It isn’t often that Sirius finds himself completely paralyzed in shock.  There’s very little that can shock him, but when he goes to leave the hospital wing having just been ordered to leave his godson alone after he’d been abducted by Pettigrew and Voldemort at the end of the fourth task, yet, he freezes at the sight in the doorway.

It’s not the Minister returned.  It’s not a dementor plotting to take his soul away. 

It’s James. 

James, his godson’s father.  James, his best mate.  James, his husband. 

He doesn’t need to question if it’s really him because he can see it in the clothes he’s wearing (from the night he died), and the look in his eyes. 

The fierce protectiveness in his eyes and soft love of seeing the two people in this world in such pain. 

He answers Dumbledore’s questions a bit impatiently to the point that after two questions he opts to turn into Prongs and straight up counter to Sirius still standing beside his godson.  Harry is looking just a paralyzed as Sirius is, and neither of them move as James transforms back and hugs them both at the same time. 

“I know – I know – I don’t understand what exactly happened or how I’m back, but I’m here and I’m not about to leave either of you again,” James states, plainly.  “I love you both so much and I’m sorry for everything you’ve been through.”

It only takes but a moment for Harry to come out of the shock, asking all sorts of questions and wanting to understand how and when he came back.  James answers what he can ignoring everyone else in the room (Dumbledore had apparently decided that he and James were staying and everyone else should leave, which suited Sirius just fine) before Harry’s sleeping potion causes him to drift off with a promise that they’ll be here when he wakes. 

It's at that point that James throws his arms around the still paralyzed Sirius, and whispers, “I love you so much, Si.  I am so sorry that I trusted the rat, but I will get you freed, I promise.”

Sirius melts into the hug, finally realizing that James isn’t angry with him and he’s so damn lucky to have this man as his husband.

“James, I – I love you, too.  I thought you – it’s my fault…”

“It’s not, okay?  It was always stupid for us to do what we did – lying about me and you, going into hiding, trusting Peter… it all led to some terrible things, and none of us could have predicted it…”

“Yeah, but…”

“… and we can’t change the past, but you, me and Harry will absolutely just have to deal with what happened and move forward.”

Sirius glances at their kid.  “That’s going to involve a lot of explaining.  I haven’t exactly told him…”

“I know, but it’ll be fine, we’ll handle it together.”

“Sounds brilliant.”

James gives Sirius his first kiss in fourteen years, and he smiles, goofily. 

“For now, we should all rest.  It’s going to be a rough time ahead in the next few days.”

“Agreed.”  He moves to the bed next to Harry’s, “Night James,” he says before changing into Padfoot just in case. 

“Night Sirius.”

With that, he drifts off to sleep, hopeful that James’ return wasn’t a dream.

I love the movie 'Monkie King Reborn'. It is beautiful and surprising. I love the character design. My favorite designs are Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie. I love Tripitaka too. But I would have liked to see him in different clothes. But he's cute.
