Deer Editor - spoiler-free review
Deer Editor is a noir comic about a crime beat editor Bucky who is also an anhtropomorphic deer. There are no other half-animal characters and mostly no one aknowledges this issue.
The high-concept is in place as we follow Bucky trying to do his job.
The mystery is handled deftly. Ryan K Lindsay has a good grasp even if some parts were a tad too dialogue heavy. Even for noir. Sami Kivelä draws in a realistic manner which grounds the comic. Together with colorist Lauren Affe the interior art is almost Black and White but subtle use of blue hues increases the noirness. Enchanses the mood and brood.
It is quite obviously a labor of love. Occasionally art has stiffness in some panels and it also is in my opinion a bit too wordy at Times, but it is good. This is not a funny animal story. There is humor but but far from comedy.

>resumes comic
>immediately draws a page of NOTHING BUT STAIRS
ID: Four panel comic page split down the middle to show two characters climbing stairs. The page starts with "Some rambling later..." in a narration box in the top left. On the left, the raccoon person Maverick runs up a fire escape, showing several levels still left to go. On the right, the sheep girl Silence is shown climbing interior stairs. She pauses at the top of another flight of stairs at the 7th floor, panting to catch her breath, then starts up the next flight. Silence speaks: "Damn it. Some child's play..."
