Wife and I now have an annual tradition called Pot and Repot, where we do a weed gummy and then repot our too-numerous houseplants. Here are a few we moved into pots we made ourselves!

I've been taking a 5 week pottery workshop on wheel throwing (it's neat!) and we got up to glazing last week. When you glaze pots, the glaze starts as a a thick liquid and then dries really quick into a powdery form (on your clay piece). I was asking my instructor about clean up and she was like "oh you can just rub off the excess carefully, but try not to get dust in the air as it's a little toxic. obviously you're wearing a mask but the rest of us aren't"

(my partner and i wear masks b/c it's inside and that's just what we still do. it sucks but it's better than covid and also now inhaling dust/fumes)

I kinda wanted to respond "maybe we should all be wearing masks??" like if not for covid concerns, at least for the semi-toxic powder we're all just handling/some folks are breathing in O.O

(i didn't b/c tbh i'm still a little on edge with the going out/doing stuff in public thing/esp indoors and people misgender me/mispronounce my name constantly and honestly sometimes you just want to do ceramics and not fight with people. it also just didn't feel winnable)

I feel like there's so many things like that that people just disregard as a risk that don't need to be, but as a society (US at least), we just never wanted to have that conversation (it was at best, begrudging, at the height of government awareness of covid and now it's completely gone by the wayside). At this point people either respond negatively or aggressively to any suggestion of it.

But like we've all had that one art teacher/professor who was a little bit off b/c they'd just been inhaling toxic paint fumes their whole career and it was always written off as just a quirk/part of the job (maybe things are better now? new art students feel free to chime in) and not something that could have been mitigated.

idk, it just makes me sad that we never got to even have the conversation about how so many jobs/hobbies should use more personal safety equipment than they do (either b/c people feel inconvenienced by it or don't know).

(tangent but i remain appalled at how many people i see riding bikes/etc around here that don't wear helmets! it's fucking wild to me, like we had the "wear a helmet or your head will be shattered like an egg" demonstrations as early as elementary school in massachusetts. Like it's just silly not to, and yet so many people in cali are like "a helmet? i don't know her". Also adults will agree that children should, but they shouldnt?!? wear a helmet for biking/skating/etc is the hill i will die on, esp on pavement)

Car Troubles – Tyler Owens

When I got in my car, I leaned my head against the headrest and closed my eyes. I drove to the store and grabbed a few things I needed. I put the groceries in the back and started to drive home.

I didn't get very far.

When I pulled out of the parking lot, my car stalled. I was able to pull to the side of the street and into the emergency lane. I turned my car off and sat there for a second. I tried to turn it on, but it stalled again.

"Oh, come on," I sighed as I tried to turn my car on a third time.

I yanked the key out and sat back. I jumped out of my car and opened the hood. I stared at the engine, no idea where to start.

"Y/N?"

I looked around to see Tyler Owens jogging toward me. "Are you okay?" He asked.

"Oh um. . . Hi, Tyler," I stuttered.

"We're you hit? Are you hurt?" He asked as he scanned me for injuries.

"I'm fine," I said, slightly surprised by his concern. "My car just stalled. I think. I'm not entirely sure."

"Want me to take a look at it?"

"You know things about cars?" I asked. I cleared my throat, hoping that I didn't come across as rude.

"I do," he smirked.

I crossed my arms over my chest as Tyler messed with a few things. I hadn't noticed that I'd been rubbing my arms until Tyler quickly took off his jacket and wrapped it around my shoulders.

"Thanks," I said, sounding softer than I wish I had.

"No problem," he smiled genuinely. He sent me a smile before going back to fixing my car.

"I can call someone," I stuttered, not sure how to feel right now.

It was weird. Watching my old neighbor fix my car. Tyler and I were never close but that doesn't mean I didn't notice him. Of course, I noticed him. He's gorgeous. And funny. And smart. How could I not notice him?

"We're good," Tyler said with his head fully under the hood of my car.

"You sure? I have Tripe-A. They can be here in like, 10 minutes."

"Nope! No need. I got this, Y/N."

"Okay," I mumbled. He sent me a playful glare and I responded with an innocent smile.

Growing up, I only ever interacted with Tyler when our parents went to the same barbeque or rodeo. He'd smile and ask how I was, but I was too shy to keep the conversation going.

Tyler was your typical cowboy. He even competed. I, however, was and still am an art nerd. I spent all of school in the art room. I constantly had dried paint on my hands, pottery under my nails, and at least three paintbrushes in my bag.

I never believed that Tyler saw me as anything other than his dorky, quiet, art neighbor.

"Okay," he sighed, snapping me out of my thoughts. "I may have over-estimated myself."

"You? Over-estimated? Never," I teased, making him laugh. "Why did you over-estimate yourself?"

"I don't know as much about cars as I thought I did," he confessed.

"So," I elongated, "can I call Tripe-A now?"

"Probably," he chuckled, "before I accidentally blow your car up."

* * * * *

We sat on my hood as we waited for Triple-A. At first, we talked about his tornado-chasing career. Okay, let's be honest. We mainly talked about his tornado-chasing career.

"I still remember the first time I saw one of your videos," I giggled.

"You found us on YouTube?"

"Actually, one of my classmates ran up to me when she found out I was from the same town as the famous, Tornado Wrangler."

I smirked when his face turned a slight shade of pink. "Yeah," he chuckled awkwardly.

"I watched the video and kept thinking you were as fearless as I remembered." My smile slowly fell, "I could never be that brave."

"I'm not brave," he tried to brush off.

"Yeah, you are," I gently corrected him. "You run into a tornado and never second guess yourself. You know exactly what to do every time. I never know what to do. On a daily basis, I struggle to make basic decisions, and yet you, in the face of danger, don't hesitate. You've always been like this. How do you do it, Tyler?"

"I don't know," he said honestly. "I guess. . . I never had anything to be worried about."

"What do you mean?"

"I've never worried about how what I do affects someone important in my life," he said, looking up at me. "I never had someone to be safe for."

It felt like something shifted. And I wasn't sure if it was a bad thing.

Unable to handle the different scenarios flowing through my head, I cleared my throat and pulled my knees into my chest.

"You really don't have to wait with me."

"What kind of guy would I be if I left you on the side of the road, by yourself, waiting for some creepy old guy to show up in a tow truck?"

"Most guys in this town," I mumbled. I forced my brain to not think about. . .

"What happened?"

"What do you mean?" I stuttered. "What happened when?"

"What happened with the guy to make you not trust all the guys in this town?" He asked, looking at me with soft knowing eyes.

"It doesn't matter," I said, looking away from his eyes. It felt like my heart jumped into my throat when he reached over and grabbed my hand.

"It does matter," he said gently when I finally looked at him. "Who broke your heart, Y/N?"

"It wasn't quite that dramatic," I chuckled awkwardly. "I was dating this guy after high school. You had already left for school. We only dated for about three weeks before. . . I was in an accident."

"Wait, what?" He panicked. "Were you hurt?"

"Not really," I shrugged, slightly confused as to why Tyler freaked out so much. "It was a small hit and run, but my car was totaled. I called the guy over and over again but nothing. He never called back. Never texted me. Never even checked to see if I was okay. I broke up with him over an unanswered text."

"What a piece of shit," Tyler scoffed. "I'm glad you ended things."

"He wasn't worth it," I said. "Turns out, I'm the kind of girl that needs a guy who shows up when she needs help."

"There's nothing wrong with that," he said with a soft smile. Silence fell between us as we stared at each other.

"Y/N," he slowly started, "I have to tell you. . ."

Tyler was cut off by a loud alarm coming from the nearby grocery store. Suddenly, the alarm echoed off our phones.

"What is that?" I asked as I grabbed my phone out of my pocket. I looked over to see Tyler's eyes wide. He didn't need to check his phone.

"Tornado warning."

This 1975 fixer upper in Shelton, WA used to be an art/pottery studio & home on Harstine Island in the middle of Puget Sound, so it's a great location. Has 2bds, 2ba, and lots of potential. Asking $595K. I like it, see what you think.

So, it's a little weather beaten on the exterior. I wonder if that's some of the pottery they made.

If you're a wood lover, you'll be into this house. The carpet isn't bad, but that wallpaper would have to go. It's too dull for my taste.

Very unusual architecture. The interior really isn't that bad. This wood looks to be in good shape.

Large living room with a modern fireplace. The walls and ceiling look new with lovely skylights. Big windows provide a beautiful view of the sound.

Look at this fabulous feature. Love this.

I like the kitchen, it's different and has a great work triangle setup. I would just give the cabinets a light sanding and a couple of coats of polyurethane. The floor needs some TLC, too.

How cool is this? Look at that stove. The floor is worn so it looks like they spent a lot of time here. I don't blame them, it's cozy AF. All it needs is some new cushions and covers.

The back door- the hall has a lof of space for coats and stuff.

How gorgeous is this 2 story library? All it needs is a new set of cushion covers.

Cute little wood stove by the stairs.

Primary bedroom has built-ins and a big window w/a great view.

Nice closet/dressing area.

Large en-suite has vintage double sinks. This house is not bad inside, you could give it a good cleaning and live here while you do the work.

Sunken tub and shower. Look at the little door above the tub.

Check this out, a water closet with a marble top sink and interesting toilet.

There are decks all around the house, and here's a large one over the carport. Now let's have a look at the studio.

Oh, wow, this is huge.

This is fabulous.

Look, they left the pottery wheel and the area where they do the clay. So cool.

Upstairs in the loft. This has potential. It could be made into an apt. for an artist.

Seungcheol Okay, everyone says it; sugar daddy Cheol. The man loves to spoil his partner and although he'll still get gifts delivered to you whenever he feels like it, it's not quite the same as taking you around stores in person to see which items make your eyes truly light up. And if it's clothing he's buying for you, you can bet your ass there's a fashion show involved with lots of Seungcheol taking photos of you on burst mode and cooing(or catcalling depending on the clothes).

Jeonghan Honestly, Jeonghan doesn't have the energy most of the time to do a lot. Don't get me wrong, he's definitely more than willing to do pretty much anything you want for bigger planned dates, but for the spontaneous ones, he'll always pick to just go somewhere private with you and relax. Sitting on the sofa with you, tucked up in each other's arms while you just enjoy one another's company with a movie or music on will always be his favourite dates.

Joshua This guy likes to try new things, especially crafts so he'll always have a list on his phone of classes and activities going on in your local area so that when there's time, even if it's pretty last minute, he has potential options. Sometimes you go paint pottery, other times you learn to cook something new and even one very memorable time, you tried glass blowing. Regardless of what activity it is, you both enjoy every second because it's together. And Joshua always treasures whatever item you two make.

Junhui Jun does have a lot of energy in general but when he's with you, he doesn't want to miss a second. So on these last-minute dates, he really likes to take you cloud gazing in the day or stargazing at night. It's always nice to just lay side by side on a blanket admiring the sky pressed side to side and feeling the other's presence. It's grounding and one of the only times he can genuinely remain still. He'll even do research about clouds/stars so that he can impress you with his knowledge and have you look at him with big eyes of awe and interest as he talks.

Soonyoung Picnics are cute af and Soonyoung is very aware of that. Whether they're outdoors in the sun, in the backseat of the car or even in a building somewhere, he loves to grab the blanket from the car and snacks and lead you somewhere new to explore and sit together. If there's more time, he'll convince you to make food together to take beforehand but you're both always plenty content with whatever snacks you can grab from the convenience store. Sometimes he'll take little activities like travel games or a little craft kit too if he has the chance to plan ahead a little, or if he sees one in the store while grabbing snacks.

Wonwoo It didn't start intentionally that when you both have the time to go on a date, you'll always go to the arcade. You would always start the dates wandering around aimlessly as you both try to think of something to do and inevitably spot an arcade, exchange a look and then rush inside giggling like a pair of children. So at some point, you two would without discussion navigate to the arcade and it sort of becomes a thing to compare them all. Wonwoo has it all written out on a notes app on his phone; which arcade has the best games, has snacks or food, toilets, and how busy they are at particular times. When you have more time for the dates, you'll even drive further away to check out the arcades there too.

Jihoon This dude is always so busy that he worries he doesn't actually check in on you enough and make sure you're looking after yourself. So you can bet that his go-to for spontaneous dates is going to a restaurant. Sometimes a brand new one but you two have a few favourites that you're considered regulars at. He never tells you why he always suggests going to eat, of course, so as far as you're aware he's just hungry(which isn't entirely false) but really, it's so that he can look across the table and see you eating well and know that he's not failing in his job at looking after you as his partner.

Seokmin Seokmin loves photography, the guy takes photos at every chance he gets. A lot of people say he's not living in the moment by taking photos all the time but he does it for the sake of memories so that he has a way to look back on the pictures and remember the happy time. And the subject he wants to always remember the most? You. So of course, he'll make up for lost time apart by taking you somewhere pretty/cute/interesting he's noticed on his travels or heard about to take endless photos of you, and many of you together too but mostly you so that he can never forget the way you always smile at him with stars in your eyes.

Mingyu Okay, I didn't really want to do this because it's very much done with Gyu but cooking. He's a great cook and food is a great way to show love, so it makes sense. Plus it means that you can hang out at home with no pressure or unwanted eyes and just be together. Yes, he loves doing the cheesy things like putting his arms around you and his hands over yours to work together, or standing with his chest to your back and his chin on your shoulder. He always melts if you wrap around his back though, it makes him super giggly.

Minghao Minghao is a simple guy really, he just likes to be with you so he loves going on walks with you, hand in hand. Sometimes you're both silent for long stretches of time but it's not awkward in any way, it's calm, comfortable, and you're content. And others you both talk endlessly about everything and anything that comes to mind. Minghao loves that he feels that he can talk to you forever and never run out of words to say. But he also loves that you can remain quiet together and not feel like you need to fill the silence. He will also love taking you into cute stores/bakeries/cafes that you happen to pass to explore and get little treats.

Seungkwan Seungkwan himself is not the most confident driver at all but he's always happy to take you on drives. Though he loves it when you drive, loves watching you navigate the roads diligently while still remaining calm even when traffic picks up. But the drives for the spontaneous dates usually take advantage of all the quieter roads and even go out of town sometimes if you have enough time. There's never any destination in mind but stops are definitely okay too. Caraoke is a must, with both of you singing along enthusiastically to the carefully curated playlists Seungkwan makes for these drives, just for the two of you and filled with your favourite songs.

Vernon Dude loves movies and dissecting all the details and plot after. And he loves doing it with you the most. You didn't really care for discussing movies at first, just wanted to enjoy it in the moment but after Vernon got really animated the first few times, you started to get into it. And now it's kind of your thing together. You regularly go to the cinema when you can to see things on the big screen and then get a meal after where you'll talk it over for hours. But Vernon also loves curling up on the couch with you and watching a movie at home together.

Chan Chan likes to make any time together about the two of you. About being with you and experiencing you as best as he can. So he likes taking you to cute little places that are lesser known so remain quiet and peaceful enough to allow him to focus on you. Cafes and bakeries are his favourite places to go where you can sit down opposite each other at a little table with a drink or a light meal/ dessert and just talk and catch up. He can easily spend hours with you, just smiling across the table and listening to you talk about whatever and never get bored.

and Tommy has been in his personal space before, but this feels different. and while Tommy is nonethewiser (he thinks Buck is straight) Buck realises when Tommy pulls away that he's got a boner and it's confusing af and embarrassing and he has to excuse himself to the bathroom where he talks down his dick and pulls himself out of a spiral by convincing himself that it's just a very strong reaction to a beneficial, enjoyable learning process. he's got a hard-on for knowledge and acquiring new skills, that's all. yeah. makes sense.

Imagine.

Post The Sunshine Court. Some time has passed but not much. Jean is still healing. Jeremy is down bad but refuses to admit it. Renee goes to visit Jean in LA and they spend the day together as friends before meeting up with the floosies for lunch at the mall.

The floosies get milkshakes then sit down in the food court to wait for R and J. Jeremy is mid sentence, talking about Barkbark or pottery or something silly and happy, and then he cuts off, choking on his words and his milkshake and he slaps a hand over his mouth, coughing, his face turns a brilliant shade of red. Curious, the floosies glance over their shoulders to see what Jer saw to provoke such a visceral reaction.

J and R are walking toward them. Renee has somehow conned Jean into taking part in a classic Fox bet but with a spin and Jean has evidently lost. The cost? He has to swap shirts with her for an hour.

She looks tiny and adorable in his comparatively massive Trojan black tee (striped cardinal red ofc). Grinning with tacky-af red heart sunglasses balanced atop her head.

But Jean? Jean in Renee’s pastel pink shirt (that’s comfortable on her but positively TINY on him, hugging him so tight you can see his pecs and biceps, revealing the slope of his hips and the smooth, scarred panes of his abdomen— a certified midriff), complete with a pastel rainbow bear on the chest? Yeah. Yeaa.

And the floosies look back at Jeremy, all with matching smirks, but our golden boy can’t look up. Suddenly the paper straw of his oat milk caramel milkshake is the most interesting thing in the world. The floosies are smiling. Jean is scowling, muttering grumpy French. Jer is red red.

Right before the Fox and former Raven get within ear shot, all he can muster is a quiet “shuddup” to his grinning friends. Later, when he’s alone, he’ll think of gray eyes and heart shaped glasses.

And they are all happy.
