"average lafd firefighter has 3 workers comp claims a year" factoid is actually just statistical error. The average lafd firefighter has 0 claims per year. Evan Buckley who has over 10,000 each year, is an outlier and should not have been counted

I’m really hoping that tomorrow’s episode ends with them already at the hospital and finding out that Buck is in a coma, and not with him still hanging from the ladder.
We know it’s gonna be a cliffhanger, but I think it would be so much more impactful to have it end with finding out he’s super hurt and unconscious. Then start the next episode with them already living with Buck in a coma and his coma dream.
Like the more hurt Buck and terrified firefam we can get tomorrow, the better

6A: Eddie’s doing great! His therapy has really been paying off! He’s happy for once!
6B: But what if we put the love of his life in a coma? What if the one man who helped him through it all, who he begins to realize his love for, who he needs like no other, who he made the father of his son, who is the sun to his moon, who helped him into and through therapy, who is his rock and guiding star… what if we almost kill him. What then, Eddie Diaz….? 🫣👉🥺👈🤕

Been thinking about how fast he’s been growing up so here’s Buck and Chris at the zoo circa 2019.
I can clearly picture Buck taking Chris home to Eddie, he’s passed out in his arms and Eddie has to resit the urge to melt then and there at how precious his family is.

Given everything that happened last episode, I still stand by my statement that Better Than I Know Myself should be considered a Buddie anthem.

Watch 6x10 end with buck falling and them meaning it literally when they say bucks life “hangs” in balance in 6x11. Like literally hanging bc they just haven’t gotten him down yet

I couldn’t stop thinking about the picture of Ryan and Joaquin where Ryan (as Eddie) is wearing the same shirt as Buck.
WHAT IF THE THEORY ABOUT BUCK AND EDDIE SECRETLY DATING IS TRUE, AND EDDIE STAYED THE NIGHT AT BUCKS PLACE BUT DIDNT HAVE ANY OF HIS CLOTHES THERE (BECAUSE USUALLY ITS BUCK WHO STAYS OVER AT EDDIES HOUSE) SO EDDIE BORROWED ONE OF BUCKS SHIRTS!!!

I’ve always praised whoever chooses the music for 911! So if, sorry when (we’re manifesting), we get coma/hospitalised Buck and the subsequent Buddie first kiss I’m sure that whoever picks the music will, once again, slay but I’ve had A Thought. I'll either turn this into a proper song fic, or teach myself how to edit once we have a kiss shot I can use but for now, picture the scene. (Or you can read on AO3)
Buck’s been awake for a few days now, still in hospital recovering and Eddie told himself over and over that he can’t wait until something actually does kill one of them to admit his feelings, now that he’s worked them out, and come to terms with them. So he was going to tell Buck, he really was! But it’s just, there’s always been someone else there… And now Eddie’s sitting, in a chair next to Buck’s bed, watching Buck have an animated conversation with Chris even though he’s absolutely shattered and is clearly putting on a brave face. And in the background is what sounds suspiciously like a piano/power ballad, but it’s quiet, you’ll only hear the lyrics if you listen really carefully and then the music swells, crescendos and a guitar joins in. And Eddie says “Screw it”, and he grabs both of Buck’s cheeks and kisses him just as the chorus takes off.
“And I can’t fight this feeling anymore, I've forgotten what I started fighting for, It's time to bring this ship into the shore, And throw away the oars, forever”
Then I need a really dramatic spinning shot or something for the remaining duration of the chorus, with the background fading out of view
And as the next verse starts, we begin the flashback:
“My life has been such a whirlwind since I saw you”
Buck watching Eddie putting his shirt on (Season 2, Episode 1)
“I've been running 'round in circles in my mind”
Buck running away from the tsunami carrying Chris (Season 3, Episode 2)
“And it always seems that I'm followin' you, girl”
“You can have my back any day” “Yeah. Or, you know, you could... you could have mine.” (Season 2, Episode 1)
“'Cause you take me to the places”
Taking Chris skateboarding (Season 3, Episode 12)
“That alone I'd never find”
Young Buck failing to skateboard (Season 4, Episode 5)
“And even as I wander”
Grocery store fight (Season 3, Episode 5)
“I'm keeping you in sight”
Lawsuit make up hug (Season 3, Episode 6)
“You're a candle in the window”
“There's nobody in this world I trust with my son more than you.” (Season 3, Episode 3)
“On a cold, dark winter's night”
Buck and Eddie talking before finding Chris after the tsunami (Season 3, Episode 3)
“And I'm getting closer than I ever thought I might”
Buckley-Diaz dinner scene (Season 6, Episode 1)
“And I can't fight this feeling anymore”
Eddie smiling at Buck when he’s introduced to Clara (Season 2, Episode 4)
“I've forgotten what I started fightin' for”
Shannon tells Eddie she needed him to have her back, Chris’ birth, Eddie fighting with Shannon while trying to soothe baby Chris, Eddie under fire in Afghanistan (Season 2, Episode 7 and Season 3, Episode 15)
“It's time to bring this ship into the shore”
Buckley-Diaz video games (Season 3, Episode 9 and Season 4, Episode 3)
“And throw away the oars, forever”
Eddie breaking up with Ana (Season 5, Episode 3)
“'Cause I can't fight this feeling anymore”
Buck watching Eddie pick up Chris after the earthquake (Season 2, Episode 3)
“I've forgotten what I started fightin' for”
Taylor leaving Buck’s loft after the breakup (Season 5, Episode 18)
“And if I have to crawl upon the floor”
Buck crawling under the truck after the shooting (Season 4, Episode 14)
“Come crashing through your door”
Buck breaking the door down during Eddie’s breakdown (Season 5, Episode 13)
“Baby, I can't fight this feeling anymore” And we return to the kiss for the outro, they pull back, eyes closed, foreheads resting against each other, dopey grins plastered on their faces. And just as the song ends we hear from Chris “Finally!”, breaking them out of their little world. They pull him into a hug, the Buckley-Diaz family laughing and, more importantly, safe.

What was that book that Carla read?
People who love each other are connected by an invisible string of love?
What is Buck hanging by? What is Eddie lowering him to the group with?
Maybe that Carla line was a throwaway once, but now it’s a FEAST. The writers can’t be this blind to their own doing!!

201 & s6b Buddie Musings - Lightning, Grenade, & Ambulance Stuff
Lightning traveled through Buck’s hands and out his leg (specifically his knee). A grenade traveled from Charlie’s hands and got lodged in his leg (specifically his thigh). That pathway- hands to leg - is stated clearly in each ep. Don’t know if that specifically matters but it was enough to get me thinking about the link between 201, 610/611/612, and Buddie’s shared healing arc.
The larger context for Charlie was that he was holding onto the life that never was but still also grieving the life that never was because of his heart defect. Back on 201, Buck was basically in the same situation by holding onto but also grieving the loss of Abby. We could argue Eddie was also in a similar place, holding onto Shannon and grieving at the same time. I imagine that’s why Buck and Eddie were in that ambo with Charlie.
It’s interesting that Charlie was collecting weapons of war. He was at war with himself in a way. Refusing to fully let go of one potential life/future and it almost killed him. There’s a parallel somewhere in there for Buck in 201 & 611. Buck had been holding onto Daniel and to detrimental ideas about himself and really struggling to take the next steps in his healing journey. He knew in his head that the guilt over “failing” Daniel and not seeing the signs of Maddie’s abuse at Doug’s hands wasn’t his to carry but he didn’t believe it (specifically the Daniel part) until he worked it out in his coma dream and now he’s able to actually chart a new course for himself without deference to his old ideas about himself as inadequate, defective, and unworthy. The lightning just like the grenade was a call to let go of old lives/selves that never really existed. Bonus points for Charlier being a teacher in his real life and Buck being one in his coma dream.
Eddie is of course on his own healing journey too, and for as far as he’s come, there’s still something he’s at war with himself over. And remember Eddie was struck by the same bolt of lightning in 610, and he was also in that ambo with Buck to remove the grenade. In the ambo with Charlie, Eddie was starting phase one of letting go of Shannon by taking vows to Buck. In terms of letting go of Shannon, it was two steps back one step forward for a minute but still Charlie, Buck, and the ambo marked the start of that long journey for him. Now with the lightning strike it’s like Eddie’s in the last leg of that journey in terms of letting go of Shannon, Ana, his old ways of being in romantic relationships, and his warzone mentality. He’s letting go of all of that by learning to hold onto and care for himself. He used to just be on autopilot or hiding his own needs behind whatever he felt Chris needed. Now he’s learning to follow his own heart and fully participate in his own life for himself. Eddie is finally letting go of his past mistakes and fears of not being enough. He’s done some much healing work and now he’s in the home stretch. The lightning is a link to Buck as a part of Eddie fully letting go of his old ways AND fully embracing himself moving forward.
Since Eddie was the one to restart Buck’s heart in 611 and the one to remove the grenade from Charlie’s leg, maybe that suggests that Eddie will have to be the one to let his guard down even further and make the first big emotional move with Buck by telling him he remembers the shooting, and rescuing him after the lightning, and every clutch thing Buck has ever done for him and Chris and that he thinks Buck is neat and and…
Yeah I’m mostly just rambling. I dunno what it all means but it all has to mean something 👀
