Oh man Mr. Peanutbutter had a moment… he finally got that crossover episode… I was kinda hoping for a joke that went “Mr. Peanutbutter and BoJack Horseman in the same room? What is this, Philbert?” or “What is this, a short-lived show on a streaming network that got canceled because the star got addicted to painkillers and strangled his costar in a drugged haze?” but this is SO MUCH BETTER. I've never seen him cry before and the way he reacts to himself crying suggests that maybe he’s never cried before at all, and that’s why he just keeps laughing, almost like it’s forced, cause this is supposed to be his happiest moment and it’s not supposed to make him so sad. fucking,, character development
and the cold open of ep 8… you can forgive yourself and move on from your past wrongs but it doesn’t erase the things you did, the effects they have on people, and the trauma they’ve suffered. and then like, how can you forgive yourself if they never forgive you? how do you maintain that balance? why should you move forward if they can’t?

her quote about not wanting to be defined by what bojack did to her has always stuck with me, and i feel like now, that quote has sort of come true. like, her saying that made us avoid reducing her to what happened to her, and thats why i wanted to see her come back this season, hopefully moving past it. but she can’t. it traumatized her. and everyone can see the effects of it but she feels like she can’t come forward, cause if she does she’ll be punished. shit like that changes you.
and it’s another instance on the show where someone chooses to advance their career & preserve their reputation over doing the right thing (like what bojack does with herb & sharona), but bojack does it out of self-interest, and gina does it so she doesn’t have to relive her trauma every time she gets interviewed or recognized by a fan. but even when she keeps quiet about it she’s still reliving her trauma

you ever just like… you ever watch a scene and feel the cliffhanger vibes creeping up and you just know it’s gonna end there and leave you unsatisfied and begging for more but at the same time that’s what makes it such a good place to end it. that was me with this. (and also the ending of undone)
the thing about this show is, it illustrates what it’s like to be a toxic person. and sure, he has it hard, but the show never asserts that he has it any worse than his victims, even if bojack himself does so. and he only does it so he can feel better about himself. he deserves a reckoning, he needs to pay for his bad deeds. but then, when you know what made him this way and what goes on inside his mind and that he wants to get better, it makes you feel for him, and forces you to ask if he deserves to get better and forgive himself and move forward. but even if he does, it doesn’t change the things he did. it doesn’t fix the lives he’s ruined.

Safe
To say Rebekah was flustered would be an understatement.  She was rushing about the recently finished house trying to find a necklace she could have sworn was on the dresser this morning and Marcel where the fuck have you put it?
Her husband laughed at her antics before grabbing her hands, “Beks you are wearing the necklace.  And calm down sweetheart, everything will be fine.”
“But it has to be perfect!” She protested.
Marcel shook his head, “it already will be.  You’ll be surrounded by everyone you love and nothing’s gone wrong for 4 years.”
“But you know what my br-“ she began.
He cut her off, “screw what your brothers think.  I hardly think they’ll notice if there are a few sausage rolls missing.”
“But what if it rains?” Rebekah persisted.
Marcel pulled her towards the kitchen, “then we have plenty of space to accommodate everyone.  Honestly Beks stop worrying.  Everything will be fine.”
“What would I do without you?” She said as she reached up to kiss him.
He smirked, “who knows.”
They were interrupted by the doorbell ringing.  The 2 of them pulled apart and went to the front door to greet the first guests.  When Rebekah opened the door they saw her twin brother, his wife and their 2 excited children.
“Auntie Beka!” Hannah exclaimed excitedly.
Rebekah smiled and spun the little girl around, “Hello little miss.”
Marcel bent down to give her brother a high five and Daniel enthusiastically slapped the vampire’s hand.  The twins ran into the house, excited to see what it was like as the adults headed through to the kitchen.  There Rebekah fixed everybody a drink and they made small talk until the next guests arrived, mainly because she still didn’t trust her brother alone with Marcel.
A few minutes later there was a knock at the door and Marcel went answer it.  He opened it to greet his father figure and his fiancé.  Klaus enveloped him in a hug before continuing into the house.  Cami gave him a quick hug before going to the kitchen.
“Uncle Nik!” Daniel yelled as he barrelled into his uncle.
Klaus laughed at his nephew before scooping the small boy into his arms, “hello to you Danny.”
“We’re playing hide and seek with Daddy and Uncle Marcel,” he explained quickly.
He put the boy back on the floor, “well let’s find you the best hiding place.”
Cami watched from through the archway with a fond smile as Klaus chased his nephew through the living room.  It made her remember how it had been when Hope was only little.  They had played hide and seek for hours in the compound; somehow Klaus always got caught first.  But it also made her heartache when she remembered she would never have that with the love of her life- a vampire’s curse.
Rebekah approached Cami, “come on, come to help me sort the shit out for the boys so they can feel important.”
The younger vampire allowed her soon to be sister-in-law to pull her towards the kitchen where she pulled her sleeves up and helped Rebekah sort the meat out.

Next came Keelin and Freya with their 3-year-old son Finn.  Klaus opened the door to greet them, “there’s my favourite nephew.”
“Don’t let Daniel hear that,” Keelin teased as she hugged him.
Freya gave her wife a light shove, “I’m pretty sure Daniel would agree.”
“The twins do adore their cousin,” Klaus said pointedly.
Keelin held her hands up, “Alright you two.”
“Nik are you going to let them in or keep them all to yourself?” Kol called through the house.
He yelled back, “well you can have them.  They’re quite a boring really.”
Freya gave him the birdie as they walked past and he smirked.
“Hello dear sister,” Kol greeted her with a kiss on the cheek, “Finn.”
The youngest original held his fist up and the small boy eagerly hit his against his uncle’s.  Kol took his nephew from his sister and shooed her towards the garden, “go save Klaus and Marcel from the confusion that is barbecuing.”
Freya saluted her little brother and headed off to assist the other boys.  Keelin followed Kol into the kitchen where Cami and Rebekah sat on the counters gossiping.  Keelin grabbed herself a beer before joining their conversation.  Kol watched them with a smile before following his sister out to the garden.
15 minutes later the doorbell rang for the last time.  Elijah, Hayley, Hope, Josh and Aiden stood on the doorstep when Rebekah opened the door.  The 4 adults all looked slightly sheepish and Hope was stood with a smirk on her face.
“What took you all so long?” Rebekah demanded.
Hope gave her aunt a sly smile, “some people were busy.”
“Oh yes and you weren’t on the phone to Roman for an hour,” Aiden fired back.
Hope gave him a shove before heading into the house and Josh hugged Rebekah, “now where are my gorgeous niece and nephew?”
“Chasing each other around the garden while Finn attempts to keep up,” she answered, “now please dear brother help Klaus do this bloody bbq because Freya is 0 help.”
Elijah laughed and followed the others into the household.

The BBQ was now in full swing.  Surprisingly enough Elijah was the one in charge of the cooking.  Kol, Klaus and Aiden were playing with the 3 children by the shady oak at the back of the garden.  Marcel and Josh were talking with Davina, Cami was telling tales from the bar to Freya and Rebekah whilst Hayley, Hope and Keelin talked werewolf business.
Rebekah took a moment to watch everyone.  Considering everything they had been through in the past 18 years it was a miracle everyone had come out the other side.  Hope, her poor niece, had taken the brunt of the villains but now she was happy, helping the family witches maintain peace in the quarter and Roman had finally made a move on her; Rebekah had never seen the girl happier.  Kol, her twin brother, who had been through so much stress in his a thousand years had not been seen without a smile on his face since he met his wife.  Originally he had been unsure about adopting the twins but once Daniel had smiled at him he had been in adoration of them.
Klaus was finally happy; no stress, no paranoia and no constant need to protect his family.  Cami kept a smile on his face and a fond look in his eye.  With the exception of Hope, Rebekah had never seen him look at anyone that way before and now it was normal for him to be like this.  She smiled as her brother picked up Finn and spun him around, laughing as the little boy shrieked with joy.
Elijah interrupted her train of thought, “everybody forms an orderly queue!  No one will be getting anything if you push.”
The extended Mikaelson family gathered calmly around him and the massive BBQ covered in an elaborate array of food.  Elijah began to dish up to the number of hungry supernatural creatures.

Later in the evening when everyone had been fed and the children were tucked away in the spare bedroom the adults sat around the fire pit talking about their lives.  Josh was sharing a tale of an interesting woman who had come into the bar the other week.  Everyone was laughing by the end of it and Cami began to tell a story of how the other vampire had nearly set the kitchen on fire.
“It was an easy mistake to make,” Josh defended.
Aiden shook his head, “babe I hardly think nearly setting the kitchen on fire is an easy mistake to make.”
“Well in my defence-” he began.
Cami shot him down, “there is no defence in the world for what you did.”
“I didn’t know cling film would melt!” Josh exclaimed.
The group laughed and Marcel sighed, “and here I thought I had made a wise decision to make you a vampire.  I may now be regretting that.”
“I’d be dead if you hadn’t,” he pointed out.
The older vampire laughed, “very true.”
“How’s the compound coming along Nik?” Kol asked.
His older brother smiled, “it’s coming along quite well.  All the houses are built and they’re moving on to all the plumbing and bits.  I’m hoping they’ll begin furnishing in a few weeks.”
“And then it’s the fun part,” Hope announced.
Klaus laughed fondly at his daughter, “yes.  We all know you’ll spend hours agonising over getting your bedroom just right.”
“Hey!” She protested, “it has to be perfect.”
Kol smirked at his niece, “so your company will be impressed?”
Hope glared at him, “I’ll kill you.”
“You can’t,” he sang.
Instead of answering, she launched at her uncle and they began chasing each other around the garden.  They all watched with amused faces as Hope tackled Kol to the ground.  With a flick of her wrist, he was bound to the grass.  She gave him a wicked grin.
“Just because I can’t kill you doesn’t mean I can’t make you suffer,” she said victoriously.
Kol groaned, “Davinaaa.”
“You earned it,” his wife answered with a smile.
He glared at his brother, “she is so your daughter Nik.”
Klaus grinned, “I know.  I’m so proud.”

Anyone who runs social media for a business knows that the landscape is constantly shifting. Best practices change on a dime. Staying on top of the latest trends is critical if you want to get noticed, and that’s the very problem that the Social Media Marketing World Conference is solving.
They start with the headline: “Discover the best social media marketing strategies from the world’s top experts.” This tells readers that by attending, they’ll have access to high-caliber guests and will be getting top-notch advice to help with their social efforts.
The sub-head states, “You’ll discover the latest tactics and master social media in 2020.” This builds confidence that the people speaking at the conference are on the cutting edge—if you attend, you won’t be hearing about things that worked in the past. Instead, you’ll have access to the hottest knowledge that will vault you ahead of your competition this year.
Next up is their proof statement: “Join thousands of fellow marketers and influencers at the mega-conference designed to empower you with business-building ideas.” This is a conference that’s been around for years and is trusted by tons of other industry professionals. They keep coming back year after year because the conference delivers for them, so what’s stopping you from signing up?
Unsurprisingly, the folks running this marketing conference have a great handle on how to create a strong  landing page. But no matter what field you’re in, you can do the same for your business by focusing on those three key elements: headline, sub-head, proof statement.
2. The Hero Element
Once you’ve captured people’s attention with a header that promises to solve their problem, you want to draw them in further. That’s where the hero element comes in. This is typically a visual component—either still image or video—that provides context for your audience. It helps them understand how your service or product will change their lives for the better.
The hero metaphor is two-fold. You want to establish yourself as their hero, someone who’s capable of coming in and solving their problem. But sometimes the hero image is actually of them; it’s a look at how, once their problem is solved, they can go on to do bigger and better things for themselves and those around them.

The image shows a mom and daughter playing on their lush, healthy lawn. And while TruGreen isn’t literally in the picture, the beautiful grass represents their hard work. They strove to keep pests at bay and made this backyard a place for quality family time. This mom isn’t stuck wasting time trying to fix her lawn herself. Instead, TruGreen has taken care of that for her, and she’s able to enjoy being a parent.
3. List of Benefits
By now, you’ve drawn your audience in with a bold opening statement and compelling visual. Next up, you want to provide a specific summary of the benefits they’ll get from taking advantage of your headline offer. This is your opportunity to list benefits and features in detail.
Take this example from Rite Plumbing and Heating, which is the landing page you come to after searching “same day plumber near me” on Google.
Their list of benefits goes into detail and addresses many of the concerns a prospect might have. Their plumbers are available immediately and around the clock. You know what you’ll pay before you book, so you don’t have to worry about surprise charges on your final bill. Their team is licensed and insured, so you can rest easy letting them into your home. And they’re not looking for the quick and easy solution. Instead, they search for the underlying cause and fix that so you don’t need an emergency plumber again in a few weeks’ time!
By providing this level of detail up front, you eliminate any hesitation a prospect might have. And by keeping all of this information on the same landing page, you prevent your audience from having to dig through your website for a separate FAQ page. You’ve given them all of the information they need right here, right now to make their decision.
4. Social Proof
Even with all of that information from you, sometimes prospects want one final layer of reassurance. Of course you think your business is great, but do your existing customers agree?
You could leave your prospect to search for you on Yelp or Google My Business, but that invites them to leave your landing page and opens up the possibility that they might discover one of your competitors and drift over to them. Instead, provide social proof directly on your landing page to keep your audience right where you want them.

I’ve collected quotes from other well-respected and recognizable authors and thought leaders who had nice things to say about my book. For someone who may be on the fence about purchasing the book, these quotes give them a greater sense of what the work is about and provide external proof of its value. It’s no longer just me saying nice things about my own book; others who are in-the-know think it’s useful, too.
Social proof on your landing page can come in a number of forms. It can be quotes or testimonials, like in this example. You can also include likes and shares that are linked up with your social media pages. Or you can show starred ratings that come from external local listings sites like Yelp or Google My Business.
Basically, anything that shows that other people have given your product or service a try and have left happy customers is of value in the social proof stage.
5. One Call to Action
You’ve given it all you’ve got. You drew readers in with a killer headline. Then you created an image that shows how great life could be with your product or service. You gave your audience the inside scoop on exactly what they can expect if they make the purchase. And you’ve proven that other people like what you do.
Now it’s time to go in with the call to action. It’s important that you only create one call to action per landing page. Having multiple buttons and forms asking your audience to do different things is very confusing. And it can scare people off from taking your desired action.
Instead, create one button or a basic form. The appropriate call to action will depend on what you’re asking someone to do. If you’re asking them to do something very simple, like ordering a book, a button can suffice. If you’re offering a free quote or to schedule an appointment, a short form might be the right fit.

The cold water inlet and hot water outlet connections

Every water heater has a temperature and pressure relief valve. It is typically located on the side or top of the water heater. We live in a world of information overload. If 10 years ago it was hard to find content at all, now there’s way too much of it! Which one is good? Which one is bad? We don’t know.
  While this subject is very complex, it’s clear that Google is attempting to solve these content issues in its search results. One of the biggest issues they’ve encountered in the digital marketing world is what they call thin content.
    But what exactly is thin content? Should you worry about it? Can it affect your website’s SEO in a negative way? Well, thin content can get your site manually penalized but it can also sometimes send your website in Google’s omitted results. If you want to avoid these issues, keep reading!

  1. What Is Thin Content & How Does It Affect SEO?
  Thin content is an OnPage SEO issue that has been defined by Google as content with no added value.
  When you’re publishing content on your website and it doesn’t improve the quality of a search results page at least a little bit, you’re publishing thin content.
  For a very dull example, when you search Google for a question such as “What color is the sky?” and there’s an article out there saying “The sky is blue!”, if you publish an article with the same answer you would be guilty of adding no value.
  So does it mean that this article is thin content because there are other articles about thin content out there?
  Well.. no. Why? Because I’m adding value to it. First, I’m adding my own opinion, which is crucial. Then, I’m trying to structure it as logically as possible, address as many important issues as I can and cover gaps which I have identified from other pieces.
  Sometimes, you might not have something new to say, but you might have a better way of saying it. To go back to our example, you could say something like “The sky doesn’t really have a color but is perceived as blue by the human eye because of the way light scatters through the atmosphere.”
  Of course, you would probably have to add at least another 1500 words to that to make it seem like it’s not thin. It’s true. Longer content tends to rank better in Google, with top positions averaging about 2000 words.
  How your content should be to rank
  Sometimes, you might add value through design or maybe even through a faster website. There are multiple ways through which you can add value. We’ll talk about them soon.
  From the Google Webmaster Guidelines page we can extract 4 types of practices which are strictly related to content quality. However, they are not easy to define!
  Automatically generated content: Simple. It’s content created by robots to replace regular content, written by humans. Don’t do it. But… some AI content marketing tools have become so advanced that it’s hard to distinguish between real and automatically generated content. Humans can write poorly too. Don’t expect a cheap freelancer who writes 1000 words for $1 to have good grammar and copy. A robot might be better. But theoretically, that’s against the rules.
Thin affiliate pages: If you’re publishing affiliate pages which don’t include reviews or opinions, you’re not providing any new value to the users compared to what the actual store is already providing on their sales page.
Scraped or copied content: The catch here is to have original content. If you don’t have original content, you shouldn’t be posting it to claim it’s yours. However, even when you don’t claim it’s yours, you can’t expect Google to rank it better than the original source. Maybe there can be a reason (better design, faster website) but, generally, nobody would say it’s fair. Scraping is a no no and Google really hates it.
Doorway pages: Doorway pages are pages created to target and rank for a variety of very similar queries. While this is bad in Google’s eyes, the search giant doesn’t provide an alternative to doorway pages. If you have to target 5-10 similar queries (let’s say if you’re doing local SEO for a client), you might pull something off with one page, but if you have to target thousands of similar queries, you won’t be able to do it. A national car rental service, for example, will always have pages which could be considered doorways.

    As you can see, it all revolves around value. The content that you publish must have some value to the user. If it’s just there because you want traffic, then you’re doing it wrong.
  But value can sometimes be hard to define. For some, their content might seem as the most valuable, while for others it might seem useless. For example, one might write “Plumbing services New York, $35 / hour, Phone number”. The other might write “The entire history of plumbing, How to do it yourself, Plumbing services New York, $35 / hour, Phone number.”
  Which one is more relevant? Which one provides more value? It really depends on the user’s intent. If the user just wants a plumber, they don’t want to hear about all the history. They just want a phone number and a quick, good service.
  However, what’s important to understand is that there is always a way to add value.
  In the end, it’s the search engine that decides, but there are some guidelines you can follow to make sure Google sees your content as valuable. Keep reading and you’ll find out all about them. But first, let’s better understand why thin content is still an issue and how it actually affects search engine optimization.
  1.1 Is Thin Content Still a Problem in 2019?
  The thin content purge started on February 23, 2011 with the first Panda Update. At first, Google introduced the thin content penalty because many people were generating content automatically or were creating thousands of irrelevant pages.
  The series of further updates were successful and many websites with low quality content got penalized or deranked. This pushed site owners to write better content.
  Unfortunately, today this mostly translates to longer content. The more you write, the more value you can provide, right? We know it’s not necessarily the case, but as I’ve said, longer content does tend to rank better in Google. Be it because the content makes its way up there or because the search engine is biased towards it… it’s hard to tell.
  But there’s also evidence that long form content gets more shares on social media. This can result in more backlinks, which translates to better rankings. So it’s not directly the fact that the content is long, but rather an indirect factor related to it.
  It’s kind of ironic, as Google sometimes uses its answer boxes to give a very ‘thin’ answer to questions that might require more context to be well understood.
  However, in 2019 it’s common SEO knowledge that content must be of high quality. The issue today shifts to the overload of content that is constantly being published. Everything is, at least to some extent, qualitative.
  But it’s hard to get all the information from everywhere and you don’t always know which source to rely on or trust. That’s why content curation has been doing so well lately.
  This manifests itself in other areas, especially where there’s a very tough competition, such as eCommerce.
  1.2 How Does Thin Content Affect SEO?
  Google wants to serve its users the best possible content it can. If Google doesn’t do that, then its users won’t return to Google and could classify it as a poor quality service. And that makes the search engine unhappy.
  Google generally applies a manual action penalty to websites it considers to contain thin content. You will see it in the Google Search Console (former Google Webmaster Tools) and it looks like this:
  However, your site can still be affected by thin content even if you don’t get a warning from Google in your Search Console account. That’s because you’re diluting your site’s value and burning through your crawl budget.
  The problem that search engines have is that they constantly have to crawl a lot of pages. The more pages you give it to crawl, the more work it has to do.
  If the pages the search engine crawls are not useful for the users, then Google will have a problem with wasting its time on your content.
  1.3 Where Is Thin Content Found Most Often?
  Thin content is found most of the time on bigger websites. For the sake of helping people that really need help, let’s exclude spammy affiliate websites and automated blogs from this list.
  Big websites, like eCommerce stores, often have a hard time coming up with original, high quality content for all their pages, especially for thousands of product pages.
    In the example above, you can see that although the Product Details section under the image is expanded, there’s no content there. This means that users don’t have any details at all about the dress. All they know is that it’s a dress, it’s black and it costs about $20.
  This doesn’t look too bad when you’re looking as a human at a single page, but when you’re a search engine and take a look at thousands and thousands of pages just like this one, then you begin to see the issue.
  The solution here is to add some copy. Think of what users want to know about your product. Make sure you add the details about everything they might want to know and make them easily accessible!
  Sometimes, thin content makes its way into eCommerce sites unnoticed. For example, you might have a category page which hosts a single product. Compared to all your other categories or competitor websites,that can be seen as thin content.
  2. How to Identify Thin Content Pages
  If we are referring merely to its size, then thin content can be easily identified using the cognitiveSEO Tool’s Site Audit.

It’s as simple as that! Once you have your list, you can export it and start adding some content to those pages. This will improve their chances to make it to the top of the search results.
  However, you also want to take a look at the duplicate content section in the Site Audit tool. This can also lead to a lot of indexation & content issues.
    Extremely similar pages can be “combined” using canonical tags. Sometimes it can be a good idea to remove them completely from the search engine results.
  3. How to Fix Thin Content Issues & Avoid a Google Penalty
  Sometimes, you can fix thin content issues easily, especially if you get a manual penalty warning. At least if your website isn’t huge. If you have thousands of pages, it might take a while till you can fix them.
  Here’ s a happy ending case from one of Doug Cunnington’s students:

    However, the “penalty” can also come from the algorithm and you won’t even know it’s there because there is no warning. It’s not actually a penalty, it’s just the fact that Google won’t rank your pages because of their poor quality.
  When that’s the case, it might not be as easy to get things fixed as in the video above.
  In order to avoid getting these penalties, here’s a few things that you should consider when you write content.
  3.1 Make sure your site looks legit
  First of all, if your website looks shady, then you have a higher chance of getting a manual penalty on your website. If someone from Google reviews your website and decides it looks spammy at a first glance, they will be more likely to consider penalizing it.
  To avoid this, make sure you:
  Use an original template and customize it a little bit
Have a logo or some sort of original branding
Provide an about page and contact details
  3.2 Add more content & avoid very similar titles
  The best way to show Google that your pages are worth taking a look at is to not leave them empty. In 2019, I hope we all know that for good OnPage SEO we need to add a little bit more content.
  Your pages should have at least 300 words of copy. Notice how I say copy, not words. If you’re there to sell, write copy. Even on an eCommerce product page.
  If you’re not sure what to write about, you can always use the CognitiveSEO Keyword Tool & Content Assistant. It will give you ideas on what you should write on your pages to make them relevant for the query you want them to rank on.
  Automatically generated titles can also quickly trigger Google’s alarms. If you review multiple products from the same brand and your titles are like this:

  then you can see how it might be an issue. Do those articles provide any value or are they all the same except for one digit?
  It’s important to have the keywords in your title, but you can also try to add some diversity to them. It’s not always very hard to do. A good example could be:

Nike Air Max 620 | A Comprehensive Review Regarding Comfort
Nike Air Max 720 | Review After 2 Weeks of Wearing Them at The Gym
  But Adrian, I have an eCommerce site with over 2000 products, I can’t write original titles for all of them!
  That’s why I said that content isn’t the only way you can provide value with. If you can’t change the titles and content, improve some other areas.
  However, the truth is that there’s someone out there who does optimize and show love to all their titles, even if there are 2000 of them. So why shouldn’t they be rewarded for it?
  Usually, very similar titles are a result of content duplication issues. We live in a world of information overload. If 10 years ago it was hard to find content at all, now there’s way too much of it! Which one is good? Which one is bad? We don’t know.
  While this subject is very complex, it’s clear that Google is attempting to solve these content issues in its search results. One of the biggest issues they’ve encountered in the digital marketing world is what they call thin content.
    But what exactly is thin content? Should you worry about it? Can it affect your website’s SEO in a negative way? Well, thin content can get your site manually penalized but it can also sometimes send your website in Google’s omitted results. If you want to avoid these issues, keep reading!

  1. What Is Thin Content & How Does It Affect SEO?
  Thin content is an OnPage SEO issue that has been defined by Google as content with no added value.
  When you’re publishing content on your website and it doesn’t improve the quality of a search results page at least a little bit, you’re publishing thin content.
  For a very dull example, when you search Google for a question such as “What color is the sky?” and there’s an article out there saying “The sky is blue!”, if you publish an article with the same answer you would be guilty of adding no value.
  So does it mean that this article is thin content because there are other articles about thin content out there?
  Well.. no. Why? Because I’m adding value to it. First, I’m adding my own opinion, which is crucial. Then, I’m trying to structure it as logically as possible, address as many important issues as I can and cover gaps which I have identified from other pieces.
  Sometimes, you might not have something new to say, but you might have a better way of saying it. To go back to our example, you could say something like “The sky doesn’t really have a color but is perceived as blue by the human eye because of the way light scatters through the atmosphere.”
  Of course, you would probably have to add at least another 1500 words to that to make it seem like it’s not thin. It’s true. Longer content tends to rank better in Google, with top positions averaging about 2000 words.
  How your content should be to rank
  Sometimes, you might add value through design or maybe even through a faster website. There are multiple ways through which you can add value. We’ll talk about them soon.
  From the Google Webmaster Guidelines page we can extract 4 types of practices which are strictly related to content quality. However, they are not easy to define!
  Automatically generated content: Simple. It’s content created by robots to replace regular content, written by humans. Don’t do it. But… some AI content marketing tools have become so advanced that it’s hard to distinguish between real and automatically generated content. Humans can write poorly too. Don’t expect a cheap freelancer who writes 1000 words for $1 to have good grammar and copy. A robot might be better. But theoretically, that’s against the rules.
Thin affiliate pages: If you’re publishing affiliate pages which don’t include reviews or opinions, you’re not providing any new value to the users compared to what the actual store is already providing on their sales page.
Scraped or copied content: The catch here is to have original content. If you don’t have original content, you shouldn’t be posting it to claim it’s yours. However, even when you don’t claim it’s yours, you can’t expect Google to rank it better than the original source. Maybe there can be a reason (better design, faster website) but, generally, nobody would say it’s fair. Scraping is a no no and Google really hates it.
Doorway pages: Doorway pages are pages created to target and rank for a variety of very similar queries. While this is bad in Google’s eyes, the search giant doesn’t provide an alternative to doorway pages. If you have to target 5-10 similar queries (let’s say if you’re doing local SEO for a client), you might pull something off with one page, but if you have to target thousands of similar queries, you won’t be able to do it. A national car rental service, for example, will always have pages which could be considered doorways.

    As you can see, it all revolves around value. The content that you publish must have some value to the user. If it’s just there because you want traffic, then you’re doing it wrong.
  But value can sometimes be hard to define. For some, their content might seem as the most valuable, while for others it might seem useless. For example, one might write “Plumbing services New York, $35 / hour, Phone number”. The other might write “The entire history of plumbing, How to do it yourself, Plumbing services New York, $35 / hour, Phone number.”
  Which one is more relevant? Which one provides more value? It really depends on the user’s intent. If the user just wants a plumber, they don’t want to hear about all the history. They just want a phone number and a quick, good service.
  However, what’s important to understand is that there is always a way to add value.
  In the end, it’s the search engine that decides, but there are some guidelines you can follow to make sure Google sees your content as valuable. Keep reading and you’ll find out all about them. But first, let’s better understand why thin content is still an issue and how it actually affects search engine optimization.

  The thin content purge started on February 23, 2011 with the first Panda Update. At first, Google introduced the thin content penalty because many people were generating content automatically or were creating thousands of irrelevant pages.

  Unfortunately, today this mostly translates to longer content. The more you write, the more value you can provide, right? We know it’s not necessarily the case, but as I’ve said, longer content does tend to rank better in Google. Be it because the content makes its way up there or because the search engine is biased towards it… it’s hard to tell.
  But there’s also evidence that long form content gets more shares on social media. This can result in more backlinks, which translates to better rankings. So it’s not directly the fact that the content is long, but rather an indirect factor related to it.
  It’s kind of ironic, as Google sometimes uses its answer boxes to give a very ‘thin’ answer to questions that might require more context to be well understood.
  However, in 2019 it’s common SEO knowledge that content must be of high quality. The issue today shifts to the overload of content that is constantly being published. Everything is, at least to some extent, qualitative.
  But it’s hard to get all the information from everywhere and you don’t always know which source to rely on or trust. That’s why content curation has been doing so well lately.
  This manifests itself in other areas, especially where there’s a very tough competition, such as eCommerce.

  Google wants to serve its users the best possible content it can. If Google doesn’t do that, then its users won’t return to Google and could classify it as a poor quality service. And that makes the search engine unhappy.
  Google generally applies a manual action penalty to websites it considers to contain thin content. You will see it in the Google Search Console (former Google Webmaster Tools) and it looks like this:
  However, your site can still be affected by thin content even if you don’t get a warning from Google in your Search Console account. That’s because you’re diluting your site’s value and burning through your crawl budget.
  The problem that search engines have is that they constantly have to crawl a lot of pages. The more pages you give it to crawl, the more work it has to do.
  If the pages the search engine crawls are not useful for the users, then Google will have a problem with wasting its time on your content.
  1.3 Where Is Thin Content Found Most Often?
  Thin content is found most of the time on bigger websites. For the sake of helping people that really need help, let’s exclude spammy affiliate websites and automated blogs from this list.
  Big websites, like eCommerce stores, often have a hard time coming up with original, high quality content for all their pages, especially for thousands of product pages.
    In the example above, you can see that although the Product Details section under the image is expanded, there’s no content there. This means that users don’t have any details at all about the dress. All they know is that it’s a dress, it’s black and it costs about $20.
  This doesn’t look too bad when you’re looking as a human at a single page, but when you’re a search engine and take a look at thousands and thousands of pages just like this one, then you begin to see the issue.
  The solution here is to add some copy. Think of what users want to know about your product. Make sure you add the details about everything they might want to know and make them easily accessible!
  Sometimes, thin content makes its way into eCommerce sites unnoticed. For example, you might have a category page which hosts a single product. Compared to all your other categories or competitor websites,that can be seen as thin content.
  2. How to Identify Thin Content Pages
  If we are referring merely to its size, then thin content can be easily identified using the cognitiveSEO Tool’s Site Audit.

    Extremely similar pages can be “combined” using canonical tags. Sometimes it can be a good idea to remove them completely from the search engine results.
  3. How to Fix Thin Content Issues & Avoid a Google Penalty
  Sometimes, you can fix thin content issues easily, especially if you get a manual penalty warning. At least if your website isn’t huge. If you have thousands of pages, it might take a while till you can fix them.

    However, the “penalty” can also come from the algorithm and you won’t even know it’s there because there is no warning. It’s not actually a penalty, it’s just the fact that Google won’t rank your pages because of their poor quality.
  When that’s the case, it might not be as easy to get things fixed as in the video above.
  In order to avoid getting these penalties, here’s a few things that you should consider when you write content.
  3.1 Make sure your site looks legit
  First of all, if your website looks shady, then you have a higher chance of getting a manual penalty on your website. If someone from Google reviews your website and decides it looks spammy at a first glance, they will be more likely to consider penalizing it.
  To avoid this, make sure you:
  Use an original template and customize it a little bit
Have a logo or some sort of original branding
Provide an about page and contact details
  3.2 Add more content & avoid very similar titles
  The best way to show Google that your pages are worth taking a look at is to not leave them empty. In 2019, I hope we all know that for good OnPage SEO we need to add a little bit more content.
  Your pages should have at least 300 words of copy. Notice how I say copy, not words. If you’re there to sell, write copy. Even on an eCommerce product page.

  But Adrian, I have an eCommerce site with over 2000 products, I can’t write original titles for all of them!
  That’s why I said that content isn’t the only way you can provide value with. If you can’t change the titles and content, improve some other areas.
  However, the truth is that there’s someone out there who does optimize and show love to all their titles, even if there are 2000 of them. So why shouldn’t they be rewarded for it?
