아직도 4월 일기를 쓰고 있다. 그래도 많이 따라잡지 않았나 싶다. 꼭 실적보고서를 내고 우리 부모님과 동생과 함께 그녀는 밥을 먹는 행사(?)가 생겼다.

벌써 3년째인데, 어서 결혼을 해야지 라는 생각뿐이다.

우리 부모님은 별말씀을 안 하신다. 아버지가 좀 푼수같이 이런저런 이야기 하시는 거 빼고.

오랜만에 아웃백을 갔었다. 투움바 새우가 작아진 걸 깨닳았다. 그리고 별다방 별다방점을 가봤었다. 실내에 LED가 계속 배경을 바꿔주니까 계속 다른 공간에 있는 느낌이 들었다.

판교에서 맥도날드가서 버거를 먹었다. 신기하게 맥도날드는 저렴하다고 버거 2개 먹게 되는데 그러면 와퍼 가격을 넘게되는 마법을 보여준다.

요즘은 무더워서 그런지 야근도 못하겠고 술도 못마시겠다. 그냥 집에가서 자기 바쁜데 그렇게 자도 몸이 피곤하다. 나이를 먹은 게 분명히 느껴진다. 아직 이룬 것도 없는데 육체만 중년이 된 거 같아서 부쩍 슬퍼진다.

This is insane! A couple, David & Yuge Bromley of Bromley & Co., turned an 1861 jail in Castlemaine, Vic, Australia into an estate. It's completely filled with their magnificent art collection (The diverse collection, also available for sale, spans 40 years, including Egyptian artefacts, Japanese ceramics, mid-century furniture, and over 100 artists' works). It has 11bds, 2ba, and is priced at $5M. You gotta see this one-of-a-kind property.

I'm not sure if this is the same entrance.

During the Libyan war, the SR-71 could go faster with out its usual limitations.

The usual inlet temperature max is 427°C. It was not to be exceeded by SR 71 pilots. The compressor inlets govern the speed limits; however, a WARTIME EMERGENCY limit was established during the Libyan conflict instead of the usual 427°C. The max was now PUSHED UP to 450°C.

In other words, for the crew's safety, they could push the airplane faster than normal. This required extensive inspection of the first-stage compressor afterward. (the mechanics would be looking for damage to the engines)

It is known from flight test experience that at 3.4, the unstable air in the inlet reaches the engine and can cause a flame out. There were quite a few flameouts during the SR 71 career.

I love this book.

I do remember hearing about an SR 71 pilot who said that he reached 3.5 during this time in Libya. According to the information in this book, that information is totally feasible.

I also remember during the speed run of the SR-71 #972 from California to Virginia, a Skunk Works said that the limitation of 4.27°C could be lifted for the final flight. The true reason was revealed to me at the Blackbird Reunion last summer by Ed Yeilding himself. He said he couldn’t take the airplane any faster because he was afraid he’d run out of gas and he said that would not be a very good look for our last flight.

I have said before that a speed run could’ve been done in less than 68 minutes. My Dad, Butch Sheffield, was in charge of the final flight. he was working for the Skunk Works Washington DC division.
