Top Six Peaks of Hyrule
We climbed the peaks of Hyrule so you don't have to! Which of these landmarks measure up? And which fall short of their promised splendour? Enjoy our rankings - number two will shock you!
6. Hebra Peak
Views of this peak from afar are impressive, particularly from a southeasterly direction where the impact from Vah Medoh's attack on Calamity Ganon is clearly visible.
But the hard hike to the summit - an ascent from Rito Village, the nearest settlement, would take an experienced, well-equipped hiker around 14 hours to complete - is not well-rewarded. The weather on the peak is usually dire. Even if the clouds break, the view is obscured by sheer distance - and the circling aerocudas overhead are somewhat distracting.
5. Mount Lanayru
A hard hike from Hateno Village, navigating over Madorna Mountain, this remote location's views suffer from the same weather conditions as Hebra Peak.
However, resilient hikers able to make the trek will be rewarded by this peak's saving grace - the Shrine of Wisdom.
Nestled among the icy spires of the otherwise unwelcoming summit, the Shrine of Wisdom is a tranquil location. Visitors may have the privilege of bathing in the icy sacred waters, or praying to the Goddess Statue, one of the largest in Hyrule. This most remote Shrine of the Goddess is well worth a visit - but make sure to pack climbing and gliding gear, and snowshoes if you have them.
4. Death Mountain
The views are as fantastic as one might expect, but the sign at the top boasting Death Mountain as the number one of 100 famous mountains of Hyrule might be overselling it. The gloom still pouring out of the crater is sure to put a dampener on any picnic, and the jagged spires around the crater's edge mean that you'll need climbing gear or a glider to truly enjoy the panoramic views of Hyrule and its sky islands.
From ice to heat! Death Mountain is certainly more accessible since the volcano stopped erupting a few years ago. Now, there are two main routes to the summit: the quick and exhilarating route up the mine cart tracks from Goron City's outskirts, or the old-school monster-infested trek through the hills from Foothill Stable. The accessibility of the mining tracks makes this peak a short and rewarding trip.
3. Dueling Peaks
Dueling Peaks is an all-round good choice for a trip into Hyrule's beautiful natural scenery. The northern peak is convenient for a hike from Kakariko Village, or climbers who're looking for a challenge can set out from Dueling Peaks Stable. The southern peak is a little trickier to reach - we'd recommend heading between the peaks from Dueling Peaks Stable and approaching from the southeast.
2. Satori Mountain
Ultimately, while Dueling Peaks is a fine destination for a day trip or a picnic, it suffers from a lack of distinctive landmarks or features to recommend it. Its shape can be seen much more dramatically from the Great Plateau, and unless you're confident with a glider or climbing gear it's difficult to visit both peaks in one trip. But the views of Hyrule Plain and the jungles of Faron are unmatched.
Famous for its ecological marvels and mystical presence, you might be surprised that Satori Mountain isn't higher up on this list! It is relatively easy to get to, being a short ride from Outskirt Stable. And it's certainly worth a trip for enthusiasts of hunting and botany.
The hike up the slopes is idyllic, through the peaceful Dalite Forest and past the enchanting Rutile Lake. The final approach heads past a beautiful cherry blossom tree beside a small pond - delightful! But the peak itself is a relative disappointment, being three bare rock spires. While they give Satori Mountain its distinctive shape from afar, this underwhelming summit marks Satori Mountain down in our estimation.
1. Shatterback Point
The area was once home to a rather fearsome Lynel, but thanks to King Sidon's efforts it is once again safe for travellers. Now, the peak stands as a testament to both Zoran history and natural beauty. Mipha Court is a tranquil spot and a well-deserved monument to Princess Mipha. And from here, the sky islands are almost close enough to touch!
The highest point on Ploymus Mountain, Shatterback Point is easily accessible from Zora's Domain and well worth a visit for its spectacular views across Zoran architecture and engineering, from the King's Palace to the East Reservoir.
All in all, we feel confident in saying this is Hyrule's best peak.
Do you agree? Is there somewhere you think we've overlooked? Let us know! Maybe we'll be able to feature them in a future instalment!

Carina drags Reader to go hiking on a free day and Reader is excited to be in the nature with her girlfriend but then up in the hills, there is a big bridge that crosses the way where there is nothing under the bdige and if you fall, youre free falling. Reader is scared of heights. Fluffy and cute Carina pls
Summary: Maybe, you were afraid of heights and none of your friends knew. Especially not your girlfriend. And maybe, this turns out to be a problem when she wants to go hiking with you and you have to cross a bridge, 150 meters above the abyss, to get further on your adventure.
ᕚ---ᕘ
-Breathe- you adonished yourself as you gazed at the great wooden, rickety bridge that connected two mountains and tried to fight down the panic rising in you.
From the bridge, you had a fantastic but also scary and frightening view. Hidden in the forest, not far away was a small vantage point from which you had a wonderful view- the contrast between the green valleys and gray peaks of the surrounding mountains. The grass seemed glaring and was moving further away from you with every step you took, the sky more than usual to see.
Your gaze drifted into the far distance, the forest blurring before your eyes. You felt the sun shining on your face and tickling your nose while you enjoyed the warmth and the blissful peace of your otherwise hectic life on this beautiful summer day.
You tried to calm your racing heart down and to realize, that with your girlfriend by your side, nothing would happen to you. You just had to keep breathing very calmly. You tore your eyes away from the rapidly receding ground and looked at the people moving comfortably and carefree onto the bridge with a smile and happy.
How could people stay calm, did not they realized that this bridge was so unstable that it could tear at any second?
"Are you okay, bambina?" Carina´s velvety soft voice tore you out of your thoughts when she realized that you had become suspiciously quiet and that there as not much left of your talkative mood during the trip.
You just nodded and tried to smile genuinely, even tho your jaw was enormously tense. You feared not getting a single clear word out if you tried to speak but you tried, only getting out your girlfriends name. "Carina," your voice was low and shaky so that only she, standing a few feet away, could hear you. The addressed turned her head slightly from the abyss to you and looked deep into your eyes. "I am scared of heights"
"Why did you not tell me that?" she whispered, her voice was calm as she turned completely to you. She ran her fingers through her soft curls and a small sad smile crossed her lips. "Do you want to go back? We do not have to go further"
"No, I want to try" yet you did not feel comfortable in your own skin. Your legs carried you step by step, up the rise of the bridge. Uneasiness overcame you instantly and you took another deep breath and straightened your shoulders.
"Bella.." she lumbered to you and immediately pulled you into a side hug. As always, your heart began to race when she touched you. You broke away from your girlfriend and looked embarrassed on the ground.
You heard Carina grin softly, which is the situation for you made it even more uncomfortable. The footsteps you had taken previously had disappeared and you looked into the distance again, at the facade of the stony wall.
After a moment of silence, you heard a nervous inhalation and exhalation. "I know you hate giving up control of yourself. But sometimes it is nice to give control to someone else." She tilted her head slightly towards you and smiled a little. Her gaze met yours and you were immediately captivated by her bright eyes, her smile and the sun that accentuated her cheeks so timidly. "Do you trust me?"
Her honesty and warmth impressed you from the first meeting. Goosebumps covered your entire body and your suspicions about the situations were gone. Her soft hand entwined with yours and with a satisfied smile on her lips, she slowly started walking with you.
You frowned when your foot touched the first wobbly wooden floorboard and you disappeared into another world. Carina noticed this and stopped at the bridge sections when she noticed that your breathing was getting faster and held you back by your arm.
You flinched slightly and she pulled her hand from yours to let you decide to walk further or to stand still.
"I am fine, don´t worry," with that, you turned to walk further, clutching the railing with both hands as you took another step. This path was obviously more difficult for you, but you kept fighting your way. "I can do this. But I need your help"
The brunette answered frantically and asked suspiciously. "What should I do?"
Your fearful gaze pierced her eyes. "Hold me," you said simply, and a chill ran down your spine. As if in trance, she nodded and you felt her strong arms wrap around your upper body. You closed your eyes briefly and leaned against your girlfriend with all your weight.
Stumbling, you walked inch by inch and you clenched your eyes even more while your sweaty hands pressed back to the terrain. "Bella, we should go back. You are getting paler with every step"
"I am alright, ´ina." you said softly, trying to push her a little in front of you. You could feel the pressure on your body easing a little and you cautiously took half a step forwards. "Fuck, that is high. That is high. That is high" you gasped as you opened your eyes and she complied with your silent request to pull you away from the bridge and keep you on solid ground.
"We are not gonna do that.." she began to whisper cautiously and did not take her eyes off of you for a second. Carina raised her eyebrows sharply and studied every feature of your face. The brunette pushed an unruly strand of hair behind your ear with a quick movement and her compulsive smile let your embarrassment dodge at once. "We should take it slow and small and not start with something big like that"
With a sad and pouting smile, you looked into her brown eyes, which fixed yours relentlessly. With a nod and an incredibly loud breath that was the first of it´s kind in a long time, you rested your head on her chest and let her pull you into a deep hug. "Let´s make that our new goal. We will make it across this bridge together. One day"

His hands feel cold as he rubs his face, fingers creeping up to run through his dark locks. In the process, he licks his chapped lips. The winters are already dry enough; really, he should stop before they crack.
But he just can’t help himself. Minho thinks all broken things are beautiful.
With a sigh, he drops his hands. His elbow dings the small ink pot in the process, spilling the black liquid off his writing table. It swirls under the candlelight, landing in heavy puddles on discarded parchment. Typically, the author would hurry to pick up the pot. His money was limited and his practice was expensive; wasting even a little was fatal.
Tonight he sits. Counting the drops as the plop, plop, plop, ruining all of his terrible work. No one will ever know the worlds he’s created and destroyed, the ink making sure to remove them from existence.
Minho is almost jealous of the parchment. What he wouldn’t give to be washed away and made anew, for the burden that being an artist in this life has brought to be returned to the higher powers.
Before he thought it was a blessing. Weaving words to create fantastical lands, to write of unfathomable love. Now, as the candle wax is hitting his wooden table and the ink is running dry, he knows this is a curse.
A walk. A walk might do him well. It could help Minho move the boulder that’s blocking his mind, tapping him dry. Though the hour is well past midnight, it couldn’t hurt to try.
The ankle length coat is heavy on his shoulders, yet he’s grateful. The wind is nippy and is doing nothing to help the dryness of his lips. His tongue rolls over it once again, thankful for the protection it provides. Even if it’s fleeting.
Why can he not get this right? No matter what he scribbles, nothing is making sense. The story he’s made is falling flat, losing its traction as it continues on. It’s a brilliant idea, one that his editor even called a masterpiece. But that’s all it is — an idea. No matter how many times he’s tried to bring it to life, it’s damn near impossible.
What could have happened to it?
Minho walks without really paying attention. He knows the way by now; a left here, down the curved road before you take a right, past the bakery. Every time the golden window comes into view, he stops. Time stops as he looks into the dark store, blinking slowly as snow flutters down and clings to his lashes.
He blinks—
“Minho!” You cry excitedly, your giggle immediately warming his body.
When his eyes open again, the first thing he sees is your bright smile. Smirking, he takes the loaf out of your hand, tearing a bite off the end.
“I’m just saying.” He talks as he chews, turning on his heels in the direction of your shared home. “It would be silly of you to do that.”
“What?” You hike up your lilac colored dress, jogging to catch up to him. He rolls his eyes as you jump in front of him, walking backwards. Many strangers pass, eyes wide and looking at you in disgust, wondering what fool would do this on a busy sidewalk. But the smile on your face doesn’t waver, unaffected by the hurtful whispers of insignificant people. “You don’t think I could bake my own bread?”
“Darling, you can hardly cut an apple.”
“Bread and apples are not the same.” You exclaim, throwing your head back to sigh dramatically. “When you married me, you vowed to always be supportive of me—“
“And I always have been.”
“So, encourage me!” You suddenly stop, putting your hands out to catch Minho before he runs into you. Hands on his jacket, you bunch it up. Pull him close. “Oh, my darling, if that’s what you wish to do. You’ll be wonderful at it!”
Your fingers are so close to his heart, he wouldn’t be surprised if you could feel how quickly it was pounding. There’s something about the way your eyes sparkle when you look at him; wide, full of a life he’s always been envious of. Minho finds it impossible to remember a time before this look of yours.
It started when you were five. Caught up in a tree, crying because you had climbed too high and were too frightened to jump. He remembers the braids you wore, how your hair was falling from them. The tears on your little brown dress from where the branches grabbed the fabric.
Even at a young age, he knew he needed to help. His mother always taught him to help someone in danger. In retrospect, the tree wasn’t that tall. If you fell, the possibility of breaking a bone wouldn’t have been high. Yet it seemed scary, even to the young boy, following your path up it.
“Don’t be scared.” He said to you, reaching his hand out. Shakily, you grab onto it. You squeezed him so tight, his hand began to throb.
Minho knows what it’s like to be scared, and he never would want to leave you alone.
As he returns you to land, you turn to the boy you recognize as your neighbor. Arms flying around his shoulders, tugging him into the tightest hug your little body can give.
And then you pull back, and look at him. The sparkle of life in the depths of your eyes.
He swore you would never be scared and alone again.
It’s hard not to smile, lips pressed together and curling up as he cups your face. “I also vowed to never lie to you.”
With a huff, you pull away from the hug, turning in the appropriate direction this time. “You are the bane of my existence, Lee Minho.”
Now it’s his turn to jog. Catching up to you and gripping your hand to pull you into his side. Despite your wiggles, your faux pout and empty complaints of being exhausted by him, you make no effort to really move. Tucked into his side is the best place, both in reality and fiction, you once told him. The scent of his cologne, the smell of fresh bread and the mint tea he drank earlier. A comfort you always will seek, and one he’s more than joyful to give.
It’s a short walk home; a left and then you’re up the curvy path, walking until you take a right at the bookshop near your home. It’s a quaint little shop, but cozy nonetheless. The door was propped open, smells of cinnamon and leather spilled onto the cobbled road in front of it. Come in, take a seat. Enjoy the writings of authors old and new.
Right in the middle, on a golden stand, sits Minho’s recent work. The yellow cover was your idea — “It piques interest! Come on, do you really want it to be red or blue like all the rest?” The book didn’t need to be published for him to know you were right, but it’s satisfying to see the stacks behind it dwindling. The community enjoying another one of his gorgeous worlds.
“It’s running low.” You hum. “It might be time to mail production, get more copies out.”
“Hm, with what funds? If I recall, you spent it all on poppy muffins not even an hour ago.”
Rightfully, a fist gently collides with his abs. Minho laughs from the impact, leaning down to kiss the top of your head. “I’m so proud of you, Min.” You don’t take your eyes off the book. Instead of your trademark beaming smile, you look almost stunned. In total awe. “It’s what you’ve always dreamed of.”
He loops his arm around yours, tugging you away from the window. “It’s not but a hobby. I have greater dreams than that.”
The familiar brick comes into view. A flowerbed in front is home to the brightest plants on the block; daisies, pink flowers that Minho can’t remember the name of, daffodils. There’s even mint for tea, freshly plucked by you (if you can remember). It’s a comfort, a reminder of your love. Of the home you’ve built together.
“Like what?” You fall back in step, letting your husband take the lead so he can get to the door before you. The door swings open, Minho bowing dramatically and you following suit as you pass.
Once the door shut, he began on the buttons of his coat. “Where’s the fun if I tell you?” He teases. When he looks up to see your exasperated expression, it’s only held for a beat before you start to laugh. “I dream of more of this life. Of easy morning walks—“
His eyes open, the cold winter air making his fingers start to numb. It’s time to move again. To continue down this path. This time, he’ll walk straight. Listen for the meows of street cats that always greet him at the block.
Rummaging his deep pocket, Minho finds the little treats he pocketed on his way out. Crouching down, he lets the cats eat from his hand.
“Careful.” He whispers to the biggest one. “Let your friends eat.”
Once he’s sure that they return to the warmth of the home he built for them, Minho starts again. Licks his lips. Takes a right.
And crashes into you, grabbing your hips to help ground himself.
“My love.” You gasp, a hand flying to your chest. Your fingers toy at your necklace, the collision spooking you more than you care to admit. “I didn’t even hear you coming.”
His chest hurts from where your head hit him, flinching slightly as he heartbeat starts to pick up. It’s the first time he’s seen you all day, nose too fair in his journals to pay attention to the outside world.
And wow, is he kicking himself for waiting so long. The yellow dress you’re wearing is perfect for the weather, clutching the roses you picked from the garden to your chest. Seems you kept yourself busy while he worked.
“I’m sorry, darling.” He draws, bending down to catch your lips with his own. “This hallway is just too small for us, isn’t it?”
You smile against him, standing on your toes to steal another kiss. “Maybe, but I’ll never complain about running into you.”
“It’s because you’re not the one with a sore chest.” Finally, he pulls back. “What have you done today?”
“I was busy in the garden.” You adjust the bouquet in your arms, making sure none of the flowers lost their petals. “I wanted to cut the roses before autumn comes.”
Like Minho loses himself in words, you lose yourself in the garden. It’s like you don’t even notice the sun setting some days; fingers too deep in the soil to care about anything surrounding you. The two of you take turns pulling each other out of your little worlds, bringing one another back into existence together.
This crash was a good grounding moment. You both were too far gone.
“They’re lovely.” He says with a smile, delicately stroking the bud of one.
“They were, until you so rudely ran into me and fussed with my bouquet.” You can’t even say it without a bright smile, always delighted to tease your husband. “Watch where you’re walking, Min!”
His eyes roll so far back, he thinks they’ll get lost in his mind. Hands move from your hips to tangle in your hair, pulling you in for a deep kiss. The flowers fall to the floor, and this time the petals come falling off. Scattering the hallway carpet you stand upon.
It’s been too long. Too long since your lips met his, since your body was merged with his own. And it’s only been since this morning.
Maybe too long is an exaggeration, but Minho’s always had a flair for the dramatic.
“Are you planning to go back out?” He mumbles, tongue sweeping against your lips until they part, letting him in.
You whimper as you shake your head, hands on his biceps as you cling for dear life. “Not anymore.”
Oh, how it overjoys the author to hear. Minho walks with you, guiding your bodies to the nearest door before he kicks it open. Though the hallway has seen, and heard, so many parts of you, you deserve more than a stuffy hallway quickie.
It’s a stumble into his office that doesn’t stop until your hips hit his work table. He lets go of you just briefly, sliding the papers, notebooks, quills — all clatter to the ground. The desk sits in front of a window, cracked open just enough to let the summer breeze dance in. It lands on your shoulders, on his face. Ruffles your hair and warms his skin. The fireflies have just started to come out, a few twinkling near the stained glass and lighting it up in beautiful pieces.
Minho cups the back of your head, lowering your body slowly onto the wooden surface. It feels like a dreamlike state as he breaks the kiss, moving himself away from your lips slowly. Your head lays at the edge of the desk, crossing over just a bit onto the windowsill. The breeze makes your hair flutter in strands, the pale light of the fireflies painting your face.
Blue and red. Yellow and green. Pink and orange. Stained glass eyes, bright and full of life, blink up at him. Always happy to see him.
“My darling.” Goosebumps decorate your skin, rising up your neck at the sound of his low tones. His fingers are delicate as he strokes your cheek. “Your beauty always leaves me in such awe.”
Rolling your head, your lips brush against the tips of his fingers, overflowing with gratitude. “You are too kind to me, my love.”
The corners of his lips twitch into a soft smile. “No. No, I believe I am not kind enough.” His other arm hooks around your right thigh, heaving it up in his arms. The dress slides down your body in rippling waves, pooling like golden ink at your hips. “But I will never stop trying to make it up to you.”
Before you can reply, the hand on your cheek slips the nape of your neck. He pulls you up as he comes down, making your body arch into his touch when his lips collide. This kiss is more than the one that let you here — be it the weather or the feral instincts clawing at his throat, Minho’s body is like the brightest flame. Hot enough to bring the entire planet to the brink of extinction.
And it’s all because of you. The smell of roses, the taste of strawberries you had for lunch. His life force, his drive. His muse, who is tugging on his worn out dress shirt and pulling until the buttons pop. Across the room they scatter, lost and never to be found again.
Your hands run across the smooth skin of his chest, carefully feeling every ridge of him. Sweet moans fill his mouth as you enjoy the touch, covering the same spots over and over as if you can’t get enough. It’s easy to get lost in the touch of a lover, feeling their bodies in ways that only you can enjoy. Maybe that’s why you don’t notice his hand moving up your thigh, stopping right at the lower hem of your panties.
But you do notice when two fingers slip inside and quickly brush against your folds, making your body jolt in shock and delight.
“Shh, shh, shh.” Minho says as he pulls back, smiling at the cute expression on your face. “Just relax, darling. Let me care for you.”
“You did.” Your words are breathy, teetering on broken moans. “All morning.”
The chuckle he gives makes you flutter around nothing, new slick starting to coat his digits. “Well, let me do it again. Didn’t I vow to always?”
In the space between his rapid heartbeats, his fingers find your entrance and push inside. With vigor, Minho starts to pump them in and out. The palm of his hand hits your cunt, heel pressing into your clit with each thrust.
It’s an intense feeling, especially with how much torture your husband put you through this morning. You’re more sensitive than usual, hips buck and legs kicking out at the intensity. Only a few thrusts and you’re near screaming, the ache overpowering.
He vowed to always help you, even when you aren’t aware that you need it. Free hand flying to your hip, he pins you down by your hip with enough strength to bruise you.
“Still.” His voice is dark and low, the warning tone causing your bright eyes to widen. Nothing more needs to be said, fear like cold rain washing over you. Following his commands without a fight.
“That’s my good girl.”
Minho has always been good at keeping control. It’s easy for him to calm his mind enough to make sure he doesn’t break. Yet it’s always impossible when he watches your eyes flutter shut, body like the perfect toy in the palm of his hand. His cock aches and twitches in his trousers, demanding for some sort of release.
Even when it seems unlikely, he contains it. Not letting himself get too caught up in the moment, focus narrowed on bringing you the most pleasure he can—
Your left hand cups your breast over the dress. In the light of the fireflies, the simple band of diamonds shine.
When he bought you that ring, his pockets were empty. It was the best that he could find with the little money he had, and even then he had to barter for it. He swore to himself that one day, when he didn’t have to struggle anymore, he would get you the wedding ring that you deserve.
That day came after he published his first book. When the first check came in the mail, he ran to the kitchen, dropping to his knees and proposing. Again.
“Get up, this floor hasn’t been swept yet—“
“Marry me, my darling.” Both of his hands cup yours, the check wrinkling in his fist. “Let me give you all you deserve, starting with this ring.”
His thumb rubs over the jewelry to emphasize his point. He was going to make it better, to make you happier.
“No.” You say simply. “You’re not taking my ring from me.”
“But, darling—“
“I don’t want just any ring, I want the first one you ever picked for me. This one. Now, please, love, get up before I use the broom to sweep you away too.”
It shines as brightly as your eyes under the fireflies. Maybe that’s why Minho can’t think straight. The love coursing through his body bringing him to the edge.
With a loud groan, he stops his movements. Fingers buried knuckles deep inside of you, your husband hangs his head. Your eyes shoot open, concern heavy in them. “Min, are you-“
You fall silent as you notice. The wet spot on his bottoms, growing in size right where the tip of his cock is. Neither of you move, neither of you speak. Watching as cums his pants.
Slowly, he looks up at you. Your hand hasn’t moved from your breast, lips parted in shock — or is that terror? After all, his eyes have never been so dark before.
“See what you do to me?” His voice is more of a growl, pulling his fingers from your cunt aggressively. “See how you make me feel?”
There isn’t time to think. To speak. He doesn’t even take the time to undress you properly; trousers fall to his mid thighs to let his still hard cock spring out. Your head hits the stained glass as he inserts himself into you. Slow, yet rough. Savoring the soft feeling of your walls.
Minho steadies himself by gripping onto your other hip, loudly groaning your name over, and over, and over like a prayer until he’s deep inside you. If you thought his fingers were intense, you’ve shattered from this stretch, clawing at your exposed skin in ecstasy.
All is right when your bodies create one. Limbs tangled, lips swollen. He leans down as he starts to thrust into you, not pulling out more than half an inch. Each one is deep, hitting places neither of you knew existed until this moment.
Nothing else exists. In this moment, you are both all that was. All that is. All that is to come. The universe pauses for you, time stopping as you love each other to an extent that no one thinks is possible. The earth cracks under you, breaking from the strength of this connection.
Better than any story written across time.
His head lays on your chest, the position thoroughly uncomfortable though Minho is convinced it’s perfect. He listens to the beating of your heart, kisses your warm skin, fucks you in unimaginable ways.
“I love you.” He mumbles against the swells of your breasts, nuzzling deeper into them. Craving a life only you can bring. “I love you so much, my darling. I-I don’t even know how to say it.”
This time, you shush him. Threading your fingers through his dark hair, you turn his head so he can look at you. Meeting your bright eyes, full of life.
The metal is cold against his palm. Hard to move regardless of how hard he pushes.
“I love you.” You smile at him. “In ways I’ll never be able to tell you.”
The snow and gravel crunch under his boot. Only a few more steps.
“You’re my everything, Lee Minho.”
Though he’s sniffling, he still smiles up at you. Fully consumed by your presence, wishing to freeze this moment so it never ends. “I thought I was the bane of your existence.”
The laugh you give is full. “Why can’t you be both?”
Though his pants are thick, the cold still seeps through. He sits with his legs crossed, letting the snow melt under him and numb his thighs. It’s a nice distraction — one he really, really needed.
“I don’t know what to write.” He says out in the dark of night, staring at the jewelry in his hands. A small, golden heart pendant and the simple ring cling to the chain, warm from his body heat. They were tucked away the entire walk, pressed close to his slow beating heart. “I’ve gone through sheets of parchment and at least five journals and…nothing.”
With a sigh, he starts to spin the ring. It’s too small for his fingers, though he had tried. Once it got stuck on his pinky. Minho left it there for days, not doing anything until his finger started to turn purple. It hurt too much to take it off.
“You would be appalled by the state of my office.” The laugh he gives is dry and shaky. “I let a pot of ink spill today, and I don’t know when I’ll clean it up. It was almost refreshing to watch it wash away my work.”
The tears have started. He’s not ready. Not now, he just got here—
“I don’t know why this is so hard for me. He licks his lips, over and over and over until they finally crack. “You’re all I could ever think about, all I could ever talk about. So writing about you should be the easiest thing I’ve ever done. But I try, and I try, and I lose sleep wracking my brain to try and encapsulate what you were. How you held existence in your eyes and loved with such a fierce heart that it could have been the comet that killed the dinosaurs. How can I love you so fucking much, and not know how to talk about you?”
Minho was determined not to look up. If he doesn’t look, he won’t get hurt. Reality can be nothing but a hoax as he talks to you, lost in a world the two of you created.
The dream he wants to never escape from.
But there’s only so much he can take. Finally, his head lifts and fuck how he desperately hopes to see your bright eyes. Instead, the stone sparkles. Your name engraved above the dates, a small reminder that you were real.
Slowly, the author sits up on his knees and begins to crawl. At the headstone he stops, slowly lowering himself to the ground. Letting his body sink into the snow as he lays with you and clutches your jewelry to his shattered heart.
It isn’t long until his eyes start to shut despite his efforts to stay away. One blink, then a slower one, and another until there’s no more. On the last one, right as sleep pulls him in, he swears he hears your laugh.

HIKING | 700w | Mature | nwa | established sambucky; kissing and other stuff; 1 million nicknames.
AN: this will be a little interconnected Tumblr drabble series, but each drabble should read perfectly on its own too. thanks to @sambuckylibrary for organizing this bingo!
God knows Bucky loves him, but sometimes Sam’s got some terrible ideas.
Hiking? Great! Camping? Yeah, fantastic. Sam in a t-shirt two sizes too small, sweating through it? Couldn’t imagine a better view. Bucky couldn’t be more excited about spending some time in the wild outdoors with his best guy this summer, just the two of them in the sunshine, soaking up some vitamin D. That’s the truth, it is.
And look, Captain America’s really fucking great at basically anything. This guy’s got balls the size of Jupiter on him, takes on just about anything with those wings and that shield. But walking ten miles uphill in peak midday heat, Bucky learns, is Cap’s kryptonite.
“Jesus. How much longer?” Sam heaves for the seventh time, uses his shirt to wipe sweat off his brow which is not the type of distraction Bucky needs right now—that soft sliver of skin peeking out of his waistband, that teasing patch of hair leading to his belly button. Bucky could just lay him down and bury his nose in it right now, but no sir. No way. There are thorns and god-knows-what all over this forest floor and the last thing they need is a ‘Cap and Bucky in hospital due to suspicious penis poisoning’ headline.
Instead, he flicks their map open and checks. “Few more miles, sweetheart. You wanna rest?” Bucky takes a few swigs from the canteen and hands it over. The exertion isn’t affecting Bucky as much on account of the serum, so he’s strolling along happily. Sam, despite this being entirely his idea, has been all complaints since sunrise.
After a sip, Sam shakes his head. “Nah. It’s getting late. Wanna set up before dark. Just feels like it’s getting steeper, you know.” He squints up the mountain and shakes his head. He slaps Bucky’s shoulder. “But let’s keep going, Buck.”
“You got it, Cap,” Bucky says and salutes Sam, laughs when Sam rolls his eyes and stomps off ahead. Not that Bucky’s complaining whatsoever. The view’s pretty great from back here.
And alright maybe nature’s getting the best of him out here. Maybe it’s because he knows there ain’t much stopping them from getting down and dirty if they wanted to. And now, watching Sam climbing, he kind of wants to.
“Hey, sweetheart,” he says, jogging a little to keep up. “Wanna hop on?”
Sam glances over his shoulder, shoots one of those slanted, lopsided grins at Bucky. “Hop on what, though?”
Bucky snorts. “Honey, if we were anywhere else right now, the answer would be very different. But, uh, hop on my back the rest of the way.”
Sam considers that for a second. Checks out the backpack Bucky has on his shoulders. “Hell, if you’re offering, baby. These thighs are rock solid, but they ain’t made for this.”
“Yeah, I know, come on.” Bucky swings the backpack off, carries it in his hand instead and bends just a little to let Sam on.
Sam places a quick kiss against Bucky’s ear, loops his arm around Bucky’s shoulders and holds on tight. In turn, Bucky’s got his free hand firmly splayed on the underside of Sam’s thigh.
He’s not even ten steps into the ascent when he realizes Sam’s not the only one with shitty ideas every now and again.
This is worse on all accounts. Having Sam’s body plastered against him, legs spread against his back, hand gripping Bucky’s chest for purchase. Yeah, no, this is worse.
Sam squeezes a little around Bucky’s pectoral, rubs him through his shirt, and ends it all when he places his soft, warm lips right in Bucky’s neck and opens them.
Bucky stops just then, drops the backpack, and reaches around to swing Sam off too. Pushes him up against a tree the moment his feet hit the ground and kisses him. His hands fly up under Sam’s t-shirt, up against his smooth, warm skin.
Sam lets out a breathy laugh but tugs Bucky closer by his belt, grinds forward, tips his head back to let Bucky get at his neck instead.
“Jesus. Told you hiking was a good idea,” Sam says, fingers digging into Bucky’s shoulders.
Bucky ducks back up to look at Sam, watches Sam’s gaze drop to his lips, licking his own, his eyes wild and glinting with excitement. “Yeah, a real good goddamn idea, babydoll. Let’s keep hiking, huh?”
Sam nods breathlessly, hooks his leg over Bucky’s hip, and Bucky scoops him up. He lays Sam down on the soft, mossy grass at the foot of the tree and kisses him again.
Maybe Bucky’s about to risk that headline. They’ve survived worse.
To be continued in ‘Avian Telepathy’...

I would love to know about Mallorca AU
I'm so glad you asked anon! This is lowkey one of my fav WIPs that I absolutely plan to finish in time for f1's summer break this year. It's essentually an AU where Charles is still a race driver but Carlos isn't, and they meet when Charles and his family is on vacation in Mallorca for the summer break...
Because I'm feeling ridiculous and indulgent today, here's another 2k-word snippet.
The next day, they head to a secluded beach that promises amazing waves, as well as lots of rock climbing and hiking. Charles expects to see some surfers, but it’s also quite windy so he’s not sure how safe it is. He’s gone surfing a couple times, but he’s not very good yet. And since he doesn’t like when he’s not good at things (who does?), he hasn’t tried again recently.
When they arrive, there’s still a fair number of people there as it is a weekend, but nowhere near the crowds on the more popular beaches. They find their own spot and set up camp, although he and his brothers immediately get to work hiking up one of the cliff faces to get a good view from the top.
The view is worth it, but they’re hot enough by the time they get back down to run straight into the water. He’s right about the wind, which means the waves are definitely gnarly. But they have a good laugh attempting not to drown.
They even find a small rock outcropping not too far from shore that they can climb and jump off of. Lorenzo protests at first, claiming it’s not safe. But when Arthur ignores him and does it anyway, he sees that it’s not too bad and joins in.
They rest on the rocks for a bit, tired from the climbing and swimming, but when Lorenzo mentions their mum might be getting worried, they decide to head back. Lorenzo jumps down and Arthur follows him, starting the swim back. Charles (stupidly) decides he’ll dive off, and wouldn’t you know it, as soon as he hits the water, his swim trunks are pulled clean off.
He surfaces with a laugh, dragging hair off of his face and wiping water from his eyes. But when he glances around, he can’t see the trunks anywhere. He spins a full three-sixty degrees at least four times before he wonders if he’s going crazy. A wave might’ve pushed them into some rocks, but he swims around the rock outcropping and doesn’t find them.
So a wave pulled them under, then. Fantastic. He really liked those trunks, too.
He starts the swim toward shore, his brothers having gotten a head start, but still within sight.
“Arthur!” he calls, as he’s closer than Lorenzo.
His brother either doesn’t hear him, or ignores him. He hopes it’s the former because the latter doesn’t bode well for if he were in any actual danger. He tries to catch up, but by the time he’s reached about the maximum depth he’s comfortable with before he’s flashing the whole beach, Lorenzo is already back at their chairs and Arthur is out of the water.
“Arthur!” he tries again.
This time, Arthur does hear him and turns around. Charles sighs in relief and beckons him over with his hand, but all Arthur does is wave and cock his head to the side, beckoning Charles over with a matching gesture. Charles sighs in frustration, repeating the gesture with more intensity.
“Come back!” Arthur just continues to look at him like he’s crazy, before waving at Charles and heading to their chairs. “Idiot,” he mutters.
Most of the time, he says that with affection. But he’s thinking rather ill thoughts at the moment, as he watches his brothers greet their mum and take sips of water.
Lorenzo must ask Arthur where Charles is because he sees Arthur point over his shoulder, Lorenzo following with his gaze until his eyes land on Charles. He stands up straighter, making a clear gesture for Lorenzo to come back. His older brother just continues to look confused, until he himself repeats the arm motion, beckoning Charles to come back.
“My God, they’re both idiots.”
Well, eventually they have to wonder why Charles won’t leave the water, right? That, or he has to wait for someone else to come along. Or he exposes himself to the whole beach.
Yeah, no. He’ll wait.
There are other people in the water, but most of them are women and kids. He doesn’t really fancy swimming up to a kid and their mother and asking for a spare pair of swim trunks. Somehow, he thinks a strange man implying he’s naked would at the very least make someone extremely uncomfortable and at the worst, get him kicked off the beach.
He’s actually starting to get cold despite the hot summer sun, when someone paddles by on their surfboard.
“Hi, excuse me! Um, sorry - perdóneme,” he says to the guy.
He looks to be about Charles’ age, maybe a little older - dark hair that’s long enough to tuck behind his ears, slicked back from the water. He looks significantly less likely to be creeped out by Charles. Not a hundred percent, but...less likely, for sure.
“Inglés? Please...” He mutters the last part to himself. He knows a few Spanish words and phrases, but he’d probably have better luck speaking Italian and hoping the guy understood.
“Yeah?” the guy thankfully replies, his brows furrowing at Charles. He stops paddling and sits up on his board. “Alright?” He has a Spanish accent, so Charles assumes he’s either a local or from Spain on holiday.
“Do you have swim trunks - uh, another pair?” Charles asks, laughing awkwardly. “I’ve lost mine.”
Then, after a brief pause. “Lost them?” The guy is attempting not to laugh for Charles’ benefit, presumably.
“They were...taken by a wave.”
“Ah, this clears things up.” Charles thinks he’s being made fun of, but the man looks like he’s enjoying this rather than bothered. “What should I do? Give you mine?”
“No!” Charles says, flushing for some reason. “I don’t know. Could you bring me a towel or something? My family is just there, but they are being idiots.”
The man is faintly smiling as Charles speaks, but doesn’t look in any rush to help. Charles is about to resign himself to wait for someone else or just ask the guy to get one of his brothers, when he suddenly nods, laying back down on his board.
“I will be right back, francés,” he says, starting to paddle toward shore. “Rápidamente!”
Charles realizes, after he’s been watching the man paddle for several seconds, that he has a weird smile on his face. He purses his lips and rubs his arms when he shivers a bit from the cool water.
The man reaches shore, and Charles watches with more than a little incredulity as he saunters with his surfboard under one arm all the way off the beach and disappears into the parking area. Charles sighs, fearing he’s just struck out again in obtaining help. The guy could be just going to his car to grab extra swim trunks, but Charles isn’t holding his breath.
He’s not only tried to get the attention of his brothers again, but also started wondering if he should look around for another potential savior, when he sees the man emerge back onto the beach, sans surfboard. Charles nearly scoffs when he seemingly stops to chat with a couple of girls, but he can faintly see something like trunks clutched in the guy’s hand, so he won’t curse him out just yet.
And soon enough, he departs from the girls and makes eye contact with Charles, waving the trunks in the air like a chequered flag at the end of a race. Charles sighs. Day one of vacation and this is what it’s come to.
He smiles weakly and gives a thumbs up, hoping that’s enough to get the guy to fucking bring him the trunks. The man gestures for Charles to come to him, and Charles is a second away from losing it, when the guy laughs and wades into the water. Charles lets out a deep breath, relieved.
“Sorry, I couldn’t help myself,” the guy jokes when he gets close enough.
“Very funny,” Charles says, catching the trunks when they’re thrown his way. They’re a pretty standard aqua, but there’s the silhouette of a shark on the backside in a darker blue. Charles notices a tag hanging off the waistband. “Have you bought this just now?”
“There’s a shop down the road, very close,” the man says. And he looks so much like he doesn’t mind, sinking low in the water with his chin resting on the surface and hardly paying attention to Charles, that Charles doesn’t protest the kindness. And anyway, it’s done now.
“That’s nice of you,” he does say, smiling. “Thanks, mate. How much was it?”
“Bah, I don’t remember,” the man says, shaking his head. “Don’t worry about it.”
Charles takes a peek at the price tag anyway, before pulling them on underneath the water. He’ll try to offer him some euros once he’s back with his stuff, but he also knows from experience that it can sometimes be more polite to just accept a gift when it’s given.
“Thank you, again.” The man just nods and straightens up to walk alongside Charles as he heads back to shore.
“I’m Carlos,” he says, holding out a hand for Charles to shake. He takes it with a slow, dawning smile. “¿Qué?”
“Hello, Carlos. I’m Charles.”
“You are kidding,” Carlos says, grinning. “Mate, this is fate.” He elbows Charles, who can’t help his answering laugh. “I’m honored to be the one to help you out of this, eh- hairy situation.” Charles just shakes his head.
“Not French, by the way,” he says, and Carlos raises his brows. “You called me French, before.”
“Not French,” Carlos says, adopting a thoughtful expression.
“I speak French - Italian, also. But I am not from France.”
“Speak French but not from France,” Carlos repeats, rubbing his chin. “Swiss?” Charles shakes his head again. “Belgian?”
“No,” he says, laughing.
“No, no, no. Of course not. You don’t sound it,” Carlos says, as if someone else had suggested it, rather than himself.
Charles raises a brow, enjoying this game more than he should. They’ve already reached shore by now, but they’re just sort of idling near the water, wet feet collecting loose sand as they drip dry.
“Canada?” Carlos suggests. Charles gives him a moment to stew, before shaking his head.
“Do I sound Canadian?”
“I don’t know,” Carlos laughs. “Ehm, Africa? No. Madagascar?”
“Madagascar?” Charles repeats, mystified.
“Maybe! Why not?” Carlos says, shrugging.
“You will never guess it.”
“Well, tell me then.”
“Mm, I don’t think I should,” Charles says, laughing.
“I will never guess it, huh?” Carlos mutters to himself, thinking.
Charles is surprised he’s still trying to figure it out. It reminds him of how competitive Pierre can be - how competitive all the other drivers on the grid are. Carlos is certainly built like an athlete, so the competitiveness seems to fit. Charles decides to distract him.
“You are from Spain?” Carlos nods.
“I live in Madrid, but I come here during summer to work,” he says. Now standing next to him, Charles realizes he’s a little taller than Carlos. He doesn’t know why that surprises him. “Are you staying in Palma?”
“Near there,” Charles says, forgetting the exact name of where they’re staying.
“Ah well, me and some friends are getting drinks in town tonight. You’re welcome to join. We can show you the right way to party in España.” Carlos grins and Charles laughs, but he’s not sure he should agree. A group of people he doesn’t know, any of whom could recognize him and post about where he is and what he’s up to?
“Tempting,” is what he ends up saying. “Maybe, if we don’t have something planned. Where will you go?”
“Eh, here and there. We’ll probably start at a place called Calama.”
“Calama,” Charles repeats, making sure he’s got it right.
“Sí. It’s on ____. That’s the street name. Say it because I don’t trust you.” Charles laughs, but obliges, stumbling through it a bit, but getting there in the end. “Okay. Bueno.”
“Thanks again for the swim trunks,” Charles says.
“It’s no problem.” Carlos grins again, and Charles gets the feeling he’s someone who likes to laugh. He supposes that’s a stupid thought - who doesn’t?
“See you, mate,” he says, waving as he takes a step toward his family.
“See you,” Carlos says back, then pauses. “Luxembourg?” Charles raises his brows, shaking his head. “Mierda. I will guess it.”
Charles laughs and turns around, finally joining his family who appears to hardly notice his arrival. He flicks his brothers each on the back of the head, who both yelp more in surprise than in pain.
“What was that for?” Arthur says, rubbing his head.
“For being an idiot.”
Lorenzo squints at him. “Are you wearing different shorts?”

You could call this a charlos 'meet cute'... lmao

May I politely ask for the lupin the gang and zenigata celebrating readers birthday?
One for all of them platonically,
And then maybe individually for their partners?
Celebrating your b-day with the lupgang and the inspectors!! :]
I’ll probably write one for them all platonically at a later date! I didn’t want this one getting any longer than it already was lmAO
LUPIN
-WILL GO ALL OUT!! It’s your special day and he’s going to spoil you
-Breakfast in bed! Makes the best kinds of food he can for you!! Although he did eat some of it while cooking- so if you’re missing a croissant or your strawberries are missing, he ate them
-croissant with chocolate, your favourite expensive tea that is usually reserved for special occasions, crepes with all your favourite fillings/toppings
-he 100% begged Goemon and Jigen to help make your breakfast. They gave in when he busted out The Puppy Dog Eyes.
-spoils you with his riches from heists
-buys you that super special something you had been eyeing for a while but never got it for whatever reason
-he wants to take you everywhere, just glad to be with you and probably takes you to a special place to show you the best view of the city you’re in or somewhere to see the landscape
-fancy dinner!! Zenigata is actually the server, Lupin ‘bribed’ him to help out on your special day :)
-he’s really really REALLY cheesy about it, pulls out your chair for you, jokes about the wine (“mhm.. I’m quite sure this is… *swirls wine and smells it* yup, this is wine!) because he wants to make you smile and laugh :)
JIGEN
-pretty chill about your bday
-but that’s what he WANTS you to think
-he actually wants to spoil you but doesn’t want to overwhelm you because y’know, he likes being mellow
-so you’ll get nice surprises throughout the day!
-‘simple’ breakfast in bed, he made you cinnamon rolls, fresh cut fruit and hand squeezed orange juice
-chocolates and roses :)
-y’all probably nap on the couch together !!! And it’s sweet !!! [[Fujiko took a picture of it, prepare to be teased by Lupin and Fujiko]]
-Jigen drives you everywhere on your bday, he’s your personal chauffeur
-he takes you out to a really fancy dinner and makes sure his tie matches your outfit
-but if you’d prefer a picnic or something, he will gladly get the food and take you to a park to have a picnic on the hill at sunset in your fancy clothes
-dancing!! on the grass together!!
GOEMON
-he makes the BEST breakfast in bed
-like MAN!!! This is a five star meal in your bed served by ‘the coolest samurai you know’ (he knows he’s the only samurai you know but he appreciates the sentiment)
-omurice, orange juice, grilled fish, miso soup and pickled radishes (if you don’t want the radishes, he will happily sit with you and eat them)
-museum date? Museum date.
-would mostly just follow you around in the museum, holding hands ofc, as he admires you rather than the history and art around him
-he definitely carves a little statue of your favourite animal with his zantetsuken
-which he is delighted to show you because he had been practicing to carve the perfect little figurine for you
-when the sun starts setting, he starts getting visibly excited because that means it’s dinner time!
-the two of you go on a quick lil hike, one you haven’t been on before
-you end up near a stunning waterfall and small pond where Goemon has a small dinner laid out on a picnic blanket with little lanterns to light the place up :)
-picnic dinner under the stars as he points out constellations and tells you the stories behind them all
FUJIKO
-literally the queen of planning when it comes to your birthday
-prepare to be spoiled and teased all day because there’s no escape from Fujiko’s plans for you
-wakes you up by throwing a pillow at you and pulling you out of bed to get the day started
-she will do your make up regardless of your gender. Heavy makeup? She’s got ya. Light makeup? You bet! You’re going to look STUNNING no matter what and it’s gonna be fantastic
-shopping spree [she paid for it by stealing some of Lupin’s heist money]
-she makes you try on outfits she puts together just for you and she made some SNAZZY outfits for you, like she tailored them all to your style and preferences
-after shopping and dropping off the spoils of your mall victory, she takes you on a motorcycle ride around the city and the outskirts of town
-Spa!!! Day!!! She’s gonna take you to this spa that’s low key unheard of BUT it’s one of the best spas that she knows
-wine and champagne over a fancy dinner and a show is how the night ends
ZENIGATA
-since he’s almost always awake before you, breakfast in bed was a breeze
-which is what he WANTED to say.
-buuuttttt he kinda burnt the toast… and the eggs, and the bacon- but he means well!!! He just got distracted and then panicked when the first try of toast caught on fire
-wants to be very gentlemanly for you!! Extra effort to open/hold doors for you, carrying your bag at work, pulling out chairs, the whole kit n kaboodle
-probably the kind of guy to make a show of it being your b-day!! Makes you wear the silly birthday hat and little streamer poppers!! You and Zeni will have confetti in your hair for days
-he makes sure you have a lighter workload at work so that you can have a more chill day :)
-tries to make your Cup Ramen fancier when he makes a snack for the two of you and draws a smiley face on the lid to make you smile
-leaves little snacks and a cute/silly note for you when he has to leave to do something
-the two of you go on a nice long drive when the end of the day nears. It’s simple, but it’s one of his favourite past times
YATA
-intended on making you breakfast in bed but forgot to get up early enough to do that. Instead, he’s still wrapped around you in bed as the big spoon, still snoozing away with you
-he leaves little post it notes all over the place for you to find, each has little hearts or smiley faces doodled into the corners
-gets you your fave flowers and plenty of chocolates, leaves them on your desk as a surprise at work
-can and WILL run around with you on his back to make you laugh
-[he did it at work, got lightly scolded but Zenigata thought it was sweet and funny]
-dancing!!! in the kitchen!!! while he makes you a birthday cake!!!
-you both may or may not have flour handprints all over each other (you do. You both do. So many silly hand prints.)
-he’s definitely not the kind of guy to be super fancy in general but he puts extra effort in to be a bit fancier for your b-day
-makes you lunch and dinner :) he makes a really cute bento box lunch and one of the best dinners you’ve ever had
-definitely got you a stuffed animal that reminded him of you!!
-at the end of the day, you both end up falling asleep on the couch together under a blanket as the TV continues to play some show or movie

Happy Birthday!
Do you think Teacher Gai was ever treated on a nice date from his secretly- a- god- boyfriend Kakashi? Maybe for his own birthday he wanted to go outside the village. Nothing far (his last life scratched that traveling urge for at least another life time XD) just a little camping trip to get away from it all. And Kakashi, thinking of the caves was like "I know a place! Babe, let me buy you some nice hiking boots and show you a good time."
And Gai can't say no to that! Especially Kakashi promises a hot spring along the way! (Kakashi going to Jiraiya or some other god and being all "I'm cashing in a favor. Make me an onsen!!! I need to treat my bae!" )
(Kakashi making a lot of new temporary buisnesses to treat his honey in this life time~ first a farm now a onsen, and then they can go see the dragon caves! (Though the farm will be recycled for another life soon~~~))
Also, if this Gai is also born on new years or around that time, they could watch fire works from above on the mountains! They get to watch Tonika light up!
Gai’s birthday is always on the new year, though i’m not sure they would have that calender at this point so the fireworks could be for something else
Perhaps even celebrating the birth of the great dragon hero, hence the fireworks that they created in order to display something to the dragon’s power.
Kakashi i think would go to Nakano about the Onsen tbh. Her or Rin, since they are goddess’ connected to water. All he’d have to do is dig the hole and they can ensure water gather’s there and boils to a nice warm temperature.
Gai loves the Onsen because it helps his body relax, and maybe Kakashi was introduced to them during traveller gai’s lifetime and has been wondering why tf tonika doesn’t have one because they are fantastic
Every village should have an Onsen
Then once they’re sufficently relaxed they head to the cliff that’s only like, 2 hours walk outside the edge of the village (the village grows around the village so by the time of mortal Kakashi’s life it’s just outside the village. Lil Gai made one heck of a hike in that first lifetime but the small more temperary homes they had were closer because the cliff provided cover
When Gai steps into the cave (for the first time in this lifetime) he feels like he has come home. He immediately starts exploring and studying all of the painting, wanting to learn as much as he can about them.
Then when it’s nightfall Kakashi gestures him to join outside because the fireworks have started, and it’s a beautiful display
Gai always loved the fireworks, but the view from the cliff is the most spectacular he has ever seen.

rb's Free Rider's Motorcycle Memories (2 / oo)
On the Route des Grandes Alpes (Maritime Alps, France) – and some thoughts on the age of 60
First picture: Me and my Triumph Tiger Sport 1050 on a pass on the Route des Grandes Alpes towards Nice via Valley of Isere (Val d'Isere): Col d'Allos.
With my type of motorcycle clothing 8-) , it was also possible to hike up to the managed lake d'Allos (Lac d'Allos) without any problems. It's about 30 minutes (one way) from the parking lot further up, which is subject to a fee in the high season. The path runs partly on a rocky track next to the meandering stream bed. The path is marked with information boards explaining the formation of the stream and the peculiarities of the lake and its surroundings.
However, I don't want to give a description of the Maritime Alps (discover them for yourself!), but rather make a few comments on how traveling by motorcycle has changed for me with age.
So, let's go back to the first picture: A good 10 years ago in a somewhat freer and simpler world (also for motorcyclists): less complicated, less regulated, more light-hearted than today.
When I was younger, I wished the journey would take forever, and I could well imagine living in this fantastic mountain world: right on the spot, so to speak, without the tedious approach route of hundreds of kilometers.
The latter is still the case today, although in view of developments in Europe, the question arises as to whether I am far enough away there from growing madness …
In the early years, I also savored the trip to the hilt and always returned well after midnight or in the early morning, usually in pouring rain.
Nowadays, at the beginning of my 6th decade of life, it's the growing feeling: "I'm here and it's still nice, the routes are still fantastic to ride; I've seen a lot again and also new things, but now it's also good to go home again". Today I usually stay overnight again on the route back - due to my age. One positive aspect of getting older is that the feeling of being back home becomes stronger. By "home" I mean the people and the landscape: the environment in which I grew up. People and landscape are interwoven in a special, almost mysterious way; a realization that takes time.
The last two pictures: So I usually come back in the early evening nowadays. If the weather is not too bad, I take off my luggage and immediately cycle up a few more 10 kilometers to our "small" mountain and forest landscape here; in good weather bathed in the almost golden light of the evening sun in late summer and early autumn. And I am enjoying our narrow mountain roads through our mixed forests, our green meadows and our gentle to rugged (steep) slopes of the vineyards.
Here it is the south of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, not the "far" south of europe. It is not the fantastic mountain and rock world of the Alps with its (drivable!) passes up to over 2700 m altitude, its deeply carved gorges, its mountain lakes and streams, its alpine farming areas, its often grotesque and "dangerously" narrow roads, with their different people, their slightly different way of life. (You see, I'm already starting to miss that again.)
But it's my home and it feels good to be back.
And to get ready again for the next trip.

Krummholz. If there is one word to describe how whitebark pines deal with living at high elevations, in not so perfect soils, long winters with windy storms, that word would probably be krummholz.
Krummholz describes how trees can be twisted and made crooked by wind and winter weather. Found most often at the highest places that trees can grow, called tree line, krummholz trees are the trees sculpted and pruned, sometimes into amazing shapes. Whitebark pines are very good at krummholz. They can go with the flow of the winds and winter storms found in the high elevations of the subalpine environment. They are most easily viewed at Sunrise, our park’s highest summer road.
Whitebark pines are not tall trees. Without wind sculpting, they tend to be about 16-66 feet tall. They are wonderfully long lived trees ranging from 500 to 1,000 years old. Because they live in areas with not so wonderful soil (kind of rocky), with long winters, lots of snow and wind, whitebark pines are also slow growing trees. But as small and twisted as they may be, whitebark pines have big roles in the subalpine environment. They help stabilize soils, regulate run-off and snowmelt, and provide an important food source to subalpine animals with their seeds.
Currently listed by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as a Threatened species, the whitebark pine is under threat from non-native white pine blister rust, native mountain pine beetles, impacts from altered fire regimes, climate change, and combinations of all four of these. Scientists have been working on these problems, especially the blister rust, for a while now. Programs are under way to find a way to save these amazing trees even as their numbers decrease across their range and in the park.
Where is your favorite place to see whitebark pines? Have you hiked trails or gone to scenic viewpoints and found some fantastic krummholz shapes in the pines? ~ams

Whenever you have time, I’d love some dvd style commentary on Spiced Black Tea.
What struck me about it when I read it way back, was the atmosphere. Having done a lot of hiking to small shelters and bothies myself, it was instantly familiar. Thought you captured the cosiness of such places really well, and how they invite confessions/intimacy. Maybe because they’re temporary, liminal spaces, with a certain kind of magic— the things that happen there have a different weight. (Or so I think anyway lol).
Maybe not a snippet exactly, but it was hard to choose a specific section!
Thank you for sending this, my dear! That is absolutely the atmosphere I was trying to go for, and since I don't actually have experience of a hike that takes more than one day yet, I'm really glad I was able to recreate that for Elena and Yuffie on vibe alone.
I ended up just sort of running with this where it took me, and I'm cutting it because it features discussion of attempted sexual assault, the sexualisation of underage girls, and the experience of being on the receiving end of a predatory gaze in general. Nothing graphic but be careful of your limits.
You've very much right that what transpired in that cabin was facilitated by the liminality of the space – temporary passing-through places, the small hours of the morning, the internet, all these ways you can end up feeling a little removed from reality and the allowance this grants for vulnerability that might never express itself in daylight. I think Yuffie and Elena would've gotten there eventually, but the snow definitely helped expedite the process a bit.
What I hadn't quite realised until I received this ask was that the fic was kind of a liminal space for me as well. Sexual violence isn't a topic I handle unless canon necessitates it, simply because I feel like I have very little of import or distinction to say on the matter. But if I was going to write these characters, I needed to address the whole of their stories, and I'm pretty proud of the fact that I managed to turn one of my least favourite scenes in the game into an opportunity to deepen both characters and talk about some real stuff.
Partway through the quest, the FFVII adventuring party is sidelined when Yuffie (who's sixteen) and Elena (who doesn't have a canon age but reads to me as around the same) are kidnapped and threatened with sexual slavery. It's played for laughs and never brought up again afterwards. On the one hand, it's clear in context that neither of them are at any point in any real danger, but on the other... there's more than could have been done here if it had to be included at all. The scene as a whole redeems itself somewhat and works as a fantastic “Hands across the aisle” moments for the protagonists and a squad of secondary antagonists, hinting at a lot of interesting characterisation for the latter – but almost none of that is extended to the girls who are suffering here, and I wasn't about to let that slide. They're both young people with a staunch, black and white view of the world and the conflict they find themselves on opposite sides of – I would've loved to see both of them reconsidering a few things in light of having a terrible experience in common with one of the enemy. In addition, they both hold themselves to very high standards, and very masculine standards at that; it's all about winning, dominating, besting, might making right. There's no way both of them aren't acutely aware that this never would've happened to them if they were boys, and no way it wouldn't haunt them in deep, self-image-shattering ways afterwards.
There's a lot of my experience in there, too, as a queer woman terrified of externalising and perpetuating a gaze that's predatory and invasive, no matter how unfounded that fear might be. I was twelve the first time I noticed an adult man taking notice of me; horrifying enough on its own, but as I grew older and heard more and more harrowing experiences from other women, I learned just how lucky I was to receive nothing more than a look, and to reach such a relatively high age when I did. The idea of having to consider myself fortunate for this is a black mark of shame across the whole world, and on a personal level, it made admitting and embracing my own attraction to women carry a lot of shame and guilt. Again, not as bad as many people from more actively homophobic backgrounds would have it, but enough to weigh on me. Of all the responses I've gotten to my writing over the years, I'm really proud of and touched by the comments from people with some similar personal histories to me and to the girls that said they felt comfortable reading, in the presence of and in a story concerning other women who understand. That's a badge of honour I'll take to the grave.
Somewhat relatedly, but another layer of the fic is its exploration of the hole Yuffie's barely remembered late mother left in her life, and the difficulty she has interfacing with other women because of it. If I recall correctly it's not something any comment I've received has really remarked on but I think I did a good job of weaving that aspect into the subtext, informing the main plot quietly. She's a character who isn't taken seriously or delved into by the fandom at large, at least in my experience, so I like to think I did my small part to contribute to that.
I'll take this opportunity to recommend the fic Scratching the Itch, which is the only one I've found to cover some similar territory. It's not romantic (though it is briefly gay) and it doesn't end with any sort of release or resolution, but it does a remarkable amount with a little.

Thank you, 2023, for such a wondrous ride! You have helped me broaden my skills, patience, and, most of all, my faith. It was an incredible ride, with some moments being truly great. I'll never forget the highs and lows of emotions from last year; all those experiences are acknowledged. I'll always be thankful to you because you helped me open another chapter in my life where I found the love of my life. I believe everything happens for a reason. Some people left my life, but as they say, when something leaves, someone arrives. She's the one I've been waiting for, my partner, someone with whom I can share my life.
In order to move forward, I'd like to reflect again on 2023. I accomplished so much in the wheel of life, and I was satisfied. I appreciate and am grateful for all the events that unfolded in each area of my life.
At the start of the new year in 2023, I treated myself to an IMAX experience and made time for more leisure activities to move on from the challenging experiences of 2022. The movie was great, leaving me amazed and somewhat reflective—I was moved by the family's sacrifices for each other.
As an outdoor lover, I pursued adventures. I joined friends for a hike at Mt. Masungi Georeserve, enjoying the calm and safe experience. The scenery was fantastic, offering breathtaking views of Rizal. We also visited Daranak, my first time seeing such a wonderful waterfall—a legit adventure.
After Mt. Masungi, I tackled more hikes—Mt. Ulap, Mt. Pulag, Mt. Malvars, Mt. Talamitam, and Mt. Apayang—all incredible experiences. I challenged myself further by participating in the intimidating Spartan race. Despite doubts and limitations, I pushed myself and found it to be a worthwhile and thrilling experience under the sun. Super proud of these achievements.
Last year, we finally bought our first-ever second-hand car, bringing immense joy to my father, and fulfilling one of our dreams—to see him drive a private car. Remarkably, we bought it on my birthday!
On that very evening, I messaged Arcel, who is now my girlfriend. I felt comfortable talking to her, and our conversations gradually led to dates, introductions to friends, and family. We enjoyed attending various events, going on adventures, and creating cherished memories together.
Later in the year, I ticked off some bucket list items—travelling to Palawan and experiencing the beauty of Japan for the first time. Both experiences were incredible, leaving lasting impressions and cherished memories.
This year, one of my siblings went abroad to one of my dream countries. I believe it's part of God's plan, blessing us in both small and big ways. I'm proud of my sister's transformation and her active involvement in every worship service to God.
Additionally, I met my girlfriend's family, a memorable experience. Eventually, I introduced her to my family in the last month of 2023, a year filled with many firsts. I'm grateful for these opportunities.
In summary, 2023 was a year of firsts and checking off bucket list moments. I cherish them all and eagerly anticipate more adventures with family, friends, and my girlfriend.
Today, I'm walking into the year 2024, January, feeling much like last year. The work challenges and room setup remain unchanged. Some people still indulge in peculiar jokes. I began the first week of the year with enthusiasm and a positive outlook. I drafted my focus for the entire year and areas for improvement. I've set my mind to consider this year as one where discipline holds the key to progress in life. I opt for the harder path now to avoid regret later on. By discipline, I mean taking care of my body, maintaining a balanced diet, and nurturing a healthy mind. Mastering control over my emotions in every life situation is another goal. I'm steering away from quick judgments of people because everyone has their story, and none of us are perfect. My focus is on personal growth and forging deeper connections with my loved ones. I've observed individuals who practice this and they exude happiness while broadening their perspectives. I deeply admire such individuals.
With my girlfriend, my partner in life, we've committed to inspiring each other, igniting fires within ourselves, and propelling one another to places we rightfully belong. We aim for a tranquil, healthy life surrounded by our loved ones. Hopefully, by year-end, our bond will be stronger, having embarked on this journey together with youthful determination. The first week has been challenging for her, but I have faith in her resilience to overcome these obstacles. I strive to learn from her experiences and remain grateful for every opportunity we face together.
In this year, I'm determined to become a better, wiser person. My mantra: "Better days are coming." It's a year of encouragement and victories. To kickstart, my goal for the first quarter is to establish a habitual system—exercising, prioritizing a healthy diet for mind and body, reducing social media usage, and enhancing in-person social connections.
Let's do this!

The Inca Trail - Parte Uno
Sam Travel picked 10 of us up from our hotel dark and early at 4:30 AM on Friday to begin our journey. We stopped in Ollantaytambo for a hearty breakfast before continuing on to Piskacucho or Kilometer 82 to begin our trek. There, our lovely porters gathered our belongings and we took off with only our small daypacks and our guides, Jhony and Junior.
Besides the early wakeup, it was a pretty easy first day with 7.5 miles of undulating terrain. Along the way we got to observe a few Inca sites. We were all faster than anticipated and arrived at our lunch spot early which earned us a short siesta while the chef and porters set us up a fantastic 3-course lunch with salad, soup, and a buffet-style main course.
When we arrived at our beautiful campsite, our tents had already been set up in a line with mountain views surrounding. We changed into our comfy clothes and played with the multiple puppies that were running around the site. For dinner, we had a four course meal and then we ended the night playing the card game shithead.
We awoke around 4:30 AM to a knock on our tent from 3 porters dressed in orange suits offering us coca tea to drink as we got ready. Day 2 was the day of the climb to Dead Woman's Pass which required almost 3k ft of elevation gain to reach a height of 13,779 ft and around 10 miles of hiking.
Instead of an elaborate trail lunch, the group opted for a 10:30 AM cheese and tea time so we were able to power through the trail and relax once we got to camp.
Bess and I lead the pack for a majority of the day as we powered up the seemingly never-ending steps. In the morning the trail was tree-lined, but as we got closer to the top, it became more exposed. The top of Dead Woman's Pass revealed expansive views of the Andes and sense of accomplishment for everyone - we had already completed the hardest part of the trail! It was (mostly) downhill from there.
To keep ourselves going, Bess, Amelia, and I took turns singing whatever songs came to mind from artists ranging from The Beatles, to Brittney Spears to Disney.
When we got to camp, we rested before tea time where we were welcomed with a flaming turkey decorated with marshmallow feathers. Again, we played shithead and it only got more intense. We had another elaborate dinner and then I ended the night by reading Amelia, my tent-mate, a portion of my book "Circling Around the Sun". When Amelia fell asleep, I stopped reading and then got complaints from Bess and Meredith in the neighboring tent who wanted to know what happened next, so, I continued.

Travel place Idea 2023
Maui
Maui is a small island in Hawaii, with white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. It's a popular tourist destination for its beauty and variety of activities. You can enjoy breathtaking views from the top of Haleakala volcano or hike through rainforest trails on the slopes of Haleakala.
Maui has some amazing waterfalls like Wailea Falls or Wailua Falls which are both part of the Hawaiian Islands National Wildlife Refuge (HINWR). You can also visit Lana'i or Lanai if you want to see some more beautiful beaches like Black Rock Beach or Kukuiula Beach Park where people come here during summer months because there is no waves so it's very safe for swimming too!
Another great place to visit while staying in Maui would be Wailea Golf Club where there are lots more things besides just playing golfing games such as tennis courts where players get together after they finish their day’s play; facility includes catering services available 24 hours per day seven days per week including bar service available at various locations throughout property during normal business hours only not available off-site due to liability issues associated with serving alcohol outside licensed premises when customers aren't present within immediate proximity so please make sure everyone behaves responsibly before drinking any alcoholic beverages
alaska
Alaska is the 49th state of the United States and one of the largest, most mountainous, and least densely populated states in the United States. It has been named by Lonely Planet as one of its top 10 destinations for 2019. You can visit this beautiful place by flying to Anchorage or Fairbanks or even by driving through Denali National Park and Preserve.
iceland
Iceland is a country in northern Europe. It's made up of many islands and volcanoes, so it has a lot of natural beauty to offer.
Iceland is home to some of the best hiking trails in all of Europe, as well as some fantastic restaurants and bars that serve traditional Icelandic dishes like whale meat and puffin eggs (which are served on toast). You'll also find plenty of waterfalls if you're looking for something more adventurous than just relaxing by the pool with your friends!
Maldives
Maldives is an island country in the Indian Ocean. It is situated between India and Sri Lanka, atolled by 1,192 coral islands (1,190 if you count the minor atolls). This tiny country has been known as “the land of water” since ancient times because of its vast amounts of water surrounding it.
Maldives offers tourists many things to do: diving with sharks and turtles; snorkeling on coral reefs; walking through tropical forests or exploring ancient temples; eating seafood cooked over coconut husks while taking in the beautiful scenery around you...
Monaco
Monaco is the second smallest country in the world. It has only about 324,000 people and it’s located on the coast of France.
Monaco has a lot of casinos and hotels, but it also has museums like The Musée National des Châteaux de Malmaison and Musée Guggenheim du Design.
france
France is a beautiful country that has many different cities and towns. It is an excellent place to visit if you are looking for culture, history, or even just some good food!
Here are some ideas for your trip:
Paris - Paris is one of the most famous cities in all of Europe. You can visit any one of the museums there and see amazing artworks from around the world! There’s also plenty more going on besides just sightseeing—you could check out some concerts or performances at Les Etoiles de la Rue (the Stars of La Rua), which offers theater performances throughout its three venues: Théâtre de la Bourse; Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier; and Studio Kino. Or if you have time left over after touring these places, why not take part in something like cycling through Montmartre? This hike will take about 2 hours roundtrip depending on how fast/slow paced you want your ride!
We should go traveling with my friends
Traveling with friends is a great way to have fun, relax and meet new people. It’s also an exciting experience that will make you feel like you are living life on your own terms.
Traveling by yourself can be very stressful if you don’t have anyone to share it with or take care of when things get tough. Traveling with other people who care about each other can help relieve some of this stress when traveling together as well as making sure everyone has what they need during their trip (food & water).
Conclusion
We hope this list of travel ideas has given you some inspiration for your next trip! We know that it can be hard to decide where to go and what to see, but these places offer something special for everyone. Whether it's the beautiful landscapes.

9 Great Activities for Dogs and Pets in Boston!
By John Grzybowski
A common traveler’s rule of thumb when arriving in a new city is always to “ask a local.” Whether you need the best food, the easiest parking, or the most vibrant nightlife, locals are always trying to be ahead of the curve and usually point visitors in the right direction.
Greater Boston Dog Hikes has been scoping out the best spots in Boston for dogs and their owners for more than 10 years, and now we’d like to share our favorites with you!
9 Dog-Friendly Activities to Do in Boston
For more places to see than the dog park near the airport, check out these nine dog-friendly activities to do in Boston.
1. Walk Beacon Hill
One of Boston’s oldest and most elegant neighborhoods, Beacon Hill is nationally renowned for its architecture and design. Its well-preserved cobblestone streets are full of small parks and beautiful scenes for you and your pup to explore.
Note that it is, in fact, on one of Boston’s highest hills, so be ready to climb and work out some excess energy!
2. Visit the Boston Public Garden
The Boston Public Garden is not only America’s first botanical garden, but it is also one of the most scenic spots in the whole city. Featuring famous statues, diverse trees and flowers, and a four-acre pond with swan boats, there is never a lack of sights to see here.
Leashed dogs are welcome, and there are free dog waste bags at the corners of the garden.
The Boston Public Garden is located adjacent to the Boston Common, which is a larger park that has an off leash area!
3. Go to the Beach
Most of the year, Boston’s beaches are known for their wind and frigid waters. However, come summertime, these beaches become focal points of the city's daytime leisure, and many of the best beaches are dog-friendly!
Some of our favorite dog-friendly beaches in the area include:
Revere Beach: America’s oldest public beach has been dog-friendly since 2013, and it’s well worth a visit! It is train and bus accessible and fills up rather quickly in the summer.
Pleasure Bay Beach (South Boston): This bottle-opener-shaped bay is the most scenic spot in Southie and allows dogs year round.
Carson Beach (South Boston/Dorchester): Located further south than Pleasure Bay, between Southie and Dorchester, this is a smaller but no less lovely beach. Dogs are welcome from Labor Day through Memorial Day.
4. Walk the Seaport Harborwalk
Across the harbor from Downtown is the newly bustling Seaport District. Besides the area’s high-end bars and restaurants, the Seaport also boasts a beautiful stretch of Boston’s 43-mile long Harborwalk, which stretches from Dorchester to East Boston.
Your pup can get in some good sniffs while you bask in the views of Downtown, the Airport, and some of the harbor islands in the distance.
Dogs must be leashed on the Harborwalk, but dog waste bags are provided at several spots along the walk.
5. Rose Kennedy Greenway
Stretching from the southern tip of Chinatown to the North End, the Rose Kennedy Greenway is a long series of parks and art installations that is sure to impress. The Greenway crosses through the heart of Downtown Boston, passing through notable landmarks such as The Aquarium and Faneuil Hall.
Located within walking distance of several of the city’s key attractions, you can enjoy several dog-friendly parks where you can socialize with other dog owners while visiting The Greenway.
We’d recommend taking the Green Line to Haymarket Station and then taking the Greenway from the North End all the way to South Station to get a good taste of the Downtown atmosphere.
6. Ride the “T”
By far the best way to get around Boston is its fantastic subway system (which is the oldest in America). The “T,” as it is known, can take you all over the city for a few dollars – best of all, dogs ride free!
Boston’s public transit system allows service animals at all hours, and non-service animals are allowed to ride at all times except rush hours. What classifies as rush hour can sometimes be up to the train operator, so be ready to occasionally wait for the next train.
Dogs riding the buses and trains must be leashed at all times, and they cannot take up their own seat.
Take the T with your pup to cover the whole city in a day!
7. Play at the Dog Park
Boston has a fantastic selection of off-leash dog parks for you to choose from! A few of our favorites include:
South Boston Bark Park (1280 Columbia Road)
Peters Park Dog Park (1205 Washington St., Boston)
East 1st Dog Park (768-764 E 1st St., northern section of South Boston)
The Underground Dog Park (S Bay Harbor Trail, Boston
Bay Village Dog Park (114 Charles St, Boston)
If you want to polish up your pups obedience skills our team is typically in these parks daily!
8. Go to a Dog-Friendly Event
Boston offers many different pet-themed events for all seasons. A couple that you may want to check out include:
Canine Promenade – Boston hosts an annual ½-mile Halloween Parade on the Charles River Esplanade. Walk the town with your pup and enter the costume contest to win prizes from the judges!
Carnival of Dogs – This dog carnival, held in early September, turns the Rose Kennedy Greenway into a great place to introduce your pup to new friends!
9. Blue Hills Reservation
Just nine miles south of Downtown Boston is the expansive and breathtaking Blue Hills Reservation. This 7,000 acre state park offers varied terrain, scenic views, mountain biking and skiing, as well as ponds for swimming and hiking trails for you and your pup!
The Blue Hills hiking trails are a favorite of local dog owners, and we regularly take out our dogs here for longer-distance hikes. Make sure your pet is fit enough for extended walking, especially in older age! But any dog still keen on trekking will love this path.
During the summer, on-leash walking is advised as the trails can get crowded.
***
