Book 24 of the 50 book challenge. I reread Solitaire by Alice Oseman. I reread it mainly because I wasnā€™t paying enough attention the first time. Itā€™s from Toriā€™s perspective and we meet Michael right after Charlie returned from the hospital in patient stay for his anorexia. Also we see Toriā€™s perspective of Charlieā€™s blip when he self harms after returning from inpatient. Also you get Toriā€™s issues, with depression and sadness. Itā€™s really good.

New book I'll have to study for an exam and my messy desk.
14|02|2025
When I work on materials for exams I usually read and underline first and then after I am done with the article or a chapter of the book I turn whatever I have underlined into notes. For various reasons at the moment I am reading and writing down notes right away, so I feel like I am doing no progress at all. I know I am actually making a lot of progress because I am doing two tasks at the same time, resulting in slower progress but less steps towards finishing. But still my brain tells me I am taking so much time to do so little. I hate this. Despite my brain trying to trick me I am happy with my choice of working on the documents first and keeping the recorded lectures for the very end. I feel like this is the smartest way to approach this class, in order to maximise my time. Hopefully tomorrow morning I'll be able to finish working on the second chapter of my materials so that next week I can start off fresh. I should also figure out a way to keep up with the materials for the other class I am currently taking, but the real priority is the stuff I am working on by myself at home, since the exam is quite close. I am still figuring things out as you can see, but I am hopeful.
5/50 days of productivity:
read in the morning
finished reading and writing notes for the first article for my spaces of knowledge class
started working on the second article

I find something very extraordinary in romanticizing my everyday life. There is so much inspiration to be found in creating beauty from the mundane.

One Dress a Day Challenge
Anything Goes December
Bell, Book and Candle / Kim Novak as Gillian Holroyd
This reversible leopard-print cape is not only attractive, but symbolic. It's the first article of clothing we see Gillian wear that isn't black or red, and it appears right after she decides to accept Shep's proposal of marriage. It first appears with the leopard side out, over a brilliant red base, when she finds out her brother has been collaborating on a book that threatens to expose New York's magical community. Later, we see it with the leopard side in, over a black dress and hood, when she decides to tell Shep the truth. After that, her clothes return to black and red until the very last scene, when she appears in springy pastels.
The costume designer for this movie was Jean Louis (Berthault), who also designed Gilda and won an Academy award for The Solid Gold Cadillac.

If you're looking to read a new sci-fi book, I would highly suggest The Last Gifts of the Universe by Riley August. I have no idea if the writer has played Mass Effect but there are some elements in it that strongly remind me of the game - caches with information left by dead civilizations are mainly what it's all about and we don't know why those civilizations are dead.
Some parts of it made me go "uh?" but the story and the characters really make up for it. It's really beautiful and very touching.

Book 23 of the 50 book challenge. I reread Heartstopper vol 4 by Alice Oseman. Itā€™s the book where Nick and Charlie deal with Charlieā€™s mental illness, going to the beach, saying I love you, coming out to Nickā€™s dad and Oliver meeting the dogs. Itā€™s such a good story.

26/50 days of productivity
Today was my first day reviewing for my second protohistory exam. I struggled to focus I will be honest. Even though I am pretty comfortable with most of the materials (there's a couple of more specific things I will definitely have to review a bit more) I just struggled to stay on the page. My mind keeps wandering. I am really tired and it's starting to show. I can't wait for this to be over, so that I'll be able to take a few days off. I still plan to study for a few weeks after my exam, even though I won't be taking the third one I had planned for July. I realized that the materials are just too many for me to finish working on it in time, so I'll take that in September. I still want to get all the work done in advance so that in September I'll only have to review it. But before all of this I will definitely reward myself with a couple of days off to recharge. I am so tired I can't even read my book during the day, because I simply don't have enough energy to focus on that. I wish I had new yarn to work on a new crochet project, because it would be the perfect hobby to fill my free time at the moment, but I haven't found the time to go buy it yet.
Productivity:
first complete protohistory review (which means I reread my notes, the ppts the professor used during his lectures and my notes and ppt for the presentation I did in class)
set up my bullet journal for next week (I am using super minimal weekly spreads atm and to be honest it's good enough)
set up my reading journal for June (did a very minimal cover page and monthly set up cause my energies are loooow)
practiced Irish on duolingo
continued listening to old episodes of the books unbound podcast
Self care:
read first thing in the morning

Elizabeth Forbes-Sempill (1912-91) was registered as the youngest daughter of John, Lord Sempill, and was unhappy as a girl, taking a course of medical treatments in Germany and registering as a man, Ewan Forbes-Sempill, in 1952 and marrying a woman. His new identity was challenged by his cousin who was disappointed at the loss of his inheritance to a large estate and loss of title of the 11th Baronet on the arrival of Ewan Forbes-Sempill ā€“ a new male heir. The legal challenge took place in secret over three years until the home secretary ruled that Forbes-Sempill was 'intersex' and entitled to inherit as a male heir.
