Summary: She's a gold medalist for the British Figure Skating team. They had been friends before they dated; they started dating when they were 16; many would say they're stupid for never breaking up, not when he started racing full-time, not when she went to college and made the Olympic team. Not when he moved to Monaco, where she followed, always flying back and forth; on off seasons, she traveled with him, and he made it to every competition he could. Not many know the intensity of their relationship at all.

Icelyn had sat in front of Lando in the hotel room in Canada for his race this weekend. He was braiding her hair over and over again. Lando would start a braid then undo it only to redo it differently.

It was just a way to pass the time as they waited for something. Also, it gave Lando something to do with his hands that wasn't fiddling with something.

"Lando."

"Yeah, baby," Lando answered.

"Could I take you skating this winter? You make a video out of it," Lyn says as her eyes slip close a little from Lando running his fingers through her hair.

"You just want to see me embarrass myself," Lando says momentarily, stopping his movements and earning a whine from the woman in front of him.

"No, I just want to teach you, but I guess also that. You can handle g-force. Surely you can handle skates," Lyn says as she leans back, allowing Lando to wrap his arms around her shoulders, holding her against him.

"How about if you win another medal, I'll let you put me on skates," Lando says, kissing her temple after he does.

Lyn nods and cuddles closer to Lando, "Sleep."

Lando chuckles at her, "It's two in the afternoon."

"So?" She questions in return as she shifts to be able to get closer.

Lando chuckles and holds her closer still.

There was a period of grace between her ability to get another medal, and in that time, Lando won more races and won the championship in 2025, hoping for the same results in 2026.

But his fiancee, Lyn, is currently face tracking it to another gold medal win for her and the British team.

"And the gold medal goes to... Iclyn Lumi!"

Lyn almost collapses before she makes her way to the 1st place podium on the ice.

She stands on the podium and gets her medal. The two in 2nd and 3rd place congratulate her on the win.

While she's won before, it never feels completely different. It's the same joy, just not the same as the first time.

What's one more medal in her collection? What makes this win all the better is the chance to finally make her fiance get on the ice.

Lyn smiled so widely that she could not stop the tears from running down her face as she got off the ice.

Lyn had been looking forward for over a year to get her fiance on the ice.

When she does, she can't help but ask to turn it into a video and now she's not the only one laughing at her fiance trying to skate.

"Next medal, it can be anything but skating," Lando tells her, because what's just one more going to do?

it was a normal Saturday for everyone else, but for Y/n and Max it was filled with trust, honesty and betrayal. i know you’re thinking ‘what a funny mix of words!’. true. but here’s what happened that night.

it was winter/new years break for the world of Formula 1 and Max had just won his 3rd championship. Max and Y/n were thrilled of course, and the night of his championship was filled with a-lot of lust, if you know what i mean. it was a few weeks later and the couple lay soundly in their bed. Max was stroking Y/n’s hair and face and she fumbled with his fingers. they can’t remember where it first started but somehow they begun talking about their pasts. very traumatic to say the least. Max started with his. talking about the times when his father would get exceedingly angry at Max and the one time he left him at the gas station.

then it moved on to Y/n. she was scared to talk about it and almost backed out. but she knew max wouldn’t tell a soul. it started with when she was 5. “when i was 5 my mother was heavily pregnant with my younger brother. because my parents divorced a few months prior me and my older brother and sister went to my dads. one day my mum really didn’t want me to go to his and when he came to pick me up they were physically fighting over me.” she chuckled. “my dad had me by one arm and my mum had me by the other and were pulling me towards each-other. it was like one of those comedy films” she laughed but Max didn’t. “they were fighting and screaming over me on the drive way. i was scared but i got to my dads fine. a few months later i was at my mums and my younger brother had been born. i was upstairs playing with my monster high dolls and my mum was also upstairs, supposed to be looking after my brother. my older siblings were at my dads at the time. the gate at the top of the stairs wasn’t shut properly and my brother had crawled out of my mum’s room whilst she was watching TV.” Y/n’s face twisted with slight horror and sadness. “H-he fell down the stairs and i heard his cries and large thumps so i ran out my room to see what was going on, hoping my mother hadn’t of hit him. when i saw him lying at the bottom of the stairs i ran down and picked him up, i was struggling since i was only little, and i heard my mum follow me shortly after. she grabbed him from my arms and put him on the couch. thankfully he didn’t break anything or cut himself. i stared at my mum as she stormed towards me. she grabbed me by the arm and got up in my face shouting out about how it was my fault.” Y/n paused, tears welling up in her eyes as she remembered the horrific moment. “then she through me against the radiator. i was crying and scared not knowing why she did it. but i accepted it and let her be angry. the next day i woke up and she came and gave me a kiss. i was confused because i cried myself to sleep thinking she didn’t like me.”

Y/n finished her story with a tear going across her nose bridge due to her lying down and Max was surprised. they hugged all throughout that night sharing kisses and praises between each-other. they were the same, yet they were so different. alas, they were in love.

- there’s a school wide secret gift giving event which is just pure chaos and cuteness as people scramble to get other people gifts even if they don’t really know the person. each name pulled comes with a little something about the person they got for the gift exchange.

- there’s also a year vs. year snowman building/decorating competition (they take it very seriously)

- (people also try and sabotage other years snowman’s so they learn special magic to protect their snowmen.) (meaning if you hear/see someone being shot into the distance, chances are they messed with the 3rd years snowmen.)

- the school is decorated all over with winter decorations like wreathes, colorful string lights, as well as soft snow.

- students go sledding on the hills, having sledding competitions.

- (they also like to have a dorm decorating competition but no one likes to actually talk about it, they just know it’s happening, and they definitely know who is winning, and it’s NOT the other dorms.)

- let’s not even try and act as if there wouldn’t be PLENTY of snowball fights constantly. you’re just minding your own business walking around NCR, when suddenly a cold, wet ball of snow pelts you right in the back of the head. glancing over and that face you love so much just shrugs with a smile, before a full on blur of snow hits them right on that pretty smile.

- it would be utter chaos after a bit, floyd and rook would take it so seriously. like what do you mean rooks snowball basically curved around other people to hit you??? meanwhile floyd’s rolling a snowball so large it would practically knock someone down if thrown.

- you think azul is going to let cold weather and festivities stop him from making money??? absolutely not. he is profiting so hard. hot chocolate? on the menu. oh you’re cold and wanna sit by the fireplace??? $8 please:).

- he makes floyd dress in a santa costume and take photos with students. (sometimes floyd gets really into it, other times you just see a quick flash of blue hair in a santa suit running after a terrified first year)

- jade loves it. adores these times. the snow?? imagine how pretty it looks on mountains right now, or what kind of mushrooms would THRIVE in this. he often wears one of those necklace string lights that are just so tacky, but i mean, who would tell him not to.

- jade loves antagonizing people about the cold. you’re cold? interesting. imagine being in the deep depths of the sea, imagine that coldness:)

- they go around in their regular uniforms, wondering why everyone is such babies about the cold. floyd goes as far as to wear shorts around just to poke at people, what do you mean your cold? he’s literally wearing shorts, you’ll be fine.

ignihyde:

- you think idea wears sweaters too much before it gets cold????? imagine him when it’s cold out, so bundled up, there was barely a chance of getting him to leave his room before, now there’s a zero percent chance.

- ortho wears scarves and little mittens even though he obviously doesn’t have to.

- let’s not forget how idia is secretly trying to outdo all the other dorms. those lights that spell out words and play the theme song to idias favorite shows, who would’ve possibly put those up!!

- idia loves the holidays even if he won’t admit it, geez why do people go crazy. and gifts? who would want a gift from a stranger?

- that is until ortho shows up outside his door, handing him a plate of cookies you made and thought he would enjoy! and uh oh, suddenly his blue hair starts turnings a pale pink.

heartslabyul:

- riddle is also violently bundled up.

- ace is an absolute menace as per usual. yellow snow? he’s either eating it or convincing unsuspecting people to eat it, someone please get him AWAY from deuce.

- deuce is constantly calling him mom telling her he can’t wait to see her soon, and sending her selfies of him all bundled up, he forever feels the need to make up for his past wrongdoings.

- adeuce definitely sneak out and join the other first years for late nights leading competitions, and they all end up back at ramshackle, freezing cold, dying laughing at each other. they even stay up late tracking santa on their phones knowing damn well he’s not real.

- trey makes plenty of cookies and makes sure everyone’s all warm, he’s oddly okay with the cold, just wearing a light jacket and feeling perfectly fine. he gets super annoyed at how his glasses fog up everytime he walks into the cold outside from the nice and toasty inside.

- trey rocks scarves so hard, like cater is so jealous because he thinks scarfs just look so silly on himself.

- speaking of, all the lights? the decorations??? cater is going to have a FIELD DAY with all these perfect backdrops for his magicam.

- ace is buying an elf on the shelf and you CANNOT stop him. and he will most definitely be using it to scare tf outta people. he kept on moving it around when no one was around, freaking riddle out.

- until…ace notices the elf moving spots without him doing it. deuce and ace become absolutely CONVINCED the thing is possessed or alive, meanwhile it’s cater and trey fucking with them.

- cater would even go as far as to make it it’s own magicam account for updates.

- ace is a menace and starts playing holiday music on november 1st. he has no decency. trey tries to bribe him with sweets to at least wait until december (he takes the sweets and plays the music regardless)

pomefoire:

- you have never seen such a well versed winter selection of clothes until you see what vil and rook wear in the winter. vils mitten collection? it would make designers incredibly jealous.

- and then you see epels selection. it’s much…homelier. it’s very cozy!

- vil is not a fan of the cold. it’s just..too cold. he prefers it to be lightly cold but definitely not like this. but he’s not gonna let the cold stop him from shining out within the crowd.

- he will string some nice tinsel up along with some plain colored lights, but definitely not those hideous multicolored ones.

- vil would LOVE hot chocolate but would refuse to ever admit it, denying it instantaneously because what person who respects their body would digest that.

- afterwards though, he will be downing some ginger to cleanse his system a bit.

- epel and rook would INDULGE so hard in hot chocolate

- rook adores holiday, everyone looks so nice and warm he can’t it! compliments are flowing from every angle with this man, your scarf! his mittens! their boots! he’s thrilled and he’s taking note of who seems to be affected more by the cold and who is quite quaint to it.

- epel is taking the first years sledding he couldn’t fathom not doing so. he feels so at home in the cold.

savanaclaw:

- leona hates it. so bad. like why in hell is ruggie basically putting a wreath on leona’s head and giggling about it.

- leona hates the cold so bad, he’d sleep next to the fireplace.

- ruggie hates the cold too, he’s had a few too many unbearable cold nights back home.

- but what he does love? gifts and treats. you’re telling me someone’s gonna give him gifts?? and people are giving treats? he’s over the moon.

- he also can’t wait to give someone a gift, sure he likes his money and is stingy, but he likes to give certain people things, he gets how it is with no money or no gifts. he likes to make other people happy.

- jack loves the cold. adores it. he’s like a human heater, it’s perfect!

- he can’t wait to go sledding with the first years, and loves giving his gifts to people. it embarrasses him a little bit, his cheeks heating up, but as soon as the certain someone tells them he loves it, his tail is going CRAZY. he couldn’t be more happy.

- leona acts like he hates gift giving, just as he hands over the most sincere gift physically possible.

- they have the option of either hats without ear holes, leaving them with cold ears, or they can walk around with hoods/hats on, sticking up in the odd shape it forms around their ears. it’s lowkey adorable but the beastmen hate it.

scarabia:

- kalim is LIVING. all these pretty lights??? giving people things??? he’s so happy. he wants to decorate so much. he would want to give every single person something, i mean, they deserve it!!

- jamil is…less excited. he enjoys the holidays, but only when he’s around people he can actually tolerate.

- if you pass by jamil and he’s wearing a tacky string light necklace with this face :|. just…don’t mention it. but when you pass by a gleaming kalim wearing the same thing, it’s obvious whose idea that was.

- maybe if you can convince one of them, they’ll take the magic carpet out for a spin, flying above the school looking down at all the snow, the decorations, lights, and all the people living life below.

- jamil is freezing cold too. he cannot stand it, this man would walk around in layers on layers, yet he’s still freezing.

- he catches kalim making snow angels and ushers him up because he’s going to get sick.

- lilia is getting everyone matching sweaters. it’s happening as we speak. sure sure they have ones from past years, but they need new ones are you crazy???

- sebek wears his so proudly knowing he matches with lilia and malleus, why does silver need to match them too though.

- malleus wouldn’t completely understand the holiday fuss, but he would love it, everyone seems so happy, humans are so cute! he’s never celebrated like this, would you be so kind as to help malleus decorate his room as you did ramshackle?

- if you ask kindly enough i malleus supposed he could let you decorate his horns as well.

- silver questions who put tinsel around malleus horns while lilia & the mc look away unsuspectingly as malleus just beams.

- sebek absolutely hates the idea of santa. what do you mean a large man comes breaking into homes??? near his malleus??? are you insane?

- silver isn’t the biggest fan of the cold, all indoor places are just so so warm and cozy, he can’t help it as his eyes start to drift close.

- silver will wear the cutest holiday hats, he loves them, the also cant wait to give his gifts, he just hopes the person likes it.

- a little gift exchange is just so cute, they’re just a little fae (and honorary fae) family experiencing human customs, fully embracing it.

ramshackle:

- grim puts poorly wrapped tuna cans under the tree they have set up, but it only last for a few days after mc catch’s grim feasting on them like it’s his last mean.

- we all know he has fur that keeps him well warmed, but that doesn’t mean he’s not gonna parade around in a cute little sweater anyways, come on mc has one just like it after all!

- a gingerbread house?? mc is going to create such a cute house while grim pitches in, and once they finished and mc took a photo, grims bouncing up and down begging to eat it whole.

- the ghosts decorate with tinsel, a tree, lights, and even mistletoe in the entranceway. though ramshackles foundational quality may not be the best, it sure is a sight to see with decorations lining it.

- grim tried his hardest to decorate the tree but it really just looks like a hot mess.

- grim and mc spend the holiday together, they bake cookies, watch holiday movies, even the ghosts join!

- they have a present exchange, and they video call some people they’re missing a bit too much.

- guess mc just has to invite her favorite people over to help her fix it! would sure be a shame if mc caught a certain someone at the entranceway under the mistletoe.

❥⋱G- Gift: What did he get you?

Now, it took Yuuji a little time to decide on the perfect gift for you, because we all know our baby is a little dumb and doesn’t actually know much about what girls like. Of course, he had to drag Megumi and Nobara along for this little impromptu shopping trip, much to their (Megumi’s) disinclination. 

So, as they’re strolling through the Tokyo shopping district, Yuuji's thinking hard about what you might like.

“Oh, there’s a video store! Let’s go in here!” 

Megumi scowls immediately and Nobara is very tempted to slap the pinkette upside his head.

“Idiotdori, this is why girls don’t like you.” Nobara told him after following through with slapping him upside the head. Yuuji grimaced and rubbed the bump that was beginning to form through his messy pink locks.

“Y/N likes me…”

“An unfortunate revelation for her, I’m sure.”

Yuuji just decided to let that last comment fly and look around the store. Posters advertising the latest release of his favorite movie, Human Earthworm, were strewn up on the walls, which gave him an idea.

Since Valentine’s Day was right around the corner, the store had a little display shelf of romantic movies set up near the checkout counter, ranging in genres from comedy to horror. How a horror movie can be romantic, well, just ask Yuuji.

He approached the display, started picking though the titles, and came upon a strategically placed box of those friendship necklaces where one person wears half the heart and gives the second half to their significant other.

“Why are you getting her a friendship necklace, she’s your girlfriend.” Nobara chastised as Yuuji went to the counter with his armload of purchases.

“She’s also my best friend, so I think it’s a fitting gift!” The pink-haired male retorted, sticking his tongue out. Megumi was just here so he didn’t get fined.

Gojo then appeared out of thin air, giggling at how flustered Yuuji looked while he waited his turn in line, and even offered to pay for everything. Yuuji declined politely because this was going to be your first Valentine’s Day together and he wanted to do it himself.

Yuuji decided to give you your gifts during the Valentine’s Day party Gojo threw for the class (and had catered and everything)

He approached you with a shy disposition; unusual for him, but he was nervous that you wouldn’t like his gifts.

“Y/N! I got you this!” Yuuji thrust a big, rectangular white box with a light pink satin ribbon tied around it into your arms. 

You stumbled back a bit with an ‘oof’ - the box was pretty heavy!

“I really hope that you like it!” He bowed his head with his cheeks tinted pink.

Walking over to your desk, you moved your Valentine cards and gifts from Megumi and Nobara to the side and set the box down. Upon opening it, you let out a soft gasp: inside the box laid a bouquet of small pink tulips, reminiscent of Yuuji’s hair color; the necklace, an assortment of DVDs, and multiple movie snacks.

Your eyes widened as you looked at the arrangement of everything, the time and thought that he had to put into this to make it look nice for you. First, you picked up the necklace, and a soft smile adorned your face as you read what it said.

“Best Friends Forever.”

“Flip it over.” Yuuji now stood next to you, watching with careful eyes.

On the back, one side of the necklace was engraved with his initials and the other yours. 

“We can each wear the opposite, so we’ll always have a piece of each other’s heart.” He said, sounding so cute.

Your throat started to get scratchy; you had to swallow so you didn’t end up crying. Still your voice wobbled a bit,

“Yuu, I love this, and you got…Human Earthworm, all five of them, wow..” You laughed while subtly trying to blink away the tears.

“So…you like it?” Yuuji asked with his honey-gold eyes blown wide.

“I love it. This is so thoughtful; thank you, baby. I can’t wait to watch all of them with you.”

12/23: Mars Moonwalks All Over Me

Hello Starlings,

I’m writing to you from the job I’m sure I’ll lose in a month. 2 months tops. I’ll be surprised if I make it through the entire Mars rx transit. Hoping I do because there are few things a Capricorn sun loves more than a consistent check.

I received a kiss of death on Friday - an incoming PIP once we get back from break in January. Their preliminary micro-management has been little help and a lot more of the same corporate bullshit - unrealistic expectations, nitpicking, disclosing my neurodivergence to other teams without my consent. I’ve been silently critical and anti since onboarding, quiet quitting after their third strike with me (TWO late checks) - so I’m not surprised. I’m also no fool - despite my supervisor’s reassurance that there are people on our team who have come off a PIP stronger than ever - almost nobody survives a PIP. After the news, I pivoted from my task list to a LinkedIn job search.

Yesterday I listened to Chris Brennan’s 2025 horoscope for scorpio ( my rising) and he mentioned that this mars retrograde would be going on for the first couple months of the year. It will move from Leo back into Cancer until February 23rd. For us unlucky winter babies born at the top of the year, we’ll carry this moonwalking mars with us through the rest of our year via our solar returns.

For us Scorpio & Aries risings, Mars is our chart ruler - so mars transits are really nothing to play with. Right ahead of the current mars retrograde in Leo - an Aries rising girlfriend of mine abruptly lost a gig for reasons that amount to little more than bullshit. “we love you but…” The longer I listened to her detail the few working days before she got the boot - the more clear it became that she was punished for shining a little too hard. Leo represents shine. I imagine the retrograding Leo mars was right on top of her 5H Leo moon.

Despite the fearmongering, retrogrades are truly not all that scary. In explaining them to the uninitiated, I often lean emphasizing the RE in retrograde. RE-do, revise, rethink, replenish, review, readjust, recreate, relax, remember, rebrand, request, and so on. Retrogrades are part cosmic do-overs, part command for caution. Part of what makes mercury retrogrades so distressing is that our world runs on communication - during a retrograde it becomes much easier to make a blunder that initiates a terrible game of telephone in your life. A Mars retrograde however, can be even more frustrating. It stops forward movement, strips away whatever it is you got going on in the house it is transiting, and yanks you backward. Your energy levels decrease. you feel fuzzy & unorganized, you try to spring forward but something always blocks your movement. Mars rx is calling you to rest & re-strategize. Its a good time to make new plans.

It’s worst manifestation, to me, is the level of inward aggression you can feel with no explanation or proper outlet. I recall one Mars rx transit where I was just pissed. I grew up depressed af, which mars rx can exacerbate given it makes the right aspects to your natal chart, but this was worse. I wanted to fight anyone and everyone, though I knew I couldn’t without reason. And no matter what, I could not focus on anything but frustration. After days of feeling like shit, I opened my astro app to see that mars was retrograding right on top of my natal mars in aquarius - to the degree. From a placidus perspective, it was in the 3rd house - the house of the conscious mind & communication. Be wary of internalizing and carrying around frustration & disappointment during this time, not having an outlet for the increased stressed does you zero good. But, be mindful of how you externalize - consequences for impulsive, aggressive acts is twofold.

In Chris’ video - he mentioned that the retrograding mars, happening in the 10H for us Scorpio risings, represented a turning point in the story of our career. I can only hope he’s right. This year feels like a string of missed opportunities at a strong pivot. But I guess this could be a second chance.

When I received news of my PIP, transiting mars was in my 9H (placidus), 10H (whole signs) of career opposing (stressful connection) my natal mars (ruling my 6H of routine work), and the rest of my stellium in aquarius. Not supportive for keeping a day job, from a whole signs perspective, this rx mars in my 10H is looking at my natal mars and saying “damn b*tch, this really what you want?” From a placidus one, this mars is transiting my 9H of belief & perspective, telling my natal mars that I might be thinking too small. I know it - I left my other media job this year to find my creative self & succumbed quickly to the fear of financial insecurity - blocking most progress I could have made. Leo is a sign of fearlessness - eschewing the idea of sacrificing authenticity for security, as it knows no true security can come from not living in alignment with what you really want.

Transiting rx Mars was also making a trine (beneficial connection) to my natal moon in Sagittarius (ruling my 9H of belief). In my chart, my moon is in the 1st house of self from a placidus perspective - signaling that the change from this retrograde will benefit my true self. From a whole signs perspective, my sag moon is in the 2H of worth & value - signaling that forthcoming change in career, may not only benefit me financially, but also my confidence in the long run. Once mars moves back into cancer, it’ll be in my 9H of higher learning. I’ve already planned on using my time off to upskill, complete a certification that will help me on my job search. Only time will tell.

First library book of the year: Old Country, by Matt and Harrison Query

Genre: horror

Summary: Sasha and Harry, a young married couple, finally buy the house of their dreams in a remote valley near the Tetons... only to find out that their land is inhabited by a spirit. Guided by their elderly neighbors, they deal with each seasonal manifestation of the spirit and their own feelings about it.

Rating: eh... maybe 2/5?

I picked this one up bc it said it was based on a Reddit story, so I figured it'd either be good (I've been known to enjoy a Reddit creepypasta) or entertainingly bad; it was neither. My overall feeling about it is a solid Meh.

The writing and characters were aggressively bland and all felt like stock archetypes. The closest thing any of them had to a personality was Harry's constant aggression, which hit a hilarious yet disturbing high when Sasha uneasily recalled the time he spiked a raccoon into the gutter so hard it died because it startled her. Technically, this is a meaningful character flaw that first leads him to taunt the spirit, earning its wrath and getting his friendly old man neighbor killed, which he then overcomes at the end in order to banish the spirit. But it's just so boring.

The whole seasonal ritual thing sounds very much like it was lifted from a half-assed Reddit post that worked better as a pseudo-listicle and not at all as a full length novel. "When you see a light in the pond in spring, light a fire; when you see a bear chase a naked man in summer, don't let him get you" and so on. There's an attempt at making these moments feel tense and scary but it mostly comes in the form of the characters saying "this is SO tense and scary" in their narration.

Every chapter seems to largely consist of a montage of Harry and Sasha being happy with their haunted property. In the hands of a better writer, this could have worked as a jarring contrast to the sudden intrusion of the spookiness, but instead it just undercuts any horror or tension.

The two of them constantly keep secrets from each other, then get upset with each other and agree - in tedious conversations that bear only a passing resemblance to human speech - to stop keeping secrets, then keep more secrets. This never has any meaningful impact on the plot or their relationship.

They find out that if they try to leave, they'll be killed by the spirit, and agree that it would be unethical to have a child there because the child would be stuck without a choice. Then Sasha finds out she's pregnant after randomly puking one (1) time in the morning and decides to keep the kid and find a way to defeat the spirit.

They have a Shoshone neighbor named Joe whose family has dealt with the spirit for a long time, from whom all the info about it comes (secondhand, because they don't meet him until the last 3rd or 4th of the book.) Somehow in the thousands of years his people have lived in the area and alongside this spirit, none of them figured out that the key to defeating the spirit was radical acceptance of its winter manifestation, which is being haunted by the ghosts of whoever you've killed in a really incredibly lame ghost movie way. Luckily for him, these white people figure it out because Sasha is just so loving and accepting of her traumatized veteran husband and also wants to have his baby SO bad.

It feels like any one of the dozens of highly forgettable Netflix horror movies I've watched while barely sentient. Would not recommend but isn't even bad enough to enjoyably roast.

I thought about Heir to Light recently and realized it's been like half a year since it finished! (Time flies. How is it almost 2025.) In light of this revelation I will ask: what was your favorite scene/chapter to write? What was the most challenging?

I’m having trouble choosing! I think, as for the chapter I love to reread, it’s Chapter XVII because Garreth and Kendra finally kiss. I love reading that chapter because it’s such a nice catharsis to all their conflict. But, that’s not the question lol. As for writing…

Chapter III and V were my first favorites! I remember, early on, really enjoying writing those. See, I had a draft of Heir to Light up until the 2nd or 3rd chapter sitting in my docs for an about a year until I showed it to @carolinelikesdinner and they encouraged me to continue. She also gave me the idea for a treehouse! And writing Garreth and Kendra getting to know each other was so fun and adorable. Those chapters made me really excited to continue writing.

Also, I really loved writing Chapter XV when Ronodin enters not as a character of the past, but someone actively working with them. He’s absolutely hilarious. And not serious, which is so fun to contrast against Kendra who naturally is more poetic and moody about most things. It also was fun to write his and Garreth’s relationship considering how fraught Garreth and Kendra were at the time. Truthfully, Ronodin is fun to write in any fic, at any time.

Finally, the last chapter XX was so gratifying to write, and I had so much fun. I love the ending. I used seasons a lot in the story. They leave Fablehaven during fall, have the most hardship during winter, but the story leaves them in spring for their new beginning.

Plus, the chapter right before that, from Garreth’s point of view is such a sweet homecoming. I love that one so much. They’re like my babies and I had to let them go. I really liked the line “Their futures were bright and they would ride out the twilights together. “ because they will!!!

As for challenging chapters, anything that had a fight scene was always annoying to write for me. But, it’s funny because the most challenging chapters to write end up becoming my favorites to read. Like, the Chapter XVII above or Chapter XIX when Kendra faces the Sphinx and Garreth dies. You guys are lucky, though, that he came back to life, because in the original outline he was straight up supposed to die. But, I got too attached and couldn’t do it. Instead, I killed Muriel (sorry girl!).

Chapter IX when Garreth finds out about Kendra’s magic was also hard to write, but mostly so hard to decide how I wanted it to go! I had two main versions: the one in the fic and one where he saves her. But, I ended up wanting conflict between them (I had just broken up so this was also probably some projection), and I liked the idea of Garreth and Eve being different in their reaction to magic and that being directly related to their relationship with their father.

Anyway, thank you so much for the question! I loved writing this fic so much. They took up so much space in my head I could probably talk about it for hours.

It's christmas card season in this fundielicious sims world, and in an effort to include more side characters and go back to my roots, I decided to pose a few families for christmas cards. I also did the cliche thing of using said christmas cards to announce a few pregnancies. This will have the 3rd person narration of the families, the actual captions that they'll use on their simstagram post will come later with said simstagram post after this.

Maggie and Shane are not ones to miss putting out a yearly christmas card, ever since they got married almost 10 years ago it's been a tradition. Their first christmas card together was also Maggie's debut in pants on recorded media, hows that for a fun fact. They're enjoying life with their toddlers, both are working and have them in a christian daycare during the day. They're not going on their yearly ski trip with Reece and Stacie this year, so they'll be celebrating the holiday season with Shane's relatives so that they can get a city break. There's no pregnancy announcement from these guys, and honestly we can't be sure when the next one will be, though they do have one final child to add to the family before they'll consider it complete. Maybe once the kids start officially going to school and have more independence.

Our favourite political family are announcing a pregnancy this holiday season! Colton working as the districts conservative representative means that their lives are a lot more central to Windenburg, Brittany is homeschooling Nicole and apparently they thought now was the best time to have another child. Secretly (but no so secretly) almost everyone wants this baby to be a boy, it's always tied into talk about carrying on the family name and generational blessings and all that. Whilst Brittany just wants a healthy baby (and might want a boy a bit more than another girl), she can't forget the example of her cousin Adalynn. She and her husband Mason had 8 boys in a row before having a little baby girl, and Brittany is definitely not having that many children, so she's not letting herself get too hung up on what this baby will be.

Our resident reproducers are back at it again, this time with kid number 12. The pregnancy announcement isn't new to the family, but they decided to throw it in to announce it to the friends and family that live far away and. Their house is just controlled chaos at this point, and with each kid they just slot right in. So far their prayer point for the quarter is expanding their house (and i keep forgetting to plan out what those posts will look like) This new baby will make their appearance by Harvestfest, so Kyleigh is about to be pregnant through yet another summer - poor her. Not that it's ever bothered her enough to stop getting pregnant.

Zoe and her latin lover are steadily pumping out these children, they're going on four years of marriage and by their 4th anniversary will be on their way to 3 kids under 5. They've been enjoying Windenburg life, being able to see Zoe's sister Amira and her husband quite often as they live close by so they've created their own little routine. Along with seeing family when they visit WIndenburg or when they take small trips, they've really been enjoying life. For Christmas they're staying in Windenburg for their last winter there and Francisco's family will come visit.

Now we go back to our regularly scheduled programming!

Just thinking about Concept Alvis.

His story line works well for keeping Al in the current sonic timeline. So no one changes age or is a year older but it's only in the future not that far

And I don't have to mess with the sonic story line

Main Alvis was around for the metal virus but was just 8 and to test how obedient Alvis becomes

While Concept would of been there as a active 3rd eye. Roaming around still immune to the virus, being not old really but like Shadow looks like he's in his teens

The are 2 concepts

1 he escapes as a little one and manages to be found by team sonic

Or he is around the same look as he is but his become hero would play out diffrent

This would work the same with this art peace.

The story I'm going with till has him for a period of time being in a tank as his body changed

But if he was Concept he was made in a lab

From test tube to the tank that he dose brake out of. Or brakes but lays in the bottom

These concept vertions would still have his brother Darius who dosnt make a appearance in the main story

But was a main villain!

And Al was as powerful but was a device. The UL2.0 Disruptor (Ultimate Lifeform 2.0 Disruptor) and would be able to target pacific creatures Eggman made. Alvis and Darius being one

This device would be held by Eggman and Daruis. Making Alvis powerless. Only having his normal physical strength and speed and fly with his 2 tails and IQ. But! His Teloporting, Speed, Strength and regeneration would stop when he is in a radius of the UL2.0 Disruptor...

But this device would be also the end of Darius as the be a fight to the death by the end of Darius story.

Alvis and Darius fight. No powers but the hole fact Alvis had these moments of not using his powers and being more resistant to pain came out on top.

Would be only a page would just be a "BANG" of the gun and. That be a hole black page with just the word

Then Alvis turning the Disruptor off and while Al regenerates his brother doesn't

Having Al brake the device as the weight of his brother is gone and he's the reason of it

2nd: Blood money, i love this fic, no one else seems to, which is okay (not counting you here love if you decided to get on tumblr today and saw this) i'm still writing it but i abandoned it for ao3 as of rn.

1st!: corrupt, easy answer, it's such a fun fic, explores lots of tropes and ideas, plus gold gets to be a TR executive lol and you get my shitty sex scenes every few chapters lol

an interesting piece of information is that i wrote a total of 114,532 (as of today) more this year than last year butttttt i didn't start posting until July of 2023, so halfway through the year. which means i probably would have been about 471k+ had I had the same trajectory as last year. There are a few reasons for that, 1. i got a promotion at work (baby girl is D level!!) which means unfortunately you know more work 2. I am really only publishing finished work with the exception of blood bank/corrupt 3. this only counts published work, my word count in my in progress fics is huge, i've written way more this year than last just not published 4. last year i spent 14 days in the hospital with pneumonia where all i did was write and be high on cough syrup (fun fact, blood bank was created during this time i wrote the first 4 chapters while hoping i didn't die lmao), I also had significantly more hits last year, again I'm blaming that on my switch away from reguri.

I did manage to meet some amazing people this year due to my writing so i'll count it a win (hi bb ily marry me plsssss)

Lots of stuff coming in 2025, Im hoping to hit 500k in published words, hoping to finish a good portion of the drafts I have sitting waiting on editing/scenes, I'm going to explore some themes from the manga, going to publish some more cringe (hanahaki/soulmate/omega yall know i eat that shit up), going to improve my porn skills, and hopefully publish a lot for corrupt and blood bank

A note about blood money...

I completely forgot to ask!

With how much Kei suffered when coming to Gotham with all the smells etc. how is Kakashi handling it? Is the mask built in with seals? Honestly I thought he’d be the first to complain or feel overwhelmed.

Also also, I know Kei is stressed about which comic book run she’s in, did she actually have a favorite character? I always wonder about this a bit, eg, going to One Piece world would be terrifying, but also I’d probably be a bit starstruck at meeting the Straw Hats. Any moment like that for Kei? At meeting BATMAN or any of these cool characters?

After wearing a mask for three years, I'd say that the model Kakashi is using now helps cut even the city's terrible scent input by a fair margin. He did know Gotham was a city, after all. That said, he does still notice the problem. It's why Batman was able to get so close without being kicked off the roof.

The main continuity that Kei actually remembers "well" (inasmuch as it qualifies) is the Justice League cartoon from 2000. DCAU, where there were only ever two Robins and both were effectively banned from the universe by DC policies against having more than one show featuring a given character (since it was running concurrently with the 2002 Teen Titans cartoon). This story is very clearly not that, so it doesn't help. Even if it did, that version of Bruce Wayne sorta...gets more >:| the more you think about the implications.

Even meeting Obito--who was eight at the time--was a moment of pure "oh fuck no." Hayate was like that too, but he was a baby and then Kei got attached and here we are.

Some rando who commented on Ocean Stars Falling ages ago called Kei an ignoramus for not knowing who Ace was immediately after entering One Piece. And I just sat there, thinking, "You do not have the slightest idea how much your bias is coloring your idea of what media a given human being in our modern society might be even passingly familiar with." I didn't know who Ace was before the pirate collaboration idea with @ffs-abalisk came up.

And if Kei did know who the hell Ace was at the time she met him, that would've probably inspired her to get it the fuck out of there immediately.

my best guess at the belcher family birthdays based on small things we were told/shown in canon:

linda was born june 3rd

bob was likely born sometime in april (both of his birthday episodes were released in late april which isnt STRICT evidence but its a big coincidence) and considering the kids weren't in school in either episodes he would probably be born during spring break. it probably changes every year depending on what days are weekends but for the purpose of having a definitive date im gonna say

bob was born april 22nd

gene is canonically a sagittarius (november 22nd to december 21st) and this checks out bcuz we see him as a newborn baby in their family christmas card. however he definitely isn't a NEWBORN newborn so he was likely born in late november and obviously we can't know an exact date (for any of them) but

gene was born november 27th

(fun fact this also means gene was probably conceived on valentines day!!! yayy)

linda was pregnant with louise during their christmas card photo and she looked about seven or eight months pregnant. definitely on her third trimester meaning louise was born in january or early february. obviously we don't get much mention of louise's birthday in the show so im going to go ahead and say

louise was born february 4th

WE KNOW tina was born during the school year bcuz in her birthday episode she gives out invitations to all her classmates at school and that couldn't have been more than a week before her party so that means she couldn't have been born anywhere near spring break, winter break or summer vacation (sorry summer baby tina truthers) we also have another reference to her birthday in the season 12 finale when linda is worried about what to get tina for her birthday and we also see tina is going to school during this episode. we don't have too much in those episodes that points to a specific season other than it NOT being winter (bcuz tina is wearing her warm weather clothes) but considering both her siblings are winter babies i like to think that tina was born in late spring :) maybe sometime in may but before school is over for summer vacation (and we know it cant be too close to school getting out for summer vacation bcuz thats referenced very heavily in the movie)
