"In a major change that could affect millions of Americans' credit scores, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on Tuesday [January 7, 2025] finalized a rule to remove medical debt from consumer credit reports.
The rule would erase an estimated $49 billion in unpaid medical bills from the credit reports of roughly 15 million Americans, the CFPB said.
That could help boost those borrowers' credit scores by an average of 20 points, helping them qualify for mortgages and other loans.
"No one should be denied economic opportunity because they got sick or experienced a medical emergency," Vice President Kamala Harris said in a statement touting the new rule.
She announced the proposal for the rule last June alongside CFPB Director Rohit Chopra.
"This will be life-changing for millions of families, making it easier for them to be approved for a car loan, a home loan or a small-business loan," Harris added.
Major credit reporting agencies have already announced voluntary steps to remove medical debt from their reports.
The final rule is set to take effect in March [2025] – but that timeline could be delayed by legal challenges."

Dean Obeidallah at The Dean's Report:
The despicable effort by corporate oligarchs—many of who helped elect Donald Trump—to convince the rest of us to submit to Donald Trump is now in full gear. On Saturday, we saw the jaw-dropping announcement by ABC News—owned by Disney-- that the corporation had agreed to pay Trump $15 million in a bogus defamation lawsuit Trump would have NEVER won. ABC also agreed to publicly apologize and pay Trump’s lawyers $1 million in legal fees. The lawsuit arises from ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos’s exchange with GOP Rep. Nancy Mace in March when Stephanopoulos pressed Mace on how--as a survivor of sexual assault--she could support Trump given his history of sexual assault. One specific exchange cited by Trump’s lawyers was when Stephanopoulos challenged Mace to explain how she could endorse Trump after “judges and two separate juries have found him liable for rape and for defaming the victim of that rape” in the E. Jean Carrol civil case.
Trump’s defamation lawsuit alleged that Stephanopoulos knew Trump was never find liable of “rape”—only sexual assault—and, thus, had defamed him. But two things here. First, federal judge Lewis Kaplan--who presided over E. Jean Carroll defamation/sexual assault case—in his written opinion stated the jury had in fact determined Trump had “raped” Carroll. Judge Kaplan addressed this when considering Trump’s claim the damage award against him was too high because the jury didn’t find Trump had committed “rape” as narrowly defined by NY penal law. But the judge wrote that based on the evidence, Trump had raped Carroll in the way “many people commonly understand the word ‘rape.’” The Judge added, “Indeed, as the evidence at trial recounted below makes clear, the jury found that Mr. Trump in fact did exactly that.” I make that point as a lawyer who handled defamation cases to note that truth is a valid defense in every defamation case. Judge Kaplan’s opinion is the key to ABC News winning this case.
In addition, ABC News has another very strong defense. In a defamation case involving a public figure like Trump, the plaintiff has an added burden of showing not only that a statement is false but that the comment was made with “actual malice.” That means even if Stephanopoulos was wrong in saying Trump was found liable of “rape,” Trump would need to show Stephanopoulos knew that statement was false when he said that or “consciously chose to recklessly disregard the high probability that” the comment was false. But Stephanopoulos clearly could rely in good faith on Judge Kaplan’s written opinion that the jury had in fact found Trump raped Carroll when making his statement.
This is why Trump would’ve lost this case--as legal experts that focus on defamation told the NY Times. For example, RonNell Andersen Jones, a professor of law at the University of Utah, explained: “Major news organizations have often been very leery of settlements in defamation suits brought by public officials and public figures, both because they fear the dangerous pattern of doing so and because they have the full weight of the First Amendment on their side.” All of that is important to understand that ABC News also knew it would have ultimately prevail in the case--but they settled out of fear. They were bending a knee to Trump because during the campaign, Trump had threatened to take ABC’s broadcast license away after the presidential debate because the moderators fact checked his lies. Trump pointedly declared on Fox News: "They ought to take away their license for the way they did that."
With Trump now a month from being sworn in and his pick to head the Federal Communications Commission being Brendan Carr, an author of the far-right Project 2025, ABC News and other media outlets are fearful of how the Trump regime will target them. As MSNBC’s Ja'han Jones wrote, Carr is the type of “media attack dog” that will enable the GOP to follow the playbook of their beloved Hungarian strongman Viktor Orbán and use the agency to silence critics of Trump. ABC News should have never bent a knee to Trump with this unheard of surrender this early in a case they would’ve won. But they were not alone in capitulating to Trump this week.
[...] However, there is also a fear factor at play here as well.
ABC News made a very stupid decision to bend the knee to autocrat-elect Donald Trump by settling, and that’s because ABC would likely have won their case. They are doing this out of fear of Trump handing out reprisals to outlets even slightly critical of him.

Welcome to 118 Daily Drabble
118 Prompts; 118 Words; 100 Days
Starting TOMORROW, November 27th, around 1:00pm EST, a one word prompt will be posted to this blog for 100 consecutive days with the final prompt posting on March 6th, 2025 (8B premiere day.)
Anyone who wants to can use the word to write a 9-1-1 drabble that equals exactly 118 words. This is a real drabble challenge.
General Rules:
Drabbles must be 118 words exactly. (Since different word counters sometimes give different results, we are using AO3 as a standard.)
The word of the day must be included in your drabble. However, the words themselves do not need to be exact. For example, if the word is zip, it could be used as zip, zipping, zipper, zipped, and unzip. The words may also have double meanings and can be used either way. For example, complex can mean both difficult or can mean a group of similar buildings. Both would be accepted.
There are 18 words that can be used as replacement words throughout. If the word of the day isn't inspiring you, you can use one of the 18 replacement words instead.
If you aren’t a writer or are inspired to create something for a prompt that isn’t writing, please feel free! As long as the creation incorporates the prompt, it is allowed. (Other creations could be art, poetry, podfic, etc.)
Content Rules:
Drabbles must use characters from 9-1-1 on ABC. (You can write for 911LS if you’d like, but only drabbles from 9-1-1 on ABC will be reblogged and/or accepted as part of the collection.)
There are no content restrictions. As long as your fic is tagged appropriately, you can write whatever you want. (This includes ratings, warnings, ships, etc. We are not here to police writing, only to encourage it.)
Crossovers and original characters are accepted as long as the main focus is on 9-1-1 on ABC.
Drabbles can be posted to the 118 Daily Drabble AO3 Collection here or using the tag #118dailydrabble.
FAQ:
Do the drabbles have to be 118 words?
Yes! That’s the fun and challenge of the event. (To be honest, I will not be checking every single word count for the drabbles… but I trust everyone not to lie to me. Please don’t lie to me, I’m fragile.)
Do I have to write every single day if I choose to participate?
Absolutely not! You can choose to write as little as 1 prompt or all 118, that’s totally up to you!
Do I have to post my drabbles on AO3?
Nope! There will be a collection for them, but you can also just post to Tumblr/X/Bluesky/Internet-Place if you prefer. This event will only have a Tumblr in terms of reblogging content but feel free to use the tag #118dailydrabble on other platforms.
Can I make a chaptered fic on AO3 for this event?
Absolutely. If you choose to do a chaptered fic, each drabble must be its own chapter, though.
Are you going to post the words at the same time everyday?
Yes! Barring any Tumblr errors, the word will be posted to this blog everyday at 1:00pm.
Where can I find past words?
You can find them here!
What are the extra 18 words?
1. Dosed 2. Broken 3. Rage 4. Malfunction 5. Fallout 6. Fools 7. Powerless 8. Jinx 9. Survivors 10. Panic 11. Cursed 12. Recovery 13. Capsized 14. Buzzkill 15. Masks 16. Confessions 17. Hotshots 18. Wannabes
Have more questions? Feel free to send an ask here!

2025: week 9
sportsball: 1 ncaa women's basketball conference tournaments. that's right, i'm about to become a basketball gay. i set myself a goal, i gathered intel at con on how to go about it, and this is what's happening. i have a notion database. i am going to learn.
music 1: alex layhe at the evelyn. sometimes going along to see people whose music you're only loosely familiar with is the best idea.
music 2 / lady gaga 1: mayhem. i don't love this. this thing happened over the last ten years where she was so far ahead of the curve but kept making the same music (religion, medical metaphors, celebrity) over and over and along the way everyone overtook her. there are a couple of songs i fuck with, but while she was off doing adult contemporary or whatever i stopped being able to take her voice seriously as a pop singer.
lady gaga 2: lady gaga asmr for w. i do, however, entirely fuck with this. the haircut portion caused me physical pain from laughing so hard, but it's also pretty decent as an asmr video. incidentally, the nephew tonight was like, i listen to asmr when i'm watching animal crossing tutorials so i don't get bored, which is, uh, alarming.
lady gaga 3: 'no more slay', with bowen yang on snl. taking this one with me to my deathbed.
tv 1: the newsreader, season 3 (abc tv). you're the real one, helen norville. idk, the final moments to this feels so precious to me, to see something set in what's pretty widely acknowledged as a horrifically backwards era in this country end on such a hopeful note without devolving into pure sentimental glop. it didn't feel like an alternative reality, but a nod to the fact that queer people didn't just pop up out of nowhere in 1995 in australia, that this was the first time people were brave enough to start talking about mental health issues in a serious way. we're pretty bad at looking back here, perpetually cringing at even our most recent history, but i think we're getting better at it, or maybe it's just me that's trying to grow out of that reflex, but i was four in 1989, and this show felt like a place i lived in that didn't feel embarrassed or embarrassing for once.
food 1: el columpio, johnston street fitzroy. after all the good mexican in california, i have set myself the challenge to hit the top of the list places in melbourne to see what compares. so far: fucking winner.
food 2: the egg video from a few weeks back has enlightening, but this week i have taken it to a whole new level with a infrared temperature gun. i might actually be cooking the best eggs on earth right now.

🌟🗓CURRENT MONTHLY CREATION EVENT: SPN ABC's April ⬅
What will you find here?
The purpose of this blog is to collect SPN graphics, edits, and manips, with a focus on static images, though some gif edits may be reblogged, specifically creative / colorful gifsets, gifsets using typography, and manip gifs.
We also plan to host graphics challenges and other events to foster the creation of more fan graphics and manips!
Mod boundaries: Content related to incest ships or NSFW content between underage characters or minor / adult relationships will not be reblogged.
🚫 absolutely NO AI created content🚫
** I will do my best to ensure nothing AI created is posted here but if you notice something please let me know. This blog is to celebrate fandom creatives and the hard work that goes into making graphics.
Categorization
graphics will be used as an umbrella category for all static image creations.
gifs will be used for all gif content.
edits will refer to creative content that primarily involves edits to images, using color, textures, and typography.
manips will refer to creative content that creates a new scenario / image.
**there is sometimes a fine line between what is an "edit" vs "manip" and overlap does occur but we will try our best to stay consistent with tagging. Some graphics may simply be tagged as both.
Navigation Tags
characters will be tagged as ch: [first name last name] (where applicable) such as ch: dean winchester or ch: castiel
ships will be tagged by popular ship name (ex: destiel, drowley, samwena) or names together (ex: jocassie, jodydonna, deanvictor).
platonic relationships will be tagged as first names separated by "and" (ex: dean and mary, castiel and claire, etc)
this is done for navigation purposes and so people only interested in certain characters / ships can also easily filter out content they don't want to see.
disclaimer: we may also reblog edits / manips attached to fics. These posts will be tagged as "fics" and are not personal recommendations by this blog, we are just reblogging for the graphics.

SHINONOME ABYSS: The Maiden Exorcist delayed to 2025 - Gematsu
Tumblr media
Publishers Kadokawa Corporation, Kadokawa Game Linkage, and ABC ANIMATION, and developer WODAN have delayed roguelike horror action game SHINONOME ABYSS: The Maiden Exorcist from its previously planned fall 2024 release window to 2025. It will be available for Switch and PC via Steam.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
The main character is a shrine maiden named Yono, who has to survive in a haunted houses where Mononoke (yokai and vengeful spirits) lurk, using a limited number of items and traps in this strategy roguelike horror action game!
Shrine Maiden Yono Takes on the Challenge of Escaping From Numerous Haunted Houses in This Roguelike!
Following in the footsteps of her missing Onmyouji brother, shrine maiden Yono arrives at a terrifying place where Mononoke (yokai and other vengeful spirits) live. The very structure of the mansion changes every time you enter. There are three game modes: “Harai,” “Misogi,” and “Gyou,” with “Gyou” being the highest difficulty mode, in which players compete to see how long they can survive in an endless dungeon
The Goal is to Escape From the Haunted House and Defeat the Mononoke by Making Full Use of the Traps and Devices Hidden in the House!
First, confirm the type and number of Mononoke by listening to noises coming from the next room, finding traces of the Mononoke, etc. Try to surmise the fighting style of the Mononoke and defeat them by setting up traps and then calling them over to you by making noises so they fall in the traps you made. You can also try to understand the structure of the mansion and defeat the Mononoke by luring them into open fireplaces and pits. Defeating them in this way allows you to gain and save items as well. Survival here requires knowledge, experience, and courage. When Yono is in grave danger, another side of her personality appears, and she is greatly strengthened. Predicting and controlling this change is also a key to success.
Various Elements Have Been Greatly Improved from the Previous Game!
The game has been significantly improved from the previous Shinonome, with more Mononoke appearing, more traps and items, more dungeons and a big boss. The addition of Yono’s other personality is also a new element. Based on the player’s feedback from the previous game, the game content itself has also undergone tuning in order to make it easier to play.

Abbott Elementary (January 2025)
The Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover is a two-part fictional crossover event between the ABC workplace comedy Abbott Elementary and the FXX black comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia that was produced for broadcast in 2025. In the event, "the Gang", a group of narcissistic and sociopathic proprietors are given a court order to volunteer in an underprivileged elementary school in Philadelphia. Both episodes tell the same story, but through the viewpoints of their own characters. The crossover began on Abbott Elementary with the ninth episode of the fourth season, "Volunteers". It aired on January 8, 2025. A second part is expected to air in June 2025 as the first episode in the seventeenth season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The crossover was first conceived after Quinta Brunson and Rob McElhenney, the respective creators of Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, met at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards and joked that their shows should crossover. Conversations continued later in the year before being pitched to the Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger, where it became a reality. The production team of both series faced further challenges acquiring legal approvals and issues with scheduling. "Volunteers" was written by Garrett Werner and directed by Randall Einhorn, while the second part was written by McElhenney and Keyonna Taylor and directed by Todd Biermann. The popularity of both series led to it being considered a highly-anticipated crossover. The first part was seen by 3.76 million viewers and received mostly positive reviews from critics. If you were one of the thousands of people who tuned into the first two episodes of Good American Family on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, then you probably found yourself wondering where you had seen the cast before. Well, there’s no need to guess, because we’ve found out where stars like Ellen Pompeo, Mark Duplass and more are from! Read on for the full info.  Ellen Pompeo as Kristine Barnett Ellen Pompeo as Kristine BarnettDisney/Ser Baffo Ellen Pompeo is best known for her role as Dr. Meredith Grey in the hit ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. She has been there since 2005 and starred in over 440 episodes. It’s a role that earned her the title of “highest-paid TV actress of all time.”  Pompeo is still on the show, which is currently in its 21st season, despite also having a starring role in Good American Family.  “I was looking for a real creative challenge. I think this was an opportunity for me to completely disappear into a role,″ Pompeo said of the series. ”Characters like this don’t come along all that often.” The actress has been married to Chris Ivery since 2007 and has three kids.  Mark Duplass as Michael Barnett Mark Duplass as Michael BarnettDisney/Ser Baffo Emmy Award-winning actor Mark Duplass was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on December 7, 1976.  Before joining The Good American Family cast, he appeared in things like Your Sister’s Sister (2011), The One I Love (2014), The League (2009 to 2015), Creep (2014), Togetherness (2015 to 2016), Paddington (2019), Bombshell (2019), The Morning Show (2019 to 2023) and The Creep Tapes (2024).  “[I was] very skeptical,” Duplass told Variety of joining the Good American Family cast. “Look, there’s a documentary, there’s a movie called Orphan that has similar themes, it’s been in the press. Why do we need another ripped-from-the-headlines story?” In the end, though, Duplass joined the cast and is set to star in all eight episodes of the mini-series.  He has been married to Katie Aselton since 2006, and they have two kids.  Imogen Faith Reid as Natalia Grace Imogen Faith Reid as Natalia GraceDisney/Ser Baffo For Imogen Faith Reid, 27, Good American Family serves as her debut role. Originally from the United Kingdom, the actress has dwarfism like Natalia Grace but says it’s a different type.  “With my dwarfism,  it’s not seen as a disability, but a lot are,” the actress told First for Women. “This show does a really good job of telling you not to judge people by the way they look and the way they sound. As a little person, I go through everyday struggles of reaching things, or I have to get my friends to open my water bottle because I can’t, and so I can relate to what little people go through, which is why I also wanted to play Natalia.” “We all go through things in life and we all have different emotions, and I think it was really important to showcase this show.”  Christina Hendricks as Cynthia Mans Christina HendricksDisney/Frank Micelotta Christina Hendricks, 49, is a six-time Emmy-nominated actress best known for Mad Men (2007 to 2015), Ginger & Rosa (2012), The Neon Demon (2016), Bad Santa 2 (2016) and Good Girls (2018 to 2021). In Good American Family, she plays Cynthia Mans—Natalia’s (Reid) third adoptive mother.  “We’re not necessarily born into the perfect families, and we don’t necessarily have the perfect situation,” Hendricks said to First for Women about what the show means to her. “But I think there’s a lot of love out there. And if you can create your family and find that love, that’s the most important thing.”  Hendricks has been married twice, most recently to George Bianchini.  Dulé Hill as Brandon Drysdale Dulé Hill as Brandon DrysdaleDisney/Ser Baffo Actor Dulé Hill is a versatile actor who has appeared in various movies and TV shows like The West Wing (1999–2006), Holes (2003), Psych (2006–2024), Ballers (2015 to 2017), Suits (2017 to 2019) and The Wonder Years (2021 to 2023). He will play Brandon Drysdale, a detective tasked with investigating the Barnetts in Good American Family.  “I loved playing the character,” Hill said, per TV Insider. “It really was a joy to work with the entire cast, but especially Imogen Faith Reid. She really delivered a phenomenal performance and made doing the scenes so easy.”  Hill has been married twice and has two kids.  Sarayu Blue as Valika Kim ShawDisney/Frank Micelotta Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Sarayu Blue quickly became a household name thanks to projects like I Feel Bad (2018), Blockers (2018), The Unicorn (2019 to 2020) and Inside Out 2 (2024).  Blue’s character Valika in Good American Family serves as a friend of Kristine’s (Pompeo’s) and is set to appear in all eight episodes of the show.  “This entire cast are so kind and truly magnificent,” the actress wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to the incredible creative team, production team and casting for all the heart you put into this show. And @imogenfaith,  you are a brilliant star and the brightest light, and I love you so much.”  Blue has been married to her husband Jonathan for over 10 years and has no children.  Kim Shaw as Jennifer Barnett Sarayu Blue as ValikaDisney/Ser Baffo Kim Shaw is a 40-year-old actress from Ontario, Canada. She is best known for I Just Want My Pants Back (2011 to 2012), Audrey (2012), Saving Hope (2015 to 2017) and You (2021).  Her role in Good American Family will be Michael Barnett’s second wife.  Aias Dalman as Jacob Barnett At just 15 years old, Aias Dalman already has 36 film and TV credits to his name. Most of them are short films, but he played one of the leads in the 2023 Hallmark movie A World Record Christmas.  In Good American Family, he plays Jacob Barnett, one of Kristine) and Michael’s kids, who soon becomes the adopted brother of Natalia Grace. His character has autism and is believed to be the reason Pompeo’s character Kristine felt drawn to adopt a daughter with a disability.  Azriel Dalman as Ethan Barnett Azriel Dalman in 2023Noam Galai/Getty Azriel Dalman is all set to star alongside his real-life brother Aias in Good American Family. He will play Ethan, another Barnett kid. Before this, he was in The Neighbor in the Window (2020), Coyote Creek Christmas (2021), We Need A Little Christmas (2022) and Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023–2024).  He and his brother are both from Vancouver, Canada.  Source link

Favourite Lone Star fandom memories
thanks for tagging me (ages ago) @nisbanisba and @carlos-in-glasses and thanks for starting this @thisbuildinghasfeelings
I've been putting this off because I'm a big fan of ignoring the problem (our show ending) until it goes away (someone at Fox or abc or any other network coming to their senses) - but sadly that hasn't happened... (YET!!!)
So to start with, just a shout out to all the lovely people I've met through this fandom. (I'm not going to tag people because I'll end up forgetting someone - but you know who you are!)
I discovered the show during/ at the end of season 1 when gifs of the first tarlos hook up appeared on my dash, and well... two hot guys slamming each other into walls? Sign me up! But then I saw gifs of Owen with Buttercup and I waited until after the season 1 finale and made people tell me if the dog lived before I started the first ep. Cute guys or not - if the dog dies, I'm out! Thankfully the best boy of the series THRIVED. (Do we think he ended up having puppies with Owen's neighbour's dog? I'm sure Jonah would like a puppy!)
But all in all - we had a good run guys! It's been fun! The (sometimes even more batshit crazy than the show) speculation, examining every little picture and bts content, the fix its, the codas, yelling at Tim Minear & co (which at this point is just a regular part of my day), the fucked up sleep schedule (on my part) and liveblogging the episodes with all of you. Good times!
And no ship wars! (as far as I know anyway) we all mostly let each other just *be*. That's RARE in fandom!
I just love the love in this fandom for the whole cast - even if most of us are tarlos shippers. The support for Ronen when he came out, the HYPE for our three queer leading men at the GLAAD awards (and all of them looking beautiful as ever), and the trans guy marrying the gay biracial couple on American network TV!!
I've loved participating in the secret Santa and secret cupid exchanges, the writing challenges, the season 5 countdown event, I even did a reverse bang (after I said I'd never do anything like that again when I did it for another fandom years ago), and the big epic collab where a bunch of us put Carlos Through It for the lovely Lire.
I love reading the snippets on WIP Wednesday and Seven Sentence Sunday but since I'm the least organised person on the planet, I rarely have something to share these days. (I don't know how you guys do it with the whole planning ahead thing and writing the full thing before posting - couldn't be me)
I just love everyone in this club and once the finale depression wears off, I hope we can keep this lovely little corner of the internet of ours alive and kicking.
We got this guys!

Joseph Gedeon at The Guardian:
Donald Trump visited fire-ravaged Los Angeles on Friday, his second stop on a national disaster recovery tour that began in North Carolina, where the president vowed to “fundamentally reform” or potentially eliminate the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The back-to-back tours on opposite coasts underscored the challenges that the new administration will face as it pledges federal assistance to help communities rebuild from major disasters while proposing dramatic changes to the way the federal government responds to those disasters. “Fema has been a very big disappointment,” the Republican president said in North Carolina, which is still recovering months after Hurricane Helene tore through the state. “It’s very bureaucratic. And it’s very slow.” Arriving in Los Angeles, the president was greeted on the tarmac by the California governor, Gavin Newsom, a longtime political rival. But the men set aside their differences on Friday, promising to work together to help the city rebuild. “We’re going to need your support. We’re going to need your help,” Newsom said, after thanking the president for making the visit. “You were there for us during Covid – I don’t forget that – and I have all the expectations that we’ll be able to work together to get this speedy recovery.” “We want to get it fixed. We want to get the problem fixed,” Trump told reporters after exiting Air Force One. “And there will be some ways. It’s like you got hit by a bomb.” [...] During a press briefing aboard Air Force One, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the president planned to sign an executive order that would establish “a council of FEMA advisers to look at the agency and root out the corruption, the incompetence and the bureaucracy”. Should the order come to be, the new task force reportedly would formalize Trump’s desire to redirect more disaster-management responsibilities and federal funding to state governments – signalling serious intent to potentially reshape the agency’s role in national disaster response.
Echoing Project 2025’s policy goals, Felon 47 threatened to sign an executive order that would significantly overhaul or even scrap FEMA altogether.
For Trump to abolish FEMA, such an action would need Congressional approval, since it is within DHS.
