The hunger games feels disturbingly relevant right now, "it's not left vs right, it's up vs down." And "it's not the districts vs eachother, it's the districts against the capital." Only the richest are truly safe, the attempts to censor things from outside of the US and Panem. The act hunger games is one of the ones on the banned books list is so telling along with Fahrenheit, the hand-maidens tale, the giver,animal farm, etc. The type of society we live in right now is so utterly clear.

Just read It's Just a Prank, Bro by Tachvintlogic on AO3 and, man, now my brain is coming up with concepts for a similar idea like:

Danny having many run-ins with Constantine where Danny will say something or give some "advice" for something he sees as a Problem TM.

Note: Danny does not have the same views as most people on what is and isn't good/bad.

Their first interaction: They meet at a bar and Danny warns him about his smoking habit. Constantine ignores the "advice" and later it turns out his current box of cigarettes have been laced with poison. Constantine—after leaving the Justice League's medical ward a week later—proceeds to lose his goddamn mind about this random guy who maybe knew about it.

Constantine goes out and tracks down this guy he met once in a bar only to find that Danny has no idea what he's talking about poisons and assassination attempts, but is he alright? Danny being concerned for this dude who tracked him down and doesn't even care that John was accusing him of being part of the assassination attempt.

(No Ghost King!Danny AU where Danny retires as teen hero and now is living his best life as just a dude who goes to work and—sure, occasionally visiting friends in the ghost zone—doesn't do crime fighting much anymore.)

So Constantine leaves convinced Danny is Just Some Guy and this was a coincidence. Danny walks him to the door politely and cracks a joke about being careful not to trip on cracks on the sidewalk, don't want to make it easier on the assassins, right?

Two days later, Constantine trips on uneven sidewalk and accidentally sets off a trap that gets him kidnapped by assassins. Goddamnit.

Just, accidental prophet Danny.

final ep of yellowjackets s3 really puts the puzzle pieces together why teen shauna is Like That out there but adult shauna (specifically at lotties compound) seems rejects the "wilderness" and the idea of "it". the girls adopted this belief for survival or out of trauma but for shauna it was something she chose to do for fun. who hasn't been a teenage girl and wanted to scream and kill and cut the hair off her rival peers in high school. she finally got the chance to act on it and she DID. it wasn't the wilderness calling, the call was coming from inside the house! lottie and tai and van and akilah and even mel all believed in the higher power but shauna and misty and nat (and jackie) were the ones that stayed grounded in themselves and revealed their true natures in the freedom of the wilderness.

Looking at the series, GRRM has set up his main protagonists, the "true" heroes, with paralleling, "false" doubles. With Dany, it's Young Griff/Aegon, the mummer's dragon. With Jon, it's Stannis, the false Azor Ahai. And I would make a prediction that with Bran, the true greenseer-cum-god, his double is going to be revealed as Euron, with his raven dreams and ambitions to achieve godhood himself. Obviously this all depends on what goes down in the next book, but I believe the signs are there.

rotating a supernatural x conclave au in my head.... people with higher positions are very aware of the supernatural. there's at least a few psychics, seers, sort of but not really witches, ex-hunters in the vatican. and then, there is pope innocent, who Definitely Has Something Divine going on, but no one can figure out what it is.

and then one random day, thomas comes to see the holy father, only to find him conversing with some guy in a trench coat that definitely shouldn't be here. like how did this guy get into the vatican without going through a million security checkups. vincent notices him first, then the guy notices him. they all stare at each other.

then the guy fucking vanishes. into thin air. thomas is about to have a heart attack. vincent's look of exasperation could give aldo a run for his money. the guy comes back with a 'sorry'. this time thomas does pass out.
