When people tell me they prefer 1.0 svu I understand why, but if they tell me they prefer season 10-12? Blocked. Not only do those seasons just have some of the worst acting on the show, they writing is just wacky? It’s like they were trying too hard make the episodes unpredictable and give a twist.

Heleh Lifurloa
If the Clera Fula signifies the start of the rainy season, the Heleh Lifurloa signifies the end. Its root system works tirelessly to help drain the land and stabilize the ground in the wake of the rainy season. In the dry months, however, it's nowhere to be seen. By what process it disappears has yet to be directly observed, but in particularly wet years when the Heleh Lifurloas are far and few in between, they are sometimes seen all year round, vanishing only when the ground around it is sufficiently drained.
It has long, string-like sticky pistils with which to collect wind-blown pollen as Heleh Lifurloas tend not to grow close together. It stores water in its stem, leaves, petals and tubers, which, aside from the petals, all share a glassy appearance. The leaves and tubers swell the more water they collect and shrink as the plant uses it up. The tubers can be shaped to create beautiful, decorative pieces. The leaves and stems are not so easily manipulated, but nevertheless make elegant, decorative pieces if caught before their mysterious disappearance.
The corolla is sometimes plucked to be used as a decorative container, similar to a Jara Flora. The nectar is used to sweeten tea themed around the flower during the Tea Festival. The leaves, stem and tubers can be melted and boiled down to create a slightly sweet syrup as well, but as the initial melted plant is full of water, it usually takes quite a while to boil it down to a syrup, and few parts of the plant are edible without processing. The pistils are trimmed and used to add a sweet, herbal note to tea themed around the plant.

Tag game - 9 people you wanna get to know better
ack thanks for the tag @euelios
last song - Eat Your Young by Hozier, as of the time of typing. I will not apologize for Unreal Unearth consuming me wholly when it comes out.
currently watching - Absently rewatching Batman: The Brave And The Bold for the fun superhero background noise. Currently watching Ted Lasso with my qpp, and Abbott Elementary with the entire House Team, annnd Person of Interest with a smaller subset of the House Team. The perils of watching different shows with different people mean that progress is Very Slow on most of those, but I would recommend all of them. and Will speak further if anyone asks.
currently reading - Intermittently Fallen Hero, but on the non-IF front I don’t have any books I’m Actively reading. Contemplating returning to my October Daye reread, I was on An Artificial Night, and I need to pick up Nona the Ninth at some point. Might reread the Murderbot series, but I’d have to reclaim my copy of All Systems Red from the person I loaned it to. Book Reading Brain has mostly left for now, unfortunately.
current obsession - legally obligated to say Fallen Hero, i have not shut up about it since Retribution came out in February.
I will... not be tagging a full 9 people lol. but if you want to, no pressure, @jj-wildheart, @scrawlsonblankpaper, @fallen-angel161, @honor-among-thieves, @dogueteeth !

Houston Rockets Deal Jermaine Taylor to Sacramento Kings
Tumblr media
On December 15th, 2010, the Houston Rockets traded guard Jermaine Taylor and cash considerations to the Sacramento Kings for a conditional 2011 second round draft pick.
The Houston Rockets looked to add some youth to the roster in the 2009 NBA Draft. The team made a few trades during the draft, acquiring the draft rights to first rounder Chase Budinger.
The Rockets also acquired second round pick (number 32 overall) Jermaine Taylor. from the Washington Wizards for cash considerations. Houston paid $2.4 million for the rights to Taylor.
A high-flyer, the 6-foot-4 Taylor was the 2008-09 CUSA Player of the Year after averaging 26.2 PPG for the UCF Knights.
Taylor joined the Rockets for Summer League in Las Vegas where he averaged 11.0 PPG on 38% shooting and 2.3 APG in four games, including two starts.
The Rockets signed Taylor to a four-year contract worth $3.33 million with team options in the final two years of the deal.
Houston was missing star Yao Ming all season due to injury and other star Tracy McGrady was trying to return from a serious knee injury. before he was dealt at the trade deadline to the New York Knicks.
The Rockets were 17-11 after 28 games. The team hovered around .500 for much of the year and finished with a 42-40 record. The Western Conference saw all eight playoff teams win at least 50 games, keeping Houston out of the playoff picture.
Taylor was a limited participant in his rookie season. The guard played in 31 games (four starts) and managed 4.1 PPG, 1.5 RPG and 0.5 APG in 37.8% from the field. Taylor spent some of the 2008-09 season in the D-League with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
The UCF Product played in eight D-League games, putting up 18.0 PPG on 48% shooting, 4.8 RPG and 2.1 APG in 27.8 MPG. When he did play, Taylor was able to flash some of the athleticism that made him an auspicious scoring prospect.
youtube
Taylor once again joined the Rockets for 2010 Summer League. Though he shot just 28.6% from three, Taylor thrived for the Rockets, recording 18.4 PPG, 4.8 RPG and 2.0 APG in five games. Taylor's effort gave him a spot on the 2010 NBA Summer League All-Tournament Team.
Taylor played three games in preseason with Houston ahead of the 2010-11 season. His future was in doubt as the Rockets looked at potentially adding veteran center Erick Dampier and cutting a player to make room for the big man.
Taylor's name came up in rumors for a trade or to get cut, but he ended up staying with the Rockets. Taylor once again saw limited time. He appeared in eight games for Houston before he was traded to the Sacramento Kings. Taylor averaged 4.9 PPG and 1.1 RPG in 9.6 MPG.
After the Rockets swung a deal to acquire swingman Terrence Williams from the New Jersey Nets in a three-team deal, Houston had to offload Taylor to free up a roster spot for Williams. The Rockets were 10-14 when they traded Taylor.
In 39 games with the Rockets, Taylor posted 4.3 PPG, 1.4 RPG and 0.5 APG. The Central Florida product shot 40% from the field, 26% from the three-point line and 73% from the free-throw line in that time.
Tumblr media
Taylor joined a Sacramento Kings team at the bottom of the standings. The Kings were 5-17 when they acquired Taylor. The losing would continue as Sacramento finished the 2010-11 season with a 24-58 record.
Taylor was given more of an opportunity to play after joining the Kings. He appeared in 26 contests (eight starts) and amassed 7.1 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 1.2 APG and 0.5 SPG in 15.6 MPG. Thanks to an injury to starter Tyreke Evans, Taylor had a chance to start seven consecutive games where he averaged 13.0 PPG on 52.1% shooting and 3.0 RPG in 26.8 MPG.
After the end of the '10-'11 season, the Kings waived Taylor in the offseason. The final two years of Taylor's contract were team options and non-guaranteed if he was waived by August 1.
Taylor went on to sign with the Liaoning Flying Leopards of the Chinese Basketball Association during the 2011 NBA lockout. He returned to the D-League and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in 2012 after the lockout ended.
The second round pick Houston acquired from Sacramento was conditional and heavily protected. Though no media outlets said specifics of the protections, Pro Sports Transactions says the pick was top-55 protected. Either way, the pick was never conveyed to the Rockets.
Tumblr media
Jermaine Taylor on joining the Kings (via Kings.com):
"I'm excited to be here. I hope to get playing time and show people what I can do. I don't think I really got a fair chance in Houston, but hopefully it changes here, and I get an opportunity."
On his reaction when he heard he was traded (via Kings.com):
"I feel really good. I think I have a chance to get to play here. I'm excited about the opportunity, and I'm ready to get started."
On the qualities he brings to Sacramento:
"I'm a scorer. I can definitely get out and run in transition. I get in the paint and find guys, but mostly, scoring—that's my strength."
On his impressions of the city of Sacramento:
"I haven't really done too much yet, since it's been raining. I've been driving around, and I like it. The city is nice and quiet—kind of similar to where I;m from back home in Central Florida."
How he attacks the basket and his style of play:
"I play above the rim. Plays like dunks get me going, so I'm trying to dunk everything. If I get on the fast break, I'm going to dunk. I'm trying to look for that highlight-reel play all the time."
On the differences between Sacramento and Houston:
"It's a little bit different, but I think this is a talented team with a lot of good players. We have a lot more games left, and I'm going to work as hard as I can to help turn it around."
Paul Westphal on what Taylor brings to Sacramento (via Kings.com):
"We have a lot more to learn about Jermaine, but he plays hard and is very athletic. He has a nose for getting the shot, and he's known as being a scorer."
Kings forward Carl Landry on Taylor (via The Daily Freeman):
"He's one of the best scorers on Earth. Jermaine Taylor, he's going to be a great addition to this team."

I visited the world where Gerard Way was visiting family in Minneapolis on 9/11 so he kept his Cartoon Network job instead of becoming a musician.
It's pretty similar to ours. He didn't go into cartoons as you might expect, but he is way more famous in the comic book world.
As for butterfly effects, MCR doesn't exist, so Twilight doesn't exist, which means 50 Shades of Grey doesn't exist. I couldn't find any references to Stephenie Meyer or E. L. James, so either they didn't go into writing or they didn't use those same pen names.
Robert Pattinson was in Harry P*tter and then mainly independent stuff from then on out.
Kristen Stewart is somehow a bigger star than in this world? She was in Red Revenge, 2012 Soviet film about WW3 happening in the 60s and then in the 80s the survivors come over to the US to find out of anything survives of the cowardly US leadership that started the war. (yes, they shoot Reagan. He's out of his mind and it's shot like Old Yeller). She's been in a lot of USSR films since then, as this greatly raised her profile.
Taylor Lautner seems to have become a writer instead of an actor. He wrote one of the later seasons of Firefly, after it went all season-long-arcs. He technically cameo'd in season 6 but it was just as a guy who ran a casino station. He had like three lines, two of which were "get off my station!" and "guards!"
I didn't see any real differences in the music world. Sometimes you take out a band or form a super-group with interdimensional exploration, and it changes the whole field. Like if you take out Nirvana the 90s look very different, or if you help the Back Road Boys form then the 2010s are all about the retro-country revival. Anyway: MCR, as good a band as they are, don't appear to be one of those "linchpin" bands that affect the whole musical landscape.
BTW, the weirdest one of those? Michael Fucking Jackson. He's a super influential musician, inspired so many others, the king of pop, right? NOPE! If his music career is skipped, then it only affects his siblings and the one hit wonder "Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell.
Strange, right? There's more downstream time effects on the music industry from taking out David Hasselhoff!

recently for a sociology unit in one of my college classes, we were assigned to read your short story "Changes." what was your inspiration for this? has the message or your opinion on it changed since you wrote it? would you choose to take the pill? what if you had to in order to save your life?
as a nonbinary person, this is such an interesting concept, one i sometimes wish were real. given the choice, i would take it recreationally, but sparingly and with great caution.
none of these questions are related to work for the course, just my genuine curiosity.
thank you for reading this, even if you never respond. your writing is so fascinating. please keep being your incredible self. i am patiently waiting for the next seasons of your shows :)
I love that this story has gained a new life. Nobody seemed to notice it or comment on it when it was originally published, then I got people being upset about it circa 2010, and then about eight years ago people rediscovered it and started using it as a thought experiment, which is what it is.
In some ways I think of it as a novel I didn't write.
My inspiration was probably mostly being around a lot of friends in the 80s who pushed gender boundaries, and looking at society and wondering what it would take to dismantle the entire concept of gender. Or it was reading Ursula Le Guin's The Left Hand of Darkness when I was 11.
