{How Kix Falls Asleep & What That Says About Him}
Tumblr media
Program: Just how he falls asleep when he's deployed and when he has the luxury of being at home in your arms. Where feels safe and loved.
Pairing: Kix x GN! Reader
Genre: Fluff
Camp Resolute Masterlist
Camper Tags: @staygoldwriting
Tumblr media
Kix gets very quiet when he begins to feel the weight of fatigue settle over him
To the point where his brothers are extremely careful not be too loud as the medic gets ready for bed
One time Hardcase slapped Kix's shoulder at the end of a successful mercy mission when Kix was beginning to feel dizzy and teeter into bed, and Kix shot him a look that froze his brother to the core in fear
Frequently has body aches and headaches when he pulls himself to bed
He's the type to not really feel tired or need that much sleep until it hits him all at once, and it typically happens after a delicate procedure he had to do on a patient, if all the battles have caught up to him, or if he loses a life trying to save them
Kix keeps a little stash of feel good snacks and items to help him take care of himself as the last rays of daylight fade away
He throws himself into his work to the point where he often catches himself realizing he hasn't had water in over a day or his brother's note how distracted he seems because he hasn't eaten that day
So he has a small basket tucked on the corner of his cot with electrolyte drinks, cough drops, sweet cookies, heat & ice packs, and a book that you annotated for him
Builds a pillow and blanket mound to ease his body onto, but he curls onto his side to drift of to sleep on better days
Kix absolutely adores when the two of you can spend the night together, because he knows he drop everything and melt into your care and love
Always just a few steps away from you, because he just feels so drawn to your calming energy regardless of if you're laughing hysterically from sharing stories or cooking dinner together to music on the background
He tucks you into him when you slip into bed, and he holds you close as the big spoon
Presses his face into the back of your neck and lightly thumps his head a couple of times to give you lil keldabe kisses
His soft mumbles tickle your skin
Quiet whispers breathe across the shell of your ear
Chuckles harmonizes between your chests as the city buzzes past the closed curtains
Your breathing slows down as the night sky deepens
After particularly draining and difficult missions, he may ask for a small message or if you could rub an achy muscle
He needs you to push away the weight of war that has made its home in his body and soul
Kix always makes sure both of you have water and any medications already prepped on the night tables
He doesn't want you forget to take care of yourself as you care for him
Loves to pepper your body with lazy kisses
He'll even stop to speak a loving affirmation or compliment into your skin as he looks at you with the most devoted expression
-> As Kix takes care of everyone, he looks for relief once the sun sets. -> He finds himself becoming absorbed by his work or by missions, and even the lingering guilt of loss. -> When the two of you unite, everything disappears as he's able to be in the moment with you. -> When Kix is ready to give up and give into the overwhelming numbness of battle, he remembers how free he feels by your side.

clone headcanons (affection)🤭
- crosshair & fives 100% do that thing that drives me INSANE where they put one arm on the wall next to your head and then use the other to tilt your chin up with one finger so you can look him in the eye AHHHHH😫
Fives looks down at you with a small grin on his face before taking his finger and tilting your chin up, making you look him in the eye.
“I didn’t take you for the blushing type, mesh’la.”
- wrecker LOVES to pick you up and spin you around whenever he sees you, no matter how long y’all were apart. (i need this😭)
As soon as you lay eyes on wrecker, he gives you a big smile and wraps his arms around you. A giggle escapes your lips as he twirls you in the air.
You kiss his cheek, “I was only gone for a day.”
He places a gentle kiss on your forehead, “I know mesh’la, but I missed you anyway.”
- rex is a GENTLEMEN☝🏻 the way he shows affection is TOP TIER and it’s making me giggle and scream just thinking about it
Getting a moment alone with the captain was not an easy feat, but you two finally found a quiet moment together in an empty hallway.
His hand gently moves your hair out of your face, “You look beautiful, cyare.”
You give him a soft smile and cover his hand with your own, to which he holds and brings to his face, placing a gentle kiss on your knuckles.
You look at him like he’s the only other person in the galaxy, “Well aren’t you a gentleman.”
Rex lets out a small laugh before kissing your palm, “For you mesh’la, I find myself doing whatever it takes to see your pretty face blush.”

Clone Wars Headcannons
All over the place but yeah enjoy
Ahsoka will let her men test out pick up lines before shore leave and give them tips on how to better pick up girls
Ahsoka picked up her eye rolling habit from Wolffe
Fives and Echo refer to Rex as “oh captain my captain” (Rex is very annoyed)
Clone troopers sleep better when they cuddle up with someone
Anakin has given Ahsoka and many of his men heart attacks when he randomly removes his prosthetic hand
There are painted line of the Resolutes floor near the medical bays to mark how far troopers have made it when they attempt to escape the medics
This usually ends with the medics full body tackling their vod and occasionally their Jedi
Hardcase has the furthest mark with Fives very near behind him
Much to Wolffe’s dismay young animals love to imprint of him during campaigns, he says he hates it but Sinker once saw Wolffe carrying around a baby loth cat wrapped in one of his blankets
Rex is a natural blonde due to a mutation and I will die on this hill
Fox and Wolffe have the highest spice tolerance of their batch and their brothers are very concerned for them
Based on the scene in the Umbara arc where Tup is hanging onto the gunship handle with 2 hands, he is a very nervous flier
Ahsoka noticed that Tup was a nervous flier and now tries to get on the same ships as him to help keep him calm
The 501st has different tallies up throughout the barracks for random things like ‘how many times the general loses his lightsaber’, ‘best quotes for the week’, etc
Clone troopers speak mando’a, kaminoan, and basic fluently
Rex always wins arm wrestling contests, even against Anakin
Ahsoka learned how to play sabacc from the Wolf Pack and has been banned from playing in most 501st circles because she always wins
The CCs have the ability to sleep with their eyes open and Wolffe and Fox actively chose to do so to creep everyone else out
Cody has broken his wrists and his shins from fist fighting droids but he continues to do it
Many troopers in the 501st have also attempted to fist fight droids but quickly stopped when the medics refused to treat them
Anakin has also attempted to fist fight droids and damaged his cybernetic hand enough that he had to get a new one
Ahsoka purrs when she sleeps close to other people
Hardcase almost cried when he first heard Ahsoka purr because he thought it was cutest damn thing
Capture the flag is the 501st’s favorite down time activity
Cody has hidden drugs in Obi-Wan’s tea to make him sleep which Obi-Wan was rather offended by but continued to accept all tea given to him by his commander
Ahsoka set up a projector in the rec room and on hyper space trips she plays holomovies so her men can be ‘cultured’
Ahsoka is good friends with Padme and Riyo Chuchi and regularly gets together with them for girls nights
Rex has gotten a tattoo while drunk but Cody is the only one that knows about it
Ahsoka found out when her men’s birthday or decanting days are and makes sure to wish them a happy birthday
Ponds, Bly, and Fox were very confused when they received a transmission from Rex, Cody, and Wolffe’s vod’ika wishing them a happy birthday

I want the affection.
The brotherly 'you are an idiot but our idiot' kiss on the temple in the quiet of the bunks or in the shadows of the LAAT to remind them they are not machines and they care.
The 'wonderful Job cadet.' kiss on the top of their head from Shaak-Ti in the early stages of the war when she was not privy (or did not want to see) the devastation her boys would suffer and then they would brag about it to their batch afterwards.
The Keldabe kiss that shakes the helmet but just enough to get that trooper moving from a hot zone.
A subtle brush of hands in prep of a mission.
'I saved you the good slop' kind of thought in the commissary.
The quiet understanding and agreement to allow for a nightlight near one of their bunks even though it disturbs them as they sleep because everyone needs comfort.
Affection in its smallest because they are brothers.

Singing clones, ladies and gents
Did you guys know Temuera Morrison has recorded a cover album ? It's called Tem and it's on Youtube and I absolutely love it, his voice is so warm, and it's my go-to album when I want to chill or when I am ironing (don't ask)
And now I can't help picturing the 501st around a campfire, and they've either found or made a guitar of sorts, and they're just making up songs as they go and everyone sings along
Then one night the 212th is here too and Cody sings every single love song there is to Oblivious Obi-Wan Kenobi
Like he sings Can't take my eyes off of you while staring him dead in the eye until even Anakin Are-you-an-Angel Skywalker makes retching sounds in the background and at the end Obi-Wan just claps and goes "My dear Commander, I never knew you were such a poet" and everyone facepalms, Cody included
Of course the Bad Batch then starts a rock band with Hunter's suave vocals
And, I mean
Tech on the drums

Hardcase: Dooku is a vampire
Jesse: how?
Hardcase: THINK!!! Count Dooku…
Jesse: 👁️👄👁️ Count Dracula 🧛‍♂️
Rex on their next mission: can someone please explain why you are all wearing garlic?
Kix: simple safety precaution, Sir.

Rex being more serious / by-the-book than Cody makes more sense to me. The way I see it, Cody's effort to turn his battalion into a loyal, no-nonsense, well-oiled machine works extremely well, so while he is still pretty serious, he and his men can joke around and "goof off" a bit more in somewhat relaxed settings because he knows they're all good enough to afford it. Rex, on the other hand, has Anakin also leading his battalion, which is pretty self-explanatory. He is in many situations where he has to improvise a lot and be more lax on rules, and i'd love to go into detail, but he generally has to operate on "it depends" 90% of the time. His seriousness can be used to balance out his battalion and General's behavior and personalities when necessary, like sticking to makeshift rules for particularly dangerous moments, and for static rules that offer a lot of freedom but keep his men alive (e.g., allowing troopers to suddenly steal an enemy tank without permission, but they are required to tell him & do xyz beforehand if they don't want to be killed).

Fives headcanons Pt. 1
Makes a point of learning how to say simple phrases in a few different languages native to the places he visits as a soldier. He finds that the native civilizations usually take more kindly to someone who isn't barking at them in a foreign, confusing tongue. "Hello," "thank you," and "we are here to offer help," are a few he tries to memorize as they travel through hyperspace. Fives isn't motivated by anything other than making the civilians more comfortable... But when he's given fruit or flowers as thanks for his friendliness, he makes sure his brothers get a clear view of the gifts. "See, diplomacy does pay off, Hardcase." (He receives a scoff and an envious glares in return.)
Back on Kamino, Shaak Ti had instilled in him that his brothers were there for him, and he had a duty to reciprocate that. As time went, it became less his duty and more his heart's desire. It made him feel nauseous when he heard a raucous laugh fall from Echo's or Kix's lips, mostly because it was his own laughter amplified and externally sourced. He remembers the first time going to 79s with some of the 501st, not long after Rishi Moon; Rex had introduced him to some of his men, and it had been one of the first times since he'd been on Kamino that he'd felt completely safe. Looking around, it was rare to meet eyes with anyone's who weren't his own, and kriff, the laughter. It had filled him with such a sense of belonging that he'd had to go cry in the fresher, just for a moment. When he'd returned to the group, Echo had given him a knowing look – eyes gentle as always, the inkling of a smile on his lips; he'd felt it too. After everything with Domino Squad, Fives was reluctant to build from the rubble of his past, but he found it was more agonizing to cut himself off from their unconditional love.
Fascinated by braids. The first time he saw them, ever, was on a desert planet they had been stationed on for months during the war. This planet couldn't have been further from his water-covered homeworld, the people included. Their complexions ranged from a deep-copper red to a blue that was nearly purple in hue, and their hair was sculpted into intricate braids that he never stopped admiring for as long as they were there. After several weeks of hesitating, he finally asked if he could learn the community's art form. He had been afraid of rejection, and bade his breath as he awaited the Elderwoman's decision whether or not to let this strange man into their traditions. He knew this was something the people of this world held dearly, and he was prepared to take no as his answer. Watching would suffice. However, when the Elderwoman sent for himself and Tup, he allowed himself some hope. Entering her clay fortress had been even more wonderful than he'd imagined; breads and meat were offered to them, and Tup, for once, could admit that Fives was quite the diplomat. Meeting the Elderwoman face-to-face was comparable, he felt, to being in the presence of Shaak Ti – she was a master with plenty to teach to those she deemed worthy of the knowledge. Her hair had been down, rather than up in one of the various styles he'd seen her wearing from afar; the texture of her hair created a halo around her, and Fives had been in utter awe. He and Tup had been instructed to sit and watch as the Elder's handmaidens wove her hair, slowly, carefully, into the desired shapes and patterns. Although they were not allowed to touch, Fives learned through observation how these sculptures that had caught his eye since the beginning were created. As they'd watched, he practically begged Tup to take his hair down so that he might practice a simpler technique they were being shown, and Tup would never admit that he'd dozed off several times under his brother's diligent touch.
As much as he enjoys making his brothers a little jealous, Fives is such a softy for each and every one of them. He will go off and pick flowers for them, and he'll make sure to weave a crown or necklace for Rex to wear. I can imagine them all sweeping through a field of tall grass, and Fives is in the middle of everything.. collecting flowers for his brothers to wear and smell. They'd all have their favorite spot in their armor for their flower to be kept, of course.

SW Headcannons
The first time Rex has real, good coffee, he starts crying (happy tears). All the coffee on the ship slowly starts disappearing, and the next day Ahsoka finds him in a storage closet, surrounded by a mountain of coffee rations. She promises not to tell, as long as he shares. They make a pinky-promise on it (because that is totally something the clones would do, no I am not taking questions).
The first close call, though, came when Cody was making a routine inspection on the ship. He passed right by, but with his mom-friend powers he 'sensed' something wrong with one of the storage spaces. Rex has to subtly comm Ahsoka, who's busy with Jedi stuff. He must use the last resort. Fives answers immediately, and doesn't question why his captain wants him to blow something up. It works, and Cody bolts out to find out where the fire came from.
Unfortunately, though, Fives gets curious, and the secret eventually spreads to the entire 501st. Most of them find it amusing, but don't particularly care. But there's a few, like Jesse and Hardcase, who take it to heart. Other battalions begin to notice their coffee rations are disappearing. Nobody ever catches the 501st, because although they're often a hot mess, those boys are terrifying when united for a cause.
Soon, the 501st has turned into an unstoppable menace due to the unhealthy amount of caffeine they're drinking.
The one brother who can never know, though, is Kix. The vod even have to avoid drinking too much before their check-ins, as he might get suspicious about the crazy amounts of caffeine in their bodies. Despite their terrible lying skills, he never finds out. He might even steal from the stash on particularly late shifts (they'll never ask, because Kix is scary. Don't mess with the medic).
They're so overcaffinated that nobody questions it when Fives and Ahsoka disappear for a few days, and Palpatine mysteriously dies. Everybody lives happily ever after, and Senator Amidala makes sure that the clones all get extra coffee rations (Ahsoka too, because she couldn't escape her crazy brother's antics).

i have a headcannon that Fives is not a winter/cold weather person
anytime he was sent to Hoth or cold wearher planet, he would be grumbling, clipped sentences, and taking deep breaths to keep a grip on his nerves. the man can barely keep his balance on a pair of sleeters (skis).
whenever someone points it out, he shoots them a little glare that also has a hint of anxiey rippling in his deep umber eyes.
the confident ARC trooper who always seems so sure of himself no matter what planet he steps onto, shakes in his boots when the freezing tundra is announced as their destination during the brief. his winter jacket sits heavy on his shoulders. the standard winter weather uniform neck wrap slithers and constricts against his airway. even though his uniform is soaked with sweat, Fives finds himself rubbing his arms or breathing into his hands to find some semblance of warmth.
Fives cannot feel relaxed or clear minded until the gunship doors close infront of him and the battilion is taking off to rejoin the Resolute. he’d much rather catch a glimpse of the spine chilling, frosty planets from the safety of the spaceship’s ops deck. even then- a wary look flashes across his face before it’s swept away by his usual candid, bravado.
and if any shiny so much as thinks about making a comment or jest, the 501st are already locking eyes and challenging them to see what happens if those words leave their lips.

Linkin Park – Battle Symphony
'I hear my battle symphony,
All the world in front of me.
If my armor breaks –
I'll fuse it back together.'
Tumblr media
— Rex has been afraid of the dark since childhood. It is also known that Rex is afraid for each of the brothers. The mission to Umbara was the captain's worst nightmare.
— Rex is obviously the best pillow in GAR. Seriously. Someone falls asleep on him all the time. From Echo to Ahsoka and Anakin. Anyone, anytime.
— Rex won't move until they're awake and will silently threaten anyone who dares to make a noise with his blaster.
— Rex is always, ALWAYS ready to support his soldiers (unless they come up with another stupidity), regardless of the time of day. It often happened that he stayed in the evening until all the guys from the 501st were asleep, since many of them were disturbed by nightmares and obsessive thoughts. While waiting, he often fell asleep with them.
— And if he didn’t fall asleep, then one of them would definitely come to him later. Kisses on the forehead at night, of course, were used by the captain.
— Rex is just crazy about music. Most of the songs on his playlist were shown to him by Ahsoka.
— Unlike Echo, who sleeps curled up in a ball (like this is called in the fetal position), Rex can take up the entire bed with his body without any problems.
— It never gets in the way of Fives and Echo. They most often come to sleep with him.
— 'Captain Rex loves his personal space. Fives and Echo love captain Rex's personal space too.'
— More often than not, they don't seem to do it because they're anxious. They know that Rex can be anxious at any moment. If that happens, they will be his only support.
— Rex is prone to panic attacks and the kaminoans know this (and of course they look askance at him, why not throw him away?). And although they rarely happen lately he still tries to stay close to someone who could help him.
— When Echo returned, Rex spent almost every evening he was in medbay with him. He sang their favorite songs to him. He liked to watch how Echo 'comes to life' at such moments (sometimes he even smiled).
— Rex is a big fan of those nights when you can get together with your brothers, get a bottle of something with alcohol and watch some stupid holofilm together. He doesn't need to go somewhere to enjoy the time spent together.
— Probably, just because of this, Rex has long lost the authority of a strict captain. But the soldiers already respect him enough to stand on the line at the right time.
— And he just loves them immensely.

I have a silly headcanon that the Wolfpack does a thing where every time one of them enters 79’s, they howl, and any other 104th members present in the club howl back. Other battalions find this varying levels of amusing or obnoxious but nobody else (not that many actually try) can howl and get a response—except for the 501st's Echo, who figures out that there’s a trick to it.
Addendum to this is that 104th shinies are encouraged to come up with their own personal howls as part of bonding with the battalion.
Second addendum to this is that howling has also been used as both a rallying cry and an intimidation tactic in battle.

Karaoke night at 79s with the 501st
Rex: He refuses to sing, full stop. Several shots of tihaar and he’s still obstinate. All forms of bribery, offers of credits and manual labor, don’t budge him. Fives tries to pull him by the arm and ends up flat on the floor. Only after a pretty Twi’lek joins in does he relent; not because he wants to impress, but he can’t refuse a polite, curious woman. He favors something mid tempo, a steady beat that he can change his pace with. He starts soft and ends big on a note just above his range. He knows it’s not his best, but he thinks if he hams it up now, his men won’t force him to sing again.
Jesse: He needs two draughts of beer before he’s ready. He goes with something peppy and familiar, a current hit that everyone knows and can sing along to. His tenor is serviceable, but he’s not satisfied with it, thinks he needs more practice and instruction. He hopes getting others to sing with him will cover up his faults, but he ends up making the room more rowdy. They prod him to keep singing, and he obliges, but his voice is hoarse by the end of the third song. He sits at a table and hums along the rest of the night.
Hardcase: He’s the first to the mic stand, unprompted and fully sober. He picks a rock song, something he can more yell than sing. He’s tone deaf and knows it, but like Jesse, he enjoys working the crowd. At least his dancing - or rather, flailing - is entertaining. He’s up at the mic several times throughout the night, his voice rapidly turning rough, before his brothers have to take turns restraining him. Surprisingly, only beer keeps him seated at the bar for the rest of the night. He loudly cheers on whoever’s singing.
Tup: He accidentally mixes his drinks working up the courage to sing, switching between beer and brandy and something stronger than both. He’s teetering on the edge between drunk and hungover, but his brothers don’t notice. He knows he won’t last before his stomach betrays him, so he plows through a short, uptempo song before heading to the fresher. Kix follows behind and orders him water for the rest of the night.
Dogma: He wants to sing, to have fun like his friends, and thinks some liquid courage will help. Unlike Tup, he sticks to the same cocktail, but ends up drinking too much and gets too sick to sing. Kix sits him next to Tup at a booth far from the stage, with a pitcher of water and a plate of food between them.
Kix: He’s up at the mic early, sometime soon after Hardcase. He knows he needs to be available to those who are using the bar to self-soothe. He holds a glass of something brown on the rocks while crooning something smooth and jazzy. He’s a baritone and sings well, not a surprise to those who’ve been under his care and become unwitting audience to his absentminded humming. He sings in place of every other brother too drunk to make it to the mic stand.
Fives: He shares a drink with the men before going to the mic. He tries to coax Echo into a duet, but the other Domino won’t budge. He picks a ballad, something he can use to show off his range. He thinks he sings well, and he stays on key for the most part, but Rex and Kix wince when his voice cracks during the bridge; he likes to push himself. He serenades the women closest to the stage, taking their hands at turns, much to the ire of their dates. He takes a big bow to big applause at the end. He’ll likely finish the night with the last song, the rest of his brothers too tired or far gone to continue after midnight.
Echo: He blushes at the sight of the stage. Fives elbows him throughout the night, thinking he won’t sing, but during a rare silent moment, as Kix adds another brother to the designated booth, he goes up unbidden. He picks a song that starts slow and ends uptempo. Fives’s jaw is on the floor while Rex and Kix share a knowing wink: the captain and the medic had been working to ease Echo out of his shell and found music to be the key. True to his name, he sounds like a pro, almost like the original singer of the song.
