( INFORMATION AND EXAMPLES OF EACH GENRE UNDER CUT )
BAGGY !
Artists: Blur, The Stone Roses, The Charlatans, Happy Mondays, Northside
Most popular Era: Late 80s - 90s
Basic definition: Baggy music is a genre that emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s in the UK. It is characterized by its fusion of indie rock, psychedelia, and dance music, creating a unique sound that is both upbeat and dreamy. Baggy music is known for its use of catchy melodies, swirling guitars, and funky basslines, often accompanied by danceable rhythms. The genre's name is derived from the loose, baggy clothing worn by its proponents, reflecting the casual and carefree attitude of the music. Baggy music has been associated with the Madchester scene and bands like The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, and The Charlatans, who helped popularize the genre in the late 80s and early 90s.

The way ppls prejudiced thoughts n beliefs towards the rap genre isnt the only thing that baffles me bout the latest trend on here. But rather its ppl general distaste towards black artists in general. Because for one yes people are stupid as fuck about the rap genre n its history and dismiss it as needless violence n sexual music which is like. Straight up racist. But have ppl on here like. Not been listenin to any black artists? Like at All? Cuz like. It doesnt matter what music you're into there are Absolutely black artists in that genre as well and they are fucking amazing.
Idk its been baffling to me seein posts bout it all lately n like. Rap and hiphop are important genres with extensive history n meaning within the black community. But black artists are influential and prevalent in all genres including whatever the fuck you listen to.

Do you ever finally find the radio station that fits you and its like being transported to another dimension?
(Context: I usually play music from my phone when I drive to and from work, but my car is in the shop and the car I’m driving rn doesn’t have Bluetooth. So I don’t know all my local stations)
Like I’ve been flipping between these two stations that said they were “alternative” and “plays any genre”, and tho that isn’t a lie, they usually just played the same songs over and over again. (Like buddy idk what to tell you but I shouldn’t have had to hear Sweet Home Alabama more than I already have. Please pick something else.)
Anyways decided to try my luck on any other station, most are static of course or I’m too far away cause of where I live. But I finally found one and it’s ran by college students.
When I tell you it was like a breath of fresh air actually hearing other genres and indie artist from a radio station. Like I’m genuinely excited to listen to this station for my commute, at work, or whenever.

my dad has this weird misconception that i don't like pop music or 'old people music' ('old people' meaning his generation. so like early gen x.) which he consistently brings up whenever we discuss music... its like actually i think youre just inventing an entirely different version of me in ur mind because if im being perfectly honest ive been injecting midlife crisis pop directly into my veins for YEARS

im jude, he/him, twenty.
This blog is archived kinda loosely- its mostly just a place to upload what i’m listening to everyday and hopefully expose a few of you to different sounds. My main interest is in twee pop, specifically the late 90’s-early 00’s period, but i’m fairly open to a lot of sounds adjacent to pop, indie, lo-fi and general cuteness. I secondarily hold a lot of love for the ironic twinge of 90’s powerpop and the commercial sweetness of bubblegum. My main wish is that more people would be open to the wide variety of sounds that comes out of pop subcultures! I currently gather most of my music from public sources like youtube, bandcamp, soundcloud, etc, so nothing i post here should be too difficult to find if you’d like to download it for yourself, but just lmk if you want to know where to find something ^_^

I wish there was a way you could put like. every song in the world on shuffle
#spotify playlists made for you are not enough#bc they're based on music i already like and i don't Wanna Hear Music I Already Like#god i need a hyperfixation that is Stable and also New (not a revival of one I've had since I was 16)#bc they introduce me to music i wouldn't have even thought of ever going near#not to compare everything to the highs of my tflu obsession but like?#that introduced me to So Much Music (some related. some not)#i probably listened to more genres in 2022 than i have ever listened to in my life#but idk. i could just listen to some random genre i have no interest in but what would be the point?#there needs to be a sort of 'hilda would've liked this in the 40s' 'this reminds me of swagtre' 'this is literally the plot of nddp' etc#sort of connection#but all i have right now is the endless cycling continuation of the south park obsession i had in 2016. which makes it very easy to just#listened to the music i listened to back then#also it's like. I've seen everything in that fandom there's nothing new i can really get out of it?#it's more just a mix of nostalgia and it's like. easy to get into bc idk. a lot of characters and storylines so you don't get bored in one#place for so long. almost the perfect obsession if it wasn't literally South Park#but surely i can just type in a character's name on spotify and find new music that way?#hahaha No#bc every single sp playlist I've looked through only seems to use like the same 10 songs. and i don't really like any of them#also 'he would not fucking say that' except it's 'he would not fucking listen to that'#most of the time. idk#i need new Vibes that's the problem#there's always a new vibe going on at all times but it seems to have stopped around the start of this year#maybe i just need a job. once i have a job there'll be a location i go to regularly. and I'll have to travel there in some way. and that#will be a new experience. and there'll be new vibes#I'll probably stumble across a new hyperfixation in the process. and then find new music from it#but for now everything is so stagnant and all i really listen to is 80s/90s indie pop and then just music i've listened to since I was 14#i can't even ask for recommendations bc even if i like a song it has nothing to stick to in my brain#i'll be like ''this is a cool song i like it'' and listen to it on repeat and then go off it like a day later#oh fuck tag limit#ramble
