More humanized Lightning McQueen headcanons

Man’s knees pop likes he’s an old man

I read somewhere one of the most common injuries are knee injuries and back pain

Like I think he probably has chronic knee pain

Constantly wraps and has to ice it after a race or practice

Doc makes sure he is taking care of his body because he knows that Lightning will neglect it out of pride

Once Harv kept scheduling him races back to back and Lightnings completely neglected his knee due to barely having any downtime to rest

His knees completely buckled after a race, causing him to fall to the ground and Doc nearly had a damn panic attack thinking the kid passed out

Doc refused to let Lightning race or practice for a week

He complained because he said he was “bored”

Secretly he loved the free time and being able to actually relax and let his body heal

Lightning takes cooking lessons from Flo because Doc could not stand Lightning being okay with eating cereal for dinner

Doc asked Flo to give Lightning lessons so he could cook for himself when he wasn’t home

Every week he will occasionally go out and play poker or cards with Sheriff

Lightning surprisingly picked up fast and cooked a meal for Sally

He got a recipe from Luigi and it was the best thing Sally ever ate

She won’t admit it tho

Lightning is great with kids

Sally has talked about having kids but obviously is the far FAR future

Lightning won’t admit it, but he’s afraid of being a dad

His real father was horrible to him

His mom left him when he was a toddler

He knows nothing about how to be a father, only what a father isn’t

But the more time he spends with Doc, the more he realizes what a father should be

Because obviously he sees Doc as a father figure

How Lightning gets Lost (Human AU)

One of the major things to figure out when writing a human AU for Cars is coming up with a believable scenario on exactly how Lightning gets lost on Route 66 and ends up in Radiator Springs. Here's mine.

So, while traveling to California, Mack makes a pit stop and while he’s gone, Lightning wakes up to go find him. But while he’s walking through the part of the trailer where his car is, he bumps into a shelf which cause oil or axle grease or something to fall onto the car and get all over it. So, Lightning takes the car out of the trailer to one of those car wash things and hoses it off. Meanwhile, Mack finishes up and drives off without noticing that both Lightning and his car are gone. And like an idiot, Lightning left his phone and wallet in the trailer. Lightning gets back to where Mack parked and finds he’s gone and that's when he realizes he left his phone in the trailer. So, he gets in his totally not street legal stock car and drives off and then it plays out like it did in the movie.

(Note: yes, I'm aware that in real life, the cars in NASCAR are stored at the top of the trailer rather than the bottom, but for the purpose of this story, they're not)

Humanized Lightning McQueen headcanons: angst edition

Going insane chat idk

Secretly still feels like an outsider in radiator springs

It took him MONTHS before he finally became comfortable

He’s really good at hiding his emotions

Especially since Harv had him put on a cocky persona for the camera

Doesn’t feel like he deserves the love from the town

Still doesn’t handle loss well

Everyone will reassure him that they’re not disappointed with him if he loses but he struggles to believe them

Parents are divorced (his mom left when he was really young and his dad was abusive)

Racing was his only escape

Harv hired him when he was only 17

Has panic attacks but never knew what they were until Doc found him one day and explained after talking him through it

Doc recommended medication

It helped Lightning but he is embarrassed to talk about it

When he became friends with Cal, he opened up after Cal casually mentioned he takes them too

He will downplay injuries so he can still race

During his first few months in Radiator Springs, he ended up twisting his ankle and hid it from Doc

His recovery time was longer, which led him to spiral when he should’ve been resting

He can’t stand missing out on practice

He’s been putting on a cocky persona for so long that sometimes his cocky attitude will slip out and he will have to apologize immediately

Everyone reassures him that they never take it to heart (sometimes they get a good laugh out of it) but Lightning can’t help but feel guilty

It’s 4am and I have cars brain rot again !!

Okay, I just want to say that @lightningstorm115 once came up with a crossover of «Cars» and «High School Musical». They both saved vibe 2006 so I wanted to consider it! This isn't the last art with this idea, definitely not the last... Because in this story, as in the story of the original, one day a new generation appears...

I know Cal and Bobby weren't in the first cars, but if they perform with Lightning in the third part, it means that they are about the same age and their youth was in 2006!
