Taiora Week 2020
Day 1 - First Meeting
Rating: General Audience Word Count: 936
Proving Herself
Their coach Douglas was a bulky American, living in Japan for ten years now, wed to a lovely Tokyo lady who’d bring sunscreen to every game and cake to every birthday. Douglas pestered them in every training, but in a good way, to bring out the best in the boys, and when there was trouble he was their shoulder to cry on.
Today, though, he was not alone. “Boys!” he called in his deep rumbling voice “I want you to meet your new teammate. This is Sora Takenouchi, she’s just moved in the area. I don’t have to tell you to be kind to her, now do I?” Douglas raised an eyebrow.
The boys quickly shook their heads though they were not sure what to make of a girl on their team. They had heard of all girl teams but didn’t really give them credit to keep up with their level. And they expected the same from the red haired, scrawny girl standing beside their coach.
None of them moved until their captain suddenly got up, drawing all their attention to him, and extended his hand. “Hi, I’m Taichi Yagami, the captain. I’m happy to have you on my team.”
Sora looked up, a little confused, but her tense shoulders started to loosen a little. After a split-second of consideration, she shook it firmly and smiled.
“Is she going to change with us?”, one of them asked peeved, pulling a towel over his boxer shorts.
Immediately, Sora took a step back, her face having the same guarded expression as when she had come in.
Coach Douglas sternly eyed the player in question. “Yes, she will. You’re eight, she’s not going to steal your abs by just looking at them.” With a firm “Training starts in ten” he left the kids to change.
“Don’t worry about Yusei, he’s usually a bit cagey at the beginning but when you get to know him better he’s a great friend” Taichi, who was still standing in front of Sora, said. Then he turned to his teammates “You heard the coach! She’s our new player so we’re gonna help her and not ride roughshod over her.” Then he showed Sora a free locker where she could change in front of.
The sun was hidden behind fuzzy clouds when they entered the field. Coach Douglas had prepared a set of tasks that they had to tackle in groups and then rotate around on clockwise. Sora was in Taichi’s group. Quickly, she had earned the respect of the other boys in that group. She could keep up easily at the tasks whether they regared speed, skill, or accuracy.
The second part of the training consisted of dribbling exercises where they were told to pair up. Taichi immediately came over to Sora. “So you’re new here” he said, hoping to get a bit more information out of her.
“Yeah, my Mom wanted to open her own flower shop and she found that empty retail unit just a couple of blocks away from the stadium. It was too far to travel there every day and back home so we moved.”
“And what does your Dad do?”
“He’s an anthropology professor in Kyoto.”
Taichi eyes went wide. “He doesn’t live with you?”
Sora shook her head while she passed the ball back to him. “No, but that’s okay. I don’t know it any other way. I think Mom tries to be both parents for me. But she doesn’t like that I play football. I had to beg here to let me go here. She thinks I’m too fragile or whatever. Just because I’m a girl.”
“I don’t think that that’s the reason. She’s got only you so of course she’s worried.”
Sora looked doubtingly at him but before she could reply their coach blew his whistle. “Everybody gather!” he called.
They assembled around him, hands poised on their hips, feet balanced on the balls.
“Time for your favourite part of the training: the game!”
The boys cheered, and Sora cheered the loudest. It was finally time to show them all what she was capable of.
Counting alternately between one and two, he divided the children into two groups. This time, Sora and Taichi were on opposite teams but she was supposed to play with Yusei.
He eyed her with suspicion. “You can go to the left defender position” he ordered her and positioned himself as striker.
Coach Douglas looked around the kids. They shuffled their feet in anticipation. He inhaled deeply and blew his whistle with puffed cheeks.
Taichi was the first at the ball, manoeuvring it through his fellow teammates that were now his opponents. But not for long.
Sora did her best on the defender position and that was a lot. She easily separated Taichi from the ball, leaving him awestruck behind. Her dribbling was smooth, rounding the boys just like Taichi had done seconds earlier though in the opposite direction. She lifted her head, quickly assessed the situation and passed the ball to Yusei who had offered himself on the right-hand side. He accepted the pass with an appreciative nod - his first reluctant reaction towards her had faded fast as he knew how to recognize a skilled player. Two more long strides, a powerful kick, and the first goal of the match was scored.
His team mates cheered while he approached Sora. “Well played” he said and offered his hand.
Sora shook it without hesitation. “Nice effort” she replied equally esteeming.
Suddenly Taichi appeared beside Sora to put a hand on her shoulder. “Hey Sora, that was great! Welcome to the team!”

Taiora Week 2020 - Day 2: First Date
Graduation is around the corner, and they’re weeks away from entering their adult lives. The school is throwing an end-of-year formal, and she asks whether he’s going to go. He says he’s still thinking about it, but he’s not that interested. This is how he reacts to every school event, aside from his own football matches. She scolds him for not being more enthused, because she considers this a necessary occasion for every final year student to attend.
She wonders whether he has anyone he’d like to ask. Maybe Mimi, he muses with a shrug. She has been hinting to him that she wants to see what the upperclassmen formal will be like, but she tells him that someone has already asked Mimi. He shrugs again.
She sighs and tells him that nobody has asked her either, then suggests that perhaps they can go together as friends. He agrees easily with that same indifference.
As a child, she was teased for having a male best friend, but once everyone reached puberty, that teasing turned to envy. Taichi is a convenient friend to have whenever she needs a male companion but can’t find a date. They’ve known each other for so long and are so platonic that he doesn’t really mind, because he does the same with her.
They don’t really talk about the formal again until the day before, when he asks her what colour tie he should wear to match her dress, and whether he should pick her up or just meet at the school. She is floored by the latter question because they live in the same apartment complex, for crying out loud.
Taichi, for being so clueless, cleans up well, and he arrives at her home looking rather dashing. She checks the hue of his tie against her dress to make sure it doesn’t clash—he doesn’t realise there are different shades of the same colour—and they’re off to the formal. He’s the most interested in the food, but she’s able to force him on the dance floor too. She tries to teach him how to dance, but he’s clumsy and lacks rhythm. He doesn’t care that she is embarrassed for him, gyrating to the music in a humiliating but admittedly amusing blend of ineptitude and shamelessness.
At the end of the night, he drops her off at her building and jokes that she should thank him for his company when she was in such desperate need of a date, though he also tells her that he had a good time when she takes offence.
He stands there, waiting for her to go inside, but she stands there too. He looks confused.
He’s just a friend. He has shown no interest, and she isn’t really interested in him either, but he’s there and conventionally attractive. Same as always, when she needs a male companion but doesn’t have one, he fits the bill.
She steps forward, lands on her toes, and plants a peck on his lips. He stares at her, for once in his life at a loss for words.
She tells him not to misunderstand. She doesn’t like him. She just wants to enter adulthood and university life with the experience of kissing someone.
His astonishment fades, and his lips spread into that smug smirk he always gives her. She knows what’s coming, and he immediately teases her for not having kissed anyone yet. Unlike how he is with her, she gets flustered when he teases her. She clarifies again that it isn’t that she likes him and emphasises for him not to misunderstand her. She is just comfortable around him, so she thought it wouldn’t be awkward.
He nods understandingly, still appearing too arrogant for her liking, then leans down to kiss her again. His isn’t as innocent, using his lips to part hers, and when he finishes, he looks even more haughty, licking his lips.
Even though he has already pulled away, she pushes him against his chest as if what he’s done is more uncalled for than what she did to him. She glares at him, which has no effect. In fact, it only makes him even more pompous.
He doesn’t want her first kiss to be so lacklustre, he explains, especially if his name will be attached to it. Whoever she ends up dating though, he swears he is absolutely going to reveal that he stole her first kiss.
That’s what he says anyway, but later in the future, he never does.

If you don't complete the week, you have the rest of the month to upload your contributions and we will be sharing them here.
Sorry for the delay to upload this message, but my university absorbed me.

Prince of Tennis (...and Flowers)
Day 3 - Hobbies
#noct writes taiora week 2020 [ 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 ]
@taioraweek for more Taiora love! @noctisfishing for Taiora/Digimon writings and more. :)
Setting: Digimon Adventure tri. timeframe / Canon Divergent
Tags: Fluff, Romance
MinorCameo pairing: Mimato
Other Characters: Toshiko Takenouchi
Notes: I think we know more about Sora’s hobbies, and hopefully the silly title gives you a hint as to what this story is about.
I also wrote in small musical references from DigiDestined FM by @earlgreymon & @tangledupblue‘s digidestined-inspired playlists. I recommend you listen to them - there’s something for everyone! :D
~*~*~*~*~*~
On a late afternoon, Sora sat on a bench at the side of the school tennis court with a towel hanging over the top of her uniform for tennis practice. She was relaxed as she took intermittent sips from her water bottle as she waited for her mother to call the end of practice.
“Hey, look! it’s Sora!”
"Sora? You're here late."
Sora turned around to see Yamato and Mimi standing on the other side of the chain-linked fence.
“Hey, guys,” she said. “I was supposed to go home and prepare dinner. Taichi said that he wanted to come over and help, but…”
She turned around to face the tennis court again to see her mom on one side of the court shouting at the player on the other side - that player being Taichi, who was in his gym shorts and loose muscle shirt.
“...can’t prepare dinner if no one else is there to eat it.
“He’s that into it, huh?” Yamato asked.
Sora saw Taichi catch sight of Yamato, and he raised the tennis racket high above his head as a greeting.
“Taichi!” Sora’s mom yelled, making Taichi flinch and turn around to return to focus.
Sora, Yamato, and Mimi laughed quietly in their corner.
“I guess I shouldn’t be surprised,” Sora explained. “It wasn’t that hard of a transition for me from playing soccer.”
Sora wasn’t sure how it happened, but she tried to explain it to Yamato and Mimi in the best way that she could. One day, she and her boyfriend Taichi were talking about soccer and their individual hobbies; the next day, he was jogging alongside her at the start of her tennis practice with her mom coaching them for the day.
“So, he wants to try out all of the things that you like to do?” Mimi asked after her explanation. “That’s so cute!”
“Yeah. I’ve gotta admit - it’s been pretty funny to watch him try.”
Sora’s mom blew the whistle, and Taichi lowered his arms letting the tennis racket swing toward the ground. As he headed to where Sora sat, Yamato let out a snort of laughter, and Mimi gasped.
“You even got him to wear your visor,” he said. “I’m not going to let him live that down.”
“Be nice!” Sora warned, although she thought that seeing her white visor over Taichi’s big and fluffy brown hair was as funny as Yamato did. She stood up from the bench and held out Taichi’s towel and water bottle by the time he got to her.
“Aww, just for me?” Taichi asked her. “Aren’t you sweet?”
Sora smiled at him as they stood face-to-face. She had already had a chance to cool down a little from practice, but being close to him, she felt the heat emanating from him after he moved around the court. There was more that she wanted to say, but she knew that Yamato and Mimi were still standing on one side, watching intently; and although she was far away, her mother was staring them down.
“Listen,” Taichi added in a softer voice for only her to hear. “Tonight’s probably not a good night for me to come over. I’ll just walk home with Yamato.”
“Ha! Was Mom giving you bad vibes or something?”
“...Kinda.”
Taichi chuckled nervously, but Sora frowned.
“Sora!” her Mom shouted.
“Alright then,” said Sora, letting the troubling thought rest for the night. “I guess I’ll see you tomorrow? At ‘One OK Rock’?”
Part of their hobby swap was listening to each other’s music, which had been a ‘hit or miss’ depending on the music they shared with each other.
Taichi laughed at her reference of his favorite band. “I’ll get you to listen to the acoustic versions of their music. I think you might like those better. You liked OneRepublic, right?”
“I did. I’m surprised you even liked Norah Jones and Dido.”
“Why wouldn’t I? They remind me of you.”
Sora went in for a tight hug, and she felt Taichi’s arms around her back as he gave her a squeeze. She loved that he gave her the best hugs.
Then silence fell between the two of them when they pulled apart. They stared at each other, but Sora broke the gaze first, feeling herself blush. She felt too self-conscious with other people watching them, especially her mother.
“Love the new look,” Sora heard Yamato tease as she walked away.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Taichi was over at the Takenouchi residence the next afternoon, sitting next to Sora on the floor in front of a flat, round container, with flowers and branches neatly laid out on either side.
Sora sat on her knees while Taichi sat with his legs crossed to watch her. She had given him half an hour of attempting ikebana with her guidance until she grew impatient from bickering with him over how he was handling the pieces. As many times as she told him to be gentle, he still ended up with a few bandages around his fingers.
Silence had fallen between them as she began to concentrate on choosing the right long branch from the small stack she and her mother had picked out earlier that morning. After running her hand on each one and observing each branching having a variation of sprouted leaves, she chose the one that she felt was right, and gently extended its branches before setting it in the container.
“You make this look so easy, Sora,” Taichi quipped.
“It’s not as easy as it looks,” she fretted. “I’ve been practicing this for a few years now, and I still don’t feel like I’m getting it right.”
“But it’s something you like doing, right?”
Sora smiled. “I do now. I used to hate it, but that was before I resolved things with my mom. Now I like it because I get to do it with her.”
It was likely because her mom was out shopping that Taichi said it so freely:
“I don’t think your mom likes me.”
But Sora expected him to say that and knew he had been ready to vent about it, so she continued to place another leafy branch. “What makes you say that?”
“Did you see how harsh she was with me at tennis yesterday? I’ve never had a coach so strict.”
“You’ve probably never had to deal with your girlfriend’s mother as a coach, either.”
“It’s like she doesn’t approve of me, or something.”
“Now, that’s ridiculous.” Sora had to laugh while she turned to choose the bloomed flowers. “Mom’s just strict when she teaches; that’s why it seems like she might be hard on you.”
She placed the flowers in between the branches in the container, but her face fell when she looked at the arrangement so far.
“She was really hard on me at first. That’s why I pushed myself to train harder. But, I’ve learned that she just wanted me to do well, so I know where she’s coming from. I think that goes for you, too, Taichi.”
Turning her head to Taichi, she gave him a smile in hopes to reassure him.
“She could tell you were serious about tennis,” she added. “If you weren’t, she would’ve refused to help you.”
“That makes sense.” Taichi smiled back at her, and it brightened her own smile knowing that she made him feel better.
After a few minutes of silence, Sora had let go of the last stem and sat back from her flower display. The arrangement still didn’t feel like her best work. She wondered if the branches needed to be spread out more or be rearranged, and what her mother would think of it when she returned home.
“Wow…” Taichi leaned closer towards her to look. “You really do have a talent for this, Sora.”
“You think so?”
“Yeah, this looks awesome!”
She tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear which might have looked red from the heat on her face. “Thanks, Taichi.”
“Say, since I obviously suck at this, maybe you should teach me another hobby instead.”
She shot a look at him. “Like what?”
“I dunno. Sewing?”
“No.”
Taichi grimaced. “That was quick.”
“You want to try to handle a needle when you don’t have the patience to handle the thorns on these branches? You’re only going to suffer with more pricks on your fingers.”
“Really, Sora? I’ve gotten bruises and broken some bones playing soccer, and you’re worried about my hands?”
She adjusted her sitting position to face him as she kneeled, and she held his hands in hers while she looked over the bandages on his fingers.
“You really need to be more careful, Taichi.”
Taichi placed his rough hand over hers with his other one underneath, causing Sora to hold her breath.
“You don’t have to worry about me so much. You know that, right?”
Her eyes meeting his made Sora lose what she meant to say next. He had a soft smile on his lips, but he stared at her with the same sense of waiting as he had the late afternoon before.
She couldn’t wait either. Slowly, she leaned forward, and noticed that he was doing the same toward her. They had only kissed each other on the cheek twice, both times out of public view. Sora was always self-conscious when everyone else was watching.
But in that moment, it was just the two of them, and they inched closer together, and Sora anticipated finally closing that gap…
The noise against the front door caused both of their heads to turn toward it.
“Oh…” Sora said with an exhale, crestfallen by the interruption. With her face flushed and her heart rapidly beating, she returned to her kneeling position before the ikebana, and she saw Taichi from the corner of her eyes return to his crossed legs, blushing all the same.
“I’m home!” Sora’s mom called.
“Welcome back,” Sora replied. “How was shopping?”
“I’ve bought some more vegetables for the week. I’ve got a great idea for dinner tonight. You’re welcome to join us for dinner, Taichi, if you don’t have plans.”
“I’ll be happy to,” Taichi said, and Sora noticed that he looked especially cheerful. “I guess I can help you and Sora like I was meant to yesterday.”
“Ah, yes. Thanks to having us work on your poor form.”
“Y-yeah…” Taichi’s face showed a hint of horror.
“You’ve got the fancy footwork, Taichi, but it’s your stances when you swing the racket that needs more work.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Mom, please go easy on him,” Sora chimed in, feeling pity for Taichi. “He’s just starting out.”
But as her mom set the bags of vegetables on the counter, she paused as she looked in Sora’s direction.
“Did you do that, Sora?” she asked, staring curiously.
“Oh…” Sora turned to her flower arrangement. “I did. I was showing Taichi how to do it.”
“Well, you showed him well, dear. Just beautiful.”
Sora beamed at her mother’s compliment. “Thanks, Mom.”
“Ah! I think I’ll change out of these clothes after being out for most of the day. I’ll be back to start preparing dinner.”
“Okay.”
Sora looked at her own flower display again, feeling silly for doubting herself. She reached over to brush her finger over a leaf on one of the branches when Taichi called her name and lightly nudged her arm with his elbow.
“Hmm?” She looked to meet his eyes again as he smiled at her.
“I agree with what she said, Sora. ‘Just beautiful’.”
Sora knew that it was more than the flowers Taichi was talking about.
When Sora leaned forward this time, she finally kissed his lips. She could tell that she startled him, and in a short moment of panic she realized her hands were at her sides and she didn’t know where to move them.
But then he pushed against her slightly. Her hands made their way to either side of his cheeks, and she felt his hand on the side of her neck. She took in this new feeling of his lips against hers as they held each other, and she wanted to explore this even more.
“Sora,” her mom called suddenly, causing both her and Taichi to jump and break their kiss.
“Y-yes, Mom?!” Sora called back in a tone higher than normal. She and Taichi had quickly jumped a few feet apart from each other, although her mom had yet to reappear.
“Can you and Taichi start chopping up the onions and the leeks?”
“Okay!”
Sora stood up first, then she helped Taichi up as he shook his legs from being numb. Not wanting to risk another interruption, Sora and Taichi laughed together as they held each others’ hands before heading toward the kitchen. He offered to slice the onions which she accepted, knowing that unlike with her other hobbies, Sora could trust him to do at least that.
Well…
“Oops,” Taichi said as he let an onion drop and roll on the kitchen floor.

Setting: Pre-Digimon Adventure(1999)
Tag: Friendship
Notes: I wrote this scene for this prompt but it ended up not fitting; it went into mother-daughter territory but I wanted to share it!
HERE WE GO!
~*~*~*~*~
The sound of the coach’s whistle ended soccer practice, and the group of fifth graders dispersed from the field. Taichi wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his arm as he collected his breath from the practice match with his teammates. It was a challenging match that brought his competitive nature to the forefront, but the challenge made it fun for him.
Instead of helping his teammates clear out the field, he decided to rest for a few moments. No one had taken the goal post back to the club room yet, so he figured he would sit and lean against it for a while before he took it back himself.
His eyes fell on the soccer ball a few feet away from him - the ball which, moments earlier, he had attempted to block from the goal post he was leaning against. I’m not gonna let that happen at the match this weekend, he thought to himself.
But Taichi sat back up from slouching, and he wondered if the goal post was stable enough for his back. He didn’t have enough time to wonder, however, after the support behind him suddenly disappeared; his back thudded against the grass, and his eyes were suddenly staring at the clouds in the sky.
Bursts of laughter from nearby reached his ears. “Stop slacking, Yagami!” he heard one of his teammates yell.
“Hey!” Taichi yelled back as he watched two boys carry the goal post away.
“You had it coming, you know,” he heard from the opposite direction.
Taichi lifted himself up and leaned on his elbows to see the face of the voice that he recognized. The red-headed teammate had kicked the ball lightly in his direction, and he watched it roll slowly until it softly bounced at his thigh, which happened to be the same part of him that he used in his attempt to deflect the ball from reaching the goal.
“Are you mocking me, Sora?” he asked with slight amusement.
“A little bit,” Sora replied, giggling as she approached him. “Mind if I join you?”
“Not at all.”
What she said stung him a little, but he didn’t want to admit it in front of her. Not when a cool girl like her decided to lay back on the grass adjacent to him. Without another word, he lifted his elbows and rested his head against his palms to join her in watching the sky.
“This was how we met, wasn’t it?”
Taichi shot her a glance before laughing aloud. “Yeah! We were in soccer uniforms, but we were a lot shorter, too.”
“That’s right. It was my first day joining the team. I was so nervous. Somehow, I kicked my feet up, then I missed the ball and fell backwards.”
“Yeah, I remember.”
Taichi remembered that day. It was a sunny day after a night of heavy rain, so the lawn had spots of mud. He had watched Sora run toward the ball and swing her leg over muddy terrain which caused her to slip toward the ground. As the boys around him chorused into laughter, he wondered why she didn’t get up immediately, so he ran to her and reached for her hand to help her stand up.
“You were the only one who didn’t laugh at me. You helped me up instead. I felt a little bit braver after that.”
Since then, Sora became one of the best players on their team. As competitive as Taichi was, he wasn’t surprised that she maneuvered through his tactics to make the game-winning point from the day’s practice match.
What surprised him, however, was the fact that she felt the need to be brave back then.
“I didn’t know that was how you felt, Sora.”
“It was.”
“But you’re not as nervous now, are you?”
Sora chuckled. “Now that I know that I can win against you? Of course not.”
Another sting. “Gee, thanks.”
Sora lifted her arm up, opening up her hand as though she was reaching for something. Taichi watched with interest as she squinted her eyes and curled her fingers above her.
“Hey! You two!” came a sudden shout.
Both Taichi and Sora sprang up from laying down, finding the coach glaring at them with his arms across his chest.
“Why aren’t you two helping with the clean up?” the coach continued. “Don’t make me punish you with extra laps during the next practice!”
“Sorry, Coach,” Taichi said with Sora in unison.
Taichi was the first to stand up, and immediately held out his hand for Sora to hold.
“Up you go,” he said, and as she stood, Taichi noticed her suddenly looking the other direction. “Everything okay?”
“Um, it’s fine!” she said, seemingly flustered.
“What are you embarrassed about?”
“I said, it’s fine, Taichi!”
“Okay…”
After a few steps in silence towards the club room, Taichi had an idea.
“Hey, do you want to head to the conbini after for some snacks?”
“No, I can’t,” Sora replied immediately. “I have to head home. Mom’s orders.”
“Aww, come on - it’s on the way!”
“I’m sorry, Taichi.”
She fell quiet; although, this time, Taichi noticed the look on her face. There was no smile or light in her eyes; nor was there annoyance or embarrassment. She looked as though something was bothering her.
“Are you okay, Sora?”
“I’m fine.”
They reached the club room before Taichi could question Sora again, but he was met with high fives and hard smacks of greeting on his shoulders from the other teammates. And before he knew it, he was carrying a mountain of towels to drop into the laundry basket on the other end of the club room.
By the time the soccer club had cleaned up and Taichi dressed out of his practice wear, he approached the school gate, surprised to see Sora standing there. She was looking up at the sky again, where the clouds were just about to cover the rays of the sun.
There was a lot that Taichi didn’t know about Sora. The more he watched her, the more he wanted to know what went on in her head as she looked up with an expression that he couldn’t read. Was her mind as clear as a sunny sky, or was it as cloudy as the sky before them?
“Thundershowers,” Sora said the moment Taichi stood in front of her.
“What?” he said, confused.
“Aren’t they great? It looks like there might be one coming soon.”
“Ahh…” Taichi looked up. “Well, let’s hope it passes and dries up before our next practice so you don’t slip again.”
Sora furrowed her brows. “What makes you think I’ll slip?”
“Ha, don’t worry. You know I’ve got your back. I’ll even catch you before it happens-”
Suddenly, Taichi noticed Sora’s face turning red. He retraced the words he said causing him to feel the heat rising in his cheeks.
“Well… we’d better hurry to the conbini so that I can make it home on time, Taichi.”
Taichi looked at Sora in surprise. “Wait - you’re coming with me?”
“Unless I end up leaving you behind,” she retorted, already starting towards that direction.
A smile formed on his lips as she walked away. Sora confused him to no end, but there was something about her that made him want to know more about her. He broke into a sprint to catch up to her side, and at the same time, he remembered something that the other teammates were talking about earlier which caught his interest.
“So, did you hear about summer camp next month? It sounds really awesome…”

Taiora Week 2020
Day 6 - Treasure
Taichi and Sora keep a notebook as mutual love letter and sometimes their exchanges lead to world-rocking decisions...
(ID: Four pictures of an open white-paged journal. The text on the first page reads: “ It’s early in the morning and you’re still sound asleep. Last night was a long one, I don’t even know when you came to bed. But I can tell that it was worth it. That wedding gown for Mimi looks gorgeous. Jou will be the proudest groom the world has ever seen – so far. When we’re going to marry, of, course, that will be me. I made you scrambled eggs. I know they taste better when they’re fresh but I wanted to leave something for you when you wake up. Today will be busy, I can sense that, so I don’t know when I’ll be back. I love you Sor.“ The page is adorned by a doodle of a sleepy bird in the lower right-hand corner.
The second page, adorned by a hand-drawn flower, reads: “ And I earned that sleep! But you’re right. The gown is one of my masterpieces. You know how self-critical I am and how hard it is for me to accept compliments but looking at that dress even I can’t find a fly in the ointment. You should be careful what you wish for, Taichi! I might or might not have already a sketch of my own wedding gown in the drawer. That can happen quicker than you think. Don’t worry about coming late: I’ve got another order, this time for business suit so I’ll be probably still awake when you get home. Love you too, Chi.“
The third page, illustrated by a doodle of a sparkling diamond ring, reads: “ I know we’ve just spoken in the kitchen but I can’t repeat it often enough – I’d love to see you in a wedding gown. Something flowing would suit you, or a mix of a traditional kimono and something more Western. I’m sorry but I don’t think such a frilly monster like you made for Mimi would be the thing for you. (I said it looks gorgeous and I mean that. For someone like Mimi). So we’re now actually talking about marriage? Does this count as a proposal or do you still want me to get a proper engagement ring?“
The remaining page, accentuated by the imprint of red lips, reads: “ You started this whole marriage talk! But I do think we’re at a point were we can seriously consider it. I wouldn’t mind a ring, but you don’t have two spend two months’ worth salary on it (Heavens forbid!) and don’t you dare stage a “romantic” proposal where you put the letters for “Will you marry me?” on the N700 and then drag me to Tokyo Station to watch it pull in. A simple question at the breakfast table suffices. Because you already know the answer...“ End ID)
