Loki s2 Ep 5 Review
this will be short but SPOILERS AHEAD
ok so this is basically the umbrella academy season 2 in one episode except nobody remembers shit (loki = five ?)
O.B IS SO PRECIOUS HELLO
casey being a fawking criminal on the time line is not what i was expecting, but what especially caught me off guard is that he is based on a real person 😭😭 helppp
b-15...just b-15 🥹
ofc mobius' son would want a snake, i can smell future scene of loki conjuring him one or something. also love how the other boy seems to be mischivious?? they are adorableee
btw yall i wouldn't really bother worrying if mobius is donald blake cuz let's not forget that in the sacred time line he was a scientist who used to date jane. thor merely used it as an alias, mobius is NOT thor alright
not loki getting nervous then checking if he looks good before approaching mobius 😭 my dude
was that a...confession? hmm
o.b is actually impressive
yess go off sylvie, call him out ! 💀
sylvie's arms 😵💫 good day to be a lesbian
what's up with the tension between o.b and casey..? this series is full of homosexuals /j
here we go with the parallels again, loki talking about why he wants the tva back (his friends/mobius) is highkey giving me deja vu about how mobius was dodging loki's questions about why he wouldn't leave the tva (i'm delusional)
not casey catching strays 😭 leave him alone damn
oh we are all getting infinity war flashbacks right.
ok this may be biased but why does it feel like loki is the current "main character" of the mcu? he's like the tony stark of phase 4-5. like, that power moment ???
and again, the soundtrack ‼️ we freakin love you natalie holt 🫶

This!!!!
And another thing-
All of the little details about OB just break my fucking heart, like
-him being so excited to see Mobius again even though the only interaction he ever had with him was Mobius accidentally showing up in his workshop once and then immediately leaving
-it being 400 years since his last visitor
-when Loki asked past!Ouroboros if he could call him OB and he says “OB? I like that :)” because he was happy that someone would want to give him a nickname
-him explaining what the TVA guidebook was after realising that no one in the group had ever read it and then quietly saying “I wrote it myself.”
-him saying “it’s great being part of a team :)” after explaining that he takes care of all the engineering stuff for everybody and no one ever interacts with him, and then hopefully asking “how’s the team doing up there?” like he’s sort of desperately trying to reassure himself that he is, in fact, important and a part of the team
-in one of the tube things in his workshop (I think this is in the credits sequence) there’s just a moldy banana and the work slip says it’s from a hunter, which maybe sort of implies that the hunters play mean jokes on him :(
-there’s also a prop poster on his floor that says sending inappropriate notes, live animals, and some other stuff down in the tubes is prohibited, which implies he’s had that happen enough times to make a poster about it. Which also implies the other workers just like to mess with him
-the fact that he seems to be the only TVA worker that didn’t have his memories wiped- which could mean he’s some all powerful being or something- but I’m pretty sure it just means that even Kang didn’t find him significant enough to brainwash, and he probably knew OB stayed alone in the basement all the time anyway so there was no chance of him blowing the ruse
-the way that all the other people at the TVA (even B-15 and Mobius) had to be convinced that pruning people was bad, but when OB mentioned deleting a bunch of timelines and B-15 said “that would kill all those people, we can’t do that.” he immediately just agreed and said he’d find another solution
-Mobius asking how tf he’s supposed to hoof it in that suit and OB saying “You have to!!” Like he has no reason to care about Mobius dying but he does
-there are “Danger!!! Maximum radiation!!!!” signs all over the walls of the loom room or whtvr but OB’s office is just like… feet from it. And he stays in there all the time. And no one seems to care ?
-how he was just so solemn and frantic and emotional throughout the whole astronaut Mobius scene, when again, none of that should even matter to him. The only thing he needs to do is close the loom door- all this fixing Loki business is extraneous.
I just love him. He has so much heart, he has such a big personality. And we’ve only known him for like 50 minutes so far 😭. I require this show to end with a found family, and I require Ouroboros to be part of it. He deserves friends, damn it!!

Well like many, the Loki S2 finale has me still reeling and I have had this little drabble on my brain and had to get it out. I am not really a writer, I've not written a fic since I was a teenager probably lol so be easy on me but alas, I hope this is enjoyed by those who also just couldn't bear the thought of Loki being alone at the end of time forever.
Description: Loki uses his time slipping abilities to talk to you one last time before making the decision he knows he has to in order to save those he loves. But, you aren't so willing to let him condemn himself to an eternity alone, or yourself to a lifetime without him.
Word Count: 1367
Warnings: DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVENT SEEN LOKI S2 EP6!! Angst, sadness, happy ending mostly
••••••••••••••
"How are you doing this?", you asked as you watched strands of space and time float around you and Loki throughout A.D Doug's workshop.
"We're outside of time. Darling, I had to see you. I had to speak to you." Loki said, a sorrowful look on his face that you had never seen before. "The Loom, it was a failsafe all along. And no amount of scaling can account for infinite timelines. I thought we had it, I really did", he explained.
"Damnit, we should have known it would be...", you lamented.
"I spent centuries trying to figure it out, and it was all for nothing."
"Centuries?" you questioned.
"It's hard to explain" he responded. "Darling, there are only two options. Go back and kill Sylvie before she kills He Who Remains and allow the Sacred Timeline to continue--"
You cut him off. "You can't Loki! The Sacred Timeline is full of misery, injustice, and sadness - what the TVA stood for under He Who Remains was all wrong! We can't go back to that. And you know you could never kill Sylvie...not after everything we have all been through together."
"I know...", he said, a sad knowing in his voice and his eyes. "But there is one other way."
"And what's that?"
"Me".
"What? You? I don't understand Loki..." you said cautiously.
"The finite power of a machine can never handle the infinite timelines of a multiverse, but the infinite power of a God can", he said as he watched your face intently for any hint of reaction.
It took a moment as you stared at him, blinking. "Do you mean..." you questioned, as the realization of what he was saying started to set in.
"Yes, my love. Believe me, if there was any other way, I swear I would take it. But there isn't. I know what kind of God I need to be, for you, for all of us. It's the only way."
"Loki, if this is what you have to do, then please, take me with you at least!" you implored.
"My darling y/n, you know I can not do that. I must bear this burden alone, and you must go live your life on the timeline, the one you deserve to have. I could never condemn you to an eternity of solitude at the End of Time", he said sorrowfully.
"But you'll condemn me to a life of solitude on Earth? Loki, I can't live without you. There's no life for me down there if it's not with you! Please, as long as our friends are happy, and I'm with you, that's all I'll need. Please let me go with you!". The last part came out as a sob as your emotions got the best of you. You couldn't believe what he was talking about doing, the sacrifice he planned to make for the ones he loved.
"When I go back there, to that moment in time, you won't remember any of this. You won't know you said you wanted to go with me," he reminded you.
"Loki, every version of me across space and time would go with you. Even into the abyss, if that's where you have to go. I will follow you, I know I will!" you fully sobbed out as you threw your arms around him. The thought of him leaving you was killing you.
"They'll stop you if you try to follow me, you know that" he said, speaking of your friends back at the TVA.
"Then tell them not to Loki! Please, I'm begging. My place is beside you, always and forever, no matter where that place is."
And then Loki was gone and everything turned to spaghetti.
••••••••••••••
Loki slipped effortlessly back to just the right moment in the Loom control room, having been here in this moment over and over for centuries. This time though, it was different. This time, it was the last time. Loki looked over at you and his friends with a sad and knowing smile on his face. And then with one last look, he turned and ran down the stairs towards the blast doors. He knew he could keep you from following, lock the doors behind him with impenetrable magic. But he also knew that in your heart, you would never want to be without him. You would resent him forever if he left you on Earth alone.
You, Sylvie, and Mobius ran down the stairs after him immediately, but he was already through the airlock doors. The three of you watched Loki open the blast doors with his magic and start to step outside, absent of any protective suit. As you reached out to open the airlock door and go after him, Mobius pulled you back.
"Mobius, I have to go! I have to get to him!!!" you screamed.
"You can't! The temporal radiation will kill you if you open that door and go out there, you know that!"
"But it's going to kill HIM!" you cried out as you watched Loki walk out onto the walkway.
But something amazing started to happen. As the temporal energy shredded his TVA clothes away with every passing second, something else began to take it's place. Flowing dark green linen draped his form, traditional and humble shoes appeared on his feet, and a horned crown adorned his head. He looked absolutely Godlike and regal. As Loki walked closer to the Loom - this imperfect piece of machinery that took so much from so many - he lifted his hands, called upon his magic, and destroyed it in a flash of bright green and white light.
Then, there was darkness. Loki wasn't done, though. He reached out to grab a strand of time and suddenly it glowed back to life, his beautiful green magic allowing it to thrive. He grabbed another, and another. You, Mobius, and Sylvie stood silently in the airlock, watching as Loki brought the timelines back to life, one by one, gathering them in his hands. Above him, a chasm opened in the sky, revealing the End of Time. Loki looked back one last time at the 3 of you back in the airlock. He had no idea if you would really come after him like you said - but he wanted to see your face one last time if it was truly to be the last. Your eyes locked, and you knew now that the temporal energy was gone, there was no threat if you left the airlock.
"I have to go with him." you said to Mobius and Sylvie. "His worst fear is to be alone, and he is going to condemn himself to a lifetime of loneliness to save us all!" you said as you opened the door.
"Y/n, please! Stop! You don't know what you're giving yourself to." This time, it was Sylvie who pulled you back, holding your arm so you couldn't run down the walkway.
"Yes, I do. I'm giving myself to love. I'm giving myself to free will, to choice, to hope." you said.
"Sylvie, let her go," Loki called out. "It's going to be okay." he assured.
Sylvie let go of you hesitantly, and you started your walk out to Loki. When you reached him, he could not take your hand, but you took his arm. Together, you began to ascend the invisible stairs to the End of Time as he held the reanimated timelines in his hands. As you both crossed the threshold of the chasm to the End of Time, He Who Remains' throne and the ruins of his citadel came into view. Loki walked forward to the throne, the one he never wanted but was always destined to have. The timelines took on the beautiful form of a tree - Yggdrasil, the tree of life - the tree of the multiverse that Loki would tend to for eternity.
"This is where I'll have to stay forever, darling. I can never leave, never move. Tending to the timelines is my glorious purpose, my eternal burden. Are you truly willing to stay here with me?" he inquired.
"Yes, my love", you answered without hesitation.
"For all time?" He asked.
"Always".

Loki Episode 5 Coherent Thoughts
Spoilers for Episode 5. Once again, I have not rewatched before posting.
Most of this is lokius related because I'm still a damn fool.
I want the twist at the end to be that Loki gives Mobius (and the others) back his memories to give him the choice to go back to his life, and is just really sad about it, because he expects Mobius to want to go back to his kids who don't have a mother. But he gives him his memories of his past and they're... not what he saw when he found him. Like at all. I'm not gonna speculate on specifics (*cough* Theo Bell *cough*) but he doesn't have the responsibilities of being a single parent. And Loki's like 'No, but you had two boys,' and he tells Mobius about them and they both kind of realize at the same moment that they looked like Mobius but acted like Loki. None of that was real. Mobius made all that shit up and it somehow manifested. Because he's got it B-A-D for Loki, like a middle schooler with their first crush imagining an entire life with them.
Alternatively, I saw only one other post about this but maybe it's gotten some traction by now, but maybe Mobius's wife got Blipped four years prior. So the good thing is the boys are gonna have a parent in a year even if Mobius decides to stay with Loki.
Hi hello I'm still disturbed that these very young children have been possibly left home alone for eight hours (he says his shift is 9-5), and Mobius couldn't even answer the phone when they called. We don't see a babysitter. Mobius, this is neglect. For the children's sake, I fucking hope either A. they aren't real, or B. a more responsible parent is about to come back and take care of them in 2023. (Ugh, but Love having cousins who are about her age and just as chaotic as she is would be amazing.)
I've come up with the worst Dad joke and a way for Mobius to get out of his bribery with his kid he for sure cannot deliver on. He brings OB around for dinner. OB's timeline name (if I read the subtitles correctly) is A.D. Doug. ADDOUG=A DOG. And his TVA name is Ouroboros, the SNAKE eating its own tail. (Alternatively, you now know Loki, you can borrow his sons Fenrir and Jormungandr. Blended family.)
I know it hasn't been explicitly stated, but I thought the whole thing with Alioth in season one was meant to imply that Loki now knows how to restore memories. So why the fuck doesn't he try it in this episode? Even if he's pretty sure they're all where they were prior to the formation of the TVA, it's still after for him, so why wouldn't he at least try it? When he kept moving toward Mobius in the garage scene I thought he was gonna grab his head but he doesn't. (Maybe he was interrupted by OB, but he has ample opportunity later.)
It just needs to be said because I love history. I am obsessed with Casey being Frank Morris. Both he and Loki being central to these ongoing (technically) mysteries is amazing. Like unlike Cooper it is generally accepted that Frank and his co-escapees drowned during the attempt, but no bodies identified as the men were ever found (if my shallow dive into the wiki article immediately following the episode is to be believed). OB, your boyfriend's a convict lolololol!
AD Doug is still gender-neutral though. It's 1994 but my boi can still be enby. (I'm aware enby people existed well before this but, and the wiki is not being helpful, I think the specific term was coined in the mid to late 90s or possibly later, so OB may not have been aware of it.)
I don't think Marvel is moving toward Casey/OB (at least not before the end of this season, if we get another season it MIGHT be a different story), but fuck it would be so funny if they met so much later than lokius but were able to get their shit together faster than lokius. I think it'd check out for for everyone involved. Hell, maybe they're already together and it just hasn't come up yet to the group. That'd be funnier (bonus points if B-15 already knows though).
Loki for some fucking reason: Hold on, I gotta look cool and suave for this dork of a single dad who's already informed me at least three times of his own volition that he's single.

loki x black!reader
1 9 8 1 BRANCHED TIMELINE Loki had no idea how he found himself outside of a 1980’s roller rink(well, he did, just not the exact purpose), but as O.B., or “A.D. Doug” had said, his time slipping is not random, as it had always brought him to someone important.
As soon as he had stepped into the building, he immediately felt out of place. He tried to ignore the weird stares he was being met with as he made his way to the “Rent-A-Skate” counter.
“Uh, do you perhaps know what year it is?” He asked the woman at the counter, who was staring boredly at her nails. He didn’t think anything of her until she looked up, making him realize it was in fact the love of his life staring right back at him; you.
“1981.” You bluntly answered. Loki looks around, his hopes that people stopped staring vanishing. “Would you by any chance have the time to talk?” You whispered something to the girl next to you. “I guess I do,” You said, grabbing your coat. “But not for long.”
You exited the counter, taking him by the hand to lead him outside through the back door. Once he exits the building, he realizes that this roller rink is on a cliff, the result of destruction below it.
You two sit down on a bench. “So…” You start pulling on your coat. “What were you trying to talk about?” You asked, mimicking his accent, making him smile. “Oh, right. Well, how crazy would it sound if I told you that you aren’t from here?” You raise an eyebrow. “Not from here? Well of course I’m not.”
He leans forward. “What do you mean?” He asked, a bit hopeful that you remembered everything you two went through with the TVA. You nudge his shoulder with yours, scooting closer to him. “You know what I mean. Do you really think I’m spending my life working at a skating rink? Hell no. I’ve been spending my time trying to find a way back; back to you.” You explained. “See, that’s the thing. The TVA…it’s gone.” You pull your coat tighter around you. “Gone? That can’t be true.” Loki shakes his head, a sympathetic look on his face. “I’m sorry.” You look up at the sky, then down at your shoes.
“Knowing you, I’m sure you’ll find a way to get it back, right?” You assure, mainly trying to convince yourself. The TVA was like your home; it might as well have been.
“Have you spoken to the others?” You asked, trying to steer the conversation. You scooted back to your original spot, not realizing how close you were to him. If your cheeks could get red, they would be. “Sort of. I’m just trying to figure out how to control my time slipping.” “Time slipping…” You muttered to yourself.
“Yeah, it could happen at any moment. O.B. is trying to make a tempad.” “O.B…I’m sure he should have no trouble.” You joke. “You know…” He says, looking out into the distance. “I’m not sure how long I have, so I figured that I should just say that I-” You look up from your lap. “Loki?” You call out. You stand up from your spot on the bench. “Loki?
You go back inside, distraught–and annoyed–that the one person you wanted to talk to randomly appears in your life again, then disappears just as quickly. “What were you doing out there?” One of your co-workers, Amanda, asked.
“You didn’t see who just walked up in here a while ago? She was talking to that white guy…” Your other co-worker, Tricia, said. “Guys, shut up. It’s not that serious..” You told them in a preoccupied tone as you saw him enter the building, once again.
“Time slipping.” You muttered to yourself.

Loki 2x5 Voices Analysis
Spoilers for 2x5.
I was rewatching ep 5 and got to the scene right as Loki learns to control his time-slipping, he hears all these voices and they are kind of quiet and jumbled together but I did wonder if there could be any clues in those lines that might tell us what is going to happen to our characters, or just any other parallels or interesting connections.
So I turned on the trusty subtitles and I figured, as I've got some time to kill, I'd go through each line and talk about what I think the significance of it might be, as a quick note I haven't done these in the order that they are spoken in the scene as some characters had multiple lines. Also this is all just my own interpretation and opinions.
As I said above I do think there could possibly be some hints in here as to where are characters are ultimately going to end up, but I also think it tells us a lot about what Loki wants and what he was thinking about in this moment as he was losing everything.
O.B/ A.D Doug: It was a fiction problem.
To be honest if these are supposed to be hints as to where our characters could end up at the end of the finale then I haven't really figured out what this might mean for O.B. The line is in reference to the conversation he had with Loki earlier about the difference between a science problem and a fiction problem. Like science says its impossible for Loki to time travel in the TVA a place that supposedly has no time and that it's impossible for him to go back to the moment the Loom exploded and fix it , yet fiction says that he can, fiction says the impossible can become possible.
So maybe this line was added to remind us the audience but also Loki himself that if he embraces it as a fiction problem then maybe he can do the impossible, like going back and rewriting the story.
It could also be a nod to this idea of authors and the power they hold, the power fiction holds. You've got O.B, who was the author of the TVA handbook which played a very important part in this season, Victor Timely and how O.B based his work off of him and how Victor in turn based his work of O.B's creating that Ouroboros imagery. You also have HWR who very much played the part of the playwriter, dictator everyone's lives for them. Now you've got Loki who has figured out that he can be the author now and rewrite the story.
Another nod it could be to is the season 1 finale where Miss Minutes makes Sylvie and Loki an offer on HWR's behalf, telling them he can put them on the timeline together and give them everything they've ever wanted. Sylvie's response to this is that it is fiction and Loki follows up with We write our own destinies now. You also had Sylvie say earlier in this episode 'we are all writing our own stories now, you should go write yours.' So maybe this line is just playing into this idea of rejecting the story someone else has pathed out for you and instead embracing the power of writing your own story on your own terms.
As for what it might mean for OB I'm not fully sure but I do think there is more to OB than we know as he often seems to be the odd one out. Unlike the rest of the gang he doesn't seem to have had his memory wiped when HWR invented the timekeepers and began to work more in the shadows. He's the only one who doesn't have a team to work with in his department at the TVA, whilst all the others where in timelines with 2's in them, 1962, 1982, 2012 and 2022, but O.B is the odd one out with his branch being set in 1994. There just always seems to be something slightly off about him and I do think we might get some kind of big surprise reveal about his character at some point in the finale. What that reveal could be and whether its good or bad, I have no idea. Maybe if they form a new TVA and O.B stays he'll be given the role of like story protector or Story recorder, in charge of making sure people get to write their own stories and then recording those stories, if that makes sense. But I'm just kind of throwing ideas out here I really don't have a solid idea of where they might take his character, but I'd love to hear everyone else's theories.
B-15: I looked happy.
This line by B-15 I thought was really interesting because its from season 1 but also because she doesn't actually say it to Loki, he's not even present when she does say it, she says it to Sylvie after Sylvie shows her the life she had on the timeline.
For B-15 seeing her past life was a big moment for her, it changed her entire perspective of the TVA and there work they were doing. She realised how wrong it was that the TVA had kidnapped workers from their lives on the timeline, that they had lied to them, that they pruned so many timelines and variants, people, for what was actually a lie. Immediately she decided to do something about it, to fight to protect those timelines. She is the one that convinces the Judge to change her opinion on the future of the TVA and who tried to appeal to Dox as well.
I've been of the opinion since the start of season 2 that B-15 given a choice would choose to stay at the TVA instead of going back to her life on the timeline. At first when I heard this line I thought it might have debunked that theory and maybe it was hinting that actually B-15 would return to her timeline as she was happy there and that is one possibility.
But having thought about it some more, I do think there is still an argument to be made that she would choose to stay at the TVA as it could be a case of the context of what she is saying being more important than what she is saying. As I said, I think this moment is the moment she changed her motivation and view of what the TVA really was but also what it could be. It was the moment she decided that she wasn't going to let what happened to her happen to anyone else, no one else was going to lose their happy life on her watch, type of goal. So I still think B-15 will decide that she'll make more of a difference at the TVA than going back to her life.
I said that I also thought that these lines could tell us something about what Loki was thinking and what he really wants and I actually think this line is telling us that he doesn't just want his friends to be safe, he wants them to be happy to, it could be a hint that when the time comes he'll give the option to return to their lives back to them, because as much as he wants his friends with him, he also wants them to be happy, so he makes that sacrifice of letting them go for their own happiness.
Casey: The TVA...
So the only thing Casey says is two simple words, The TVA. So I think this will mean that Casey will be one of those who chooses to stay at the TVA. I mean his life on the timeline isn't the happiness and he even asked when Loki said that they should all go back home, if they had to go back to exactly where they were, so its obvious that he doesn't particularly want to go back to his life. At the TVA Casey has friends, people who think like him like OB, and he is useful, he can help people, so I think Casey will get a promotion and will continue with his life at the TVA.
As for what this line tells us about what Loki was thinking/wanting well I think this one is an obvious one, he wants the TVA back, its the one place where he has felt like he has a purpose, where he can be good and do good, where he had friends. So it makes sense that the TVA would be in his thoughts as he sees everything slipping away from him.
The rest of lines are also very interesting as both Sylvie and Mobius/Don get more lines than the others, where they only get one, Sylvie and Mobius get three each. I think the reason for this is because they are the two most important people in his life at the moment, the ones he is closest to, its the woman he loves and his best friend. He cares and loves them both in particular and he really respects their opinions and advice. So it makes sense that its their voices that are the most predominant in this moment.
Mobius
So lets start with Mobius and what he says in this moment. The three lines are actually two quotes split into three, the first is:
'No I have to go back to see my boys.'
And the second that is split into two is a quote from season 1 from the scene when he gets pruned:
'If I could go anywhere...'
'Where ever it is I am really from.'
So this may be an unpopular opinion amongst some fans but I think these lines make it pretty clear where Mobius is going to end up come the end of the series, back with his boys on the timeline. But I don't think this necessarily has to mean the end for his character in future MCU projects. I actually had a thought about what Mobius/Don's role could be going forward in the MCU. It seems like Clint Barton's character is going to be phased out, retired. One important role Clint played in the MCU was that he was the 'ordinary' guy who was also a hero. He didn't have a special power, or a fancy high tech suit, he had his bow and his arrows, but he was also a father, he had a family. This was important for reminding the audience of how high the stakes were and what the consequences of the heroes losing were. If something happened to Clint then it would deeply effect his family and vice versa. I think Mobius could fill this role going forward, he'd be the dad, the 'ordinary' guy who still does what has to be done because he understands what the stakes are if he doesn't. So I could see him living a happy life on his timeline with his boys but where he joins the team when the need arises and helps Loki protect everyone before going back to his family again.
Going back to what this tells us about what Loki wants and thinks, I again think this shows us how much Loki cares about his friends. He's thinking about how Mobius/Don has been ripped away from his kids, from his life and I think it comes back to Loki just wanted his friends to be happy, even if that means letting them go back to their timelines. I also think Loki might be feeling a little guilty here as Sylvie had helped him see that he had pulled the gang away from their timelines more for his own selfish reasons than because he thought it was what was best for them. Don/Mobius could have been back in his timeline with his boys, instead he has this moment of fear and panic as he sees people turning to spaghetti and realises that he could be next and his boys will be left alone. So that is also playing on Loki's mind.
Sylvie
So Sylvie's lines in this moment were the most interesting to me. So here are the three lines she says:
'Everything is falling apart.'
'What's wrong with wanting something?'
'Do you think that what makes a Loki a Loki is the fact that we're destined to lose?'
When it comes to the falling apart line I think this is again telling us more about what Loki is feeling and wanting in this moment. Like Mobius/Don's line about needing to see his boys, this line reminds Loki that Sylvie's branch, the one where he was told that she was happy in and had made her a life on was now gone. Loki wanted Sylvie to be ok and yet he wasn't able to protect her timeline like he kept promising the TVA could do, so again its playing into the feeling of guilt and failure he is feeling in this moment. Its showing us how much he cares for his friends, he wants them to be happy, he wants them to be ok but right now they are all lost to him.
The line asking what's wrong with wanting something is particularly interesting to me. Sylvie says this to Loki right after he says that everything turned out the way she wanted and that she was selfish and she replied that of course she was selfish, that she wanted a life and then she asks him that question of what's wrong with wanting. I feel like all his life Loki has been told he's wrong for wanting, he was wrong for wanting to be heir over his brother, he was wrong for wanting to rule, he was wrong for wanting to have a purpose. He's never been allowed to actually get what he wants, so I think he now has come to associate wanting something as selfish and as something bad. But Sylvie is asking him to question that to ask himself if wanting something is really wrong.
I am going to come back to this subject of wanting in a moment but I want to talk about the last line that Sylvie says as I think it ties in with the line about wanting. The interesting thing about the last line, loki's being destined to lose, is that out of all the lines its the loudest and clearest. It's this line that helps Loki gain control of his time-slipping, I think that remembering that line combined with seeing Sylvie disappear in front of him, makes him think, no I'm not losing this time. I mentioned in another post that something else that is significant about this line is that it refers back to Sylki's nexus moment in 1x4. It's the moment that they feel that romantic connection to each other, that shift in their relationship into something deeper. I think its kind of beautiful that as Loki is losing everything that its that reminded of his love for Sylvie, the love that he has for all his friends that allows him to unlock that control and power over the time-slipping, allowing him to have the chance of saving all those he cares about.
I said that I thought the line about wanting something and loki's being destined to lose were connected, this is because Loki believes two things, he's not allowed to have what he wants, it would be selfish and that he is destined to lose. When it comes to the conclusion of this season in order for it to be satisfying, in my opinion, two things need to happen. Loki needs to win and he needs to get what he wants and accept that its ok to want it.
So if we look back over the last two seasons what do we know Loki wants? Loki is really bad at communicating what he wants, likely due to this shame he feels around wanting anything, I mean Sylvie really had to push to get him to admit to something as simply as wanting his friends back. But I think looking between the lines we can figure it out.
Loki wants to have a purpose. There's this running theme with the Loki's having this glorious purpose and without a purpose Loki is kind of lost.
In episode 1x5, Loki also talks about wanting to find a life with Sylvie, when they are talking about what they'll do after they've got to the end of time and defeated HWR Loki says they could figure it out together. Also when Miss Minutes offers for them to be on the timeline together, they both look hopeful for a moment, like that is something they both longed for.
We also know that he wants Sylvie to be ok. He tells her in 1x06 that he didn't want a throne, he just wanted her to be ok. When he find her on the timeline and she told him she was happy there, Loki backed off and instead focused on fixing the loom and by extension protecting the life she had created for herself.
We also know that he wants to help turn the TVA into a force of good, something that can protect as we see him trying to convince Sylvie that the TVA could be used this way.
He wants to protect his friends, he wants to have his friends with him. He tells Sylvie after the Loom explodes that he wants his friends back. But I also think he wants his friends to be happy.
He doesn't want to be alone and he wants to find where he belongs.
So for me the worst ending for Loki would be if he ends up alone, without a purpose or a home.
I did have one theory based on the clips of Loki entering the loom without a suit in the trailers and its one that I really hate and I will cry if it happens, so naturally I am going to share it with you all so you can suffer with me. But I did think that maybe Loki will sacrifice himself in order to safe his friends. However I don't think whatever he does to the loom will kill him I think it will send him and trap him at the end of time, like maybe whatever he does cuts the end of time off from the TVA and there is no way to get there, Loki can still control the timelines and guard them against any HWR variants coming through but he can't return, it could be a parallel to Thor's story in the first Thor film where he makes the choice to destroy the Bifrost and cut off his way back to Jane but saving lives in the process, and Jane then trying to find a way to reopen that connection. Maybe we'll get some hope with Sylvie and the TVA using HWR tempad to try and figure out a way of getting back to the end of time and bringing back Loki but that it will be left open ended and we don't get the answer as to whether they ever actually managed to get there.
As much as I'll admit it would be a nice parallel between Thor and Loki and it would paint Loki as the hero, I still don't want this to happen, I just feel like Loki has lost enough and deserves to win for a change. The only way I could except this happening is if Sylvie and the gang do find a way to open that connection up and maybe Sylvie chooses to join Loki at the end of time, like HWR and Ravonna had planned, that way at least neither of them are alone.
Another option is that they both end up running the TVA together. I know alot of people think Sylvie will end up settling on her timeline and that would be a suitable happy ending for her, I personally don't agree. I think the show has made it clear that whilst Sylvie claims she is happy on her branch, actually there is something missing and she is lonely, people who are happy and content don't tend to listen to songs about loneliness and not feeling satisfied with your life like Sylvie often does. Also I think if they both run the TVA together there could be a kind of ironic poetry to it. They would essentially do exactly what HWR offered them in the season 1 finale, to rule together, but they would have got there their own way. Followed their own path there. It could be a good way of bringing their story full circle.
2X6 Prediction Summary.
So here's a quick summary of how I think the finale will go for each of our characters.
Loki and Sylvie will run the TVA together, or sit at the end of time together.
Casey, B-15 and possibly O.B (still unsure on him) will choose to stay at the TVA but will be given important roles within the new organisation.
Mobius will go back to his sons and life on the timeline but will still make sure that they know he is available if they ever need his help.
Anyway I've rambled on enough now, I might do a proper prediction post of everything I think might happen in the finale before the episode but that's all my thoughts for now.

I couldn't make out OB's timeline name on the book, but people on here said it's A.D. Doug? So, Douglas Adams reference?

Hmm…in the comics, Verity Willis won’t read fiction because she can sense lies and so she can’t suspend disbelief and enjoy it. If B-15 is really Dr. Verity Willis, and she was reading OB/A.D. Doug’s novel, could that be a hint that it isn’t actually fiction?

The only Marvel/DC crossover I want now is the one in which A.D. Doug and HR Wells would get to meet and then co-write a science fiction novel together.

No, Sylvie didn’t “have a point” in that bar convo.
Ok. I’ve seen a lot of sylvie stans on Twitter (and ofc Twitter is the app of choice for sylvie stans lmao) claiming that, in the bar conversation in episode 5, Sylvie had the moral high ground. They say she Made Points and that she’s consistently been the one trying to preserve lives while Loki/Mobius/the TVA have been carelessly destroying them. Yeah. Let’s talk about that.
On Sylvie being right about Loki “kidnapping” people from their timelines…
First off, Loki admitted that he had an ulterior motive of bringing his friend group back together because he didn’t want to be alone. Cool! But he didn’t say he wanted to forcefully drag them from their happy lives and imprison them somewhere so they couldn’t leave just so he could hang out with them. He said they should be given a choice whether they wanted to join him in his ‘save the TVA’ quest or go back to their current lives. A choice. You know.. like what they didn’t have before.
And it’s kinda valid, when you think about it. Yes, they had/have lives on their original branches, but they also had/have lives at the TVA. Centuries worth of life there. They have friends there, they have jobs that they genuinely see as their own glorious purposes, and (in recent days) they have their own little world-saving team! They have a heroic mission! They have their friendship with Loki! And whether or not they should’ve been drafted to the TVA is irrelevant, because it happened. And those experiences are significant just like their experiences on the timeline. It was wrong for HWR to take away their memories and their choice to stay in their mundane lives, but it’s equally as wrong for Sylvie to not want to give them their memories of the TVA back or give them the choice to go back to that life, if they want to. And considering how A.D. Doug and Frank’s branch lives are going (read: not good), I’m fairly confident they’d choose to return if they had all their memories back.
And I mean, considering how the meeting with Sylvie went, if any of them had refused to come with Loki, he would have let them stay! It’s not like he was literally kidnapping them. He just wanted to give them a choice in hopes that they’d choose him. Just because Sylvie can’t imagine ever wanting to leave her life on the timeline to go back to the TVA doesn’t mean she can make that choice for others.
On Sylvie being right about just leaving everyone be and letting the TVA stay destroyed…
Like..??? This is so frustrating. This is probably my greatest source of annoyance with her throughout this entire season. She’s constantly argued in favour of inaction, despite the fact that she knows there is an emergency going on that requires immediate action. Moral discussions aside, just sitting at McDonalds and ignoring everything that’s going on isn’t feasible, because- as Loki has been trying to tell her for 4 episodes now- if the loom melts down, there won’t be a McDonalds anymore. There won’t be anything. The entire multiverse will be fettuccine 😭.
Like I just don’t understand her logic?? Either she doesn’t believe him (despite having evidence), or she just doesn’t care because a.) she thinks they should fix the mess she made while she just chills in the 80s OR b.) she thinks “well I’ll be fine, fuck everyone else 🤪” because she has the master tempad and thinks she can just keep outrunning the destruction like she’s been doing her whole life.
Either way, though, even if the branches weren’t being spaghettified and everything was fine.. there’s still a billion kang variants on the horizon. Like does that not trouble her at all? I’m sure her reasoning would be that she’d just kill any Kangs that show up, but it’s hilarious how she’s so confident in her ability to do that considering she did nothing impressive to kill He Who Remains. He sat in a chair and offered himself up to her. She walked up and stabbed him in the chest. Like there was no battle, that was no accomplishment. But she really thinks she did something, huh? To the point that she’s willing to risk the lives of everyone in the multiverse, gambling on her ability to single-handedly take on an entire army of all-powerful dudes actually trying to win. Nonsensical behaviour.
On Sylvie just wanting to save all the innocent people…
Building on my last point. Sylvie’s whole thing about being the one that stands up for The People and does everything in the best interest of the innocents… yeah, that’s bs lol. Sylvie, I think, has convinced herself that she’s fighting to preserve lives, but in all actuality, she’s just fighting to oppose the TVA. She’s not seeking justice (at least not primarily), she’s seeking revenge. And that’s been a problem with her since the end of season 1.
She had no problem murdering 400+ minute men in violent and torturous ways (she even enjoyed doing it, and still takes pride in it), despite the fact that she knew they were innocent people brainwashed and forced to work for the TVA. She had no problem sitting back and letting the infinite number of Kangs come, even though it was inevitable that lots of innocent people would be killed by them. As long as she didn’t have to do the work to prepare for it, she was fine with that risk. Loki tried to tell her multiple times, in multiple instances, that the TVA falling apart would cause branched timelines to be destroyed and all the people on them to die, but she ignored him and didn’t believe him and refused to do anything to help over and over and over until that very thing ended up happening. As a matter of fact, she never cared at all until it effected her timeline. Then she immediately was like “there must be something we can do!!”
Anyway….. I just think it’s annoying how some people act like she’s the pro-life (not that kind of pro-life) voice of reason in all this. She’s extremely selfish (yes, more so than Loki) and perfectly willing to let innocent people die if it means she gets to keep relaxing on her branch. Much like Brad. And you know what? That doesn’t make her a villain! There’s nothing wrong with wanting a life away from the organisation that ruined your old one. But I wish folks would stop saying she was right. Cause.. no, bestie, she was not. Lol.

Loki S02E05
Spoilers, obviously.
I don't know how much of a hot take this is, and obviously things are liable to change with the next episode, but I kinda wish Don a.k.a. Mobius M. Mobius hadn't been a jet-ski salesman in his original life. I don't know if it's meant to imply he still had some lingering memory of his old, non-TVA existence, but I think it would've worked much better if Don was just a regular salaryman working in an office who also had a dream of buying a jet-ski. It would explain why he didn't want to go back to his old life; he claims that he didn't bother to see what his old life had been, but what if he did and found that it was even more hollow and meaningless than his fake life there? At least in the TVA he was doing something productive and not working all day to make his boss rich. As it stands, in order for Mobius to stay at the TVA then he has to be leaving his family behind, and that doesn't seem right for how Don acted. Frank / Casey was an escaped convict on the run from Alcatraz and A.D. Doug / O.B (man loves being known by initials) was a failed sci-fi writer who lost his job and wife, so I get why they would want to get the hell out of reality. B-15 / Dr. Willis looked like she had a good life, but I also believe she would willingly sacrifice her happiness to protect the universe.
On the other hand, they all turned into spaghetti and then Loki rewound time to before they met, so this might never really be relevant at all.

*SPOILERS*
Oh, so Mobius is a single dad raising two sons....so did the wife got dusted too? Or they could be just separated, but since this is 2022, I can't help but think that the wife got dusted.
Then we get O.B, and oh my god, I wanna a hug! He's so precious and I hate seeing him be sad. 😢 So, his past name is A.D. Doug (I don't know if that's a reference to anything) and he's a sci-fi writer in 1994 trying to promote his books to sell but it's not working. He's also a physics teacher, but that's clearly not his passion. Man, I wanna root for him to reach his dreams, but he ended up in the TVA, which is a bummer. But, hey, at least when he was in the TVA, he got a fan for the one book he wrote there.
Also, when Loki shows up and explains to him what's happening, he totally believes him and is helping him right away. Man, I love this character.😆
