it’s absolutely worth seeing it on the big screen. I might even go again!

I was also worried about the run time, given that its 2 hours and 40 minutes cover only Act 1 of a stage show which runs that length in its entirety. However, the length felt entirely justified. It didn’t even feel like they added that much! What they did add – bits of dialogue, exposition, reframing of scenes, flashbacks etc. – I loved, but for the most part it just felt like it was faithfully adapting the first act of the show.

This was a phenomenal piece of cinema and I'm only sad that I don't get to watch part two for another year! This might even end up being the definitive version for me, which is so far from what I was expecting. Obviously nothing is quite like live theatre, but nothing is quite like this either. I’ve included more detailed and spoilery reactions to specific parts below, but I can only recommend this movie!

SPOILERS BELOW! (And I mean spoilers specific to the movie. If you’re a fan of the stage show already but don’t want to have some surprises ruined, I really recommend going in without knowing!)

No One Mourns the Wicked

I’ve already mentioned that my jaw was dropped throughout this song, but I was also sobbing copiously.

It does such a good job capturing the celebratory nature and then shifting to show the darkness at the heart of this celebration.

The way the camera cuts back to Glinda’s face at certain moments really heightens the emotional kick for anyone who knows how the rest of the story goes.

The effigy is so sinister and horrifying, as is Glinda’s face as she’s made to be the one to light it.

We all knew Ariana Grande could hit those high notes, but goddamn.

Dear Old Shiz

Not much to say about this one, but such great costuming and I love how all of the arrival scene plays out.

The Wizard and I

This is one of the songs that benefits the most from the filmic medium.

We can see Elphaba’s face in close up as she begins to have this revelation.

The way the lighting changes to show her de-greenified when she’s singing about that!

The fact that she (and we) really can very hazily see ‘a vision, just like a prophecy’! The dissonance between the hope in her eyes and what we know is happening made me cry again!

That run up to the cliff at the end is so exhilarating! Slight Maria von Trapp vibes, but also it’s the scale and spectacle again, and this huge drop that will be mirrored at the end of the movie.

What is this Feeling

Ahhh! The editing in this one!

That initial split screen as they’re writing the letters works so well.

The cuts between shots and things happening on the beat are delicious.

It’s so clever to use this song as a montage!

Something Bad

All of the stuff with Dr Dillamond and the animals was very effective.

I really like the way this scene is located and the way shadows are used to represent things happening.

There seems to be a little cut in the music so we don’t get ‘under the surface, behind the scenes’, but that doesn’t feel like much of a loss.

Dancing through Life

This is one of the longest sequences in the musical and it’s used very effectively here.

Firstly, I love how bisexual this Fiyero is with his flirting, and how both male and female students are shown to be into him.

Setting it in the library is funny and I love the set design with those spinny bookcases, as well as how the song develops to have the choreography on them.

God, the emotion of the silent dance sequence. They’re really not afraid to let it play out in its full awkwardness and I’m so glad.

The chords underneath when Glinda starts to dance along! I know it’s the Dancing Through Life music, but the way it sounds like the start of For Good had me sobbing yet again!

The dance itself! The close ups on their hands and faces! Ahhh!

One Short Day

I love the extended introduction, especially as we’re treated to the spectacle of the outskirts of the city and then the city itself.

Of course, the hugest thing has to be the Wizomania section.

Because holy shit!!!!!!

The little additional Wizomania bit started and I thought ‘oh cool! They have written new music’ and then!

I’m soooooo happy that Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel got their cameos. It was entirely unexpected and I sat there with my hands over my mouth in excitement - I'm so glad I didn't see any spoilers about It! Also Kristen got to do her high notes and Idina got to do her Defying Gravity riff.

The Wizomania addition was also valuable in giving the lore behind the Grimmerie, though I was too excited by Kristen and Idina to pay that much attention to the lyrics.            

A Sentimental Man

There was a slightly weird cut into the start of this number, with them suddenly all sitting down. It would have felt slightly more natural to lead into it from where they were, but maybe they cut something out there.

Defying Gravity

I was not expecting the balloon to come into play like that!

So well played between our two leads. It hits all the emotional beats it needs to and has such a sense of scale and excitement.

Again, it all comes back to spectacle. This is one of the most spectacular moments of the show and they don’t back down from the challenge here.

I’ve obviously always adored that moment where Elphaba is in the air at the centre of a green star, and I always will, but there are things here that film can do that stage shows can’t.

That drop to the ground really ratchets up the drama, as does her flight up and then back down again. It actually reminded me of that famous moment in the first Spiderverse movie – so exhilarating!

That enormous cloak! The lighting!

That extended unlimited bit with the cuts to people learning about Elphaba’s new status as a fugitive! So good!

I wanted to applaud!

Other

I love Elphaba and Fiyero meeting in the woods initially.

I love that we actually see Elphaba learning magic.

Madam Morrible’s presence is also really well used. She’s nowhere near as sinister a figure as she is in the book, of course, but I like how well she’s introduced as a maternal figure to Elphaba, or at least as an adult who actually believes in her, and then the mask finally slips as soon as Elphaba stops doing as she’s told. Michelle Yeoh gives a really understated performance, but she’s not a cackling villain and so it works well to see this other side of her come forward in this way.

It’s interesting that whenever the Grimmerie is read from it's only spoken aloud rather than sung. I wonder if that will continue into No Good Deed and Wicked Witch of the East in part 2.

Hell yeah, I just realised we should finally have an official recording of Wicked Witch of the East when part 2 comes out!

Hey, just so you know I love what you did with the straw x male reader and I know this may be sudden but you think you can do a part 2 of it? And if you want, I can put in some of the details if you want? (Warning: This is too long) like let's say this theme is more so focused on reader's past and I will say that his backstory similar to movie sonic where his mother is actually a giant owl who had eaten a human human fruit and Is very knowledgeable with all kinda of devil fruits (She even has collections of them) but of course, like some tragic things that happened to some characters. Both reader and his mother were being raided by people who secretly worked for the world government and because of it, the mother owl had no choice but to sacrifice herself in order to let reader escape (Similar to Nico robin and what happened in Ohara) and in the end, their home got burned down and all reader could do is run away and hide. Anyways back to present, after hearing from an unknown caller that his mother was alive. He didn't believe it at first until there are just way too many evidences that his mother might be still alive after what happened and not only that but finding out how she's secretly working for the world government, it was just absurd to him. Is this the reason why they want him alive? He's not sure anymore. In the end, he decided that it would be best to never tell the crew about it and would just have to go out of his way on his own to find the location where his mother was at. And by the time, straw hats find out that they were too late and reader is already ahead of them. ─ You were probably adopted (maybe not, but you never wanted to ask), your mother was a giant owl that ate the human-human fruit, but you don't care where you come from, you always loved your mother.

─ A little curious fact is that she is a collector of devil fruits, which caused you some problems because people are greedy with treasures like that, but the thing is that you got your powers because of that very collection.

─ You were just a child when you were snooping through her things and that devil fruit looked tasty, you were disappointed with the taste and on top of that your mother scolded you for that, but there was nothing that could reverse the effects.

─ Normally you had to change houses continuously, the government and some people wanted the devil fruits that your mother collected, as if that were not enough, they also wanted you as an experiment subject since your fruit was quite powerful or sought after.

─ And one day what you were fearing simply happened, the government found you, worst of all, your mother sacrificed herself for you to flee, you couldn't do anything and you began to hate the government more than before, they had taken a being loved without regrets.

─ After that you wandered aimlessly, many newspapers had the exclusive that they had caught the 'evil' thief of devil fruits and were going to make her pay for her sins, your whole world collapsed when a week later, word spread that she had died and they had put up a wanted poster only alive with your face.

─ Your life began to fall apart but luckily, before your intrusive thoughts could do anything, you met Luffy… well, Usopp in the first place, but the important thing was that the strawhats took you in after your life was gone overboard.

─ But your plan to do everything on your own went awry, you tried to deal with some undercover guys who worked for the government on an island, you were seriously injured, if it wasn't because Usopp found your diary and decided to browse a bit ( because this guy couldn't contain himself and thought one look wouldn't hurt anyone) you'd probably be dead by now.

─ While Chopper treated you in a fit of stress, the others looked at your wounded body with a frown, most of them angry for not being able to arrive earlier, Luffy angry with you for not having told him anything.

─ When you recovered he scolded you because you didn't trust them to help you, "Idiot, we are here for you! You are my nakama and I would do anything for you." "I'm sorry…"

─ You apologized to everyone for being so reckless and going alone to a fight you couldn't win, they forgave you and just like Luffy, each one showed in their own way that you didn't need to have that fight by yourself, if you needed their support, there they going to be, even if they had to fight against your own mother, they would not abandon you.

AHHHGH DUDE, IVE FINALLY FOUND YOU ON HERE, YESSSS BRO, YOUR WRITING IS PHENOMENAL, (I'd say I'm the biggest lagwafis enthusiast on the internet, as soon as i read lagwafis, I bought the CD, the collectors edition pill pack white shirt, I have so so so many quotes on my Craig Tucker Shrine from the fic, and if you wanted to know, I've currently managed to read lagwafis 388 times, people believe I know it by heart, get it? "I know you by heart, Tweek" and the agonizing fact I quote lagwafis every day whenever I see a brink of reference infront of me, like let's say yesterday, I was in a store- and I saw a tub of chai latte and I was so close to screaming lagwafis reference inside of the store, I'm also cooking up some fan art (specifically from coming home) so I'll totally tag you when it's out) AHHH I'M GONNA WRITE SO MUCH ON HERE IT MIGHT GO TO THE LIMIT, okay so first, let's talk about the fanfic itself, there are SO many tiny details in this fic that have either made me laugh or cry in agony, which is a good thing, also, the characterization is TOP TIER, a lot of fanfictions tend to fall slightly short on the background characters outside of the pairing that tends to be the main focus. This was a great change, especially in Craig's group and Stan especially, everyone felt so real and totally had obvious quirks from the fandom itself that I LOVED SO MUCH, your writing evokes so much emotion that I somehow managed to feel exactly how everyone felt in a chapter relevant to them.

Let's talk about the character description choices, the way you described Tweek in almost every chapter made my heart ache in the best way possible, you made him sound like a fallen angel, the definition of ethereal, also the fact you decided on giving him that mouth scar with backstory to it is TOP TIER, I have a similar scar on my lip and whenever I see it in the mirror I think of Tweek from this fanfic, let's move on to Craig, the way you wrote his internal monologue and the way his emotions played out made me absolutely soul crushed, this entire fic left a deep pit in my heart, especially how Craig was described, Craig was written so realistically that it actually felt like he was real. He purposely blocked off his emotions to prevent himself from being seen as vulnerable, he struggled with keeping his “I don’t give a shit” personality until it all just exploded and the part that he was so vulnerable with was exposed to the entire school.

Also I see that the lagwafis anniversary is coming up soon!! I usually celebrate it every year when I get the chance to, by doing lagwafis related things and shit, this fanfic deserves way more than just kudos and comments and hits, this fic deserves the damn world and beyond, I even had literal dreams of this fic being one day announced to be an animated movie, and if it ever did I would cry and vomit in the best way ever possible, my life would be so complete if we became moots on here, also, I'm not sure if you have TikTok, but that's where I'm most known to being the lagwafis enthusiast on there, i make a lot of lagwafis related videos, my username is spacecadetcraigz, if you ever see this at some point, just know im so grateful you took your time to read through this.

Review Bomb! (The Treble With Rivals - Potazel Hazel)

Hi, it's me again! I'm back with another review bomb bc i missed episodes at their airing times and watched some a bit out of order lol

I'm a bit more prepped this time so these reviews come with pictures! (Oooh! Ahhh!)

The Treble With Rivals:

Mmm, music episode! Goes crazy knowing I can play violin and all but that's besides the point. The point is: we got a new fairy! And new fairy lore? THERE'S A MUSIC WORLD???

Seriously, this place fucks. I love it. I always love it when FOP A New Wish adds new fairies and stuff so music fairy is such fun!

LOOK AT HER DESIGN ITS COOL AF

I liked the OST of this episode tbh, the composers put some good moves into an episode based purely on music.

I also really liked the intro card this time, small detail I know, but the contrast yellow v blue was so fun!

I feel like this episode is *partially* a commentary on school bands/orchestras and how they interact with one another, even if unintentional. I say this because I was in my school's string orchestra this semester and I noticed that there's a whole community of music and little inside jokes (eg. viola slander in the strings community) and stuff so this sorta felt like that. Every band/group has their own little status (especially with size) and this episode showcased a bit of that relationship between music groups that I've witnessed (not that I've ever seen a whole ass rivalry but you get the point I hope).

My one singular complaint is that I felt the "erased music" plot was underwhelming? Like I read the description and thought it'd be a lot bigger in scale (I guess more action? More suspense? Takes up the whole episode?) but it wasn't... which I mean this was alright and all but somehow I thought it'd be a lot more adventurous.

Rattleconda Racers:

Peak episode! It's one of those episodes that likes to play around with setting and such, this time we were essentially stuck in movie style aspect ratio until the end when we went back to 16:9 (mmmm television proportions my beloved)

I liked the dive into the relationship between Hazel and her brother Antony! We saw a bit of them meeting up in The Treble With Rivals but not much of their relationship. I feel like it's super cute! Hazel still seems to be unable to adjust to how different her brother is and how he's got all those new experiences and it makes her feel disconnected and wanting everything to be back to the way it used to be, as shown through the game, where Hazel tries to get Antony to follow the game's path while Antony would rather go around the path and explore beyond.

It's a metaphor for change and excepting change, and how everything around both siblings changed so much (Antony going to college, Hazel moving to a new town) and how they both adjust to their new life.

I liked their little moment of making up with each other after Hazel gets increasingly mad that they aren't playing the game the way they used to, it's a sweet scene and I liked it.

Side note: ADORED Cosmo and Wanda's outfits this episode.

HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE THESE??!! THEY LOOK FIRE AS HELL!!!! Wanda especially with that dress it legit slays on her to be honest. Cosmo with the cowboy attire and "Cosmo the Kid" nickname is so funny

I also liked the side thing of Wanda really playing into her character but Hazel not letting her. YOU GO GIRL! BE DRAMATIC!! THE PLOT CALLS AND BECKONS FOR IT!!!!

Overall this was one of those fun episodes with a good message and character developments of Hazel and Antony (who we get a proper intro to as well!)

I remember many a people wondering if Antony shows up, then what? Since Hazel in the first episode really revolved around missing her brother and not dealing with moving to a new town, people thought she wouldn't need the fairies afterwards. At least, I think I saw stuff like that but I might as well clear this out of the way. I think Hazel has a lot of internal issues to get through, and she still needs her fairies, and it's pretty evident in this episode.

Dig A Little Deeper:

A fun episode that was basically Hazel having a special interest in geology and the lengths Hazel will go to make a perfect presentation about rocks. It's so rad! There's not really much to say about it. I liked the rock monsters and the adventures, it was quite fun!

The bedazzled wands were a hit with me tbh. I would totally own a bedazzled wand.

Potazel Hazel:

Mother Nature got that epic design and you can't argue with it. It's cooler than the music fairy' design and I thought she was neat! I'm ADORING the expansion to fairy lore we've been getting, the writers really know what they're doing. God I love this show

Overall this episode was really great! A good one about eating a healthy, balanced meal and such. Great for kids I guess

There was a great fucking song in this one too! I love how Hazel's VA sings, the songs are pretty damn good in this show!

AHHH never apologize for sending asks, and any kind of ask is welcome here! I don't reply to all of them, obviously, mostly because of time constraints and sometimes because the topic might be too mentally exhausting for me to deal with. Honestly I love getting asks so that I have NEW content daily for everyone... asks are the lifeblood of this blog, and I don't get many of them these days, not nearly as much as I got in the past. It's the only reason the content is less here, because I don't have the engagement much anymore.

As for types of asks, I like asks that can be answered in 10 to 15 minutes, because those are my fave ones on weeknights when I just want to get off my computer after a LONG day at work, but my obsessive need to ensure I have at least two new posts daily won't let me NOT answer SOMETHING. But HONESTLY, I've been really enjoying the ones you've been sending me, I just haven't a chance to sit down and get to all of them because, as I said, some require more thought than others.

I like fic rec asks because it gives me content on Sundays. I'm running out of them. I like asks about me, because I'm lonely but my shit self esteem won't allow me to... be a bother to anyone, so I just keep everything bottled up. I like the advice asks that allow me to be a big sister, because that's what I'm good at.

I like asks that ask my opinion on movies and TV shows, meta-style asks, and just.... getting to know me, I guess :)

I don't like TOO personal asks, hate asks, passive aggressive asks, pushy asks... just standard asks that "if you wouldn't like getting this ask, why do you think I would like it?".

But yeah, my blog pretty much lives on asks, so if I'm not getting them, then I'm not posting as often.

just got home from seeing Saw X with @endlessly-vivid and I HAVE SO MANY. SO MANY EMOTIONS ABOUT IT. [spoilers for saw x under the cut]

-THIS WAS FUCKING AMAZING. GENUINELY. PROBABLY MY FAVORITE SAW SINCE SAW 3, AND DEFINITELY IN MY TOP 5 SAW FILMS OF ALL TIME.

-THE REFERENCE TO THE FIRST FILM WHEN KRAMER GETS UP FROM THE BLOOD (?) TRAP THING

-the reveal was SO SO FUCKING GOOD. we obviously know john and amanda survive, but having the kid to keep the audience on their toes and desperately trying to figure out HOW we get to saw 3 after this was great

-THE VICTIMS WERE SO LIKABLE. genuinely this entire cast of victims were acted and written phenomenally. every single one of them, even someone with so little screen time like valentina or a person we're set up to hate like cecilia had SO much character and i was rooting for all of them at the same time. gabriella's performance was especially amazing, but all of them really were great

-on top of being likable, they were also all so humanized. the little details like mateo needing a translation of the tape and gabriella tossing the tape away when she got scared or trying to hit the radiation with the hammer were so great.

-ALSO how close they all got to surviving their traps was so heart wrenching and insane like i was on the edge of my seat every time.

-AMANDA AMANDA AMANDA. she has always slayed, she has always been an indie horror sweetheart but this movie was one of my favorites pieces of her that we've seen. there is so much more depth and incentive added to a lot of her actions in saw 3 now and it is gorgeous. also shawnee smith gave a beautiful performance as always

-THE HIGHLIGHTING OF JIGSAW'S HYPOCRISY CONTRASTED WITH CECILIA'S WAS AMAZING. cecilia, a wealthy white woman taking advantage of those she has privilege over being a mirror to the way jigsaw blames people for systemic problems that are often times out of their control. cecilia in general was a great villain.

-HOFFMAN CAMEO I SCREAMED.

-my one gripe with the film (sorry i love to critique) is the traps. they were all super creative and it was awesome to see an extra level of complexity added to some of them compared to prior traps, but some of them were so anatomically and medically impossible that i got annoyed watching 😭 mateo acting completely normal after removing like two inches of brain matter and everyone having unrealistically short periods to complete their tasks was annoying BUT the traps were all hella cool so i cant even be truly angry. my favorite was probably mateo's. it was the first saw trap in a while to make me wince and definitely one of the traps where i would be using those tools to kms asap instead of actually attempting to survive lmao

-autumn brought this up to me and i agree so much but the return to some of the classic saw editing was so refreshing and nostalgic.

-i have so many other thoughts but this is all i can organize right now. AHHH, 4.5/5 stars, can't remember the last time i was so hyped in a theater

Uhhhh yeah sure why not. Just so ya know, not great at giving art tutorials so I have no idea how helpful you'll actually find this, but I'll try my best 👍

And this might not need saying, but just so we're on the same page, when I draw the MM turtles I don't exactly stay 100% on model. I generally try to draw them similarly to how they actually look, but I also take some ✨artistic liberties✨, as is the nature of fanart.

Okay let's start with heads, that's probably the one of the MM boys' most distinct feature. For Raph and Leo it's easy to divide their heads up in two main shapes. The lower part of their head sticks out quite a bit compared to the upper part. I dunno how clear it is in these images but compared to Leo, Raph has a bit of a wider head (mostly the cheeks) and the top of it is flatter. Leo's head is a bit more round-ish while Raph's is slightly more angular.

For Mikey and Donnie it's easier to just view their heads as one single shape (The lower part of their heads are still wider than the upper part, but it's not as noticeable as it is with their other brothers) Mikey's head is just straight up an oval. Well, not exactly, like an oval and a rectangle with mixed together. Donne's is less stretched out, like a circle and a rectangle mixed together.

But that's the movie, when it comes my art I have a tendency to dial down the differences between their heads and draw them a bit more overall roundish. (Except for like Donnie, I actually tend to make his face a bit more stretched out and rectangular lol)

I'm still figuring out how exactly I wanna draw these guys TBH, so my art of them isn't super consistent. That being said, there's a lot of squash and stretch going on in the movie's animation when it comes to facial expressions. So even in the movie their head-shapes aren't super consistent either.

Anyway, body proportions!

Aside from maybe height the brother all have pretty similar body-types. Raph I would say looks the most different, being a bit wider. Particularly his carapace is almost bit pear shaped? It gets wider the further down it goes is what I'm trying to say. Leo, Donnie and Mikey have a more consistent rectangular shape. (Another detail I noticed while making this was that it seems that Leo and Donnie have six scutes on their plastron, while Raph and Mikey have 8. It's a bit hard to see tho because their belts are kinda in the way)

With specifically their limbs, Donnie and Mikey are a bit lankier, while Raph and Leo have slightly thicker muscles (tho still rather lanky compared to other iterations of the turtles)

When I draw them they (like with their head shapes) end up more similar to each other than they are with their canon designs. I also draw them with slightly less thin limbs.

Shell! It was hard finding good images of the back of their shells so I dunno exactly how many scutes they have back there, but it seems to be 3 columns at the very least? (Also I think Leo might have a comparatively slightly smaller shell than his brothers?)

The shells also generally take up a bit more than half of their side-profile. Looking more closely at these reference images have made me realize that I draw their shells a bit flat lol.

I don't know how much more help I can give when it comes to their designs. I just end off with some details to remember when drawing them.

Raph is missing a tooth, and Mikey has braces. (Leo had braces in the concept art and I'm stubborn and insist on drawing him with them also because fuck you)

They all have a few scratches here and there, but in typical Raph fashion, he has a LOT of scratches on his plastron. Also his beltbuckle has tape on it.

The space between their eyes is narrower than the size of one of their eyes, except for Mikey. Him having a wider face makes his ...nosebridge(?)... whatever, the space there is approximately the width of one of his eyes. Some facial anatomy for ya'

Another face anatomy thing, the ends of their mouths mostly lines up with the outer edge of their eyes (they're pretty wide)

MY SUPER MARIO MOVIE REVIEW (SPOILERS AHEAD)

Okay, so I have finally composed myself and I will say…man…the Mario movie was fun!

My overall review is its very funny, full of heart and the animation is gorgeous. There’s a lot of unexpected scenes that I found heartwarming and added to the characters/ plot.❤️

However…that being said…the pacing and script is my main concern. I know they have to fit a large chunk of lore for a good runtime, but there isn’t much development.

“But Moon, mario wasn’t all about story” I know, but a movie provides a chance to add story at a cinematic level.

Expanding the world and if not that the characters. If anything, I do not mind the simple plot. Mario needs to save Luigi and work alongside Princess Peach to defeat Bowser. Perfect.

However. I would have really liked more expanded characters. But I will elaborate below because that’s not my only critique.

CONS/ WHAT I WISH IT HAD MORE OF:

-I wish the bros got more screen time. Their chemistry and brotherly love was amazing, and I was itching to see more of them together.🥺

-that fight at the end with Bowser tho WAS EPIC! But Luigi was super underutilized omg… I really thought he was gonna have another role in the movie. I think they missed out on the side characters having more of a role or even a conversation…

-Speaking of which, idk, I found Lumalee kind of annoying. I know it’s probably going to set up a future movie…but I thought at least we would get some insight as to why the Luma was captured, why it hates living so much, idk….lol. But I did love the voice of Lumalee, super cute :)

-characterization. Apart from Mario and a LITTLE of luigi, and DK, the rest felt bland… I feel like bowser could have been more fleshed out (but don’t get me wrong, I loved how he had a crush on peach, his song and planned on marrying her. AHHH I LOVED IT) toad could have been more fleshed out. What are his goals at least? Not every character has to have an internal conflict, but he just felt…there. And what a shame because hes charming!

-okay guys, but peachs characterization. I’m sorry, this deserves its own post, so I will hyperlink it here when I finishing writing that, but omg yeah I am not quite attached to her portrayal yet😅 what a shame too because I love her so much…

-wish we spent some more time getting to know Mario’s family😭

-not a fleshed out ending. Hoped that peach would have reacted being on earth, maybe a montage of Brooklyn adjusting to having this pipe that leads to another world. What was the cities response overall when it came to cleanup? I know they have HAD to had some questions why a huge gorilla with a tie was there…and talking! Lol…

POSITIVES/ WHAT I FREAKIN LOVEDDDDD:

-Mario. Omg they freakin ACED Mario. His character flaws, his goals, aspirations, internal conflict, personality, everything I headcanoned/ hoped for. He’s a goofball who loves adventure, plumbing and loves his family. His determination, stubbornness, (RIZZ HE GOT THAT RIZZ!!!) and charm. Ugh. That affirms it. He’s my fav. I wanted to hug him through the screen many times SO BAD!!!🥺❤️

-luigi and Mario’s brotherly love/chemistry. Omg. The flashback of them as babies and when Mario was cupping Luigi’s face and almost crying out of relief. Like omg omg I’m so happy to that attention to detail😭🥺❤️ they love each other so much it’s just… *chefs kiss* I’m hoping for future movies we get more brotherly scenes, I’m still waiting for that piggyback ride🫶❤️

-baby peach. I just…I wasn’t expecting it. She was so cute and the fact that the toads just adopted her and raised her as their own tells goes sweet they are. 🥹 I’m so glad we got some of a backstory for her! But Omg…she was someone’s child then! :o I love lore…

-bowsers singing and the song peaches is a legit masterpiece. If my man don’t make a song like this and doesn’t sing it with that much enthusiasm I don’t want him!!😤😤😂💞but yep Jack black was awesome hehe he had me dying of laughter and he was super intimidating as Bowser!! He understood the assignment 💅🏼

-which reminds me. I love the plot of Bowser wanting to marry Peach and getting jealous of Mario. I wish we got Mario’s reaction of peach wearing the wedding dress tho I don’t think it really hit him that Bowser was trying to marry Peach…

- speaking of which…Mareach! We got a few cute scenes!! Nothing major, but I see that they are making it a slow burn romance 😏😂 okay, I can wait! While I wish we got more scenes, I loved how DK called out Mario’s attempts at flirting, Peach calling him adorable when he had his cat suit🥺🥺 and her giggles when Mario promises to buy her a pet turtle if she comes to Brooklyn. That was so freakin cute!!!❤️❤️🥹 you can tell Mario likes her, and peach has a fondness for him :)))

-CAT MARIO WAS SO ADORABLE DID YOU SEE WHEN HE BEAT DONKEY KONG HE WAS KNEEDING ON HIM LIKE A CAT WOULD AHHHHH-

-the animation and the storyboarding. Everything art related. The score. I wanted to fly when I heard bowsers theme. I wanted to cry seeing the beautifully crafted action scenes and I can’t wait to see the storyboards 😭❤️ illumination went all the way!!! Also the character design!!! I love all of their designs!!!

-the pop songs were a nice touch and the humor was great. :3

-SEEING MARIOS FAMILY AND THE FACT THAT CHARLES PLAYS THEIR DAD IS SO ADORABLE AND AWESOME I WAS FREAKIN FANGIRLING!!!

-also like I headcanoned THEIR MAMA IS SO ADORABLE I LOVE HER SO MUCH!!! No wonder they came out as sweet incredible boys 🥺🧡

-the soundtrack man. They were cooking up in the studio I’m telling you!!! I heard it’s on Spotify now so I’m gonna be listening to it lol

-luigi is so precious but I wish HE HAD MORE SCREENTIME

-DK and Mario’s relationship give me rowdy sibling vibes and I’m here for it

-I love how they can travel from Brooklyn to mushroom kingdom through the pipe, at first I thought it was a star VS the forces of evil thing and the worlds merged until I realized the ending… XD

-I loved all the voices!! I think everyone did an amazing job, I heard a few inconsistencies throughout the movie but meh, everyone seemed excited for their roles!!!🧡🫶

If I can think of anything else I will add, but yeah, I think I had higher expectations for the movie😅 I think if it had a bit more time to flesh out characters, it would have been SUPER great. I loved all the references inside the movie, you can tell it was crafted with passion and love❤️ it was a very fun experience and of course the BRAINROT increased💞

John Williams wrote the score. He's BRILLIANT. There are dozens of movie scores that are instantly recognizable that he's composed. He's in his 90s now, I believe. When he passes I will actually cry.

The hotel sounds wonderous at Christmas! I also love the miniature Christmas towns (they make Halloween ones too). Idk why, miniatures of real things have always captivated me.

I don't mind answering at all. Definitely not nervous. I just don't like having my picture taken very much. Not a big fan of my appearance, usually. I was excited to meet the Christmas celebrity. But the face is mostly my surprise at his claws scratching my head. I'm sure he meant it to be scary...but it felt...good. 🫣 Don't tell him so if you meet him. I'm sure he wouldn't be pleased to hear it! Hah!

Oh dear, I can see how Spooky Scary Skeletons on repeat would drive anyone off the deep end. There aren't many Spooky songs though. Trying to find playlists and it's always the same handful of songs. I will shamelessly listen to Monster Mash on repeat on Halloween night though.

Oh everyone truly goes all out for Halloween. Surprisingly its one of the calmest nights of the year since everyone is trying to enjoy themselves and party. Not usually focusing on each other. Charlie loves to throw Halloween party at the Hotel every year. Its quite fun!

And well, its a costume party and as much as I despise it. It is...tolerable and slightly enjoyable. Dear Charlie dressed up as Jack Skellington last year. That party was quite a blast! You know, there's a lottery for all of the Pride Ring where whoever wins gets to roam the Overworld on Halloween night? Its quite a disturbing thing to think about. Hah!

Oh...hah, Stanley tried to eat Angel Dust's pig. It didn't end that well. Angel ended up chasing poor little reptilian around the Hotel with a bat until I finally put an end to it. No, you did not tell me that! Hah! That's quite clever! I've read the book. Its quite good! Although not the movie.
