So based on the little au were doing: Mikey visits his family after some time since he gave Rina up to them for her own safety

OH MY GODD. We gotta call this the 2017 AU

Parenthood was a complicated topic for Shinichiro. A role he played to the best of his abilities and a position forced onto him multiple times. There were times where he felt more like dad than big brother, a sign of his lost youth. In a way, the Black Dragons was a place where he could be a kid. Hard to imagine how one night could change the course of everything forever.

A tired sigh left his mouth as he crashed onto the couch. Taking care of three younger siblings was hard enough; doing so with kids of your own was a different level. Nothing could prepare him for the amount of sleepless nights he'd gone through. Maybe it was time to take that advice and get a nanny.

"Where is Waka when you need him?" Shinichiro huffed. He was about to talk to the kitchen when there was a knock on the door.

Who could that be, he asked himself. He looked out the peephole and almost went cold. Slowly, he opened the door to look back at who stood on the other end.

"Hello, Shinichiro..."

"Manjiro..."

"May I come in?"

Shinichiro stood aside, allowing him passage. He then peeked his head out again, looking around for any goons. Mikey must've sensed this since he responded with, "Don't worry, I came alone."

With some ease to his worries, Shinichiro closed the door. The brothers stood in silence for minutes which seemed like hours. Millions of thoughts and emotions raced through both of them. Last time the eldest brother heard from the younger, he made his way to Manila. Not before he left him with an important responsibility, though.

"My daughter," Mikey finally spoke. "How is she?"

"Happy and healthy as any baby. She's strong too," Shinichiro quietly replied. "Loves teddy bears. She'll get upset if she isn't sleeping with her favorite one."

Mikey smiled. He made the right decision. Rina would grow up surrounded by love and peace, not death and destruction. "...I'm sorry I put this burden on you."

"Please don't." Shinichiro cringed at how harsh he sounded. With everything happening in Toman, being mad at his baby brother was the last thing he could do. "I understand why you did it."

Silence fell between them again. Both had so many unspoken feelings about current happenings but kept them locked away out of fear of the fragile stability breaking.

"Do you want to see her? She's sleeping right now."

"No." His answer was swift, direct. "She deserves to live peacefully."

Mikey walked back to the door, briefly stopping to look at Shinichiro one last time. The person he'd become hurt him. Mikey couldn't fault him for how hard he tried and continued to try. Hence why he knew Rina would be safe than she ever was with him.

"One day, if Rina ever asks you about me, tell her that I loved her. I loved her with everything in me."

Shinichiro silently nodded.

"It was nice to see you again, big brother."

"I will. Take...take care of yourself, Manjiro."

Redraw of an original from September of 2017– someone liked it and made me think about it for the first time in a while. My Portal dragon au was a fun time. I miss just being mindlessly self-indulgent like that, haha.

This is a bit of a weird redraw. Usually when I do redraws, I try to match the style more, so the technical improvement is clearer. But with this one, I was thinking more about, like… if I had the skill then that I do now, what would I have made?

Growing up, I was really envious of looser styles that could rely more on color and light than lines. Lineart and cell shading is still my bread and butter, clearly, and I’ve always enjoyed it. But when I was younger, it sometimes felt like a cage. The old drawing, with its blurry but strong colored lighting, is an obvious attempt to get away from that.

So, I paid less attention to the specifics of the original composition and tried more to capture atmosphere. I love the lighting and aesthetic of Portal 2, it’s still incredibly influential on me, so I wanted to see how much closer I could get now. I’m not all the way there— especially sketching this at 2am with no references— and there’s a lot of things I still want to improve. But I’d like to think past me would have been really, really excited about what I can do now.

Wanted to try my hand at designing some slightly older duck kiddos!!! Headcanons and insane ramblings under the cut:

I designed these to be around 14-15, so early high school age (y'know in a hypothetical scenario where they actually end up going to high school). I imagine they still adventure with Scrooge and the fam, just moreso on the weekends (cut to Huey on the floor of the Sunchaser frantically trying to finish his biology homework while they're being shot at by sky pirates). Donald and Della are also both a part of the school PTA. Nobody else in the PTA is happy about this. Now for individual headcanons:

Huey:

Straight A student that's kinda neurotic about his grades, will freak out if any of them drop to a B.

I like to think of his hat as his comfort item so he still has the same one and if it was up to me he would also wear it to adulthood. even if a grown ass man in a lil baseball cap looks silly.

He's sooo mad about Dewey being taller than him lol.

Dewey:

Solid B student with the occasional C.

Couldn't join the drama club and the basketball team at the same time so he chose the drama club (the actual reason is that he tried out for the basketball team and didn't make it but he won't admit that). He still likes to carry around a basketball and practice on the court by himself.

Grows cheek fluff like the others he just cuts his off out of insecurity.

He's the tallest.

Louie:

Has pretty shitty grades, not because he's not smart, but because he doesn't really try (I mean, kid already has it made, why bother?).

Still wears the same green hoodie every day like he did as a kid but this time it's a little bit bigger and baggier. Does he wear the same clothes underneath too???? We will never know.

He's the shortest.

Webby:

Also a straight A student like Huey but seemingly puts in way less effort than him (which bothers Huey greatly).

Has to carry all her supplies in her arms because she's not allowed to bring a bag to school anymore (she kept trying to bring weapons in. Not because she planned on using them, but because you can never be too prepared.)

In at least 5 different clubs, probably started like 3 of them.

Concept art for the Eleventh Fleet - Mitt'raw'nuruodo.

Hands got to the rendering of Mitt'raw'nuruodo's sketches. It was unusual to draw him without the Grand Admiral’s signature hairstyle, but I really wanted to make a strong contrast between his life “before” and “after” starting his service in the navy. Life on his home planet certainly wasn't easy.

+ some parallel with Ezra and his fate.

…And I still think the idea of ​​making Thrawn's kintsugi-style form during his exile is my best idea :3 After red eyeliner on Karyn's eyes, of course.
