🎈 Happy 27th birthday to the single, "Du Hast" released on this day in 1997 (21 June 1997) 🎂

It was released as the second single from their second album Sehnsucht (1997). It has appeared on various soundtracks for films, most notably The Matrix: Music from the Motion Picture, and featured in the music video games Guitar Hero 5 and Rock Band 3. The song's title is a play on the homophones du hasst ("you hate") and du hast ("you have").

There are two versions of the song: the original version completely in German, and a second version partially in English (found on special editions of the Sehnsucht album). In the second version, the first chorus and the verses are in English and the last chorus is in German. The English lyrics are not a direct translation of the German; the original lyrics take advantage of a pair of German homophones: when conjugated in the second person singular form (i.e. "you"), the verbs haben (to have) and hassen (to hate) become respectively du hast and du hasst, which sound identical

The song’s chorus, “Willst du bis der Tod euch scheidet, treu ihr sein für alle Tage?” translates to “Do you want to be faithful to her until death separates you, all the days?”

The lyrics reference traditional German wedding vows that go, “Willst du bis der Tod euch scheidet, treu ihr sein alle Tage?” (Do you want to be faithful to her all the days until death separates you?).

In 1999, “Du Hast” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance but didn't win.

Okay, I have found the official lithuanian article and a Lithuanian police statement regarding all of this, so I’ll do my best to translate it :

“According to R. Matonis [the police pr representative] the women told the circumstances of the incident, but she didn’t give any claim (or pretensions) to anyone ( I don’t know how to translate the word pretenzijų into English right).

“She didn’t have any pretensions to anyone , or (baiscally she didn’t have any claims to anyone ),the official police report has not been filed (from her). ..” The information has been given to the 3rd division of Vilniaus city police for the further clarification of it. The women is cooperating with the police officers in clarifying the circumstances of the incident”. -Says the police representative.

The women at this time, according to R. Matonis, has flown back to her country (I’m assuming she has flown back home, because it says foreign country).

R. Matonis noted, that because the police report has not been received (from the alleged victim), the pre-trial investigation officially wasn’t started.

Sorry for any mistakes but yeah, it’s a new info and I thought people would want to know.
