You and Spinel met online through some platform that is now lost to both of you.

Loneliness was solved by long video calls that either had constant chatter or the two of you co existing whilst working on something and neither of your love languages was physical touch, so you were set with that.

All things considered, the relationship went well,, Spinel would often order things for you as gifts -sometimes they'd be flowers, other times it's expensive jewellery or the newest thing that you've been eyeing and once mentioned wanting.

Sometimes you'd send him hand written letters alongside some gifts, so he'd send some letters back.

One thing that proved to be an issue was meeting up. You lived in Alola whilst Spinel lived on the anitpode which ment a ~~32h flight -maybe even longer if you need to stop often- and roughly 2-4k for one flight.

But with the long distance and the heavy cost that came with meeting up, the two of you decided that it's best to keep it online for both of your wallets' sakes.

On top of that,, there was no way for you to visit him as you can't just take a few hours off to visit your long distance/online boyfriend for a few hours without consequences.

Spinel does move around often for his job, so it ment that there were times he was a day -or even a few hour- flight away from you, but due to his strict schedule, he was never able to slip away, especially since most of his work involved stalking people gathering information on different types of pokémon which were constantly on the move.

But neither of you minded the fact that your relationship stayed exclusively online, yet it was awkward as always when your family would ask you if you're seeing anyone. You are, but he's on the other side of the world. Literally.

okay I will admit I use tunnels a bit loosely here, but in this vod he works on making them to hide from zam and escape (around 47m & 1:03) he also finds a spot where zam used to have a beacon which is part of the tunnels I was talking about. it was less to sneak around as during castle arc he had no reason to, but more so to play with zam. there is also zams pov but it's during the 32h stream and I. don't want to have to skim that rn >_< please forgive me anon.
