Andrew looks over at Neil who was heckling Robert on the TV as he cried in Russian while Smith, Matthew, and Jackson all laughed through telling their children kept looking to Smith for a translation that he kept shaking his head in the negative about. It probably wouldn’t be here. He’d probably be home, looking forward to the next day where he and Neil would be heading out to do something as friends.

He wouldn’t have Neil’s hand in his like this.

He wouldn’t be smelling dinner slowly stewing in the kitchen and he wouldn’t be looking forward to a Portuguese egg tart that Matthew had wanted to try out. 

He might be at his brother’s home. He closes his eyes and pushes the thought of Aaron out of his mind for now. He’ll deal with Aaron later.

What do you think od Fedyor? Why could he switch sides?

...or why Alina would trust him so fast after he came with that other grishas in S&S. I know he 'saved her life' but...that was literally his job back then xD?

I waited until I finish the second book, because I didn't remember much about Fedyor from books. No wonder- there's very little, but it can be put together and resulting picture is quite different from what Alina seems to see.

As you mentioned- Alina chooses to believe him, because she (surprisingly) realizes she needs to trust ~someone~, and Fedyor "saved her life", so he is easily viewed as "good". She also reasons he wasn't among the Darkling's closest Grisha, likely because he was stationed near borders after they meet. That's pretty weak proof, if we even decide to call it that way.

We get a glimpse of steel underneath Fedya's friendly persona, when they discuss strategy regarding the Apparat:

How is this man pro-monarchy?!

Or- let me rephrase that- how is this man seeking protection of a Grisha supporting the very King he doesn't mind "suffering the people's wrath"?

From these two sentences we can draw up the conclusion he's not exactly a fan of current ruler, so why wouldn't he be on the side that's trying to overthrow him?

Now, people- (read: FanFic writers) often like to imagine use of the Fold was so horrifying, it made him defect to less radical side, but his pragmatism above aside- he didn't seem to shy away from violence during his introduction. When he explained why would he choose to become Heartrender- out of two ways to save lives in war, he chose the less direct one. The one, that pays off in the future, and often isn't viewed as such.

Not to mention Alina's "programme" isn't known, so assuming she'll help anyone only because she's the Sun Summoner, right after she disappeared for several weeks at least...

I have a strong suspicion he was Aleksander's double agent, and he might not even be dead.

He appears just in time to join Alina before she becomes unreachable and impossible to influence behind the walls of Os Alta, offering a story that's believable enough, but never giving more than what's necessary to avoid further questioning. Nikolai is close to realizing that, but he's only concerned about exchange of information.

Fedyor knows about Grisha stationed up north... when he, himself, came from south-east of Os Alta and Alina's group approached it from west. There had to be some sort of contact to learn all that.

As mentioned above- he doesn't strike me as a person, who has a reason to support Alina's side and as for his "death" during the siege- he's a fucking Heartrender. He should be able to fake an injury, should Alina need to see any. And she didn't:

sometimes its so crazy to realize that there's actually a lot of things i like. that i thought i didn't like because i was a depressed teenager. i love being outside! i love swimming! i love talking to people! even strangers sometimes! i love getting dressed in fun outfits and doing makeup! i love reading and going to art museums! i just thought i was doomed forever to a life of complete and total apathy and void! and now look at me! still a little shaky but i'm doing it!!!!!
