Sculpted a few Stephen busts for uni :] I would've liked to add more detail to their clothes, but alas I had to rush the thing. More angles and the individual ones under the cut! :D

cloth sim is still cooking, i ran into some issues but when i went to bed last night i thought up 2 different solutions so i bet i can make it work today
#my dreams are so messed up now its all weird 3D workflows#i fall asleep i dream about rigging#i remember also dreaming about cloth texturing so theres that#but now that the control rig is working i can also do a final pose for presentation!#and im working on a little animation cinematic sequence with a friend :3#gonna be very cool!!#my art

now i have to learn how to rig at least she's cute
#blender 3d#3d model#my arts#hatsune miku#i never liked rigging much#rigging hair is ok but i always struggled with body and clothes but my experience comes mostly from mmd/pmx rigging so not very helpful her#but hey i learned how to do a projected texture today so that's neat#thank you “Bringing a Galaxy Girl to Life in Blender” i would not be here without you#btw she's Miku from the song “mochimochi” by TAK#i liked how she looked in the video she's very cute#i will probably add a bit of detail on the apron it looks a bit too plain rn

#i will NOT make cos animations in blender. i will NOT. I NEED TO MAKE THE COMIC FIRST. blender is for backgrounds for the COMIC.#but if i was i do have a friend who has their major in editing who would be down to get the very specific effect i am imagining for the ski#and clothes where it overlays a moving watercolor texture with masks. since i was thinking of how to do that in blender and it could be don#but not one that Moves. just one that is stagnant. BUT I WONT!!!!!!!#i might make sculpts of the characters at a much later date because i am getting a LOT of enjoyment out of 3d. but i won't try to make them#rigged or anything. will probably paint the textures on and leave it at that#...... but what if i did rig them and optimize the textures for moving...... BUT I WONT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea what they were in middle of, but whatever it was.... well, they're not now 🤭
I don't think I've ever done a tour of R'alma's apartment here (I definitely should soon) but they like to enjoy all the little nooks and crannies as much as possible.
#ffxiv#gposers#ktisis pose#reshade#wolnpc#wolgraha#r'alma/g'raha#r'alha#I actually really like the way these came out#I've been experimenting for a while now on doing my own shaders#and I think it's really elevated the quality of my gposes#the only thing I don't do at this point is my own clothing mods I guess lol#and hair mods#okay anything that's actually messing with 3D models scares me#i can screw with lighting or textures all day long tho

A little update on rigging Connor's model
Damn, rigging this model became such an obsessive thing... I found some more variations of this model with unfucked jaw and hair. But I don't understand this fucking thing about every single one of those posted models having slightly different variations of textures/uv maps. Like it was exported a couple of different times by different people and none of them managed to export ALL the related textures. Today I discovered a couple more textures that I previously didn't know about and finally realised what some of them are used for, successfully plugged them in and now it looks a little bit better.
Today I rigged upper body and added IK controllers for legs. Also unfucked bone roll so thar rig would be able to deform symmetrically. Upon testing the deformations of legs I realised that legs may require corrective weight-paint, but I'll deal with that later (btw I kept the original deformation bones untouched, just separated them on layers and parented to my rig which I am building on top of it)
Face rig is something I decided to leave until I finish the body. I realised shape keys is wrong way to approach it and deleted the ones I already made. The better way would be to use action constraints with animations made with original face bones. Or at least it seems like a better way, actually I'll probably combine both methods to some extent.
If I manage to actually fully rig this model, I'll become some rigging guru, I swear...
#I have no idea who am I talking to as I'm literally new on tumblr#no one gives a fuck about rigging but I just want to share it as it's my new obsession#if at some point of rigging this model I'll finally find out that someone in fact already did it I'll fucking die#but no it doesn't seem like someone did because otherwise we would see a lot more renders or even animations with this model#dbh 3d models#dbh connor#also it pisses me off that threre is no actual body under the clothes#which is totally understandable for a game model#but among variations of those textures I've actually seen diffuse textures for legs and wtf#where does he actually show legs in the game#really fucking mysterious texture#there are actually more mysteries#maybe I'll make a post about them all

10 and 15?
10. What’s that one thing that inspired you to make drawing your consistant hobby?
Outside of nature itself lol, videogames and cartoons were also up there. I thought the Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry styles were 'easy' enough for a kid to recreate at the time, which is funny considering they're iconic and hard to recreate characters. As far as the continued hobby goes, it's just much easier to communicate metatextual ideas and memes through visual art than it is to explain things in writing, at least for me. The Mona Lisa's smile makes for many interpretations despite not knowing anything about her.
15. Biggest artist pet peeve?
TAing mellowed me out as far as that goes, the only thing that pisses me off is when artists/patrons gatekeep their genres. It's just unfun for the whole family and actively harms would-be artists in the long run. I also have issues with art teachers that make biased judgements against children trying to use a style they like or struggling to understand, due to it 'distracting from the lesson', because if they bothered to learn anything about them, you can actually use that information to your benefit and remain engaging for the students to learn through that medium. They also need to get better at explaining the 'How and Why' behind those traditional art lessons. For a college student it's pretty clear erasing charcoal is meant to be a lesson on controlling negative space, for a child it feels like a lesson in frustration and wrist smudging.
TL;DR I have more problems with the factory system of artists than I do art... things, itself.
#ask memes#FNAF kid? Introduce them to texturing and thinking on a 3d space#Minecraft kid? Using cubic skeletons to figure out foreshortening and sketching#RPG kid? The physics of cloth and drawing the elements#Anime? Practice reflective metal hairflow and motion-intense art#It's not difficult to come up with ways to still teach things if teachers bothered to take them seriously#Though it's unfortunate the art lesson plan is really restrictive as it is
