Just saved my mother from getting scammed out of 600€ how tf does this keep happening!!!!
#she fell for mlm marketing AGAIN#luckily she doesn't know how to pay for things online so she told me about it#like she literally walked into my room like 'I want to try these products recommended by a friend of a friend :)'#me '..have u checked any reviews? what about the brand? is it well known? what are the nutritional values like?'#her 'well no but she said she also uses them n they work great! n they give her extra energy + lowered her blood sugar n cholesterol [etc]'#me '......how much it it?' her '150€ but she said it's a sale package so I'm actually saving money!'#me 'LMAO no. we're gonna background check the brand and products first. I want to see the ingredients list n nutritional values + reviews.'#anyway most reviewers said they were tricked into paying 120€ monthly n they got horribly sick after using said products#also the brand was fined 1 million euros for false advertisement via mlm scheme bs#the reviews were either 1* and furious or 5* and obvious ads (like I ended up reading them aloud like a tv ad instinctively)#also the 150€ order my mother was setting up? at the bottom of the page in fine print it said it was 4×150€...#like spending 150€ for random supplements is INSANE. but 600€???????#oh n guess what? when I looked up the ingredients it turned out that they can interfere w all of my mother's meds#after all that my mother rushed to tell the scammer that she spoke too soon n that given her many health issues–#–she's got to think about it some more before buying anything#I've been protecting her from scams since I was 11 when she almost got scammed by my dad (again)#when will she start getting sus vibes from ppl using the same exact tactics over n over again...#not victim blaming her#I just don't understand..#dy talks

a lil research notes (timeline re: michael & daniel's friendship/professional relationship)
they've known each since the age of 13 by training at the same gym
after daniel left home at the age of 17 (iirc), they didn't hangout as much except for that one month a year when daniel's back to Perth during winter break (they'd catch up by playing sports)
michael went on to study civil engineering in college, graduated, worked a 9-5 job, decided nope, quit and became a trainer for professional athletes
at the end of 2017, daniel messaged michael out of the blue, asking him if he'd like to become his trainer
michael had reservations whether he could get daniel to take him seriously as a coach. and regarding the general 'don't mix friendships w business' rule
basically michael had only 4 weeks to pack up his whole life and moved to london to become a red bull affiliated performance coach overnight lol
they had a trainer-trainee mode and a friend-friend mode that they go back and forth between based on what daniel needed
quoting michael: "i think the main aspect of our relationship is our friendship, most of the time these guys just need a friend by their side to keep them company"
on the other hand michael was also a very dedicated professional bc as a trainer he'd need to take care of basically every aspect in daniel's life as an athlete (physical wellbeing, mental wellbeing, nutritions, etc)
the 1st meeting between michael and yuki (re: michael working with yuki for the 2023 season) hxappened after ad22, ie when daniel had officially decided to take the year off
(more random facts: 1. michael was also a trainer for scotty james 2. apparently daniel is very good at table tennis)

1) love your art style, just the silhouettes and dynamic poses, cheff kiss, specially MonSoon and Mystral
Seriously the shoulders, arms, torso, Latissimus Dorsi- just so satisfying to see and makes we wanna learn more on anatomy to figure how to stylize them like you do
2) how does the nutrition packs work with Monsoon ? Since he’s either just his mod-head with cervicales. Where does it go ? Does it melt into him, does he have to spit it out after absorbing the nutritions ?
…can plugging him into a wall like a phone has the same effect minus the taste ?
3) since heat affect magnets, is it possible for him to accidentally fall apart in the summer during a heatwave?
4) considering Sam is the most fleshy out of the desperados (thinking Mistral has more cybernetics in her head since she has markings) and doesn’t have the same energy as his comrades. Would he be prone to just fall asleep during looong meetings or late night bounding outings ?
Or could the others take care of him since he’s more prone to get sick (like cold, flue etc etc)
Again
Love your art style and flow
Have a good day !
Late response, apologies.
Thank you very much ☺️
We don't know. We know his head is organic so he has to consume something. He likely has (an) artificial organ(s) in his head bit or he gets injections with w/e he needs to at least keep is brain functioning. As for his waste? Who knows. Maybe he does spit out something or he has a waste bag installed in him which gets emptied out frequently 😂 I'm also a believer of a plugin Monsie.
I'm sure he's got some kind of failsafe, otherwise he's shit outta luck during summer in Denver. His chassis is probably state-of-the-art.
Mistral's face is likely artificial, but that's up in the air. SAM WOULD FALL ASLEEP DURING A LONG MEETING 🤣🤣🤣 I think Sundowner would try to feed a sick Sam some weird concoction that worked for him when he was fully human 😂.

🫐idk how to do this so i'm just gonna yap i have no clue what my personality type is but one of my favorite characters that i mildly related to was an INTJ 4w5 so i just took that and ran with it. uhh idk if i'm an introvert or extrovert it just depends on my mental state ig. i've been kinda tweekin recently so i'm loud in public like this dude one time caught me saying some of the most devious ahh shii known to man so i pointed at some random dude and blamed bro for saying it and then i sang the my little pony theme song but like 4 octaves higher. my friends hate me i also have no morals whatsoever so i'm cooked. the only reason why i'm not some bonkers dude on a documentary is because i'm a pathetic loser who doesn't actually go through with anything, i just lose interest or go 'nah this is way too much work' i'm a dude and 4'10" (idk lowkey my fault for not taking nutrition supplements when my doctor told me to) and idk what i like because i just have a hyperfixation and then i go batshit over it for several months (my longest hyperfixation was on a character for a year and i spent like 5k on merch of that character and now i highkey hate waking up to see the character's face literally everywhere) i dislike greasy foods with a burning passion, animals of all types (including insects) but actually i highkey used to like sharks but then they got popular online and agreeing with people on tiktok brings me physical pain. oh yeah i also dislike a lot of people online if they disagree with my opinion but depends on my mood because if i'm feeling mildly upset then i spam them with replies and tell them i love them and for them to have a good day but in the most toxic positive way possible and if i'm having a happy day then i do the same thing but i also slander everything i know about them for hobbies i love getting attention, positive or negative like honestly it's so fun. i go on social media a lot i'm pretty much just terminally online except i don't keep up w/ gossip majority of the time because i have no clue who celebrities are. oh yeah i love getting concern i never follow their advice or whatever all i do is make a joke about how pathetic my existence is and they rather don't care or they show concern and either way i get pissed so maybe i should stop with that lmao tbh whenever i read through the things i write i literally sound like those 'quirky >w<' 2020 gacha life ocs i feel like everyone with an ounce of humanity would realize i'm straight up embarrassing anyways ily have a good day!! take care of yourself :3333

hi! ive been kind of lurking and i was just curious to ask a few questions to you since you are into fe*derism (feel free to ignore this if you aren't comfortable or miss any questions you don't want to answer)
do you consider there to be different types of fe*derism? if yes, what type do you engage with?
what are your thoughts on people posting fe*derism content on apps like tikt0k, y0utube or instagr@m where they are likely to be seen by people not in your community?
how do you feel about other we1ght contr0l k*nks? like fetishes for underweight people or very muscular people, doms who set up gym schedules for their subs or doms who otherwise control their subs diets? (consensually obvs)
do you think they are comparable to fe*derism? or that they should not be considered the same as a k*nk for gaining?
you call fe*derism a RACK k*nk so i was wondering about what you consider the risks of the lifestyle?
(censored words so this doesn't show up in searches if you don't want it to)
thank you in advance <3
hello dear anon!!! these are all wonderfully phrased and approached kindly so i am going to take the time to answer these best i can :3
1. yes, i 100% think there is different types of feederism content! i myself engage with the more lighter side of things (no death feederism, immobility, loss of independence, etc.) because i use this kink as a means of creating a better relationship with food and less about other things!
2. my thoughts vary on this matter, but i think if the people aren't deceptive about Who the content is for and it's labelled properly, all sw regardless of kinks should be able to have multiple platforms. i've seen so many hate videos from people about this kink (mainly for feeders) and it's very hurtful, misinformed, and spreads this shitty dynamic belief in feederism, so i get if people want to stick to the designated sw platforms for this content to avoid hate.
3. i think as long as both parties are 100% consenting (and proper research is done nutrition wise and workout wise) that any weight control kink is fine!! i myself struggle w remembering to take care of myself (like eating) so if i had a nice dom to cook me meals and create a lil mobility routine for me like goddamn yes where do i sign up??? /j
4. you know in Some senses i'd compare it to feederism bc there's a similar aspect to diet control and lifestyle control, but i know some people define "gaining" differently so it's a personal prefrence, but i think the Gain in both scenarios is different but it's still Gaining, yk? hard to put in to proper words but i hope that made sense haha
5. i think for feederism, esp as a feedee w physical disabilities already, there are lots of risks for the lifestyle in terms of what gaining weight can do to your mobility/joints and general health risks as a fat person. i've been considered obsese since i was a kid, and i've heard all the fatphobic rhetoric from doctors and doctors, but it's also good to please do research on what gaining fat can do to your body specifically and always take that into consideration. that's why i consider it a RACK kink because it all must be assessed risk wise and consented to!!!!!
once again thank you so much anon for these questions! i hope i answered them fine haha 🫶🏻

Question!
This is @na specific FYI.
I find a lot of people with @na say that they save money because they eat less and don't need to spend so much in groceries n what not.
Has anyone else had the opposite happen? Because I have.
What I mean is,
I spend so much more on the things I use to keep me from eating vs what I probably would if I was ED free and just bought groceries.
Examples:
- Vaping: which I started to give me something to keep my mouth busy and that's 30-40$ a week.
- Energy drinks: appetite suppression and fullness reason. Say I only buy 4 one week, that's 10-14$ a week. And some weeks I buy 6! That's 15-21$!
- diet soda: I prefer individual bottles over cans because I think cans taste different and I also don't like buying the big bottles because they tend to go flat faster than I can finish them. Say I only buy 2 1 serving bottles, that's 5$. Other weeks I'll buy 4, that's 10$.
- SF sweetener: 6$ a box that lasts 1.5-2 weeks (not bad).
- SF juice: 5$ roughly a bottle.
- gum: originally I bought packs at the store which would last a week. That's roughly 5$ a week. (Now I buy it in bulk packs on Amazon for 9$ and that lasts me 2-3 weeks so not bad)
- Tea: I like variety bc I love tea and get sick of the same 3-4 flavors so I try to buy a new box or 2 every other week. 9$.
Low end: 59-64$ weekly
High end: 78-82$ weekly
That's WITHOUT the low cal food I buy for when I do put nutrition in my body.
Which includes:
- Protein shakes: 30$ every two week/ 30$ a month (depends on what my food schedule is like that month)
- almond milk: 4$ every week.
- SF ice pops: 8$ every other week or so (consumption varies)
- SF ketchup: 6$ every two weeks.
- eggs: I only eat the whites so it's a waste but I hate box egg whites bc they taste weird to me and I would rather just use one egg white from a cracked egg and know it's one egg white versus weighing it out or measuring it out using other dishes on top of what I'm already using to know how much I'm pouring. 4.5$ a week (I'm not the only one that eats them so they go through fast).
- lettuce bunch: 3$ weekly
- baby greens tub: 5$ every other week or 5$ every week (purchase and consumption varies).
- low cal bread: 6-14$ every other week on average (consumption and brand/ type varies)
- Tofu block: 5$ a week/ 2 weeks
- frozen veggies: 4.5$ a week/ 2 weeks. Sometimes, 9$ a week for variety.
- SO ON SO FORTH!!!! (Bc I have no reason to give my full grocery list for the sake of my post)
Adding all this up is:
low end: (59-64$) +35.75$~ = 94.75-99.75$ weekly
High end: (78-82$) +60$~ = 138-143$ weekly
And all of that is higher with the rest of my list, but you get the gist.
I've done regular grocery shops in the past and have a habit of keeping receipts so I looked back on those and on average my maximum grocery trip was 80$ a week. And that's still w/ my vegetarian diet. Because I could buy more stuff in bulk or it's just generally cheaper bc it's not facing the current "healthier/ specialty = pricier". If that makes sense?
Summed up:
For the people who spend less because of their ED, congrats.
But this mf is an expensive ass bitch for me 😂💀
Guess my @na is a gold-digging hoe😭 /J

Do you eat 3 meals a day with snacks? My employer offers a weight loss program, so I signed up bc, hey free, but one of the first things the program emphasized was drinking a large glass of water first thing in the morning w a splash of oj and basically saying skip breakfast (tho it doesn’t flat out say it). And it tells you to weigh yourself every day which idk. Probably not the best program but I got a free food scale out of it 😆
I typically eat 3 meals and snacks. Sometimes 2 really big meals and snacks, or 4 medium sized meals. It honestly depends on the day lol. Anything related to when to eat and how often is a personal thing that’s going to vary. I’d never tell someone “this is the correct way to do it” because what works for one person might not work for another. If skipping breakfast doesn’t work for you then don’t do it lol. If it benefits you and feels right to you, then go for it! Experiment and find what works best for you and gives you the most energy to keep you going throughout the day.
As for weighing yourself every day, I REALLY advise against that. The only reason someone should ever weigh themselves every day in my opinion is purely for analysis reasons. But typically if you’re someone who’s trying to lose weight then it won’t be beneficial at all. Those numbers day to day tell you nothing. An overall trend will tell you something, but the scale will not go down every single day. And if it does, you’re doing something very harmful to your body that will cause you a lot of trouble in the long run. Our weight is supposed to fluctuate as there are many factors that make up body weight, with fat being less than half of that. If you want to use the scale as a tool for progress then I recommend weighing yourself once per week or even once every two weeks
I’m really glad you got the free food scale though because that’s a HUGE game changer! Weighing your food is important. Grams are 100% accurate, measurements of volume are not. 100g of rice is always going to be exactly the same. But a cup of rice will vary and isn’t consistent at all. Besides, the nutrition facts are based on the amount in grams. When they say “1/2 cup” or “2 tbsp” they’re just guessing that that’s how much it takes to get that gram amount. But it’s rarely ever accurate

When you're able I don't know if you can advise. I have recently ended up in a DV shelter and am having to go jobhunting etc no time to process the horrors. I have very limited funds and same for help with food, it's very limited. I'm just asking if you can share what you eat and any tips for food as a kind of model to follow. This is the first time I've ever had to live like this tbh. My family won't help me and say I basically deserve the fallout after the breakdown of my relationship because they told me so. Yeah they're right I see that now but 😭
First & foremost I am so so so so so proud of you lovely, you did amazing to survive & get into a shelter.
You deserve the world, your family are wrong, & I'm so sorry you can't rely on them.. I know how painful it can be to move thru the world without a family to depend on, in the way so many take for granted, in the way people assume we all have. I promise you it is possible, & you will find your people along the way
Honestly I'm not sure if I'm the best model when it comes to food, & what is best depends on what you have access to - do they have a stove or microwave for you to use? A fridge? It can be really difficult to follow the best guidelines for nutrition when you're limited, I've mostly been focusing on breads & pastas & carbs carbs carbs because when I eat them I feel more capable of doing it all (& I find it difficult to figure out what to shop for anyhow as I never had autonomy with what I could eat.)
Pick things you can reliably have the implements to cook, things which are shelf-stable, things which are filling & things you feel better after eating, is my best advice. For me that is ramen, pancake mix, kraft mac n cheese, bread.. not the most balanced focus at all but I do eat other things too, these are just the core of it.
Having orange juice whenever I want has been my great pleasure since getting on foodstamps, I remember I was so glad to have gotten it the last time I was at the ER from the harm done to me, now I can celebrate it safely freely & savor it.. also prevents scurvy
But more than food shopping with what you have, look into what food banks & other such resources are in the area - if you're in the US you can look up 211 (you don't have to call if you don't want) & they have tons & tons of info. It's easier to get help with food than with housing, unfortunately & fortunately
Then, again it's US specific advice, but being homeless w/ no income can make you qualified for expedited services w/ foodstamps!! & also for me it waived their requirements to work a certain # of hours per week, being homeless. If you have access to a computer (or I think even a phone is fine?) you can apply online, if you have no computer public libraries often have them, if you have neither there should be a public office of some sort with paper applications but what it'd be called depends on where you are.
Also I recommend looking for specific things at a time so you don't get overwhelmed trying to decide what is best all at once, when searching for aid. Especially with big collections of orgs like 211 & others, it can be just way too much & too many decisions to make in one go. Take it one step at a time.
So to say it in a list as I know I veered off track a bit:
1. With what funds you have to put towards food, focus on foods that are filling, that you can cook & store reliably.
2. Don't get scurvy but don't feel bad either, all foods are good foods & completely value-neutral. Lots of the foods that get maligned by our fatphobic culture are super dense & filling & glorious for when you have limited access. (O potatoes, bread & pasta, how I love you!)
3. Look into food banks & similar orgs if you haven't already, utilize 211 or a similar collection
4. Apply for foodstamps if you haven't already & if you're in the US
5. I'd highly recommend making a mind map on paper or otherwise of your current resources, current needs, & anything you know you need to do but don't have the resources to get done. (Not having the mental resources to expend across the board to all things is *normal* it isn't your fault. Being homeless is exhausting, a constant crisis lessens how much you can do.) Having things out externally in a way you don't have to just try to remember can really help to keep on top of things, it has for me at least. Mine looks a bit like various connected boxes - like "Housing", "Income", "Transportation" & "Baby", with the various potential paths I'm figuring for fulfilling each underneath, & some smaller ones that got thrown by the wayside for a bit like "Health insurance"...
Please know that you are so worthy of better. Even when you struggle, even when others don't acknowledge this, you are worthy of good. It's hard because it's hard, you are doing your best, the coldness of the world is not a reflection of you. Each life has dignity, including yours & mine, no matter what!! I am rooting for you!! Take it one step at a time lovie dove, I am so proud of you. Please come back & let me know how you are doing whenever you wish to, I am wishing for your happiness always.

Kin Euphorics: Research
Week 4
adaptogens, nootropics, botanics: all enhance the experiences of drinking them- providing relaxing and stimulated effects
These ingredients provide benefits beyond basic nutrition or flavor, positively affecting bodily functions to achieve an elevated state of health, mood, or well-being.
“Euphorics replenish and rebalance the endocrine system naturally, through a mixture of nootropics, adaptogens and botanics.”
“It came out of this frustration at not being able to walk into Whole Foods and grab something off the shelf that wasn’t alcoholic or toxic to the body that was geared to stress relief,”
Every day in every way, all of the above just kept getting better and better. His blood pressure dropped healthily, as did his cholesterol; he’d never slept better.
This range of drinks really interested me, combining both the allure of drinking with actually beneficial ingredients, such as adaptogenics and botanicals. This more scientific approach to non-alcoholic beverages was really enticing to me, as it simulates the same feelings and relaxants, yet doesn't get you drunk. I think this direction is brilliant for providing students with a healthier direction of drinking.

Open Letter to Nutritionists + Dieticians
I'm trying to find some kind of data that seems impossible. I've had actual registered dieticians. Nutritionists are absolutely useless. My GP, one of several I've had in the past few years, is telling me to ~just diet and exercise!!!~ even when I remind her that I cannot, in fact, physically exercise without significant risk of injury, and I cannot eat most things because of celiac disorder and autoimmune issues. I’m fine when told something stupid like “diet and exercise!!!” offhand because that actually applies to most people, but when I specifically remind a doc which patient I am, and bring documentation from other doctors to show those things, they turn nasty.
I’m not fine with your stupid-ass “helpfulness” if your “helpfulness” isn’t just not helpful, but is actually actively harmful.
Every article and source I’ve come across for the past few years conflates WEIGHT gain/loss with FAT gain/loss.
These are NOT THE SAME THING.
The professional resources online are not helping. It's the same regurgitated "information" about gluten free foods being high carb, low nutrient, and how we all just think we can eat whatever we want and not "gain weight." I am literally within 5 pounds of my weight 10 years ago. It's on my medical records. I was only diagnosed w celiac in 2018, after months of NOT being able to eat. Without high fat foods like fries and peanut butter, I often cannot break 1000 calories a day. I have gone from ~4-6US size to a ~12-16, depending on brand. My first burden is to somehow sort through millions of search results that change "lose fat" to "lose weight" when in fact, I do not need to lose any weight. I need to lose fat.
THEN I need to find a way to get calories, any calories, without drinking oil and trying to stuff down vegetables that I physically cannot digest. Shockingly, by the time someone thought that maybe my lifelong issues with getting sick every time I ate something that wasn't rice or soda was maybe a Real Problem, I ended up with several other GI issues like dysphagia and early gastroparesis.
I could never eat things like broccoli without my skin breaking out into a rash. There has never been part of my life where I could eat peas. How weird that it turns out, my aversion to "health food" was my autoimmune system telling me that it's a legume allergy. I can have peanuts and nothing else.
So what do I do when it seems like every. single. article. and video. professional or otherwise... is just... a rehash of this one? It isn't just this article, by the way. I'm using this one as a short, clear example of every point I've seen defeated, not just by myself, but by dozens and dozens of followers of other nutrition and celiac-oriented education accounts on social media. https://www.todaysdietitian.com/enewsletter/enews_1013_01.shtml Some of these points are not wrong! - People do tend to better absorb nutrients and put on weight when the intestines begin healing - Not having diarrhea is a Good Thing, and probably helps someone keep on weight - Lots of GF foods right now have no impetus to be "healthy" at all.
I suspect it's because "going gluten free" has been a fad diet, so the people on a diet (who made the industry profitable) are getting nutrients elsewhere; people with celiac disease have no choice but to buy those items. Therefore, there is no financial reason to improve them. Lots are totally empty, devoid of nutrients in any meaningful amounts. I have found some nutritious products recently BUT they have used chickpeas or pea flours. Great, I can't eat those now. I lost quite a few formerly available foods to chickpeas. Cool, cool.
I wonder how many of these doctors ever look into comorbidities in their patients and think about how many of us have chronic illnesses which prevent us from mentally and physically compiling lists of groceries and cooking equipment, making each and every single meal from scratch, cooking it perfectly, cleaning up, and having energy to eat. From the sheer number of articles I've read in the past year, I'm betting on "not many."
In this article, Amy Jones, MS, RD, LD attributes weight gain to eating too much. That our portion sizes are out of control! We need to practice "mindfully eating." Just use smaller plates and don’t watch TV while we eat (yes those are actually in the article.) The fatties are just fat because we gorge on everything we see. We're like the Langoliers, but with the $12 gluten free CPK frozen pizzas at Wal-mart.

15 Amazing Benefits of Breastfeeding
Note: In this article, many of the hyperlinks will take you to articles that support my research about breastfeeding. Happy reading!
Making Breastfeeding a Reality
Before the birth of my son, it was always my desire to exclusively breastfeed my baby. It never really occurred to me to do it any other way. As it turns out, the more I read and researched, the more pleased I became about this decision.  If you have read about my breastfeeding journey with my son, you know that in the beginning I wasn’t able to make exclusive breastfeeding a reality. However, before my son was three months old, he was exclusively breastfeeding. Praise the Lord!
And despite the fact that for our family in those first three months, breastfeeding was NOT a cheaper than if we had chosen a formula path, my husband, (who is very frugally minded), was still on board with the decision because of all the amazing benefits breastfeeding had to offer both our child and me as well. So…
Some may ask “Why go through all this trouble just to breastfeed when there are other options for feeding a baby in today’s society?”
Here are 15 Amazing Reasons Why I Breastfeed My Baby:
Benefits for the Baby:
1. Colostrum. The first “milk” a new mother produces is a thick, yellowish, almost clear fluid, called Colostrum. Colostrum is also referred to as “liquid gold”. Why? Colostrum is nutrient-packed and contains everything your baby needs in those first few days of life. Colostrum acts similarly to a vaccine in that it works to ward off infections and viruses that your baby may be exposed to. It also helps to prepare your baby’s tummy for the milk that will come in 3-5 days later.
2. Antibodies and Immune Defense. When a baby breastfeeds, that baby not only receives the antibodies his mother has been exposed to over her lifetime, but, due to the adaptive capability of the milk, also receives antibodies for illnesses that he is exposed to. As soon as a baby has been exposed to something, the act of nursing signals an immune response in the mother that produces the right antibodies the baby needs to ward off the illness. How incredible is that!
3. Superior Nutrition. As a baby grows and changes, so does the mother’s milk based on what the baby needs. The combination of vitamins, protein, and fat makes it a superior nutrition. A baby’s growth spurts, where the baby feeds more often, aid in increasing the mother’s milk supply. Breast milk is also said to contain live organisms, which formula cannot duplicate.
4. Pleasant Poop. Yes, you read that correctly. Exclusively breastfed poop is completely water soluble (which is great for cloth diapering or blowouts) and truly doesn’t have an unpleasant odor. Take it from this Mama who used formula as well, formula poop smells awful! Then there’s the fact that breastfed babies may actually poop less often. Due to the nutrient rich content of breast milk, there’s less “waste” as the baby’s body is better able to absorb it as opposed to formula.
5. Better for Reflux. Continuing on the subject of digestion, breastmilk is easier on a baby’s tummy than formula. Babies stomachs are incredibly immature, and those who breastfeed are less likely to have issues with reflux.
6. Developmental Benefits. There are incredible developmental benefits for a breastfeeding baby as well.
Physical development: the act of suckling actually helps to properly form a baby’s mouth and jaw development, which will aid them later in life when they begin eating and speaking. Bottle fed babies are not required to utilize these muscles the same way.
Mental development: According to WebMD, “Breastfeeding has been linked to higher IQ scores in later childhood in some studies.” I’ll take that as a bonus!
Emotional development: breastfed babies are less likely to deal with anxiety and depression when compared to babies who didn’t breastfeed.
7. Easy On-the-Go! There is considerably less preparation when it comes to feeding a breastfed baby, as opposed to feeding with a bottle. You already have your baby’s food wherever you go, and it’s already in the perfect amount and the perfect temperature. I remember back in the formula days, trying to keep all the bottles washes and ready and measuring out formula and water. I wouldn’t say it’s difficult to do, but definitely takes more prep time when you’re needing to leave the house.
8. Special Bond. I believe all babies bond with their mothers, no matter how they are fed. However, there is something to be said for those special moments of closeness, eye contact, and skin to skin comfort and security the baby feels. Not to mention the hilarious things your baby does while nursing as he gets older.
9. Lower Risks Later in Life. Babies who breastfeed are less likely later in life to develop diabetes or struggle with obesity. “It also lowers their risk of having asthma or allergies.”
Benefits for the Mother:
10. Faster Post Partum Healing. Once a baby is born, the act of breastfeeding helps the uterus contract back to a normal size, which promotes faster post partum healing.
11. Decreased Risk for a Lifetime. Studies show that breastfeeding significantly decreases the risk of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.
12. Two words: No Period! Who didn’t love being pregnant if only for that one reason? Breastfeeding delays ovulation, and thus menstruation as well. Some couples even use it as a natural birth control method, (though few care providers will recommend it as a sole method).
13. Help Losing Weight. Breastfeeding can help in post partum weight loss efforts as it can burn 400-500 calories a day!
14. Decreased Risk of PP Depression. Breastfeeding releases “feel-good” hormones, which can aid in bonding with your baby. Breastfeeding mothers are also 50% less likely to deal with post partum depression than those who do not.
15. Cheap. Although this wasn’t the case for us at first, generally speaking, there is a cost efficiency for the majority families who are able and choose to go the breastfeeding route.
“So how long should I breastfeed my baby?”
We’ll address this question more fully in another post, but there are definite benefits to breastfeeding your child past the first year of his life. The World Health Organization (WHO) actually recommends that a child be fed breast milk for at least the first 2 years. WHO also encourages mothers who may be struggling with breastfeeding to seek out expert support so that they can learn to successfully breastfeed.
So there you have it! 15 AMAZING reasons to breastfeed your baby!
The truth is that God designed mothers to be able to nourish their children, and despite man’s best effort, no supplement can come close to God’s design.
“From the God of your father who helps you, And by the Almighty who blesses you With blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that lies beneath, Blessings of the breasts and of the womb.” Genesis 49:25
