I already love Tommy, he’s so nice and confident (which I also think is an amazing thing for Buck to receive first hand since he has issues with feeling like he’s not enough and having Tommy openly show him affection and making the first move will probably help him in their relationship so much)

BUT

I really hope that if Buck and Tommy do not work out, that Tommy and Josh date. Because Josh deserves a man who is not afraid of being gay or dating a man. Josh deserves someone who will confidently date him and show him love and I think Tommy would be perfect for him especially with how he was with Buck, making sure he has the vibe right and still being sure of himself and what he does. Josh has been single for basically the entire show, only having one date end up being a criminal that severely traumatized him and probably turned him away from dating, especially when it comes to strangers. Having Tommy and Josh date seems like it’s just obvious, even if it seems like pairing up the only 2 openly queer men on the show besides Buck (and Eddie?)

Can we please talk about Oliver?

The fact that not only does he agree that Buck is ADHD, he also agrees that (and had the idea of doing this season) Buck is bi.

He never shut down those 2 HCs, he listened to every word of analysis about Bucks ADHD and agreed without getting weird about it like some people. He was the one to want bi!Buck this season before he was told it was happening because he had seen all of the evidence over the years, and wasn't weird about it like some people.

He is extremely open to possibilities, and he is a very understanding man. And I love him for it.

He deserves happiness.

It’s so loud that they had Buck come out to Maddie in quite literally the only way to explicitly indicate to her that Buck’s male date was NOT Eddie. After all these years of fics, theories, and meta about Maddie and whether she sees something Buck and Eddie don’t yet, they had to write a scene where she couldn’t be confused on whether the male date was Eddie, and that is just deeply amusing to me. Even funnier is that we STILL got multiple instances/hints of Maddie knowing more about the Buck and Eddie of it all post-Buck coming out to her (“if there’s something that you need to tell Eddie”, and full-on rolling her eyes at the whole thing while talking to Chimney post-wedding). Maddie’s knowledge and exasperation cannot be contained!!

I think it would be neat if they did a parallel to 7x05 where Buck & Tommy show up at this restaurant for a date & they're going in and they spot Eddie sat at a table. And of course they go over & Buck's all "Hey! Eddie :D We keep picking the same places for dates! Have you guys ordered yet? The pasta is supposed to be really good here-" etc etc and Eddie's sat there all shocked and shifty and then who comes back from the bathroom but Kim- who smiles and introduces herself and is super pleased to meet friends of Eddies'. But ofc Buck & Tommy are frozen like oh shit Eddie's on a date with another woman- another woman who looks like his dead wife!

(Bonus of now lets watch Buck "we're going to go pick up hot chicks!" Buckley fumble through that situation)

I love the little glimpses of Chimney and Denny's relationship and how close they are. Chimney has been there since Denny was a baby. He read up on babies and how to calm them and instead of trying one at a time, he did them all at once. When Chimney went to pick up Hen for work, he saw Denny sitting by himself outside and decided to check on him first. Now he sneaks the kids food because their Moms said no. "Meet me in the kitchen in 10 minutes."

The basketball scene foreshadows the love triangle and it's conclusion.

Buck, first of all, doesn't want to go with Eddie- despite him always offering- but goes when Eddie’s attention is seemingly all on Tommy. Deeper meaning: He didn't know he wanted Eddie until someone else had a chance.

He bumps into Tommy first, quite by accident. Tommy doesn't even flinch. He is unbending and unwavering. Buck stumbles into another relationship, with Tommy, who doesn't yield to anything regarding Buck at all.

Then he faces Eddie, who literally says “you ain't getting past me,” before Buck makes it his mission to hit him. And, unlike his bump into Tommy, Buck shoving Eddie was deliberate. He planned it, you could see it in his face, and besides that a foul like that in the game isn't usually an accident anyway (from what I've been told. I'm no sports expert).

And, unlike Tommy, who didn't budge at all, Eddie completely toppled. He completely folded to Buck where Tommy stood firm. Kinda like how Tommy didn't follow Buck's request for the bachelor party theme and Eddie supported Buck? (And literally any other piece of either relationship, that's just the most obvious example).

(There's something to be said about Buck freezing when he realizes what he did though that I haven't figured out yet).

So the plan after Tommy is really interesting. Oliver said Buck would get a love interest he had to work for. (Something something you don't find it, you make it). Since the game already foreshadowed the beginning of BT, it's likely it foreshadowed the beginning of buddie too.

So. Buck will get his feelings realization first and actually pursue Eddie, rather than waiting for Eddie to make a move. Not only will this realization be “I have a crush on Eddie” it will be “I'm in love with Eddie” because of the “you ain't getting past me” line. Once Buck realizes it's Eddie, it's Eddie. That's it for him. It'll take work though, Buck has to grow past the hamster wheel, Eddie has to grieve Shannon, but once they realize what they want- who they want- that's it.

And since Eddie takes off down the court first, he's going to get a realization too, and understand it a lot sooner and a lot more than Buck. But Buck catches up to him, and when they do collide, Eddie's not going to fight it. Buck will confess, and Eddie won't deny it one bit.
