Maize Day
Maize Day is celebrated every year to mark the special role that maize has played in food history. Maize, which the Europeans came to call “corn,” has an ancient and interesting history and plays central roles in many native myths and legends. And anyone who’s ever eaten corn on the cob with fresh creamy butter and a pinch of salt knows that corn more than deserves its own holiday!
History of Maize Day
With the help of their legends, the natives of America could trace the history of maize to the beginning of time. Maize was, they believed, the food of the gods that had created the Earth, and so it played a central role in many native myths and legends. It also came to be one of their most important foods.
In fact, the word maize itself derives from the Spanish form of the indigenous word for plant. In one form or other, maize made up roughly 65 percent of the native diet. In fact, maize was so important to the natives that when Europeans first came to North America in search of gold and asked the natives about whether there was any precious yellow substance to be found there, the natives showed them corn, for to them there was almost nothing more valuable than that grain.
The European settlers had in fact brought their own grains with them, but they soon found that their barley and oats did not fare as well in North America as they had in Europe, and so they began grinding corn kernels to make meal that was later used to make bread. And like the natives, colonial farmers also found that different parts of the plant had a number of useful by-products and purposes. They used cobs to start fires and to fuel slow-burning fires. They used its stalk and leaves for livestock feed.
They used husks to make brooms and chair bottoms as well as to pad mattresses and collars for draft animals. Maize was the first-ever crop to be domesticated by Native Americans and this impressive crop is now used in numerous types of food including chewing gum, bread, corn flakes, and popcorn. Maize is almost universally used as one of the main ingredients of feed for cows and horses. “Feed maize” is being used increasingly for heating; it is burned in special corn stoves.
All in all, maize is thought to have been around since 1500 B.C., and once it was first cultivated it began to spread rapidly. Until this day, it is the staple food in many South American countries and is also enjoyed as a side dish by people all over the world.
How to celebrate Maize Day
Of course, the best way to celebrate Maize Day is by gathering with friends and family to eat a special meal made from different types of maize, in different forms and added to all different types of dishes. The possibilities are almost infinite!

Etoiles: [Laughs] There's– bro, the first enigma– the first enigma is bullsht!
Cellbit: Oh! You mean the menu? The menu puzzle.
Etoiles: Yeah, the menu. Bro, I was so tilted on the first one! [Laughs] I was so tilted! I was like "OK?! Four years of development to put- to put the blood on it?!" 🙄
[...]
Cellbit: Oh! You know, it is- it is kinda hard, but not that hard. You're a smart guy, you get it.
Etoiles: Ehh, we will see. 😑

Cellbit: Hi!
Etoiles: [He jumps] WHOA!
Cellbit: I think you're muted.
Etoiles: O-oh! You scared- you scared me! [Laughs with Cellbit]
Cellbit: I'm sorry! Do you need help?
Etoiles: Bro, there's a problem, like– Excuse me, but– I'm playing a game, I don't know if you know, it's like, "Enigma of Fear."
Cellbit: Ok, ok, yeah, I heard it came out.
Etoiles: Ok, yeah, and I'm opening something, and when I'm opening the thing, it's not working! Look, look, look, if–
Cellbit: Oh yeah! It's like a crumpled paper, right?
Etoiles: IT'S WORKING NOW! [Laughs] Ok, ok– I just need to reset-
Cellbit: Yes. Yeah, I fixed it live.
Etoiles: Ok, you fixed it? Ok ok ok, thank you, man.
Cellbit: [Laughs]
Etoiles: Thank you, thank you, I just need to... to go out, and to go in. Ok, um– It's beautiful, for now. It's a pretty cool experience!
Cellbit: Are you enjoying it? Are you liking it?
Etoiles: It looks like you– Like um–
Cellbit: Aww...
Etoiles: The enigma you did like, in all your Minecraft stuff? We look like–
Cellbit: Yeah.
Etoiles: It's kinda the same, but it seems like you a bit sick in the head, because–
Cellbit: [Cracks up]
Etoiles: [Laughs] There's– bro, the first enigma– the first enigma is bullsht!
Cellbit: Did you– yeah, I see you haven't solved the whole thing yet, right?
Etoiles: No no no, I- I- I'm in front of the 4a, thing.
Cellbit: Oh! You mean the menu? The menu puzzle.
Etoiles: Yeah, the menu.
Cellbit: Oh, alright, yeah. I just got to your stream, I'm watching with subtitles on.
Etoiles: Bro, I was so tilted on the first one! [Laughs]
Cellbit: [Laughs]
Etoiles: I was so tilted! I was like "OK?! Four years of development to put- to put the blood on it?!" No... It seems– the enigma with the 4pm thing on the alarm seems to be problematic.
Cellbit: Oh wha- why problematic?
Etoiles: Yea- no– It seems to be hard.
Cellbit: Oh! You know, it is- it is kinda hard, but not that hard. You're a smart guy, you get it.
Etoiles: Ehh, we will see. Thank you so much for the insights, I will–
Cellbit: Yeah, if you need any hints, just call me again.
Etoiles: I will call you bro, you're amazing. See you.
Cellbit: Bye bro!
After this, Etoiles says something along the lines of "This is a bit of a flex when you feel like asking a question about a game you can call the dev." Please let me know if there's a better way to translate this; I don't speak French so I'm solely relying on subtitles here.

we should feel really good about the last two games. the scores don't really reflect how big those wins were for us (giving up 4 pt lead, low scoring game). in the first half of the Canucks game and the second half of the Bruins game, we were stringing together back-to-back shifts of excellent puck control and offensive pressure. and, it has to be said, defending!
the team is being more proactive and not just watching the game like a deer in the headlights. they're making simpler plays moving north and keeping in position behind the puck. (not the entire game but that's ok! it's a great start.)
highlights of this game for me:
Geno's butt-poke revenge that inspired the team to turn it around
Geno's line scored using a similar play as Rak's goal—tangling up with the goalie and defense and then drawing them to the side, like a fake out tip-in. strategy!!!
Tanger sliding on his ass gracelessly to bail out Jarry
Sid playing 3-D chess with his faceoff strategy
Rak getting the goal at the literal last second of the 2nd period (time left: 0.8 sec)
the power of teamwork (13 shots in the last two minutes of the second, leading to Rak's goal)
the power of teamwork, part 2 (8 Jarry saves and 6 blocked shots to keep our lead in the third)
Jarry kissing his stick and closing the night with .969 save %

I'm posting a sleep token video from last night. Ik it's not the greatest quality, but imd I wasn't at the front of the mosh pit like those lucky sons of bitches:
Okay, so I was going to post the video of vessel coming on stage, then realised there's a bunch of fans telling other fans to sit down, using pretty foul language, so it becomes a distraction. I'll post a different one:
Also, I realised you can hear my mum and I singing along in another longer video, so I'll edit it and post it later
P.s. @sleepanonymous , you prob won't want to use this bc the quality isn't great, but if you do decide to, you can <3

Sinkie Day
Sinkie Day — or Dine Over Your Kitchen Sink Day — is the day after Thanksgiving, which is November 24 this year, and it is especially for those of us to whom leftovers taste much better when eaten over the sink. Imagine that after spending hours cleaning up the house, you want to give yourself a treat, a juicy or crunchy bite that will get crumbs everywhere. Taking it out of the kitchen may not be wise unless you love cleaning. One of the best places to eat that yummy but messy treat is over the sink. And some of us are natural sinkies; it’s just in us. Yes, sinkies are a thing. A ‘sinkie’ is someone who dines over the kitchen sink, grabs a quick bite in the car, drinks milk straight from the carton, or snacks right out of the refrigerator.
History of Sinkie Day
Sinkie Day was founded in 1991 by the International Association of People Who Dine Over the Kitchen Sink (IAPWDOTKS). The aim is to celebrate the tradition of saving precious time by eating while standing over the kitchen sink and donating revenues to charities that help combat world hunger. Norm Hankoff came up with the idea while chowing down some tuna salad over his kitchen sink using potato chips as a spoon. Hankoff’s idea enthralled him so much that he asked everyone around him to join. In March 1994, when Hillary Clinton was looking for an American chef, Hankoff sent a letter suggesting that the Clintons try this alternative dining style. He got a favorable reply letter from the White House, and Sinkie Day kicked off. The IAPWDOTKS motto is: “Everybody does it. Sinkies proudly admit it.”
Being a sinkie isn’t something to be ashamed of. The sinkie attitude is about de-stressing and having fun with food without worrying about the mess it’ll make. As a sinkie, you don’t have to go through the tiring routine of getting a table set and ready. It makes so much sense that Sinkie Day is a day after Thanksgiving because there are always leftovers of food, snacks, and desserts from Thanksgiving dinner. We understand how much work gets put into Thanksgiving Day, so we observe this holiday designated for snacking over the kitchen sink right after it. All we truly need is the kitchen sink to lean over and chow down while crumbs and food juices fall in the sink for effortless cleanup.
Sinkie Day coincides with Black Friday and the rush to get the best deals on items we’ve had our eyes on for months. In a rush, we may forget to eat or deliberately skip meals for later. Sinkie Day is the perfect excuse to indulge in thanksgiving leftovers or fresh treats. We don’t need to explain why we’re eating over the sink, or drinking out of the carton, on this particular day. The Day after Thanksgiving is for munching anything, anytime, anywhere, with no plate.

Sinkie Day FAQs
What kind of kitchen sink is easiest to keep clean?
Porcelain and ceramic sinks are non-porous, and they have a high gloss finish that makes them resistant to stain. Compared to other sink options, they are easier to keep clean using everyday cleaning products.
Should I leave food in the sink?
While eating over the sink, once your food or snack falls into it, it is time to throw it away. Eating food that has touched the sink can cause food poisoning as even the cleanest sink may have some bacteria.
What do you eat when you're lazy?
Stir fry is always a winner when you don’t want to put too much effort into meal preparation. It is quick and easy to make and works well with leftovers as ingredients.
How To Celebrate Sinkie Day
Eat like a true sinkie
Experiment with Thanksgiving leftovers
Discover other sinkies
Enjoy those over-the-sink treats like a legit sinkie. Eat food, fruits, cookies, anything covered in sauce. Start with a jam donut for breakfast while hurrying out the door, a desk lunch of snacks and soda from the office vending machine, then grab takeout dinner to eat over your dashboard on your way back home, and end it all with a midnight slurp of carton milk in front of the open fridge. Follow this itinerary, and you’ll be a certified sinkie by nightfall.
Sinkie Day might just be an excellent opportunity for your inner chef to get creative with leftovers and produce a brand new dish. Share your creation with family and friends, and maybe your recipe could get famous.
Are there other sinkies among you? Maybe your friends love the on-the-go sinkie lifestyle, or some family member chows breakfast down during that morning rush. Sinkie Day is a day to help them realize their identity, appreciate them, and for them to truly enjoy the lifestyle without feeling guilty.
