Day 1038 - 1041 (2 years, 308 - 311 days)
Tumblr media
Hee-ho! Hope you are doing alright!
So, last season ended. New event started.
Got a whopping 96 candles from the surplus of seasonal candles I had. ^^
Days of Style is back!
Tumblr media
I do like that there is a new outfit to take! And that hair accessory looks really neat! ^^
The catwalks are back and they even have new places! Hope there is one in Eden again. >:]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nice to see the season spirits return to watch the show.
You know the drill. You get a theme from the guide, you assemble an appropriate outfit and walk along the catwalk to make a shared memory.
This time the theme was an outfit for a hike in the hills.
Tumblr media
Always happy to come up with outfits! I really like using the recommended cosmetics because that sparks ideas! ^^
With this event the developers also changed how you gather tickets. Instead of finding whole tickets scattered around, there are now these light fragments spawning in one place. Similar to candle wax. You now collect enough of those to craft a ticket.
But you can only gather enough for four tickets. The last one you get from watching someone else's catwalk memory. A total of five per day.
I don't like this change. It just means you are gonna stand there for ten minutes, gathering light fragments just to craft all the tickets per day.
Tumblr media
The system with whole tickets being scattered around was so much better. The floating symbols for tickets were also adorable!
I don't know anyone who complained about the old system. So I don't know why the developers changed it. Typical devs... change for the sake of change...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also got a couple new quests. One of them was taking a picture of a gondola for the Forgetful Storyteller.
Problem was that they were already activated. So the spot where the game wanted me to take a picture was empty. X]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pride winged light!
Also never knew but if you manage to perfect the song in the Harmony Hall then your Skykid starts to glow. ^^
And that's that. I will definitely take screenshots of all the outfits I make. Let me know if you like any of them! :D

prismatic bell is shamelessly doing genocide denial again (archive org version), with some points such as:
'the keffiyeh is a symbol of arab colonialism'
'Every civilian killed is a travesty to be laid on Sinwar’s bloody hands. But…it’s actually also REALLY GOOD for urban warfare'.
no amount of 'it's tragic, i know it sucks, it's heatbreaking' will make up for the fact that xe LITERALLY SAID THERE IS A 'GOOD' AND 'PROPORTIONATE' NUMBER OF DEAD CIVILIANS. including children and babies. and this is right after xe called them colonisers.
xe's still desperately trying to deny the death toll. 'the numbers as given have been proven false. Someone was literally able to show they’re generated with a math formula. (I have articles backing this up, but again, will have to add when I’m off mobile, sorry.)'
also known as 'i can't add more sources right now, but i DEFINITELY have them!' (uses memri tv as a source)
'actually it's completely legal for israel to target hospitals because they fabricate evidence of weapons in those hospitals.' who's going to tell xir about how the iof mistook an arabic calendar for a list of names. also, legality=/=morality.
'DELIBERATE TARGETING OF HOSPITALS: yes, Israel has bombed or raided several hospitals because they were being used as weapons depots or missile launch sites. This is completely legal—what would be illegal would be raids on hospitals not being used as military sites.'
'hamas is the one that's committing genocide! if israel was really trying to eradicate all of gaza it would be done already!'
62% of homes and 84% of healthcare facilities have been damaged or destroyed. as well as more than 80% of schools.
'what is happening in ukraine IS genocide! but not palestine!'
since this person seems so fixated on 'proportionate' death tolls...
ukraine has a population of 34 million, and the 2022 russian invasion has resulted in around 34,000 civilian casuallties as of june 2024. that's a lower ratio of civilian casualties to total population (1:1000). mariupol and the rest of donetsk oblast (population: 4 million) have sustained the highest number of casualties, with over 25,000 dead. this means the ratio is 1:160. according to this user, this is enough to warrant the label of genocide.
(edit: the number of dead ukrainian civilians may be higher at 100,000, making it 1:340).
but the gaza strip had a population of 2.4 million in 2022 (see the quote below), and the estimate of around 40,000 deaths has been outdated for some time now due to israel's destruction of gazan healthcare infrastructure and staff. even without a more accurate death toll, the ratio is higher (1:60). but for some reason (racism), it's not enough to be called a genocide.
the death toll in gaza is estimated to be much higher. according to the lancet,
Applying a conservative estimate of four indirect deaths per one direct death to the 37 396 deaths reported, it is not implausible to estimate that up to 186 000 or even more deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza. Using the 2022 Gaza Strip population estimate of 2 375 259, this would translate to 7·9% of the total population in the Gaza Strip.
and this is a conservative estimate.
also, according to this user's 'logic', with a lower ratio of casualties, russia is actually 'doing urban warfare' better than israel. so much for being pro-ukraine.
all of this disgusting vitriol is tacked on a post with artwork of jesus christ, because one of the sketches depicted him with a keffiyeh. i don't think prismatic bell has anything of worth to say about christianity.
Tumblr media
(edIted on 20 july)
changed pronoun to xir. explanation here.
Tumblr media
i've added a link to a source for 100,000 killed civilians in ukraine.
but still, given the choice between an academic article and an internet user, i'm going to trust the academic article to have actual research with sources and not 'fake numbers' for gaza.
i wrote a bit about how the alleged 1:1.5 civilian death ratio is incorrect under the read more, but then i realised, does it actually matter? should this be the metric by which we measure proportionality in the first place? should we forget how more palestinians have been killed by israel since its founding than the other way around?
if we only focus on this, we overlook the bigger picture, the alarming number of people who have been killed or left sickened and disabled. we have to keep the total population in mind, and the fact that israel also mass murders palestinians 'indirectly'. through starvation, cutting off electricity and water, blockading medical supplies as well as other resources, denying life-saving healthcare, and other means. what prismatic-bell said about russia targeting aid workers applies to israel too.
what about how israeli militants rape and sexually torture palestinian hostages? how they don't distinguish between combatants and civilians, and their 'definition' of terrorist includes elderly men and kids they've captured and stripped to their underwear? or how they've maimed people as part of rabin's 'break the bones' policy since the first intifada? or when the iof lied about letting an ambulance rescue hind rajab, only to kill the paramedics and shoot 335 bullets at the car where she was hiding? or how they haven't stopped bombing and sniping people despite orders from the icj and credible evidence of them committing genocide?
and 'fake numbers'? sounds like projection to me. here's what prismatic-bell said:
'And finally, let’s look at the civilian-to-combatant death toll. [...] With that said, the best data we have at this moment suggests one civilian killed for every 1.5 Hamas militants.'
no source given, but i'm guessing it came from wikipedia (where the sentence is unsourced as well).
here's an actual analysis by yagil levy on ha'aretz. it's outdated, but it argues that even early on in the genocide, the israeli army failed to show restraint in targeting civilians. none of that 'it's actually also REALLY GOOD for urban warfare' or 'entirely proportionate', or however you want to cruelly dismiss human life.
It follows that with a high proportion of noncombatants among the total number of those killed, we can conclude that the principle of discrimination was not adhered to, and an unusually high rate will reflect either a departure from the principle of proportionality or a highly flexible interpretation of it. [...] Thus, rather than this being a case of "collateral damage," it was the reverse: Because most of those harmed are civilians, what was produced is "collateral benefit," in the form of a low number of Gazan combatants killed.
This calculation shows that out of the total of 6,747, at least 4,594 individuals of both sexes who can be categorized as noncombatants were killed – 68 percent of the total.
this is a different way of calculating the ratio. it takes civilian deaths and divides it by the total number of people killed, not by combatant deaths (as the 1:1.5 ratio does). with 2,153 combatants killed, the ratio is actually around 2:1, meaning it is biased towards civilians killed. this is an outdated estimate and is probably higher in reality.
or take the iof's more recent but probably inflated estimate of 16,000 dead hamas fighters, meaning 24,000 civilians out of the 40,000 killed. the ratio would be 1.5:1. or 170,000 civilians if we go by the lancet.. that's 10.5 civilians dead for 1 militant. (if anyone has better sources let me know.)

Applying a conservative estimate of four indirect deaths per one direct death9 to the 37 396 deaths reported, it is not implausible to estimate that up to 186 000 or even more deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza. Using the 2022 Gaza Strip population estimate of 2 375 259, this would translate to 7·9% of the total population in the Gaza Strip
(Source: The Lancet)
The Lancet is one of the oldest and highest impact peer-reviewed medical journals in the world. Deliberate undercounting of deaths is a key feature of genocides.
The Electronic Intifada estimated it at 193,000 a few days before.
The reported number of martyrs on Wednesday this week was 37,718. It’s important to note that this number only includes martyrs who have been identified by name and civil ID number through the beleaguered health ministry in Gaza. Given the breakdown of reporting systems due to heavy destruction of infrastructure and personnel, this number, even with its limited parameters, is a gross underestimation. Based on more accurate figures of approximately 370 people killed daily, multiplied by 264 days of genocide, the actual number is closer to 97,680 martyred. (Per OCHA estimate of 15 martyrs per hour: Over the course of 264 days, which amounts to 6,336 hours, this number would roughly be 95,040).
...
Based on these estimates, both conservative and data-driven, respectively, the actual figures are likely as follows: • 377,280 buildings destroyed completely or partially • 95,040—97,680 martyred • 221,760 injured • 24,750 dead or dying from starvation • 42,000 missing (presumed dead, kidnapped by Israel’s occupying forces or possibly trafficked). The following ranges represent conservative estimate or lower range of data-driven population estimates: • 17,050—94,049 with chronic illnesses dead from lack of medication • 14,408—255,985 dead from epidemics resulting from Israel’s assault This means the actual number of dead is closer to 194,768—511,824 people, with 221,760 injured. And counting.
(Source: The Electronic Intifada)
Israel surrounded the last remaining hospital in the Gaza Strip with tanks and ordered it evacuated and shut down 12 hours ago.
If you still want to believe the pussy-footing toll of counted and reported deaths that can stand up to Western propaganda, after nine fucking months of dropping more than 70,000 tons of bombs on a 41 kilometer strip, exceeding World War II bombings in Dresden, Hamburg, London combined, rather than the statistical breakdown of humanitarian orgs and medical journals, then have at. There's no point telling you to believe the victims and question your own biases towards your own heavily propagandized establishments.
But if you can do basic math, then please use The Lancet's estimated death toll. The massacre of 8% of the Gaza Strip is a conservative estimate and still apocalyptic. Resist all attempts to diminish it. Remember that this is the result of the United States's obstruction of justice and open-handed abetting of genocidaires. Keep fighting.
Btw:
While the war itself is estimated to have generated between 420,265 and 652,552 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) so far—equivalent to burning more than 1.5 million barrels of oil—this figure soars to more than 61 million tonnes when pre-and post-war construction and reconstruction are included. This is more than the annual emissions of 135 individual nations—but there is currently no legal obligation for militaries to report or be held accountable for their emissions.

let me take you guys on a journey. one that will help you understand how annoyingly obsessive and hung up my brain can get......
so here is where our wild goose chase starts. I was going through a 2012 f1 blog's nico tag. it's actually pretty rare for early 2010s blogs to have comprehensive tagging systems so whenever I find one I try to go thru it all. and I come across this v cute nico image (cropped for posterity. payoff will be worth it promise)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
here we have a picture, from 2012, and in classic 2012 fashion there is meme text on it. OP of the original pic deactivated. so I want to find the version without the meme text. pretty easy, just reverse google search right?
Tumblr media
WRONG!
google reverse search is functionally dead and defunct and absolutely dogshit.
ok back to square one. I'm trying to sus out from whatever information I have.
the other meme watermark of f1humour.tumblr.com? deactivated.
Tumblr media
okay 37 notes. maybe I can do something with this.
Tumblr media
tumblr kind of breaks (?) with very old posts. so even if someone tagged it, I can't see it. ok but 14 people liked it!
Tumblr media
of the 14 accounts only 7 actually show, including mine. so what I do is I go through 6 of those blogs, and their public archives because those accounts are all inactive for several YEARS now. and I check their blogs for April 2012.
no luck.
back to the drawing board.
Tumblr media
the meme has a MOTORSPORT.COM watermark.
here's all the information I have: this was posted on April 24th, 2012, which means that's my upper limit on the date this could be taken. Nico got in Mercedes in 2010. So from anywhere between 2010-2012 motorsport images couldve taken this pic.
so, because I was born with excessive intelligence, I think hmmm... let me search the archives of Motorsport Images dot com. surely that is where Motorsport dot com would keep their Images.
two years of a racing driver's pictures means thousands of pictures. okay. let's start from April 2012. unfortch for keen eyed listening, April 2012 was also the Chinese Grand Prix aka Nico's first f1 win.
Tumblr media
why is that relevant? because it means every photographer and their MOTHER took a picture of nico for his first win. over 900+ images.
while I am exhibiting extremely unemployed levels of behavior here, I don't actually have the time and brain capacity to sift through 900 images.
I go back to the original tumblr post. this time I go to the empty reblogs. there's lots!
Tumblr media
but because there's no tags it can't help me. still I go through every one of them because you can see the blog I found the pic from @the-fastest-waffle is listed in the other reblogs even though they clearly had tags!
and I find my silver lining. from @fuckyeahf1drivers's tags
Tumblr media
just this simple. #bahrain #lol
if this picture is from bahrain 2012 it changes everything, as in it narrows my search a shit tonne.
Tumblr media
375 images. This means 1-15 pages and I know the exact picture I'm looking for. I feel like I'm SO close. I can't give up now. gambler mentality 💎
Tumblr media
so I guess what. I go through all 15 goddamn pages. and I DONT FIND IT!!!!!!!!! SCREEEEEECH
now I've lost hope. if it's not from bahrain 2012 then it can be from anywhere from 2010-2012 taken by motorsport.com which is just too big a search. there isn't anything I can narrow it down with. my search is futile.
but I have one tiny little thought bugging my mind. how come motorsport images don't have the motorsport.com watermark... so I consult a fellow archivist @vegasgrandprix on the matter.
Tumblr media
WE AS A SOCIETY NEED TO ADDRESS WHY MOTORSPORT.COM AND MOTORSPORT IMAGES.COM HAVE THE SAME FONT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
finally. finally
I go on motorsport.com
which is actually kind of not super user friendly interface finding their pics if you have excessive intelligence like I do. I go into this knowing if the bahrain 2012 long shot is actually NOT when that picture is from, I'm fucked.
I filter and say a prayer.
and lo and behold.
salvation.
Tumblr media
one person's singular tag of 'bahrain 2012 lol' led me down this spiral, where if it wasn't for that bit of information this would be lost forever because finding the version of the pic without the meme text is otherwise near impossible. google reverse search is no help, and f1 drivers simply get photographed way too much. reblogs + tags with context literally are a holy grail. this is what I imagine archaeologists feel like. so if you ever want someone 12 years after you've posted something to go down finding out, tag your posts accordingly (assuming tumblr survives the next decade)
so why did I do it? why did I spend hours of my life on this? cause it's fun. it's like a mystery and it itches at my skin. many times I'm not successful which is why the times I am feels so rewarding because it feels almost like detective work, finding and refinding something, overturning evidence. and I have a brain that just functions Like This.
and now for the fruit of my labour, if you guys still want to see. the picture I spent hours to find the original version of. sitting proudly at the time of posting at 9 notes 😌😌 here's what goes behind actually finding and archiving 2010s retired f1 drivers online. click below!

Biden Still Hasn’t Learned
The administration launches one last frenzy of spending and regulating.
How much damage can a president do in two months? America may be about to find out as the man considered mentally unfit to be prosecuted or run for re-election embarks on a mad dash to advance a failed agenda.
Fatima Hussein, Matthew Daly and Collin Binkley reported on Friday for the Associated Press:
Biden administration officials are working against the clock doling out billions in grants and taking other steps to try to preserve at least some of the outgoing president’s legacy before President-elect Donald Trump takes office in January.
But voters just said that they don’t want this legacy preserved, especially when it comes to the Biden spending and regulating that did so much to fuel inflation. The AP notes:
Biden administration officials hope that projects funded under the $1 trillion infrastructure law and $375 billion climate law will endure beyond Biden’s term and are working to ensure that money from the landmark measures continues to flow…
The Energy Department, meanwhile, announced a $544 million loan to a Michigan company to expand manufacturing of high-quality silicon carbide wafers for electric vehicles. The loan is one of 28 deals totaling $37 billion granted under a clean-energy loan program that was revived and expanded under Biden.
“There is a new urgency to get it all done. We’re seeing explosions of money going out the door,” said Melinda Pierce, legislative director of the Sierra Club. Biden and his allies ”really want to finish the job they started.”
Has the White House already forgotten that Michigan voters—many of them dissatisfied with the administration’s mania for electric vehicles—voted just two weeks ago against climate-related explosions of taxpayer funds? Now Team Biden has a “new urgency” to do what voters don’t want. Apparently there’s also a new urgency to try to do what the people’s representatives in Congress don’t want and have refused to do. The AP reporters note:
The Education Department has been hurrying to finalize a new federal rule that would cancel student loans for people who face financial hardship. The proposal — one of Biden’s only student loan plans that hasn’t been halted by federal courts — is in a public comment period scheduled to end Dec. 2.
After that, the department would have a narrow window to finalize the rule and begin carrying it out, a process that usually takes months. Like Biden’s other efforts, it would almost certainly face a legal challenge.
Of course it would, because he’s trying once again to make significant changes to this program without a vote in Congress.
Besides the spending surge, the other great inflation fuel of the Biden era has been his regulatory surge. Federal red tape contributes to inflation by making it more difficult and more costly to produce goods, thus making goods more rare and more expensive. Ryan Young of the Competitive Enterprise Institute writes today on the latest productivity-killing emissions from federal agencies, as measured in pages of federal rules and proposed rules:
The 2024 Federal Register topped 90,000 pages and is now the second-longest ever, dating back to 1936, with more than a month still to go.
The last month of this year is shaping up to be one big crude gesture directed at consumers. Mr. Young writes that the 2024 Federal Register is on pace for 102,426 pages, which seems to put Mr. Biden in the running to be the all-time champion of such noxious federal paperwork emissions. Mr. Young adds:
The all-time record adjusted page count (subtracting skips, jumps, and blank pages) is 96,994, set in 2016.
Some said that President Barack Obama’s regulatory pace could never be equalled. But look at Mr. Biden go!
Wouldn’t it be nice if the people who are still running our government at least pretended to be listening to voters?

Collecting data is becoming increasingly difficult for the Gaza Health Ministry due to the destruction of much of the infrastructure. The Ministry has had to augment its usual reporting, based on people dying in its hospitals or brought in dead, with information from reliable media sources and first responders. This change has inevitably degraded the detailed data recorded previously. Consequently, the Gaza Health Ministry now reports separately the number of unidentified bodies among the total death toll. As of May 10, 2024, 30% of the 35 091 deaths were unidentified.
[...]
In recent conflicts, such indirect deaths range from three to 15 times the number of direct deaths. Applying a conservative estimate of four indirect deaths per one direct death to the 37 396 deaths reported, it is not implausible to estimate that up to 186 000 or even more deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza. Using the 2022 Gaza Strip population estimate of 2 375 259, this would translate to 7.9% of the total population in the Gaza Strip.
5th July 2024
The Lancet published an article providing a "conservative estimate" of 186,000 dead in Gaza, which is 7.9% of the pre-7th October 2023 population.
I don't think a non-paywalled pdf is online yet as it's just been published, but just keep pasting the doi into scihub and they should add it eventually

hello again.
this is another masterpost, mainly containing campaigns that i have already shared. however, they still need support, especially financially. unfortunately for me, im unable to do so. i do apologize for not being able to. also, im not an official vetter.
if you do see this post on this tag, then this tag is currently popular enough to push this post through, so more people could help, whether that be by sharing, or to donate to any of the following palestinians on this post today. (i do apologize if i accidentally dehumanized anyone here. sorry.)
if anyone is able to donate, please do so. regardless, please reblog this, so more people can help. thank you.

Armed conflicts have indirect health implications beyond the direct harm from violence. Even if the conflict ends immediately, there will continue to be many indirect deaths in the coming months and years from causes such as reproductive, communicable, and non-communicable diseases. The total death toll is expected to be large given the intensity of this conflict; destroyed health-care infrastructure; severe shortages of food, water, and shelter; the population's inability to flee to safe places; and the loss of funding to UNRWA, one of the very few humanitarian organisations still active in the Gaza Strip. Using the 2022 Gaza Strip population estimate of 2 375 259, this would translate to 7.9% of the total population in the Gaza Strip.
i've seen maybe a dozen posts about this but none directly linking to the lancet study, explaining their methodology, or acknowledging that they specified a range: 3-15 times the death toll published by the gaza ministry of health
the 186,000 figure is a conservative estimate (and it should be 187,000 because 5 * 37,396 is 186,980)
the range is 112,000 to 561,000
Tumblr media
there's the 7.9% estimate, which would represent about 1,270 deaths per day since the approximate end of published data (march, unless the health ministry has issued information i don't know about)
this is compared to covid death toll in the US because i believe we're all familiar with the way 0.36% population loss translates to "just about everyone knows at least one person who died" (i knew multiple, but let's oversimplify to assume 0.36% means everybody knew exactly one, for comparative purposes)
to put gaza's numbers in the same perspective, just about everyone who has survived this far must have known maybe 22 people who died (the true statistics of how people know each other, and how likely relationships are between them, are obviously much more complicated, but 7.9% is 22 times 0.36%)
Tumblr media
here's the upper range of the estimate (561,000, 23.6%, 4,830 deaths per day, or every survivor likely knew 65 people who died). sorry for the clumsy graph, error bars were the quickest way to represent this
for what it's worth, i think they are correct to describe the "conservative" 5x estimate as "not implausible"
for the available data, daily totals only surpassed 500/day once (oct 17th), and the available numbers put them closer to 100-200 per day over the ten months of the war. extrapolating that to today would give closer to 60,000 deaths -- but these only count direct deaths, and largely identified bodies that have been found (30% unidentified, according to the lancet)
what i think is likeliest, is of course, that the rate of death has been steaily accelerating as famine and disease take their toll (as in, the daily number of deaths increases from 100-500 to 1,000-4,000 over the past 100 days, with some of these also being previously unrecorded, unknown, undiscovered bodies during the term of known data)
so, 60,000 is about the rock-bottom minimum for direct deaths, 112,000 is the rock-bottom minimum when including estimates for indirect deaths. the plausible maximum for both direct and indirect deaths based on similar conflicts is 561,000 and the reasonable estimate is 187,000

Since it's Lesbian visibility Week I feel like sharing a sapphic romance book I recently bought and finished reading this week called Late Bloomer.

Tumblr media
It's super sweet to see how the main character's relationship develops throughout the story as they learn more about each other and slowly build trust between them. So if you want to read a good sapphic book, I really recommend Late Bloomer. It's only 37 chapters long plus an epilogue(375 pages) so it's a nice relaxing read.

From the Lancet article:
In recent conflicts, such indirect deaths range from three to 15 times the number of direct deaths. Applying a conservative estimate of four indirect deaths per one direct death9 to the 37 396 deaths reported, it is not implausible to estimate that up to 186 000 or even more deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza. Using the 2022 Gaza Strip population estimate of 2 375 259, this would translate to 7·9% of the total population in the Gaza Strip. A report from Feb 7, 2024, at the time when the direct death toll was 28 000, estimated that without a ceasefire there would be between 58 260 deaths (without an epidemic or escalation) and 85 750 deaths (if both occurred) by Aug 6, 2024.10

have seen people talking about the article but not linking it directly. the core section is:
Armed conflicts have indirect health implications beyond the direct harm from violence. Even if the conflict ends immediately, there will continue to be many indirect deaths in the coming months and years from causes such as reproductive, communicable, and non-communicable diseases. The total death toll is expected to be large given the intensity of this conflict; destroyed health-care infrastructure; severe shortages of food, water, and shelter; the population's inability to flee to safe places; and the loss of funding to UNRWA, one of the very few humanitarian organisations still active in the Gaza Strip.8
A report from Feb 7, 2024, at the time when the direct death toll was 28 000, estimated that without a ceasefire there would be between 58 260 deaths (without an epidemic or escalation) and 85 750 deaths (if both occurred) by Aug 6, 2024.10
so this (very brief) article isnt really new information, just taking the gaza health ministry numbers and multiplying them by 5. and those numbers arent about the current situation, theyre about the future. the current death toll is unknown, but presumably considerably higher than 40K

Perucetus colossus was an early whale of the basilosaurid family that swam in the oceans of the Eocene epoch between 39 and 37 million years ago. The study describing it estimated its weight as ranging between 94 and 375 tons, which would make it the most massive animal to have ever lived (for comparison, the modern blue whale has a maximum weight under 220 tons). So far, however, only parts of its rib cage and spinal column as well as vestigial hips have been found.
