Apparently that's a similarity that they share, the Darkling and Alina. They both had shitty, abusive mothers. And in Ana Kuya's case it's pretty much the same. She was physically abusive and Alina and Mal remember her fondly. And that's the problem. Instead of having the characters admit that she was a horrible mother figure, we have them look back on her punishments as something...worth to be remembered fondly??

Let's dive in her most fucked-up moments.

Talking shit about the children she's assigned to look after. Alina and Mal both heard her but she's still an icon in their eyes! 😍

In my opinion, children need mostly love and understanding. But they also need discipline, yes. But NOT through physical violence. NOT through constant screaming. This is wrong but it's very possible that in Ravka it's accepted and forgiven? Because I also remember reading somewhere that when Nikolai was a child and misbehaved, they were punishing his best friend physically (I haven't read the duology so please correct me if I'm wrong). So even the royal family found it normal.

But having the characters look back to it as something that was okay? And they adored her?

I'm sorry but I didn't shed one tear when she died. Botkin's death affected me more than hers ever did.

Love how for the past like 17 months (or however long, I've been looking in this fandom since April), people had Xander be the overly obsessed fan for David. Then Episode 12 released and we completely flipped that around after realizing he's way more obsessed than we ever knew.

In my mind they both ran fan accounts for each other throughout highschool. Then when they actually met, Xander's fan account slowly dwindled in activity until it just died because "This is weird, that's my friend, I shouldn't obsess this much over him.", meanwhile David's just got more active because "That's my friend he's so much better than I thought, better defend even harder.". Then they convinced (forced) him to go to therapy, at which point the account suddenly became dormant until he posted an update six months later apologizing for disappearing and talking about how he realized how this was deeply unhealthy before deactivating the account a week later.

Then y'know memory wipe, killing game, they're both back to when they're 18 not having learned a single thing from the past 4ish years.

today has been a day of procrastinating tma stuff and actually doing irl stuff (my washing! which is always like a four hour ordeal, but finally my favourite hoodis are clean) So, yeah didn't even get done writing things, much less the tma relisten. But I made a promise in the tags of an earlier post that I'd ramble about jontim here, so... I just... I'm sad about them.

Firstly, did you know that MAG 50 - Foundations is the last time we hear Tim and Jon have a good moment together on tape? Barring of course MAG 161. And here it's cracked foundations. Do you know that in MAG 11, Jon says he trusts Tim most of all, for it not to be a joke? Do you know that in MAG 159 Jon's mind immediately jumps to Tim and Sasha when asked where his friends are? They feel like they were friends, really close friends, that just... fell apart. Do you know how it feels to lose your rock. To lose someone you always thought was going to be forever for you? Do you know how it feels to be betrayed, to have someone you thought was your best friend turn on you and hurt you? Do you know how it feels to stand in document storage, and look at each other, and see the person you trusted, and see how it all fell apart, and see fear and mistrust, and see a want to repair things, but it's already too late?

Do you know how it feels to look at the person who represents everything that's wrong about this place, and know that they're the only one you're ever going to trust to be real?

That indicates some level of familiarity between the two. Non-verbal communication of this kind usually requires you to know what the other's thoughts on situation will be. Sure, you can glance at a total stranger and know you think the same, but it's much less common.

He's no rookie. He's either able to figure out the situation by himself, or he was taught what it looks like.

His reaction to Alina's denial is patience and reason. That makes him more thinker than mindless repeater.

To sum up what we've learnt- Alina figured out Fedyor's only good, but not important, because he doesn't have an amplifier and Ivan's the one calling shots.

Both is circumstantial evidence at best.

Ivan and Fedyor are friendly at least.

chapter 7 is probably one of the worst possible maps to try to train gaius on because the wyvern riders hit like trucks and there are a bazillion other enemies with overlapping ranges and he can’t reliably dodge yet OR survive more than one hit, but do i try it every time anyways? yes
