Bahaha, so here's the other surprise package from my friend, Rae. It's a busted Namihu BJD Creatures Astarion she purchased from them during that charity drive for the dog that ended up dying anyway and HOOOBOY.

Apparently Rae hadn't even opened this package when it arrived since she was busy getting last minute stuff ready for Resin Rose so we have no idea how busted it was prior to her deciding to give it to me, but uh...dayum. Even his little dagger didn't make it in one piece (that I can glue back together though, most likely).

Honestly, even if it didn't arrived broken, this is still such a janky fucking doll. I cannot believe someone would charge people money for this garbage. I've been in the hobby for 15+ years and have owned and handled probably 80+ dolls from various makers and this is by far the worst body I've ever come across. This thing makes Resinsoul bodies seem like a dream in comparison. Absolutely unacceptable level of quality for the amount of cash Namihu charges. Genuinely embarrassing.

On top of the poor joint design, there are tons of cracks everywhere from the printing process. If this is the norm for 3D printed dolls, it's no wonder some faceup and modding artists don't accept commissions for them.

ALSO ALSO, learn how to properly wrap a fucking doll for shipping, Namihu. The taped up monstrosity I opened up was atrocious.

Counting my blessings I didn't bother commissioning Namihu for my CP2077 character's doll head, and it straight up was because the headback looked funky to me in what few pictures they have posted of it. It seemed like it'd have very limited head movement and I was absolutely correct. On top of that, because of how it was designed, it leaves scratches on the front of the neck lmao.

Printed the Dollightful / Moonlit Jewel Dolls Bunny BJD at 150% yesterday! Learned a little more about not breaking supports off and sanding them off instead (one trimming) to avoid getting little pits in the resin. The ABS-like resin I used also scuffs horribly, so I'm definitely going to need to look into other options. Also, I need to make little posts for the hands so that they can attach.

My Peachdaydreams David kit arrived last week!! I have, uh, promptly lost one of his shoulder pieces (RIP ME) but HE'S SO PRETTY... Have this belated box opening of sorts. And bonus comparison to boyfriend and daughter...!

anyway i finished my first attempt at a body blush on my 3d printed doll i also re-did the faceup bc i wanted to shade it more and use some techniques i hadnt used on my original attempt, as well as more details (like the ear veins :3 )

zephyr update: i re-printed her head (first one was too small...) and printed a leg last night! right now i'm waiting on one of her arms to print atm and while i was waiting i did a faceup and some very quick/subtle body blushing and freckles

lastly i just need to print her other leg tonight and the last arm tomorrow and then she's done!!!!! (with printing at least...) i also have my elastic coming in tomorrow :^)

I had a lot of pain with the painting process so I kinda dropped the ball and never posted about my new boy.

Despite all, I'm much more happy with the face up then with what I did for Ivar and I tried making my own eyes this time cause I couldn't find a set exactly like what I wanted.

TWP: OOAK

For those who don't know what an OOAK means: It stands for One of a Kind, and applies to customized dolls. After having purchased a 3d printed BJD from Etsy (further review down below), I customized it to look just like Gwenneth the pink goblin.

As for the base doll- it's a Kobalin from the French Etsy store- Nekotaku. As a regular Nekotaku customer, I can give a fair review of the overall product quality: Pros -She's such a generous sweetheart, from buttons to even an extra tiny BJD, I always get gifts when I order from her. -She has a pretty wide range of animal and fantasy creature BJDs that are quite suitable for OC purposes. I remember at least one other review mentioning they use a doll of hers for OC purposes. -That person also mentioned she'd let them customize certain bits so she does that too if you ask -She can hold quite a decent sale. Cons -Her store constantly refreshes from stock and available to order dolls. If you have seen a design of hers you like, buy it fast or you might need to wait a year or two before she has it for sale again. I am looking at a certain octopus doll right now. -Her printing quality isn't that high. If you want great printing quality but like fantasy dolls I'd recommend you to check out Quirky Critters instead. She's my other go-to shop for 3d printed BJDs.

Making good progress on the test print of this guy! I did a once-over with some automotive filler to start filling the layer lines from the print. I’ll probably print him at around 40cm eventually. He’s Barbie-sized right now.

Long way to go, but it’s fun to hold him! Now for tons and tons of sanding!

A while back I adopted a couple of super cute fnaf glamrock OC’s designed by @starlit-bug and have been practicing making ball-jointed dolls out of them. I’ve got a test print running right now but I’m sure it’ll need some tweaking.

Haven’t decided if the tail should be strung or more of an outfit piece yet. He’ll look so different once printed/sanded/painted and dressed, but this has been a fun project! Mostly putting this here as a log of progress.

Next on the list are lots of Sun and Moon variants.

This will be a Redwall-inspired stylized mouse) One day) Maybe) For now this needs a lot of editing. Knees and hips don't work the way I intended them to.

Currently commissioning a custom 3d printed BJD of one of my characters n I'm so excited for her, but I'm kind of anxious too. I used to be in the hobby nearly a decade ago before falling out of love with it, and I think I'm falling back into it again, but im kind of scared of people being jerks about my doll because she's an OOAK. Yknow? It's probably silly to worry, but with how weird people could be about brands back in the day and even today? it makes me anxious.

My Frappzilla bat arrived yesterday but I don't know which face I want them to have! I had somewhat planned to do something galaxy themed so the star would be cute but the other faces are also cute!

Also.... How well does 3d printed resin dye? 😬😅 Guess we're gonna find out!

And he's painted! I got a little impatient and strung him anyway >> not sure how well the sueding will hold up but overall he looks great! Magnet for his tail will be here tomorrow and I have a friend I've commissioned for his robes.

I'll have a Lambert to go with him, too, but I'm still waiting on the modded Sheepy head.
