love how anthony basically said he doesn't have an iphone face. it's funny because i've seen people describe the mota main cast as dudes who look like they would ghost you on bumble which is funny but i think casting did pretty well (even if they don't look like their real life counterparts), what do you think?

as far as looking like their real-life counterparts, the cast ranges from Very Similar to That's A Whole Different Guy. when it comes to the main cast, raff law as ken lemmons and callum turner as bucky egan are close to the "Very Similar" end of this hbo war spectrum (tho no one's ever gonna be as Dead On as ron livingston's lewis nixon imo). on the other hand, the real life harry crosby was quite fair-haired (probably dark blond/light brunet) while anthony boyle is very much Not That.

also, iphone face is soooo subjective imo. i worked in an archive over the summer, handling old photographs ranging from the 1890s to the 1940s, and you wouldn't Believe how many people back then have that stereotypical "iphone face". to the point where they sometimes look out of place lol. (see: robert deniro as a kid). or, i'd see people who don't necessarily look "out of place", but they looked familiar enough that they'd probably blend right in today. so, to me, a lot of the cast members (barring more obvious outliers) blend in well enough. to me, at least!

SLIM & STEVE - blurb

synopsis: a romantic moment sometime in the 60s in nyc

1965, New York City

The sun was slowly setting over New York City, casting the city into a orangey light. A few people already turned on their lights, some closed their curtains. In the room where he lead me, the soft sound of the record player could be heard. It was an Elvis Presley vinyl, I could tell from the deep smooth voice singing the lyrics of his song 'love me'

"Treat me like a fool, treat me mean and cruel"

No wonder, the man was popular at these times and every woman was dreaming about having a chance or even a tiny fling with the charming singer. 'Steve', as I always called him, which wasn't his real name, pours the crimson colored wine into two glasses.

I called him 'Steve', he called me 'Slim' a reminder to his favorite war romance movie : 'To have and Have not' from the year 1944, an old classic. He insisted on the nicknames, as he sees himself as the older Humphrey and I'd be his beautiful, young Lauren. And in fact he was, a lot more older than me, so it suited. Steve and Slim with a twenty five year old age difference, which may or may not seemed peculiar to others, but it was just right for us, what we needed and that was the only thing that mattered.

I watch him turn around again with the glasses in his hand, offering me one. "1962's Chateau Margaux, my slim." I take the glass out of his hand smiling and have a small sip. The tarty and almost sour liquid runs down my throat and I savor the taste. The way he calls me 'slim' or 'my slim' ignites a fire inside me. A fire that desperately searches for touch, desires and unspoken feelings within that fire, that cannot be extinguished. The way the word would roll of his tongue so smoothly and easily would send chills through my body.

Elvis was still singing his lovely words in the background, the sound of the music now suddenly clearer to me. The room was dimly lit, which made the atmosphere more pleasant and relaxing. Also the orange sun light which slightly shines through the big windows of his Apartment added another push to the atmosphere.

With my black pumps slowly leaving clicking sounds on the floor, I carry myself to the big window. The apartment was up high, the view amazing, just as I had imagined it. I recognize him taking slow steps towards me, before I feel a hand on my hip.

He stands beside me glancing out of the window with a small smile creeping up to his lips, his arm wrapped around the waist of 'his slim' softly caressing my side, and moving his hand to the small of my back a few moments later. The situation romantic, sending jolts of desire through my body.

My gaze slowly strides up to his face. I notice a few wrinkles on his face, small scars you could only see, by standing close enough to him and the slight grey hairs of his stubble. All these remarks radiating the years of experience, wisdom and pure masculinity. He brings the wine glass up to take a sip, but before he does, he looks down at me, noticing my stare.

"Are okay, slim? Do you feel uncomfortable?" He asks with a guilty tone etched to his voice, and slowly removes his hand from my back.

I shake my head.

"I could've never been happier, Steve." I mumble, watching his lips curling up again and his hand finding its place on my waist, this time tighter. Holding me close as if he wants to protect 'his slim' from all the dangers and threats in the world.

makes me wonder why I even deserve to be loved by this man.
