Cassian meeting K2 immediately after losing Bix is absolutely sending me like it’s giving the droid equivalent of a rebound turned ride or die what an editing choice I love it

Friendly reminder that this is not the first time that blasters have gone off in the Senate nor the building put under lockdown and that this was a regular occurrence during the Clone Wars lol
#watching Mando taught me that the SW fandom is deeply fragmented in their viewing parties lol#andor#andor spoilers#star wars#the clone wars#*#text

Tbh stormtroopers never looked more menacing than they did on those plaza steps and that’s all they were ever really good for, just a superficial show of force and not any kind of effective control.

Decades of Outer Rim deprivation and stormtroopers on patrol and cruisers blowing up planets, but destabilizing a region enough to send an armed response so the feds can seize control of its resources is the most imperial the Empire has ever looked and “they don’t even bother to lie badly anymore” is just perfection I mean George Lucas may have taken inspiration from the Vietnam War but Tony fucking Gilroy brought the rest of post-WWII conflicts into Star Wars where it should always have been KUDOS LEGEND 👏🏽👏🏽

Interesting! Like the Andor version of the Imperial March lol something wicked this way comes!
I’m also getting the sense that they’re using the song to connect Cassian and Mon Mothma before they meet 👀 paralleling their respective sacrifices
Have we talked about how the song Mon Mothma dances to is a remix of the song from the brothel Cassian visits in season 1 episode 1? How it’s the same name of the planet where Cassian tried to lay low after Aldhani but was arrested on false charges? How both the song and planet seem to be associated with pleasure but end up meaning something else to people who can’t afford it? How “niamos,” if Google Translate is correct, means “feelings” in Lithuanian and how both song and planet are used to numb feelings? HAVE WE????
#👆🏽👆🏽#I’d have to rewatch s1 to catch the Coruscant lounge remix#but my guess is it’s prob a scene with Mon Mothma#andor#text

Mon Mothma pounding down drinks and white girl dancing to space EDM has to be one of the realest moments in a Star War because yes, there’s the serious politics of juxtaposing the lavish wedding ceremony and secret deal-making on Chandrila with the struggling farms and abuses of power on Mina-Rau, wealth and privilege vs. working class struggles, but also sometimes it be Like That, sometimes you gotta dissociate for awhile and lose yourself to mindless music or you’d lose your mind from the weight of Everything.
#andor#andor spoilers#mon mothma#star wars#*#text#someone else described it as ‘desensitization to tragedy’ but I think that’s a bit glib#pop music isn’t a cause it’s a symptom#I always think of 80s synth coinciding with Reaganism and the AIDS crisis#people needing release and distractions doesn’t mean the serious work of revolution can’t be done#even a backwater planet like tatooine had the max reebo band lol#music is life it’s everywhere it’s not exclusive to the privileged

As much as I appreciate Andor naming rape when it happens and not glossing over the sexual violence that undocumented women face, I also kinda hate that the show was allowed to do that after Maarva’s final line was changed from “fuck the Empire” to “fight the Empire.” Once again, American censorship is like, “You can show women getting assaulted, but they can’t curse.”

Andor has done more for female empowerment than the whole of SW canon bc between Mon Mothma and her husband, Leida and her new husband, and Dedra and Syril, the ladies are either shown or said to be the leader of the couple and let’s of course not forget the mothers, Maarva who sparked a riot at her own funeral and Eedy who’s headstrong in her own way, and the space lesbians Vel and Cinta who can successfully operate independently of each other and men, and even Talia who harbored Brasso and Bix who herself survived torture and was half of the first implied sex scene in SW history, and they all actively exercise agency in their own stories and none of them are without faults like thank you Tony Gilroy for a wide spectrum of women!

The TIE Avenger being able to withstand so many hits while the average TIE fighter crumples like a paper plane is actually a perfect encapsulation of the imperial mindset like yes we have the technology but it’s too fucking expensive so let’s go with what’s easy instead of what’s best 🤭
#I don’t just mean the SW Empire btw#imperial is lowercase for a reason 😉#how many stealth jets were retired by the usaf bc they were too fucking expensive lolol#star wars#andor#andor spoilers#*#text#this also relates to the change from clone troopers to stormtroopers

I love how deeply entrenched Andor is in the nitty gritty of politics, not just in the way the characters openly acknowledge the disparity between the Inner and Outer Rims, between the senators playing games in their lavish homes and the rebels suffering on the frontlines in the jungles, but even down to the editing like the crosscutting between Bix fighting the Imp and Mon Mothma at the reception could not have more clearly illustrated how far apart the members of the same cause could be I mean whole scenes in season 1 would play out between Coruscant and the rebels, but to splice together such disparate scenes to emphasize the stakes and struggles on either side is truly big brain shit 👏🏽👏🏽

As much as I love watching more than one episode at a time and I understand the logic of grouping the releases by time jumps, I still think Andor is a show that would absolutely benefit from having only one episode a week bc each hour is so fucking dense I feel like I need a whole damn month just to process those first three like I appreciate being fed and well-fed at that but this is bordering on gluttony lolol this is not the kind of binge watching I want to do when the writing is so good I want to savor this masterpiece not inhale it in chunks 😭
