Return to office and dying on the job
Tumblr media
Denise Prudhomme's bosses at Wells Fargo insisted that the in-person camaraderie of their offices warranted a mandatory return-to-office policy, but when she died at her desk in her Tempe, AZ office, no one noticed for four days.
That was in August. Now, Wells Fargo United has published a statement on her death, one that vibrates with anger at the callously selective surveillance that Wells Fargo inflicts on its workforce:
https://www.reddit.com/r/WellsFargoUnited/comments/1fnp9fa/please_print_and_take_to_your_managersite_leader/
The union points out that Wells Fargo workers are subjected to continuous, fine-grained on-the-job surveillance from a variety of bossware tools that count their keystrokes and create tables of the distancess their mice cross each day:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/02/24/gwb-rumsfeld-monsters/#bossware
Wells Fargo's message to its workforce is, "You can't be trusted," a policy that Wells Fargo doubled down on with its Return to Office mandate. Return to Office is often pitched as a chance to improve teamwork, communication, and human connection with your co-workers, and there's no arguing with the idea that spending some time in person with people can help improve working relationships (I attended a week-long, all-hands, staff retreat for EFF earlier this month and it was fantastic, primarily due to its in-person nature).
But our bosses don't want us back in the office because they enjoy our company, nor because they're so excited about having hired such a swell bunch of folks and can't wait to see how we all get along together. As John Quiggin writes, the biggest reason to force us back to the office is to get a bunch of us to quit:
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/sep/26/in-their-plaintive-call-for-a-return-to-the-office-ceos-reveal-how-little-they-are-needed
As one of Musk's toadies put it in a private message before the Twitter takeover, "Sharpen your blades boys. 2 day a week Office requirement = 20% voluntary departures":
https://techcrunch.com/2022/09/29/elon-musk-texts-discovery-twitter/
The other reason to spy on us is because they don't trust us. Remember all the panic about "quiet quitting" and "no one wants to work"? Bosses' hypothesis was that eking out a bare minimum living on from a couple of small-dollar covid stimulus checks was preferable to working for them for a full paycheck.
Every accusation is a a confession. When your boss tells you that he thinks that you can't be trusted to do a good job without total, constant surveillance, he's really saying, "I only bother to do my CEO job when I'm afraid of getting fired':
https://pluralistic.net/2024/04/19/make-them-afraid/#fear-is-their-mind-killer
As Wells Fargo United notes, Wells Fargo employees like Denise Prudhomme are spied on from the moment they set foot in the building until the moment they clock out (and sometimes the spying continues when you're off the clock):
Wells Fargo monitors our every move and keystroke using remote, electronic technologies—purportedly to evaluate our productivity—and will fire us if we are caught not making enough keystrokes on our computers.
The Arizona Republic coverage notes further that Prudhomme had to log her comings and goings from the Wells Fargo offices with a badge, so Wells Fargo could see that Prudhomme had entered the premises four days before, but hadn't left:
https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/tempe-breaking/2024/09/23/wells-fargo-employees-union-responds-death-tempe-woman/75352015007/
Wells Fargo has mandated in-person working, even when that means crossing a state line to be closer to the office. They've created "hub cities" where workers are supposed to turn up. This may sound convivial, but Prudhomme was the only member of her team working out of the Tempe hub, so she was being asked to leave her home, travel long distances, and spend her days in a distant corner of the building where no one ventured for periods of (at least) four days at a time.
Bosses are so convinced that they themselves would goof off if they could that they fixate on forcing employees to spend their days in the office, no matter what the cost. Back in March 2020, Charter CEO Tom Rutledge – then the highest-paid CEO in America – instituted a policy that every back office staffer had to work in person at his call centers. This was the most deadly phase of the pandemic, there was no PPE to speak of, we didn't understand transmission very well, and vaccines didn't exist yet. Charter is a telecommunications company and it was booming as workers across America upgraded their broadband so they could work from home, and the CEO's response was to ban remote work. His customer service centers were superspreading charnel houses:
https://pluralistic.net/2020/03/18/diy-tp/#sociopathy
That Wells Fargo would leave a dead employee at her desk for four days is par for the course for the third-largest commercial bank in America. This is Wells Fargo, remember, the company that forced its low-level bank staff to open two million fake accounts in order to steal from their customers and defraud their shareholders, then fired and blackballed staff who complained:
https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/09/26/495454165/ex-wells-fargo-employees-sue-allege-they-were-punished-for-not-breaking-law
The executive who ran that swindle got a $125 million bonus:
https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2016/09/wells-fargo-ceos-teflon-don-act-backfires-at-senate-hearing-i-take-full-responsibility-means-anything-but.html
And the CEO got $200 million:
https://money.cnn.com/2016/09/21/investing/wells-fargo-fired-workers-retaliation-fake-accounts/index.html
It's not like Wells Fargo treats its workers badly but does well by everyone else. Remember, those fake accounts existed as part of a fraud on the company's investors. The company went on to steal $76m from its customers on currency conversions. They also foreclosed on customers who were up to date on their mortgages, seizing and selling off all their possessions. They argued that when bosses pressured tellers into forging customers on fraudulent account-opening paperwork, that those customers had lost their right to sue, since the fraudulent paperwork had a binding arbitration clause. When they finally agreed to pay restitution to their victims, they made the payments opt-in, ensuring that most of the millions of people they stole from would never get their money back.
They stole millions with fraudulent "home warranties." They stole millions from small businesses with fake credit-card fees. They defrauded 800,000 customers through an insurance scam, and stole 25,000 customers' cars with illegal repos. They led the pre-2008 pack on mis-selling deceptive mortgages that blew up and triggered the foreclosure epidemic. They loaned vast sums to Trump, who slashed their taxes, and then they fired 26.000 workers and did a $40.6B stock buyback. They stole 525 homes from mortgage borrowers and blamed it on a "computer glitch":
https://pluralistic.net/2021/09/29/jubilance/#too-big-to-jail
Given all this, two things are obvious: first, if anyone is going to be monitored for crimes, fraud and scams, it should be Wells Fargo, not its workers. Second, Wells Fargo's surveillance system exists solely to terrorize workers, not to help them. As Wells Fargo United writes:
We demand improved safety precautions that are not punitive or cause further stress for employees. The solution is not more monitoring, but ensuring that we are all connected to a supportive work environment instead of warehoused away in a back office.

Your thoughts on this folks?
Americans have been watching a massive, controlled Military Operation who strategically and critically planned and successfully trapped the Washington Establishment… Made them all confess their crimes and play a role in this operation piece by piece… as Americans have had to visually see and witness a ‘Continuation of Government’ in the form of a “Presidential Administration” where these corrupt and evil people will, have, and will continue to destroy their system from within, spend all of their dirty money doing so, until it’s time for the Military to visually step in.
The timelines all add up and prove the Military Operation and Occupancy:
1.     Snake Poem read by candidate Donald Trump – January 2016
2.     2016 Presidential Election – November 2016
3.     President Elect Trump and Putin on Fox News = “ready for ‘reset’… I will work with Trump” – November 9, 2016
4.     Law of War Manual (Military Occupancy and Negotiations etc.) – December 2016
5.     Military Justice Act (Supreme Court clarifying Military Law is separate than Civil Law; heavy emphasis on Military Tribunal terms) – 2016
6.     Military stands behind CIC Trump (Military Intelligence and JAG head bands; Optics) at Inauguration – January 2017
7.     Saudi Arabia crowns Trump King – May 2017
8.     Declares Jerusalem Capitol of Israel – December 2017
9.     Executive Order 13818 – Declares National Emergency to deal with Human Rights Abuse – December 2017
10. CIC Trump walks in front of Queen – July 14, 2018
11. Putin hands CIC Trump soccer ball (“the ball is in your court”; did not participate in 2022 World Cup) – July 16, 2018
12. Executive Order 13848 – September 2018
13. CIC Trump makes history; walks into North Korea – June 2019
14. National Quantum Initiative – Executive Order 13885 – August 2019
15. Space Force established as Military Branch – December 2019
16. Corona Sars Virus first mentioned to American Public as a Threat from China – February 2020
17. Two more National Emergencies Declared – March 13 and 27, 2020
18. Executive Order 13912 Federalizing 1,000,000 National Guard to Active-Duty Status – March 27, 2020
19. CIC Trump quote on attack worse than Pearl Harbor and 9/11 combined – May 2020
20. National Guard Troops place fence around Capitol Building (47 US Code 606) – January 2021
21. CIC Trump receives full grade Constitutional by Law and Military Grade Inauguration ceremony – January 20, 2021
22. “Joe Biden” breaks 20th Amendment amongst many other violations – January 20, 2021
23. Aircrafts constantly over and through 33 mile no fly zone radius D.C. – January 2021 to present day
24. “Biden” extends Executive Order 13848 (first time) – September 2021
25. Quantum.gov launched – September 2021
26. New York Times reports Military Tribunals coming mid-2023 – December 2021
27. Army and branches transfer all communications to Space Force under ONE command (Biden’s never mentioned the Space Force not once; zero News Articles with his name tied to Space Force) – August 2022
28. Major Optics and Comms in CIC Trump speech – November 15 2022
29. More News Articles establishing Space Force Command Centers with zero mention of Biden – December 2022
Those few timelines and timestamps do nothing but prove a Military Operation and Occupancy along with many more Laws, Codes, Orders, Statutes, Acts, Optics,
The National Guard has been out of their state militia status and operating as Active-Duty Status every day since they were Federalized in March 2020.
There’s MORE than enough documentation and ‘proof’ to show not only the National Guard, but also thousands of World Alliance Aircrafts in and out of the United States and National Guard bases.
There’s United States Coast Guards with United States Navy at their stations. USCG is Department of Homeland Security during Peacetime and transferred to the Department of the Navy during Wartime.
The Brunson vs. Adams case simply states the obvious… Congress violated the Constitution.
- Benjamin Fulford
I will add; everyone thinks they know what's going on but very few have done any research on Trump's executive orders. Everyone has discarded Q because they have seen dates come and go without seeing any results. Fact is they weren't dates but rather chapters and paragraphs from the law of war manual.
We're going by the Book. Why? Because it has to be done by the rule of law, if not, it's just more crimes being committed.
Sun Tzu - The Art of War... Know your enemy, löök weak when you're strong, infiltrate and use disinformation to confuse the enemy. 🤔

here's what a rough timeline of the whole hc + demayo situation looks like taking all of the rumors like the deuxmoi podcast and everything into account
????
sometime before s2 wraps — hc and demayo allegedly form "a weird alliance"
sometime during the production of s2 — demayo is fired from the witcher for allegedly being emotionally and physically abusive and "#metoo" related reasons
sometime after demayo was fired — hc allegedly "goes to BAT for demayo and tries to get him reinstated and threatens to hold up the production of the show over it"
2021
april 2, 2021 — filming for s2 of the witcher wraps
sometime during summer 2021 — netflix looks into recasting geralt
june 27, 2021 — hc is rumored to've signed on to do 5 more seasons of the witcher, though, the original article from wegothiscovered states: "it might be more of a handshake agreement rather than an actual contract locked in place"
july 9, 2021 — at witchercon, hc pushes the narrative about how important adhering to the source material is to him to deflect from the role he played in the show deviating from the books and because he's big mad that he's co-lead with two women (like the books) and that the show heavily centers around women (like the books)
mid-late july 2021 — the writers' room for s3 opens
july 27, 2021 — demayo is seen on hc's phone
august 23, 2021 — nightmare of the wolf premieres
november 10, 2021 — the article that originates the idea that "hc is willing to do the show for 7 seasons so long as the show respects the source material" is published
november 12, 2021 — after not being properly vetted for why he was fired from the witcher, demayo is hired as the showrunner for x-men 97
december 2021 — during press for s2, hc starts heavily pushing the narrative about how important adhering to the source material is to him to deflect from how he is responsible for, or at least had a hand in, a lot of changes in the show that went against the books and because he's big mad that he's co-lead with two women (like the books) and that the show heavily centers around women (like the books)
december 17, 2021 — s2 of the witcher premieres
2022
april 4, 2022 — filming for s3 of the witcher starts
late july to early august 2022 — production shuts down for 2 weeks apparently due to hc getting covid
sometime during the production of s3 — hc is allegedly fired due to sexist behavior
second half of summer 2022 — liam is hired
sometime during the production of s3 — some staff start following liam on sm
early september 2022 — filming for s3 of the witcher wraps
september 12, 2022 — RI reports that the witcher is rumored to have been renewed for s4 and s5; the cast (sans hc) presumably renegotiate their contracts around this time
october 23, 2022 — demayo lies and says that the witcher writers hate the source material to incite the fanbase against them and the show
october 23, 2022 — the witcher writers deny this and it's revealed that demayo was fired for allegedly being emotionally and physically abusive
october 24, 2022 — hc announces he'll be back as superman, though, according to a report from the wrap: "there’s currently no writer or director attached to the project and there’s currently no formal deal with Cavill to return."
october 29, 2022 — hc announces he will not be returning for the witcher after s3 and that liam will be taking over
november 18, 2022 — the wrap reports the following: "According to numerous insiders with knowledge of the situation, although it has been previously reported that the search for a writer was currently underway, the fact is there’s currently no writer or director attached to the project and there’s currently no formal deal with Cavill to return. Additionally, according to an insider, as it currently stands at the moment there’s no forward momentum on the project while newly installed DC Studio bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran have been busy fine-tuning their long range plan for the DCU."
december 7, 2022 — additional rumors start that hc may not be returning as superman
december 14, 2022 — hc announces that he will not be returning as superman
december 15, 2022 — the deuxmoi podcast episode that alleges that hc was fired for sexist behavior comes out, which includes this bit of information: "[hc] formed a weird alliance with one writer who was also a gamer, who eventually got fired after multiple HR complaints were made"
december 15, 2022 — a comment on reddit appears to corroborate the deuxmoi podcast episode, specifically the part about demayo and how he was fired from the witcher allegedly for "#metoo" related complaints
december 16, 2022 — hc announces his involvement with a warhammer project at amazon
and then obvs there's all the stuff with demayo getting fired from x97 and the leaks about what he was allegedly fired for which appear to corroborate why he was fired from the witcher but i don't really wanna get into that.

Fully updated list with dates for all Robert mentions (plus other somewhat Rob related show content) we've had since Aaron's return in October 2023. Please note that the quotes are not exact as I just write them down from memory.
Pinned to my blog and I'll add more as we go
2023
○ October 18 - Aaron tells Vinny 'maybe I like the memories' after moving in to the second Mill flat
• October 27 - Rhona quips 'That worked out really well for Robert' in front of Aaron when he was talking about going after Craig
• December 13 - Victoria tells Aaron 'You sound like you're speaking from experience' when Aaron said she should wait for Jacob if he's the one. Followed by her then saying 'Speaking of the one, Robert's doing okay'.
2024
○ January 15 - Aaron's drunken pause to Victoria
• January 18 - Charity reminds Aaron of the time he and Robert were 'raising Seb together', * first Seb mention in years
• January 30 - Aaron rattles of all the 'ghosts' on his list to Mack, but Robert was the only on there that's still alive, * first time Aaron has spoken Robert's name since his exit episode in 2021
° March 1 - Aaron tells Vinny he will probably never have kids, so zero chance to pass on a faulty gene
• August 8 - Victoria tells John about their brother Robert, she also says to Eric that she's going to tell Robert about John, later Aaron has a very visible reaction to learning he's unknowingly hooked up with Robert's half brother and John looks at an old Sugden family photo at Vic's house
• August 9 - Aaron emotionally tells his mum that 'It's brought everything back - about Robert' and that he 'can't go there again'
• Aug 13 - Aaron says to Chas that he 'never would have gone there' if he had known John was Robert's brother
○ Aug 16 - Aaron advises Vinny that it's no use 'pining for someone who isn't there anymore'
• Aug 27 - Vic tells John 'It's nice to have someone in my corner, I haven't had that since Robert went away'
° Aug 29 - Victoria tells Aaron and John that this is 'messed up' and questions if Aaron wants to sleep with all her brothers
• Sep 2 - Vic tells Aaron him being involved with Robert's brother is 'a bit weird', Aaron tells her 'John won't replace Robert' for either of them, later John says he's 'not been auditioning as Robert's replacement'
• Sep 23 - Vic has found old family photos and wants to show John, mentions 'Rob and Andy' twice. Later, she finds out John's still seeing Aaron, and tells him 'You know Aaron is married to Robert, our brother?' (Yes, is, not was!)
• Oct 29 - Charity questions where Rebecca and Seb are after Ross brings Moses to an illegal fight *Second Seb mention this year, Charity also mentioned him in january
• Oct 30 - Ross talks about Seb a lot, while Charity asks if Robert knows about Rebecca's death. He just looks at her funny and doesn't answer, just says as far as he knows, he's still in prison
• Oct 31 - Robert is talked about throughout the whole episode, as is Seb, as Ross explains he went to see Robert in prison, where he signed papers for Seb to live in Bristol with Rebecca's aunt
• Nov 5 - More Robert and Seb talk, actual meaningful talk too, with Aaron reminicing of a time he had 'everything'. This one is extra significant because it shows Aaron looking at a photo of Robert and Seb on Vic's keychain 💛🍋
• Nov 6 - Even more Robert and Seb talk, Aaron tries to make out to John that just because he's thinking about Seb doesn't mean he still loves his dad. John doesn't believe him, and of course we don't either! Then John says rude things about Robert, which sets Aaron right off!
• Nov 8 - John apologises to Aaron for being weird about him and Robert

From summer into fall, SARS-CoV-2, the COVID-19 virus, ran up another epidemiological spike just as the feds sunset their pandemic control program.
While the virus continues along a loop of boom and bust repeatedly reset by its capacity for evolutionary escape, putting people in the hospital and out of work at a steady clip, U.S. officials and well-connected epidemiologists have abandoned public health in both practice and concept.
Alongside entrapping millions of Americans in a Long COVID vortex, such dereliction of duty places the U.S. in danger should other diseases arise, including, but not limited to, an avian influenza strain that even now is moving beyond cow herds and poultry flocks and beginning to spread in humans.
The COVID-19 pandemic that some of our most august epidemiologists pretend is over portends a broader decline in the very notion of the public commons upon which any functional society depends.
The State of the COVID Nation What’s the present state of the U.S.’s COVID-19 outbreak?
The National Wastewater Surveillance System (NWSS) reports a large majority of its data set of viral load in sewage plants tracked from September 9 to 23 to be in the orange and red zone of 60 percent or more of all the samples taken nationally since December 2021. That is, all those hot points on the NWSS map tell us the viral load in populations across the U.S. is now as high (and widespread) as any previous COVID peak.
On the other hand, the more acute NWSS measure of changes in SARS-2 sewage loads over the 15 days leading up to September 23 shows a mosaic of declines and increases, indicating differences at the sewershed level we still don’t understand.
NWSS tracks only 1,479 of the 16,000 publicly owned wastewater plants, which together serve at best 80 percent of the U.S. population. So, consider the NWSS map of SARS-CoV-2 loads just a snapshot.
The Walgreens COVID-19 Index of national test positivity covers both rapid tests and the more gold-standard polymerase chain reaction tests little available at this point. As of September 29, we see a decline to 21.8 percent of all tests Walgreens processes nationally from 40 percent earlier in the summer, but still as high as most points in the pandemic. The number of tests remains comparatively high, which at this late date in the pandemic may in itself serve as a measure of incidence. People are getting tested because they’re feeling sick.
There’s a geography to this. For late September, we see increases in test positivity in order of sizes of increase, in New Hampshire, Idaho, Oklahoma, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, among other states, with New York presently hovering at 35.9 percent positive. These numbers were once available down to the county level until the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) abandoned such mapping.
Syndromic surveillance offers another view of the pandemic. We see from Epic Research hospital reports of ICD-10 codes mapped between August 25 and September 7 for COVID infections per 100,000 hospital tests, states in the South and Appalachia are getting hit relatively hard, with the national hospital positivity rate at 16 percent. Hospitals across the U.S. were once required to report in such incidences on a weekly basis. Now only a few voluntarily report.
With such reporting now blacked out, infectious disease modeler J.P. Weiland is using wastewater data from Biobot Analytics and available CDC seropositivities to project COVID cases per day in the U.S. He reports we were at over 589,000 new COVID infections for the single day of September 19.
This summer’s peak isn’t the 5 million infections a day of the first Omicron wave that Weiland estimated in late 2021, but nearly a million infections a day in early August is well within the range of nearly every other COVID peak so far. COVID isn’t tailing off one peak to the next.
Weiland hasn’t released a detailed methodology, which makes the projection’s validity unconfirmed, although the general gestalt of his time series is probably on point. If these estimates are anywhere close to reality, much more forgiving global and U.S. data should now be rated “junk” and the pandemic considered still at strength — especially, as we previously described, as the virus has been given the public health green light to continue to explore its evolutionary possibilities.
Indeed, we see the outbreak stateside continuing to evolve, with a broad mix of 22 sublineages in play, and, as projected September 28, varieties of global variant of concern KP.3 and LB.1 leading the way.
Molecular biologist Raj Rajnarayanan’s 30-day mosaic shows all the genetic sequences of detected sublineages in the U.S. as of September 27, including their geographic origins. We see the near entirety of the country hosting variant JN and its infectious FLiRT offspring, the LBs and KPs 1, 2 and 3. We see the arrival of yet another new lineage, the highly transmissible XEC.
The Real Damage of Long COVID Remains A pandemic’s outcome is a matter of pathogen and host alike. So, while we see the SARS-CoV-2 virus still chugging along, the host population it infects has largely chosen to drop out of the pandemic fight.
While COVID death rates aren’t approaching those of 2020, we are nowhere near a 2019 world as the near entirety of the U.S. establishment pretends. The Swiss Re Institute reports U.S. and U.K. excess mortality rates still at 3 percent and 2.5 percent above pre-pandemic levels.
But here we have both U.S. political parties — and both presidential candidates — placing the ongoing pandemic behind us for good, save for scoring electoral points. The feds are sunsetting bridge funding for COVID antivirals and vaccines, the latter suddenly costing $200 for the uninsured. No wonder, as Science Communications Director Lucky Tran posts, half the Americans in a recent Ipsos poll incredibly expect never to get infected again.
The mass leap away from the reality of a still deadly infection is more from a push from a government that ostensibly holds the monopoly on national health intervention. The U.S. population would likely respond otherwise if signaled so from its elected leadership. Tran reminds us that a 2022 CDC report showed people are more likely to mask when alerted about local outbreaks by public health authorities. Without alerts, on the other hand, Americans are erring on the side of little to no masking.
The resulting health toll continues to beat up the population. Health analyst Mike Hoerger of the Pandemic Mitigation Collaborative — whose models for daily COVID incidences typically run hotter than Weiland’s at 669,000 as of September 30 — projects 1 million to 4 million new Long COVID cases coming out of infections this past month alone.
Previous work showed and estimated that between 5 percent and 30 percent of people infected enter the whirlpool of a Long COVID syndrome for which few tests are available for diagnosis, and there are few prophylaxes available or in development to treat current patients.
A Patient-Led Collaborative Group preprint reporting the results of a survey of 3,300 participants found that increasing the number of SARS-CoV-2 infections a person gets increases the risks of Long COVID, worse Long COVID symptoms and greater overall impairment. Reinfections also appear to diminish the protective effects that vaccination may offer against Long COVID. Few of the surveyed reported Long COVID remission.
The damage extends beyond bodily health. The Wall Street Journal, focusing on the professional-managerial class, ran a story headlined “Long Covid Knocked a Million Americans Off Their Career Paths.”
Understandably, the article was widely retweeted by professionals who lamented their previous 60-hour work weeks and personal bests and marked how far they had fallen. Their work ethic proved no prevention against Long COVID’s siege of microclots, brain damage, cognitive collapse and post-exertional malaise that made some unable to get out of bed for weeks.
Long COVID also impacts many on the other end of the socioeconomic spectrum. A new survey of 7,000-plus adults found low-income Long COVID patients suffered greater food insecurity, especially those who didn’t participate in public food assistance programs.
It isn’t just adults suffering. New research out of the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) RECOVER program found similar but distinguishable differences in symptoms between children and adolescents among the 5,300 youth it studied, leading RECOVER to declare Long COVID “a public health crisis” for a population some epidemiologists expediently presented as little affected by the infection.
Acknowledging Failures to Keep Them Going Noting that recent COVID deaths in the U.S. were double those of last spring, this New York Times piece from August took a meta view of the failure to see, observing that we no longer observe: “We Have Largely Moved on From Covid, but Covid Isn’t Done With Us” reads the print edition.
But such a gesture at the gap in reality that the newspaper itself helped condition offers the ruling class that effectively ended the COVID campaign permission to continue to ignore the duly noted failure.
The Times interviewed epidemiologists at the highest professional levels about the gap:
"Michael Osterholm, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, said the newfound complacency can as much be attributed to confusion as to fatigue. The virus remains remarkably unpredictable: Covid variants are still evolving much faster than influenza variants, and officials who want to “pigeonhole” Covid into having a well-defined seasonality will be unnerved to discover that the 10 surges in the United States so far have been evenly distributed throughout all four seasons, he said. Those factors, combined with waning immunity, point to a virus that still evades our collective understanding — in the context of a collective psychology that is ready to move on. Even at a meeting of 200 infectious disease experts in Washington earlier this month — a number of whom were over 65 and had not been vaccinated in four to six months — hardly anybody donned a mask."
And how did officials and the public arrive at such a confusion? After all, other scientists and practitioners standing outside the establishment’s umbrella of respectability debunked the notion that all was well and repeatedly alerted the world to the broader system’s complicit silence.
I wrote in August 2022 that Osterholm himself helped inculcate the confusion:
"Mike Osterholm, who the Times failed to identify as part of the administration’s COVID Advisory Board, converged on this courageous line: “I think [the CDC] are attempting to meet up with the reality that everyone in the public is pretty much done with this pandemic.” A reality the administration worked hard to help manufacture by deft incompetence."
The Times also interviewed epidemiologist Bill Hanage to the effect scientists were themselves confused and that allowed him the freedom of an argument by ex falso quodlibet, a principle from which any proposition can be derived from a contradiction:
"Epidemiologists have long predicted that Covid would eventually become an endemic disease, rather than a pandemic. “If you ask six epidemiologists what ‘endemic’ means, exactly, you’ll probably get about 12 answers,” said Bill Hanage, associate director of the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. “But it certainly has a sort of social definition – a virus that’s around us all the time – and if you want to take that one, then we’re definitely there.”"
Ugly sophistry. In actuality, the time series of COVID outbreaks stateside in no way represent the kind of evolutionarily predictable seasonal variants we find in endemic influenza.
And the “socially defined” endemicity to which Hanage alludes was in part of his own making. In one CNN report, we find Hanage alongside Osterholm providing Biden’s CDC cover for dropping recommendations for quarantining at home and testing people without symptoms, brandishing another fallacy:
"Bill Hanage, an epidemiologist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, agrees that the new guidance shows that the CDC is trying to meet people where they are. “I think that this is a point where you actually have to sort of get real and start giving people tools they can use to do something or not. Because otherwise, people will just not take you seriously,” Hanage said."
An appeal to popularity is no epidemiological principle on which to base a response to a pandemic that’s killed anywhere from 1.2 to 1.5 million Americans.
Public Health Rebellion From Below In other words, Osterholm and Hanage and others aren’t the neutral observers they pretend to be, along with the Times.
Rather, they track disease only up to the point the political class can bear, helping bury the problem when it’s inconvenient. Liberals who are upset that science is met with public distrust might ask whether anyone concerned about outbreaks would listen to these brilliant scientists without suspicions they’re catering to other (well-funded) objectives.
How many times will these “men who stare at vaccines” ask us to run into our epidemiological walls — to reference the George Clooney movie about the Pentagon’s First Earth Battalion — as if our reductionist atoms can just pass through those of SARS-CoV-2, avian influenza, mpox, and the queue of other pathogens emerging out of an alienated nature and expropriated circuits of global production?
Vaccines are always only a part of any public health campaign, and their successful deployment depends on the very nonpharmaceutical interventions and structural changes the feds have insisted we abandon.
Figures of authority across local jurisdictions have similarly blanched. Political leaders — turning now to punishing people who continue to mask — are feeding their own health into the COVID maw held agape by establishment epidemiologists.
The best way to contact the dead in the data, these scientist “seancists” signal, is to help usher a public of biased optimists they’ve cultivated to their graves. The CDC continue to invite Americans “just this way, please,” once again adjusting down its color code scheme for its maps to imply we’re in less danger than we are.
Bipartisan rounds of strategic obfuscation follow each new COVID wave as if set as an algorithm. At this end of the U.S. cycle of accumulation, when capital cashes out and disinvests from the public commons, it’s only such manipulation that’s now endemic.
As the Pandemic ThinkTank described early in the pandemic, abandoned by the feds, we need to pursue a revolt from below. Community groups and local public health departments need to work together to reconstruct our public commons to handle the diseases and other disasters already here or on their way.

🎈 Happy 25th birthday to the Live Aus Berlin album, released on this day in 1999 (30/08/1999) 🎂
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Recording took place on 22 and 23 August 1998. Later that year, Motor Music invited 200 fans to a choir singing session in Berlin to create more crowd noise for Live aus Berlin's post-production.
It contains a live performance of nearly every song from the band's debut album, Herzeleid (9 out of 11 songs, excluding"Der Meister" and "Das Alte Leid", and most of the songs from their second album, Sehnsucht, excluding "Alter Mann", "Eifersucht", and "Küss Mich (Fellfrosch)".
The CD was released in three different formats: The standard version included one CD with 15 songs on it, missing the songs Herzeleid, Klavier, and Tier. The special edition includes 2 CDs with the full recording. The special edition was also released at German WOM (World Of Music) stores with printed signatures on the case. On 29 October 2021, the standard CD was re-released in a digipak.
The original DVD from 1999 includes a quiz, which you can only play when you insert the DVD into your computer. The quiz contains 140 questions with three possible answers. The quiz is divided into two levels. When finishing the first level, the user gets told on how to enter the hidden music video for Stripped. After finishing the second level, the DVD shared a link and a password to download a Rammstein screensaver from the website.
In September 1999, the complete uncensored live video (with Bück Dich) was presented in eight German cities.

Louis Tomlinson and Pete Doherty‘s record label have come together to release new music by emerging artist Andrew Cushin. Check out his latest track ‘Wor Flags’ below.
Both the former One Direction star and The Libertines frontman are set to support the emerging singer-songwriter with the release of his upcoming debut album, ‘Waiting For The Rain’.
Released on September 29, the LP will be made available from Doherty’s own ‘Strap Originals’ – an independent record label devoted to signing new, original artists and retaining their right to evolve and take creative control over their own work. Pre-orders are available here.
Now, following his time playing to sold-out crowds across the US as support to Louis Tomlinson on his ‘Faith In The Future’ world tour, Tomlinson has also offered to lend a supporting hand with the album release, and looks to help Cushin reach a wider audience.
Both Tomlinson and Cushin met last year after the former caught Cushin’s appearance on the Sky Sports show Soccer AM. After being impressed by his performance, he offered him a support slot in London, which then led to support shows across the US and Europe through 2023. From there, Tomlinson and Doherty bonded over their mutual admiration for the artist.
“As somebody who has been interested in up-and-coming acts, working with Andrew was a no-brainer. With his incredible voice partnered with his honesty in lyric I’m really excited to work alongside Peter and the Strap Originals team to help Andrew reach as many people as possible,” said Tomlinson, discussing his vow to support the release of ‘Waiting For The Rain’.
Additionally, speaking of the encouragement from both Doherty and Tomlinson, Cushin said: “It’s amazing to have someone as established as Louis fighting in my corner. It’s been a pleasure getting to know him on and off the stage and I’m learning a great deal from him and his team. I’m looking forward to what I know will be an enjoyable and hugely beneficial collaboration together.”
Earlier this week, Cushin released ‘Wor Flags’ – the latest single from his forthcoming album. Check it out above.
A song devoted to embracing the now and choosing to escape from everyday troubles, the track arrived on Wednesday (August 2) and is the fifth track to be shared from the LP – following ‘It’s Coming Round Again’, ‘4.5%’, ‘You’ll Be Free’ and ‘Dream For A Moment’.
Previous single, ‘It’s Coming Round Again’ arrived back in June, and featured an intimate music video, which was filmed during Cushin’s time touring across North America with Tomlinson.
Later this year, following the release of ‘Waiting For The Rain’ Cushin is also set to embark on a UK headline tour, including two nights at Newcastle’s prestigious City Hall. Tickets and a full list of tour dates can be found here.
Although he signed to Doherty’s record label back in October 2021, this was far from the first time that the 23-year-old songwriter has received backing from an indie legend. Back in 2020, the rising star also joined forces with Noel Gallagher, and the two released the track ‘Where’s My Family Gone’.

For those of you who are curious about this, here’s all the data I gathered for the counter I made:
Far Cry was first introduced as a demo at E3 2002, which started on May 22, and was released 671 days later, on March 23, 2004.
Far Cry Instincts was announced only 15 days after the release of Far Cry, on April 7, 2004, and came out 538 days after that, on September 27, 2005.
Far Cry Instincts: Evolution and Far Cry Instincts: Predator were announced and released together, on January 11, 2006, so 106 days after Far Cry Instincts came out, and on March 28, 2006, so 76 days after their announcement.
Far Cry Vengeance was announced 128 days after that, on August 3, 2006, and it took 131 more days for it to come out, on December 12, 2006.
Far Cry 2 was announced on July 19, 2007, 219 days after the release of Vengeance, and came out 460 days later, on October 21, 2008.
Far Cry 3 was announced at E3 2011 during the Ubisoft conference on June 7, so 959 days after the release of its predecessor, which is the longest time so far! Then, it came out 541 days later, on November 29, 2012.
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon was announced 123 days later, on April 1st, 2013 (genius move), and released only 29 days after that, on April 30, 2013.
Far Cry 4 was officially revealed on social media on May 15, 2014, 380 days after Blood Dragon became available, and came out on November 18, 2014, 187 days later.
Far Cry Primal was announced 322 days after that with a trailer on October 6, 2015, and it took 140 more days for it to come out, on February 23, 2016.
Far Cry 5 was first introduced with a series of teaser trailers posted on May 22, 2017, so 454 days after Primal, and finally came out 309 days later, on March 27, 2018.
Far Cry New Dawn was revealed via a short video posted on social media on December 5, 2018, 253 days after the release of its predecessor, and was available only 72 days later, on February 15, 2019.
Far Cry 6 was officially introduced on July 10, 2020, shortly before the Ubisoft Forward livestream and 511 days after New Dawn came out. The game was initially scheduled to come out in February but had to be delayed, partly because of the pandemic, and was eventually released on October 7, 2021, 454 days after its announcement.
The last Far Cry 6 expansion, Lost Between World, was made available on December 6, 2022, 425 days after the release of the main game. Since that day, there hasn’t been any official announcement regarding the next Far Cry game.
I was also wondering how many days there were between the release dates of all the main games in the franchise. The answer is:
1,673 days between Far Cry and Far Cry 2
1,502 days between Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 3
719 days between Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4
1,225 days between Far Cry 4 and Far Cry 5
1,290 days between Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 6
