Buck was meant to realise he was bi in season 4 but it was shut down by Fox, and I don't know if they would have attempted to make Buddie canon, but I am convinced, even if Eddie was being written as straight and they planned to keep it that way, Buck was fully meant to have a crush on him. Just in season 2 episode 4 alone he asks Eddie why he doesn't date, goes with Eddie to the hospital when his grandmother breaks her hip, let's Bobby know what happened and that Eddie needs to bring Christopher to the fire house without Eddie asking or even knowing that he'd done so, talks so much about Eddie that Maddie asks if this 'boy crush' means he's over Abby and introduces Eddie to Carla so she can help him figure out how to get a care plan set up for Christopher. I'm not super clear on the passage of time but it can't be more than a few months since Buck met Eddie yet he's doing everything he can to help him arrange care for Christopher. He is down bad. And I'm all for portrayals of healthy male platonic relationships and more platonic love on TV in general, but it is not reading like that on Buck's side of things at all at this point.
Also he decides to move out of Abby's apartment in the same episode which I don't think is exclusively because of Eddie but I don't think it's unrelated either.
And yeah okay, knowing Buck is canonically bi is colouring my perception of this but knowing he was meant to have that realisation sooner in the show then he did I don't think it's unreasonable to see this is as foreshadowing.

Bobby to the crew: Once again, I will remind all of you that I love you all equally.
Hen: That is bullshit if I've ever heard it.
Chimney: What did I eat for breakfast, cap?! Tell me what I had for breakfast!!!
Buck: Huh? Didn't Bobby make some chocolate blueberry pancakes for everyone?
Eddie: No, babe. That was just for you.
Ravi: It's true. I was there, man.

“Wait, Tommy’s gay?”
“That never came up while you were hanging out?”
Buck, BE THANKFUL he didn’t know. Because if he HAD known, your “we’re gonna pick up hot chicks” outburst would have been somehow EVEN WEIRDER.

I am so so excited to hear josh's take on the bucktommy relationship. moreso can you imagine being josh russo? you have these fun incidental hangouts with your work bff's hot brother who you know as Straight. he's jocular he's fun and friendly and your bff makes jokes about setting you up but untimely he is a Heterosexual. Then one day he comes through saloon doors swinging BAM adonis of a man as his boyfriend. no slight anecdotes from Maddie about him making out with a guy at a bar nothing just BAM. hot pilot boyfriend. who is as broad as he is tall. and he is now pounding your bff's brother into the mattress. and now suddenly ur bff's brother is coming into your job break room to discuss their relationship. so now obviously you are forced to imagine Evan Buckley and his concrete shipment of a man in intimate positions while also taking in whatever emotional maelstrom buck has whirled up. and you who has lamented about the state of gay LA dating ... and has lived life entirely as a gay man ... and has more than a few extremely traumatic experiences ... just to look at your newly-out bff's brother and be like. YEAH! LET IT OUT MAN!

Anyone who believes that Buddie going canon is going to include either of those two men becoming smooth and confidently romantic around each other two seconds in is kidding themselves. Because they’re weird about each other. Like, they’re actually just obsessed with each other every time they’re given a moment to breathe outside of their incredibly traumatic lives. Buck’s not going to know what to do with somebody who loves as wholly as Eddie does, who sees all of him and loves him anyway. Eddie’s not gonna know how to be in a relationship with someone he wants constantly, and who sees through all of his fronts. They’re going to be painfully awkward and maybe even pining while actually dating.
They’re best friends, which might typically mean a smooth and gradual transition of being together, but neither of them do anything by halves. Somebody is going to confess to the other before they’ve fully processed how in love they are or something, and then we’re going to be in trouble. Because they’re weird about each other, they’re impulsive, they’re dorky and Eddie’s only recently begun to accept that he can be that way, and they’re so deeply awkward when people actually love and see them. The start of their relationship is going to be such an embarrassing mess, I truly believe this. But it’s all going to be worth it because it’s embarrassing because they won’t know what to do with all of the love they’re getting from the other, but they’ll figure it out. Together.

Started season 2 of 9-1-1 and you're telling me Buck and Eddie's relationship starts out with Buck disliking Eddie because he's threatened by him?!
I have been queerbaited too many times to get my hopes fully up about canon Buddie but I'm ready to headcanon the hell out of this and I love me some enemies to friends to lovers.

I think sometimes people forget that Buck is a grown man who has ended relationships in the past when he felt uncomfortable (Taylor when she betrayed his trust and Natalia when she was more focused on his experience with death and not on him as a person). If he felt uncomfortable with the way his and Tommy’s relationship was going he would speak up or end it.

You know what I really want from season 7? I want another Buddie blow up like the grocery store.
I want Eddie, whose done a whole lot of healing to yell at Buck that Buck needs to be back in therapy because he died and of course that's going to change him but he doesn't even recognize Buck sometimes anymore because Buck won't let Eddie in.
I want Buck yelling right back that Eddie's moved on with his life since the shooting, why won't he let Buck do the same after the lightning.
I want angry tears and confessions through gritted teeth. I want everything they've swept under the rug and not talked about to come spilling out in Buck's kitchen.
I want Eddie telling Buck with pain dripping from his voice that "I see you, I've always seen you, but now I don't think I know you anymore. You won't let me know you anymore."
I want Eddie leaving Buck's loft after he says it and tells him that he can still see Christopher, but maybe for now the two of them should just be coworkers because Eddie needs time and space before he can be Buck's best friend because he isn't sure he knows him anymore.
I want Eddie crying in his truck after the conversation and Buck crying on his new couch, clear that he doesn't find it comfortable. I want the episode to end on a shot of both of them crying in their own spaces, so clearly alone.
Then I want the next episode to be so clearly uncomfortable between them. They still work together seamlessly, but that's it. They're awkward and tense around each other, they can't even look at each other between calls. I want it to be 10x more awkward than their first couple shifts together. I want looks exchanged between the members of the 118 when Buck and Eddie aren't looking.
And then I want the episode to end with Eddie pacing around his living room, clearly torn and then grabbing his keys only to open the front door to Buck standing on his doorstep looking at Eddie's house key like he isn't sure he's still allowed to use it.
I want Eddie to hold Buck's face like it's something so fucking special and Buck to do the same. I want a kiss that's biting and angry that melts into something soft and tender.
Cut to them in Eddie's bed, the sheets a mess, the comforter on the ground and Buck says something like "You've always seen me, even the ugly bits that I don't want people to see. That's why I'm so scared"
And then Eddie kisses Buck soft and sweet and says something like, "There's nothing about you that's ugly Buck."
The episode ends with them starting round two.

Hey Buck, could you dip your head and look up at Tommy through your eyelashes a few more times? I don’t think you’ve done it enough.
