On one hand, I overall enjoyed the new episode of the reboot. On the other hand, to be teased so many times about Koushiro’s darkness and past for it to mean simply that Nanomon was hiding in Whamon was kind of a letdown. I really believed it was finally backstory time!

For a while I've been thinking of putting words why Digimon Adventure 2020 doesn't make me want to be super invested into it (but still entertained) and it all boils down to: it doesn't make me cry lmao.
I love that, I love being invested in that and characters having emotional rollercoaster everywhere and traumatic backstories or memories and then I am crying along Taichi feeling a deep rooted guilt because how almost killed his own sister, or how they see Digimon get brutally killed and instead of being scarred for life they are like "oh no...anyway off to victory!"
But I have to admit it's nonsensical fun and just a good time at points, which is what I want for every time the destined children are together (which is another issue, when they join they split, when they reunite they are drifted away, when they make it back they are drifted away again). But when it happens, there are fun moments just like every Mimi and Joe episode 🤣 (is the potatomon a reference to Joe singing "Kaze no fraido potato"? Because that's make it a 10/10)
It's frustrating maybe if the OTT plot in the real world appears and gets solved in between the main journey, are we fighting Devimon or are we helping the NASA, or both? Why is Omegamon appearing so much? When did their Crest meaning have to do with something? + the timing or moments or reason behind every new evolution may give that "eh that wasn't as satisfying". But if I look it just as the silly fun and COOL AS FUCK animations and moves, then I have fun myself! Accepting that I won't be crying just of imagining what a character may feel, and see them do stuff made it to me to enjoy it more, I like the wild digimon leveling up because survivor of the fittest type of thing, and they do show nice relationship between each other (in fact, one of the best moments are when there is no ISS crisis AND they are still together as group):
Taichi being a source of support and encouragement to Koushiro, the siblings relationship, Taichi and Sora being that 1-2 leading combo and being the reliable parents. Yamato being that cool tsun tsun but not annoying dude. Mimi is always queen in every universe. Joe using Zudomon hammer what the fuck go off king. Cute things to catch up from that.
And also, the fact that I don't have to watch the same attacking animation 17890 times through the show is so important. Imagine Digimon Adventure or Tamers with these animations, is insane. I thought the warpevolution was already cool, seeing Wargreymon appearance not the first, but the second time show an animation that was the coolest evolution animation ever in that technical stuff.
In summary, a lot of things to not care about the whole of it (so far, chapter 40 already), but taking bits individually (that you may completely forget because it's irrelevant to the big scene) is actually cool! Some I can remember off the top of my head are
Mimi chan kingdom; Joe and Gomamon speaking before Ikkakumon evolution; Yamato having a small "wow these bozos are caring about me and supporting me? Is this...FRIENDSHIP?" bc you know, his crest and all; the way MetalGreymon evolved, like, is not better than the OG of course, but I mean how he was fighting a bigger dude and for MANY times they were trying but not giving up, as in, showing their courage, made sense; Lillymon and the whole nature defeating the machinery of Andromon; Holy Digimon being special and focusing on that; Tailmon fears and struggles up to its Angewomon evolution (MarineDevimon was a good idea to put there); the one solving the ISS crisis being Koshiro not just in knowledge but in action trusted by his friends and leader Taichi; Taichi and Sora playing football together heck yeah cuties show how well you both combine for everything and be cute in front of my salad (they are making it on purpose, Taichi gets trapped and immediately the Love emblem shines to evolve to Garudamon).
Is there a Team Light and Team Hope coming apparently? That's cute. Looking forward to it.
Anyway, just wanted to write about it for so long since I have that "ok I get where this is heading and it's to not make me cry" feeling but I have different thoughts, not mostly bad or anything.
Should start making Gifs of these moments I loved.

Digiweek Day 7 - Free day | TAIORA DISCORD ANNOUNCEMENT!
It's the 1st of August, Odaiba Memorial Day and @digiweek is coming to an end. So this day I would like to end Digiweek and celebrate the 1st of August with a little bang...
Tumblr media
As some of you might know we are currently building a Taiora Discord server. It's not open yet, we want to be prepared in the best way possible and I can tell you: we're on our way! And it's gonna be awesome! :D
This way we would like to announce we have our minds set on opening up the server in 5 weeks from now! Mark it down in every calendar you own: SUNDAY 5TH OF SEPTEMBER 12AM (GMT+1)!
Yes, the server will be mainly Taiora focused, but you don't have to be a ride or die Taiora-shipper or whatsoever to join. Every multi-shipper (yes for taishiro, sorato, michi, sokari, taikeru, jyoura, taisuke, sorako but also takari, mimato, jyoumi, koukari, koumi, daikeru, kenyako and so onnn), every poly-shipper (taiorato, taikoura, taiorami :D), every 30+ years old-shipper, hell, even every non-shipper (who does appreciate the Taiora ship or either Taichi or Sora or is still figuring out the wonderful world of digi-shipping) is welcome. It's important to us we can 1) build an open and safe community for Digimon-lovers and 2) connect all the Taiora appreciators from all over the world. Spread the love and courage!
The banner/header at the top of this announcement post is made by the amazing and talented @earlgreymon, who also happened to be one of the mods of this crazy Digiweek event. So please PLEASE give her a big round of applause! And don't forget to applaud @tangledupblue as well ^^
Interested in joining the server eventually? Leave a message, a like, a reblog. (Don't forget to signal boost by reblogging! It's appreciated <3)
Questions? Send me an ask! Or one of the other builders, whom I will now proudly present:
@noctisfishing @doingfondue @snarkyredvelvetlover @stoppingtosmelltheflowers @seventeenlovesthree (and myself @dutchforstrangers)
For now! Follow the #TaioraDiscordServer -tag for updates. Countdown to September 5th starts NOW :D

How, in Kizuna, both Yamato and Taichi know what Sora is up to and even though Taichi and Sora grew apart, they still have a special connection that's here to stay forever and shouldn't be left unsaid
Before you read on, two warnings:
Kizuna spoilers!
LONG POST!
Also, a little note and disclaimer: I can see people percepting this post as a Taiora-shipper heavily vouching for romantic!Taiora and bashing Sorato. Interpret it however you like, but just know that's not how I approached this meta. It's Sorato-friendly and Sorato-appreciative. Sure, it gives reasons for romantic!Taiora to have potential in canon, but it's mostly directed on how I see the -platonic- connection between Taichi and Sora and how it's portrayed in the Kizuna movie.
That being said, I do not own Digimon and therefore this is my view on it. I also didn't read the Kizuna novel, so everything not compliant with the novel is due to that. Anyway, happy readings!
Who remembers the Digimon movie Diaboromon strikes back probably knows how Sora is not present during the fight because she's on the tennis club trip. Or actually on her way back. We learn about this, because Koushiro asks where Sora is and Yamato -being her boyfriend obviously- is the only one who knows the answer. Cute boyfriend, truly!
Tumblr media
In the Kizuna movie we see a little call back to this particular scene when Yamato and Taichi are eating together and talk about what all the others are up to (and how they seem to be the only ones who have no clue about their future yet. I feel that, unlike Koushiro I didn't run a freaking tech company at 21??!!! Seriously, who does that?!). Taichi sums up all the 01 Chosen Children + Daisuke, except for two: Takeru and Sora. Of course Yamato knows what Takeru is up to, so Taichi leaves that for Yamato to tell.
As for Sora... I think that's a bit harder and I've been thinking about this since the first time I saw it. Especially after I saw this post floating around on my dash every once in a while (and yes the Taiora-shipper in me wants my Taiora-heart to be soothed BUT this is not the main reason, believe me) and I just think Yamato isn't the only one who knows. Now let me try to explain myself.

TAIORA SHIPPERS UNITE
Tumblr media
Source [x]. Thanks to @earlgreymon for pointing me in the direction of this pic.
Last week this very sweet Anon found my Tumblr filled with my never ending courageous love for Taichi and Sora, a.k.a. Taiora <3
Anon asked me about a possible Taiora Discord server. It got me thinking and I’m ready to do an experiment! Because Taiora deserves all the love it can get.
Here’s the deal:
I’m a team player, a brainstormer and dislike working solo. Besides, I’m an ‘on-the-go learner’. So I’m looking for a maximum of 10 Taiora shippers/lovers/likers who want to figure out the wonderful world of Discord with me and build a Taiora server together. This will be for a maximum of 2 months.
Together we can make up the terms/rules/guidelines, channels, roles, et cetera. To me it’s important to create an open and safe space!
We can try some of the features, maybe divide roles (because I don’t feel like moderating this thing all by myself...) and so on. This way I/we can prepare ourselves properly before we open it up to a wider audience!
If you’re interested in taking part in the experiment group/builders group you can send me a message here! I haven’t figured out how to send invitations or how to add new members to a server in Discord yet, so if you do know how to please let me know haha!
If you’re interested in becoming a member of the Discord eventually without being part of the experiment group, you can send me a message as well ;)
For now! Don’t forget to spread the word by liking and/or reblogging this post!
Let's fly high on this Taiora bird, together! <3

All the Taiora Discord Server - we are OPEN!!!
Taichi: Sora...? What's a 'Taiora'?
Sora: Seriously? Baka...
Taichi: What??! Why you're calling me an idiot, again...?!
Sora: Because you are one. Anyway, Taiora is our names combined, you see 'Tai' is for Taichi and 'ora' is for Sora. People use it to show others they ship us platonically and/or romantically.
Taichi: Ahaaaa... I like it. I ship it.
Sora: Ba-
Taichi: And don't you dare to call me an idiot again! You're shipping 'Taiora' just as hard as others do. Admit it hehe...
Sora: Fine. Yes, I ship us too.
Taichi: Good. Now continue your make out session with the idiot you ship yourself with...
Sora: Oi! Taichi~

Yay for writing :D I'm in serious need of Koushiro content: 5+3 (Taishiro+Rocking a baby) & 7+21 (Koura+Infectious laughter). All the prompts and pairs seem so much fun, so tell you what: you pick either 5+3 or 7+21 and I'll write the other one myself! How about that? Or make it an OT3 Taishirora/Kourachi <3 Have fun! xx
🍡 taichi + koushiro // [3] rocking a baby + [14] tantrum/rant prompt no 14 was given by @sunnquy-lavendrr who requested taishiro too, so i thought why not merging as one. although i don't think i deliver this well enough. i have struggles writing rants (or dialogue in general orz). think of this fic as something that happens after kizuna, with a crisis similar to the first episode of da:2020, but with koushiro's office in tri as the setting. also, a mention of taiora and my headcanon of their kids, which i wrote here. inspired by this video which somehow showed up on my youtube again. not that i am complaining.
___
“No, you don’t understand—”
“No, you don’t understand!”
“Koushiro, Koushiro. Listen,” Taichi tried to calm his friend down while his younger son was still crying in his embrace. “I’m going to have an important interview with CNBC in less than thirty minutes, so I don’t have a time for a debate. I really need your help to look out for Tsuyoshi and Tsubasa just for fifteen minutes, okay? Fifteen minutes. That’s all I ask.”
“Taichi-san. I believe you don’t understand how critical the situation we are all in now.”
“I do! That’s why I’m going to explain to the TV about the whole blackout, so they’ll understand!”
“But I can’t divide my concentration just like that! The numbers of Argomon keep multiplying, and if I don’t keep both of my eyes on the system, not only you have to explain to the viewers virtually, but you also have to go to Shinjuku and explain everything face-to-face in front of the Defence Minister!”
“Okay, then! Bring Agumon and Tentomon here and tell ‘em to take care of the kids.”
Koushiro’s tone raised in annoyance. “What do you mean with ‘bring Agumon and Tentomon’?! They’re battling Argomon with others, for God’s sake, not some babysitter—”
“And that’s exactly my point! I know we have duties for the Digital World, but remember that we’re also an adult with a life and our own responsibilities in this world! I don’t want my sons to be tripped over and get hurt, just like I don’t want Agumon to get killed—”
“KILL, DADDY! KILL!” Tsuyoshi mimicked as he stopped running around Koushiro’s office while dribbling his ball; his excitement grew after hearing a brutal word that somehow sounded cool for a three-year-old.
“Sh—ugar honey ice tea, I shouldn’t say that,” Taichi uttered frustratingly. Koushiro frowned at his friend’s desperate attempt to avoid cursing in front of the kids. Did Taichi just make up an acronym of ‘shit’? “Right, we should stop fighting. Hold Tsubasa for me; I’m going to grab his walker and my tux on the car.”
“Wait, Taichi-san—!”
There was no way he could reject when Taichi handed Tsubasa to him unless they wanted Tsubasa to fall. Taichi successfully dashed out of Koushiro’s office to the elevator, leaving Koushiro dumbfounded with Tsubasa now crying loud and louder after realising that he was in the arm of a man who was not his father and a red hair who was not his mother too.
“Shh, shh. Your daddy is going to return soon, Tsubasa-kun,” he gently rocked the baby while trying to watch Tsuyoshi from his peripherals. Koushiro was not religious, but he prayed so hard right now for the safety of his workstation since Taichi Jr kept dribbling his ball around the room.
If only he read the messages from Taichi earlier, Koushiro definitely wouldn’t step out of his chair. This morning, Tokyo began to experience blackout ward by ward. Koushiro then found out a large group of Argomon was attacking the network, so he immediately sent Tentomon and others while he tried to fix the system somehow. On the other hand, Taichi—who now worked as a staff for the United Nation’s sub organisation for Digital World affairs—was asked by several media to provide a statement regarding the Tokyo Digital Crisis. Unfortunately, the blackout had affected his apartment complex, so he reached out to Koushiro, whom his office-slash-house was always guaranteed with electricity and internet, even in the middle of suspension.
However, to make matters a little more complicated, Sora was in Kyoto because she had to take care of her sick parents. In other words, Taichi had to look after his two sons this weekend by himself, and a call for work was the last thing he wished for.
Taichi returned a while later, immediately placing Tsubasa on a baby walker. Tsubasa seemed to calm down when he found a bunch of toys attached to the front side. “Tsuyoshi, don’t play football inside! You’ll crash Uncle Kou’s computers!” he yelled, and Tsuyoshi stopped at instance, although he gave his father a pout. Taichi mouthed back at Koushiro, saying that he needed to borrow the bathroom before he dashed off again with his changes of clothes.
It was tempting to go back to his workstation, but Koushiro realised it would be impolite not to serve anything to his guests. If only Tentomon was really here. He opened the refrigerator, sighing in relief when he found some ramune bottles inside. The kids should love them, even though maybe Tsubasa was too young for that. He still pulled two bottles, though, with one canned coffee for Taichi and a big bottle of oolong tea for himself. As he closed the door, Taichi too emerged from the ensuite. That was rather quick, and Koushiro found out the reason after.
“I forgot my pants!” Taichi hollered, and while he didn’t exactly come out bare-bottomed, he still used the same shorts he wore earlier with a suit and tie for his upper part. And he was the spouse of a fashion designer. “Must be slipped on my wardrobe! They won’t notice as long as I sit down, right?!”
Koushiro no longer had the energy to snicker at his dumb friend.
“No.”
“Okay, great. I’m going to use the spare room. Do not enter until two pm-ish.”
Taichi went on, fixing his tie hastily. He ordered Tsuyoshi to sit down on the couch and lectured him about not playing football, keeping an eye on Tsubasa, not playing football again, and not disturbing both him and Koushiro while they were working respectively. Taichi then grabbed the coffee with a quick thanks before entering the spare room attached to Koushiro’s office with his laptop, making sure the door was closed.
Koushiro looked at Tsuyoshi and Tsubasa once again. Another long sigh, and then he put down the bottles of ramune that he had helped opened for them. “Stay here, okay?” he pleaded as calm as he could.
Tsuyoshi just blinked. Koushiro took it as a nod in agreement.
Back to his workstation with his dose of favourite caffeine, Koushiro quickly called Tentomon to check on the condition. The bug had evolved to Kabuterimon, so did the others to their adult form, and it seemed that they managed to eliminate more Argomons. This gave Koushiro a sense of relief, so it was easier for him to do his other ‘duty’ of watching Tsuyoshi and Tsubasa every one or two minutes through the gap of his screens.
The easiness didn’t last long, however. The Argomons somehow turned into their adult form too, so Kabuterimon had to work harder to beat them. At some point, Koushiro even found a surge of activity around the centre of the system, where some adult Argomons had evolved further. Kabuterimon and others had to match themselves by evolving once again, and Koushiro was forced to pay more attention because a little damage might have a significant impact considering they were already near the system’s core.
The last ten minutes felt like an hour as the battle was getting more and more intense. Koushiro couldn’t even stop his feet from tapping the floor quite hard—some habit he had every time he was feeling nervous. Luckily, he finally discovered Argomon’s weak point and came up with a plan, which he relayed quickly to AtlurKabuterimon. Per Koushiro’s plan, AtlurKabuterimon led his friends to execute the plan, and with a combination of their ultimate attacks, they finally managed to beat what was thought to be the boss.
“Yossha!” AtlurKabuterimon raised one hand in victory—his fingers even morphed into the shape of V—while Koushiro slumped himself tiredly. “I know you’re the best, Koushiro-han! Take a drink first; I’m going to see if there’s another boss still wandering around. I think we just need to clean these small larvae, and we’re done.”
“Thank you so much, AtlurKabuterimon. I’m counting on you.”
He saw AtlurKabuterimon flee from his screen to another direction, which gave him the opportunity to drink just like his partner’s advice. He took the bottle of oolong tea he grabbed earlier, but when he tried to crack the bottle open, the corner of his eyes caught something that he had forgotten for a short while.
Tsuyoshi was no longer on the couch. The baby walker was just disappearing behind the door of the spare room, which was now widely opened.
“SH—NOOKERDOOKIES!”
It was Koushiro’s turn to fly as fast as possible. He rushed inside the spare room, half-sliding half-jumping as he found Taichi was trying his best to shoo away Tsuyoshi—who was standing beside him—without switching his gaze from his laptops or pausing his rants. However, it was apparent that Taichi’s voice was slightly trembling to hold back the emotion and the embarrassment. Koushiro immediately leaned in and ducked forward, pulling Tsuyoshi out of the room along with Tsubasa who was still in his baby walker. Tsuyoshi started to bickered in protest (“I WANT TO PLAY WITH DADDY! LET’S PLAY FOOTBALL, DADDY!”). At the same time, Tsubasa was not happy when he felt something was forcefully pulling him in the opposite direction of where he wanted to go.
Koushiro could hear Taichi finally stopped to apologise repeatedly, but that was when he knew that Taichi was so disturbed. Therefore, he dragged the kids a little bit faster, only resulting in Tsubasa’s baby walker getting stuck on the edge of the door. Koushiro tried to detach the walker in panic; come on, get out, get out… AHA!
He finally shut the door quite loudly.
Tsubasa was stunned. His loud whimper filled the room once again.
Koushiro felt like lying on the floor. Today was exhausting.

Fuck it, Digimon Playlist Part 2
I made a post last year given each Digidestined a song from my Top 100 of 2020 playlist. I decided to update that playlist with my Top 2021 playlist.
*The only rule I had is that even if a song from the 2020 playlist is on my 2021 playlist, if I used it in the first post, I could not use it for this one.

Let me see my halo, even though it's painful I'm prepared to lose You know that I'd die for, I'd cry for You know that I'd die for you

Digimon Adventure 2020 Ep 11 Reaction
In which the kids have their own ideas about how to proceed, and it’s beautiful.
(Warning: I got excited and started cussing a lot.  Also, this ep is really good, and I’m really proud of this reaction, you should read it!).
I love it when the Chosen argue.
The kids arguing means that they have different ideas, different priorities.  The kids making a stand- Yamato prioritizing the mission, Sora and Jyou prioritizing the digimon who will die without help- means that they are exerting agency over the situation.  This is so refreshing after all of those “blindly follow the prophecy, without even having an actual, living being to explain things and provide prospective” episodes.  I mean, seriously, I was a second away from “Would you kindly” jokes.  (If you’ve never played the original Bioshock...  DO IT, OMG).
AND SORA!  FINALLY, SOME GOSH DANGED CHARACTERIZATION FOR SORA!  I am so happy for her!  Now, this is going to get highly subjective, but...  I detest “competency” as the main character trait for female characters.  And so far, what we know of Sora is that she’s: competent, active, brave, warm (so we’re told- we’re mostly left to infer this from her beautiful facial expressions, which I guess is fine, but I’d love to see it guiding her actions more, which we’re finally getting!), and supposedly well-liked at school (no proof of this, just Koushiro’s word).  Er- also, knives.  For some folks, this seems to be enough to celebrate, but it just...  Falls so flat for me.
The idea of a “competent, active girl” suggests that most female characters aren’t competent and/or active, or that competency/being active are male traits (hence, Sora having these traits somehow makes her “tomboyish”).  In Adventure, Sora was always competent, active, and playing a guiding/decision-making role with Taichi and Yamato, while Koushiro provided intel for them.  I remember and liked that about her, but I love Adventure Sora for simultaneously accepting, struggling with, and resenting her caring, sisterly role for everyone.  The caretaker love and resentment cycle was so fucking real, dude.  Sora’s...  I’m gonna say it, she’s probably the most complex Adventure character, and when people reduce her to AcTiOn ToMbOy, I vomit in my mouth (even though she absolutely is competent and active!  It’s just that competency does not a personality make, and she had SO MUCH relatable, compelling stuff going on!!!!!  And also, “tomboy” in general implies that certain character traits are masculine, which is damaging for everyone, frankly).
Anyway, here we see Sora standing up for her principles, which means saving these digimon who will die if left where they are.  There is no fighting, no name-calling, no posturing...  Just Sora saying: I care about these digimon, this is the right thing to, and therefore, I will do it.
ALSO I AM PROUD OF JYOU FOR BACKING SORA, and also showing his Adventure roots with an attempt at peace-keeping so ineffective that it was annoying, lol!  First, he is sad that Sora asked Yamato’s opinion, not his...  But when actually asked for his, he says “Er- I guess everyone has good points?” *sweat sweat*  THIS IS SO CLASSIC JYOU, I AM CRYING.  And then Gomamon is like, “What do you want?”  Ie, I don’t want a statement of validity for everyone else’s thoughts, I want your thoughts.  Gomamon is the best!
Then we jump to Gabumon and Yamato, walking off all lonesome-like.  Gabumon says, “Yamato, they can’t know what you’re thinking if you don’t tell them,” and honestly?  THAT’S A HELL OF A LINE FOR A KID SHOW.  Damn, Gabumon is great?  In the fortress siege ep, I thought that Gabumon explaining that Yamato is excluding the others to protect them was a little...  Too much.  Kids shows especially tend to error on the side of being too explainy, though, for the sake of their young audience (I laughed my ass off in Frozen when Olaf goes, “TrUe LoVe SaVeD hEr,” or something similar, because yes Olaf, we fucking got that, thanks, lol!).  This line was similar in intent (helping the audience understand an aloof character who is potentially unlikable on the surface), but damned if that ain’t some tea for real life.
AND JFC, WAS WEREGARURUMON ALWAYS SO FUCKING EXTRA?!  Wait, what am I saying, of course he was!  Hahaha!  I gotta say that these reboot perfect level evolutions aren’t feeling earned or impactful, just a kind of fun, “Oh hey, there you are” (and in this case, “Who does your nails, btw?”).  I’m hoping that we’ll see other content to make up for this, but so far, I’ve given up on the thought of being touched/impressed by evolutions in Digimon Adventure:.
AH SHIT! BUT AT THE END!  Sora says, “Thanks for coming back!”  And Yams replies, “Eh, you were bait.”  And SORA!  SHE SEES THROUGH THIS BS!  SHE’S ALREADY REACHED GABUMON LEVEL OF SEEING  THROUGH THIS IMPOSSIBLE BOY’S GRUMPY FACADE!  “Well, we’ll leave it at that,” she says, with an understanding smile.  GOD!  THIS IS SO GOOD, I FINALLY SEE SORA IN FRONT OF ME, I’M CRYING, THIS IS 1,000% MORE SORA THAN HER OWN INTRO EP!!!!!!
AND I AM DYING!  Yams says, “I have a brother, so I...  AM SO... DETERMINED TO END THIS AND PROTECT HIM.”  You butt face, EVERY KID HERE HAS A FAMILY, OMG, WHAT A FUCKING DORK!  I am absolutely dying!  Here Yamato is, tryin’a explain his tunnel vision and his DEEP DARK EMBARRASSING SECRET...  HE, A HUMAN, HAS A HUMAN FAMILY THAT HE LOVES.  It tells us a lot about Yamato, alright, but not what Yamato was actually trying to say (ie, I hate to admit it, but I am a huge softie for my brother)!  Instead, what we’re finding out is...  Yamato is forgetting everyone here has a beloved family that they also want to help, because HE LOVES HIS BROTHER SO MUCH!
GOD, SUCH YAMATO.  SUCH PURE, UNDILUTED, 1,000% CONCENTRATED YAMA JAMMAS.  I FUCKING LOVE HIM.  WHAT A GOOMBA!
THIS EPISODE WAS SO DAMNED GOOD, my second fave so far after Mimi’s intro, and it had 0% to do with the action/plot/evolutions and 1,000% to do with these dumb kids being good, dumb kids, god I love them.
ALSO!  HERE WE ARE AT RUINS AGAIN WITH KOUSHIRO AND MIMI?!?!?!?!  AM I HAVING A STROKE?!?!?!?!?!  BUT THIS TIME IT’S EVEN WORSE BECAUSE TAICHI IS HERE!?!?!?!?!?!?  GOD, I AM SO FUCKING HAPPY.  WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE THIS BOUNTY?!?!?!?!?!?!
God, thank you, reboot.  Bless.
ETA:  I’m also hoping we swing back around to Leomon’s Resistance.  I mean, I assume we will...  And I also assume Leomon ain’t gonna fare so well, lol!  But seriously, I wonder what kind of intel Leomon can provide?  I’m loving that the Digital World has so much going on, its own groups and such.

it's 2020.
☆Mimi has an Instagram account even tho she's 10 (her parents WOULD) that constantly gets deactivated because she posts pics of random people calling them ugly.
☆Jyou has Climate Change Anxiety.
☆Koushiro is the most overpowered character now with all the technology he might as well rule the digital world and get Tentomon to evolution forms never seen before, Taichi and Yamato who?
☆Takeru is a Minecraft player but Yamato tries to make him stop because every time a creeper blows him up he goes into a hysterical crying fit (also thess kids swear a lot Yamato doesn't want them near his brother) Alternatively, he plays Fortnite.
☆Taichi's idol is Neymar. Sora is pissed at him because Marta is much better.
☆They can have a group chat now. Yamayo only answers Takeru's texts and straight up ignores everyone else. They kick Taichi and Mimi out at some point because they spam it with tik tok videos and j-pop fancams, respectively
☆The Yagamis got an actual cat for the family after Hikari got addicted to playing Neko Atsume.
☆"The day we went to summer camp! August the first, twenty twenty!" *IF there's a summer camp this time.
Please add your own.
My own post fills me up with unspeakable horror because I actually have no idea what kids or tweens are into these days (in Japan much less!) I haven't spoken to one since I myself was 12 and I have no intention of changing this.

This fic takes place in the universe of Digimon Adventure Psi (or Digimon Adventure 2020) and shows how Koushiro met Tentomon. I'm using my hc that Koushiro was a bit old when his biological parents died.
Alone in the world
Koushiro recognized that landscape immediately. He had seen those colorful forms and sparks when he first had contact with the network space, back when Taichi had gone there for the first time. However, the older boy was nowhere nearby. Koushiro found himself alone in that world.
“Taichi-san!” Koushiro called, wandering through that strange place. A cold wind sent chills down his neck. “Taichi-san, where are you?” he insisted, getting increasingly desperate. “Please, answer me! Taichi-san!”
Was he really alone there?
A sensation he had tried to bury for years was reemerging. Once again he could hear, in the back of his mind, the whispers from those people, who were too sure a grieving child couldn't listen to them during his parents' ceremony.
“That poor helpless kid!”
“It's so sad!”
“He has no family anymore.”
“He's all alone now.”
“Alone in the world.”
Koushiro was surprised when he saw the teardrops falling on his tablet. He was clutching the object against his chest, as if afraid of losing it. The boy knew he had done that many times before. Maybe that was a silly fear, but it was still overwhelming. It probably lingered from that great loss he once suffered.
He wiped his tears with the back of a hand and faced forward. Koushiro wasn't a helpless child. Taichi had told him that he had been helpful, that he had been useful. He had to believe in his friend's words. Koushiro just needed to keep his calm and think. There had to be something he could do.
“It's going to be alright,” the boy told himself.
“Of course it is! Don't worry!” a voice suddenly said behind him, startling the child.
Koushiro turned around quickly and saw a huge ladybug hovering a couple of meters away from him. The insect was staring at the child.
“Hi, there! I'm Tentomon!” the monster greeted. “I saw you and thought you were lost. So, I'm here to help!”
“Tentomon...?” Koushiro repeated that name in low voice, studying the other. “Are you a digimon...?”
“Yes, of course I am!” Tentomon confirmed. “What are you? You don't look like a digimon.”
“I'm a human being, I came from a different world. My name is Izumi Koushiro, nice to meet you!” Koushiro introduced himself, bowing slightly.
“Izumi Koushiro-han...” Tentomon said, “Izumi-han... Koushiro-han! That's it! Koushiro-han sounds better! I'm going to call you that!”
The boy was about to say that the digimon didn't need to address him with a honorific, but a question made its way to his lips before he could think it through:
“Is that Kansai dialect?”
“What is Kansai, Koushiro-han?”
“Ehr... never mind that...” the boy muttered, trying to come up with a theory for the monster to talk like that without ever being in Japan. Then, another concern rose in his mind, which led him to begin to ask:
“Excuse me, uhm... Tentomon-san...? Have you seen-”
“I don't like the sound of that at all!” Tentomon interrupted. “Don't call me with 'san,' please!”
“S-Sorry!” Koushiro hurried to say. “If you don't like 'san'... should I call you 'Tentomon-kun,' then?”
“That sounds even worse!” Tentomon complained. “Just call me by my name alone.”
Koushiro felt blood rushing to his face. When talking to someone, he always used a honorific. To drop it, especially with someone he had just met, felt too audacious for him. However, he couldn't insist on using honorifics if doing that upset the other.
“If that's what you want, then I'll respect your wishes, Tentomon,” Koushiro said in low voice. Hopefully, he would soon get used to calling him that and stop feeling awkward about the lack of honorific.
“Thank you, Koushiro-han!” Tentomon exclaimed.
“You don't have to use honorifics with me,” Koushiro told him.
“But I really want to call you 'Koushiro-han,' and you said you would respect my wishes!” Tentomon contested.
Koushiro thought that he couldn't argue with that kind of logic. The boy felt it was unfair that he had to drop honorifics while Tentomon wasn't willing to do it, but decided that it was best to let that slide.
“So, Koushiro-han, you were looking for someone, right?” Tentomon asked.
“Yes! I'm looking for another human being!” Koushiro confirmed. “His name is Yagami Taichi-san. He's taller than me and has big brown hair. Have you seen him?”
“I haven't seen anyone around, besides you,” Tentomon told him. “I could help you to look for him. This Taichi-han is older than you, right?”
“Yes, how did you know?” the boy asked.
“It was just wishful thinking, actually,” Tentomon said. “I was worried when I saw a little kid like you all alone, so I hoped that there was someone out there to take care of you.”
“T-That's not...” Koushiro mumbled, shaking with embarrassment. “Taichi-san doesn't take care of me!”
“Does he treat you badly?” Tentomon had a worried voice.
“No, of course not!” Koushiro denied. “He's a wonderful person! Taichi-san is kind and encouraging! The way he smiles at you... and his way of talking that makes you feel...”
the boy lost himself in his memories of his friend and had to be taken back to reality by Tentomon.
“He sounds like a good friend who takes care of you!” the digimon exclaimed.
“I-It's not like that! I mean, Taichi-san has done a lot for me and many other people... he does amazing things... but I helped him too, he told me that I helped him! I got to be useful... I wasn't just...”
Fragments from his past echoed in his mind. He remembered the day he had met Mr. And Mrs. Izumi. Back then, how fiercely was he clutching that tablet against his chest?
“You don't have to be scared, Koushiro. You don't need to worry about anything.”
“We will take care of you now.”
Koushiro felt his eyes getting warm as those memories returned, but refused to cry. Crying had never helped him, it had never returned anything he had lost. It would be just bothersome for other people if he were to cry in front of them.
“Then, you take care of each other! That's how friends should be!” Tentomon said, excitedly.
Koushiro was taken aback by that statement, but wasn't bothered by it. The idea that he was capable of doing something for the sake of others filled his heart with joy.
“Say, Koushiro-han, what's that thing that you're holding?” Tentomon asked, pointing to the tablet that Koushiro had in his arms.
“It's a tablet that I can also use as a computer,” Koushiro explained. “I use it to analyze data and it helps me to communicate...”
Only then the boy realized that he could've contacted Taichi a long time ago and felt like the dumbest person alive.
“I... I can actually talk to Taichi-san and ask where he is...” Koushiro muttered, embarrassed, “I had forgotten about it...”
“You can talk to him? That's great!” Tentomon sounded excited. “After you talk to him, I can take you to where your friend is.”
“You don't have to go through that much trouble because of me,” Koushiro tried to dissuade the digimon. He didn't know how far away Taichi was or how long it would take to find him. It wasn't fair to inconvenience Tentomon that way.
“Don't worry, it's not like I have anything better to do, anyway!” Tentomon assured him. “Besides, I like talking to you. It's going to be a fun trip because I enjoy your company!”
“You... enjoy my company...?” Koushiro asked, in disbelief. The boy tried to remember if anyone had ever said such a thing to him before.
“You sound like a very intelligent person and you're also very polite. You seem to care very much for other people, which I find admirable,” Tentomon told him. “I like you a lot already, Koushiro-han!”
The sensation born from that statement was warmer than what he felt when he was able to be useful to someone. I'm not a bother... I'm not bothering him... Koushiro thought. He couldn't begin to describe the deep happiness that was engulfing him.
Koushiro found a spot to sit and then contacted Taichi. He was surprised to see that Sora from the summer camp was with the other boy, but was glad that his friend wasn't alone.
Then, Koushiro realized that the other kids couldn't be alone because they had digimon with them. He wondered if Tentomon could be to him what Agumon was to Taichi. Koushiro felt that was an audacious thought. Tentomon was probably just a nice digimon willing to help him out of kindness. It wouldn't be the first time he found people like that. However, Koushiro wished that wasn't the case.
Like he had done when he lost his parents, Koushiro wished he didn't have to be alone in that big and strange world.

A Certain Glow
Day 4 - Emblem
#noct writes taiora week 2020 [ 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 ]
@taioraweek for more Taiora love! @noctisfishing for Taiora/Digimon writings and more. :)
Setting: Digimon Adventure tri.: Future / Canon Divergence
Tags: Angst, Fluff, Romance Hints
Other Characters: Koromon & Pyocomon; Chosen Children cameos
Notes: I’m clinging onto my idea of a tri. rewrite that sprung into life during Takari Week (here’s the fic that started it).
I also wrote this for catharsis from watching Last Evolution Kizuna, so this one’s going to be emotional.
I hope you recognize where this scene starts - near the end of Future.
~*~*~*~*~*~
It felt like a lifetime since Taichi saw the sun rise in the sky. The water on the beach before him and the other Chosen Children began to glisten from the sunlight. No longer was the sky shrouded in darkness; the clouds were on their way to disappearing into the brightening blue as a rainbow began to form.
Everyone was exhausted. Buildings were destroyed. Not everyone came out alive.
But the battle was over. Daisuke and the others had been found and returned to the Real World, and Taichi and his team had saved their homeland once again.
The deep silence within the group was broken by the squeaks of everyone’s Digimon partners bouncing toward them. One by one, each Digimon flew into their own human’s arms to be cuddled, the peaceful comfort found between human and Digimon partners the longer they were together.
Koromon had stopped in front of Taichi, looking up at him with a worn expression.
“I’m hungry,” Koromon said weakly.
Taichi cracked a small smile as he looked down toward his partner. After everything that had happened - the Digimon losing their memories; Taichi nearly losing his life, but ending up finding the missing Chosen Children, only to be forced to say goodbye to Nishijima-sensei…
...and even after he DNA digivolved to Omegamon, all Koromon wanted was a bite to eat.
Taichi picked up his partner and held him tightly, wishing that he could think as simply as Koromon and not have the weight of emotions that he still needed to process.
As the sun rose higher into the sky, everyone decided it was time to part ways. It was cathartic to be with eight of his friends - the only eight he knew would understand what they went through - but Taichi recognized that everyone wanted time alone with their partners.
Yamato and Tsunomon were the first to leave. Hikari had convinced Meiko to join her, Tailmon, Takeru, and Tokomon on their walk home. Jou with Bukamon and Koushiro with Mochimon went their own separate ways.
Sora stood a few feet away from Taichi, looking across the shoreline with Pyocomon resting soundly in her arms.
“I’ll call you,” Sora said quietly as she smiled at Mimi, who gave her a hug before running to Taichi and hugged him too.
With Mimi and Tanemon gone, Taichi and Sora were the only two left.
Taichi recognized the sullen expression on Sora's face. Even behind that smile she gave Mimi, he knew there was something that was troubling her. But he wasn’t sure if she was going to tell him what it was.
“Hey, Sora…” he started, causing her to turn her head, but Koromon’s loud yawn interrupted what he wanted to say next.
“Let’s find a comfortable spot for them to rest,” Sora decided, with Pyocomon slowly fidgeting with her eyes closed.
Taichi and Sora walked to the nearby park where they found a grassy lawn near a shaded tree for their Digimon to sleep. As Taichi brushed his palm against Koromon’s relaxed face, he smiled again and stood up to let Koromon be.
He watched Sora kneeling in front of Pyocomon doing the same thing, except when she stood up with her back facing him, he noticed hushed gasps that could have only come from her, and her shoulders began to tremble.
“What’s wrong…?” Taichi lifted his hand to reach for her shoulder. But before he could, Sora turned and threw her arms around him, holding him tightly with her face hidden in the front of his shirt.
“I tried so hard to convince myself that you were still alive,” she whispered with a quiver. “I’m so glad that you are… Thank goodness…”
Taichi was startled, to say the least. He had been so used to seeing her brush off her own feelings enough to hide them from everyone else.
He never thought he’d ever see her cry for him.
“Sora…” was all he could say. He found himself at a loss of what to do whenever she got emotional, but he hated seeing her like this. Pulling her close, he wrapped his arm around her and held her close with his other hand cradling the back of her head.
He thought back to the moment before he fell into the crevice during the battle and blacked out, followed by what happened when he came to and discovered Nishijima-san who ended up in the same place. The moment that Dark Gennai revealed that only one of them could escape that place alive, Taichi knew that he had to find a way to save everyone.
Even if it meant sacrificing himself.
“I was terrified,” he told Sora, holding her as she quietly sobbed. “I wanted to save Meiko and her partner. I wanted everyone to stay out of harm’s way from that fight. That’s why I ran.”
“Baka,” Sora said, sniffling. “You didn’t have to run after them, only to get caught in the crossfire. But…”
She looked up at him, revealing her tear-stained cheeks and her eyes puffy, which he was certain was also from fatigue.
“...You must have been terrified coming back here, too. You had to fight through that, even when you knew there was a bigger fight here in the Real World... It couldn’t have been easy. Doing what you needed to do even when you’re terrified: that’s why you bear the Crest of Courage, right?”
Taichi felt his eyes begin to water. Even before telling her the details, she gave him the perspective in the words that he needed to hear.
It was his turn to cry. Sora ran her hand slowly up and down his back as he let his tears stream down his chin and onto her shoulder. He needed to let that out, to grieve over the weight of his choices and the losses he had to bear.
He was glad to have Sora there for him.
“Taichi…” he’d heard Koromon say. Looking toward the tree, Taichi saw that Koromon and Pyocomon had opened their eyes and were watching their human partners in sadness.
But Taichi took one deep breath and sighed. His tears stopped rolling, and he felt a little bit lighter.
“You okay, Taichi?” Sora asked him when they pulled apart.
“I am,” he replied, cracking a smile. “Thanks.”
There was a certain glow to the smile she gave him back. Even as the rays of sunlight shimmered on her cheeks and on her lashes from her tears.
It made him realize something.
“You know, Sora, what you said about my crest… I could say the same about yours.”
“Really?”
“Staring at the threat of danger, terrified, but doing it to protect the ones you care about. That’s love. That’s why you bear that crest.”
There was no doubt that the moments in the Digital World after the reboot sprung into her mind. He remembered how she tried to fight off dark Gennai on her own, and jumped onto Mugendramon for Piyomon.
Watching her eyebrows furrow as she ran the memories in her head, then seeing her lower lip tremble - he wondered just how hard it was for her, too.
“Sora.”
“Hmm?” she said, blinking at him as she appeared to return to the present.
Taichi brushed his thumb against her cheek to wipe her tears away. They were both in the present now. It would take time for them to fully process the last few days, but Taichi realized he couldn't have done it without his own strength.
And it was Sora who helped him realize it.
“I’m glad you’re here with me," Taichi said, taking her hand.
Sora’s eyes fell from his gaze to their hands, suddenly expressionless. Taichi began to wonder if he made a mistake, and he could feel his face burning.
“Well, you know-” he added, recognizing that he was stammering his words but he couldn’t stop. “I mean- um…”
“I’m glad you’re here with me, too,” Sora replied, closing her hand around his. When Taichi looked at her again, she was looking up at him, smiling in her radiance.
He hoped that Sora realized her own strength, too.
“Taichi,” Koromon called.
“Sora,” said Pyocomon.
Taichi looked down to see both Digimon standing at their feet.
“Can we eat now, Taichi?”
“I wanna eat, too, Sora.”
“Let’s go have some breakfast, then,” said Taichi.
“I’m sure we all need it,” added Sora.
Koromon jumped up to Taichi who carried him with one arm. Pyocomon did the same with Sora. The four of them went on their way to find breakfast, with Taichi and Sora walking side-by-side, never letting go of each others’ hands.

Digimon Adventure 2020, episode 9 reaction (and over-analysis)
This week, a pure Shonen episode, complete with emotion-charged power aura. Masaru would be proud.
The first thing we see is the now typical Tokyo report, except this time there’s no Grandpa Tachikawa or Hikari. Just a cold report of the situation, followed by the most ominous fade to static we’ve seen in a Digimon show. The second thing we see is Ogremon reporting to a hologram of Devimon, ending it with the most intense cry of shame and impotence in a Digimon show this side of Savers. So far, both scenes imply playtime’s over, everything is about to turn far more dangerous than before. Considering how intense most of the “playtime” episodes were, this can’t be good for the Children.
The star of this episode, as everyone has said, is Ogremon. I’ve seen some people imply he grew morals or something, which, he really didn’t. Like most Shonen antagonists that come to an understanding with the protagonist through battle, it’s only his pride talking, and his sacrifice at the end is not motivated by the Children so much as by spite at Devimon and MetalTyranomon replacing him. Taichi, Agumon and the rest will probably think he sacrificed himself for them, because they’re children and want to believe the best out of someone who just helped them, but really, he’s just getting back at the ones who “betrayed” him.
Not that the sacrifice scene isn’t great. It reminds me of the scene in the first OVA where Greymon suddenly wakes up and, after having his actual allegiance be ambiguous for the past few scenes, sacrifices himself by performing a suicide attack on a Perfect-level Parrotmon. Whether Ogremon is really dead or not is unclear as of now. While I would of course like him to come back later (as Titamon), I’m also fine with him dying now. It’s a good end for the starter villain.
The other star of the episode was, of course, the fight. It’s dragged down a bit by the “flashback to 2 minutes ago”, but otherwise? This is the best fight in the series so far, surpassing even the first 3 episodes. It may even be the best non-movie fight in Digimon, in choreography if not in emotional resonance. Ogremon and Greymon use everything at their disposal to surprise and take down each other. My favorite part is when Greymon shoots fire to knock Ogremon’s club out of his hand, but it was all awesome. Violence was used to great effect, with the lack of actual blood (because this is a digital world) allowing them to have things like Ogremon losing an eye without losing “for kids” status. The sound, both the effects while clashing and the soundtrack, were on-top during the entire episode.
Other points:
It seems Taichi’s response to panic is to shove it all down and replace it with anger at his impotence. Happened in the last episode, happened twice in the current one, and I haven’t rewatched the first 2 episodes but it probably happened there too. Interesting trait. There’s a brief hint that Greymon is ready to evolve with the eye color change, but even the digivice boost can’t do much against a Perfect-level. Sure would be nice to have more Adult levels with them, wouldn’t it?
Jou and Mimi continued to have a great dynamic. Jou’s smart (the map!) but hampered by his need for recognition (”I’m the leader!”), Mimi’s perceptive (”they seem like they’re having fun”) but doesn’t think things through (”why, of course the Holy Digimon are in the continent”). Palmon didn’t have much to do this episode, but Gomamon clapping after Jou declared himself the leader was more than enough.
Koushiro and Tentomon make it to the gang, save the day (briefly) and the bug digimon immediately uses the opportunity to be as hammy as possible.
Sora and Piyomon, once again, get shafted out of the focus. Everyone does, but it’s called to attention with Sora. I’m not sure if this is a Yoshino-style set-up for later development or if the writers just don’t care about her. I’m betting the later.
It’s the Digimon (and Yamato) who recognize the MetalTyranomon is a Perfect level and that they’re screwed. It’s good to see them knowing the mechanics of their own world.
Speaking of Perfect-level, Koushiro remembers the exposition on Ep 5 and believes the Perfect-level is somehow unnatural.
Like Gorimon and DarkTyranomon last episode, MetalTyranomon expels a black smoke from its mouth.
The biggest action-based mistake this episode were the Coredramon baing a complete failure at hitting anything. The second biggest was Yamato and Garurumon not doing anything when the MetalTyranomon showed up.
Super Saiyan aura. Nothing else needs to be said.
Next week, the clash of Cyborg-Dinosaur Perfect-levels. Some are already saying it’s too soon, but I’ll wait and see how it’s handled.

What is your thoughts on the first two episodes and opening of Digimon adventure 2020 or Digimon 2020 ?
Tumblr media
It’s too early to opine, but i think these first two episodes were good. I agree with my friends who consider OG Adv very slow in the first episodes (compared to how things are sped up in 02) and honestly I only watch OG because of the characters.
I’m happy that everyone is way too much softer than the OG line, even Yamato is soft gdi! I think I’m getting attached to Taichi because he’s so much a happy puppy. AND KOUSHIRO?? SO. CUTE?? I CRY.
Also Hikari is there since day one with an important role (if you go with the scenes in the OP) which I hope will give her justice. Takeru is intriguing me as well, since the profiles. A friend theorized he is Homeostasis’ vessel this time and maybe MAYBE it will be a thing...?
Anyway, them trying to modernize this series is going well. The first two episodes -- probably 3rd too -- are a complete modern version of Our War Game, and it was so super duper obvious because the title is “WAR GAME” and yet I’ve seen a lot of complaints. Also Omegamon appearing right now reminds me when Shoutmon X3 appeared incomplete in the very first ep, as foreshadowing.
Anyway, I’m excited for the future episodes!!
