Im sorry I tried to have a conversation with you. I know it's such an unbearable pain when I talk to you over your shows. I'm sorry you have to obviously lean forward to pause the tv and turn to me with a fake smile. Just so I can try and chat with you. I'm sorry that when I was younger, I tried to play board games with you. And I'm sorry I didn't find it funny when you conspired to avoid sitting down and playing one round with me. I'm sorry I wanted to spend time with you doing some I liked with someone I loved. I'm sorry that I'm not my brothers. I'm sorry that I couldn't just lay down and take it. I'm sorry that I can't see the "gentle giant", I'm sorry I can only see the man who has relentlessly abused me my entire life, with your passive acceptance and his father's explicit permission. Im sorry I didn't find it funny. Any if it, funny. I'm sorry that I've taken advantage of our relationship. And I'm sorry that I don't feel terrible. I'm sorry that despite everything, despite how much I tell myself I don't need you to understand me, that I seem to crave your attention and your understanding so much. When dreaming up the features for my Polyester takeover, the choices came instantly and I’m so thankful to the stunners that came together to make this a reality. Together we made an 80 page print zine featuring @ chiomannadi, @ richieshazam, @ mikaelaloach, @ lanalubany and @ afuahirsch - all women I hugely respect and admire. The goal was to create the representation that I longed for in the media growing up as a mixed race Arab girlie 🥹✨

one of the things I would love to make is a writer's bootcamp / critique circle where people get grouped together based on things like genre, age category, writing stage (i.e. outlining, 1st draft, editing) where you submit something weekly to show your progress and get critique or even just positivity from your group. and there would be deadlines to encourage accountability and getting. stuff. done.

is there interest in this? would anyone want to help me make something like it? i don't think I could do it on my own
