Todays been awful so fuck it, IT fandom unpopular opinions! (And they're actually unpopular for once!).

-As much as I hate to say this, I think getting mad at people for not liking Mike Hanlon is shifting the blame from who's really at fault for this and that's Andi Muschietti. Yeah it sucks that Mike is always forgotten by this fandom but this fandom is dominated of fans of the movie and the movie and book are totally different. If some 13 year old has only seen the IT movies I don't blame them for not caring about Mike because he got dicked over by Andi's racial bias. And don't say "well they should watch the mini series or book to appreciate him then" as if being in a fandom is supposed to require homework. A lot of people only like IT 2017 and that's fine, and they're not less of a fan for that. It's okay to not like certain members of the losers, as long as your reasons are valid.

-I wish fanfiction would potray Sonia and Eddie's relationship (and honestly Sonia/Myra) with more depth. I am NOT saying Sonia isn't abusive, she absolutely is, but i have seen A LOT of ridiculous portrayals of Sonia and it bugs me. Even good fic writers often pigeon hole her relationship with Eddie to just being him secretly hating every thing about her with no complicated feelings at all. As someone who grew up in an abusive household, majority of abusive relationships aren't like that. That's why abusive relationships are so sinister in the first place, they're hard to get out of because you convince yourself you love your abuser. Most kids, especially heavily manipulated ones like Eddie, would struggle with feeling pure hatred for their mother. And that's interesting! I wanna see that portrayed in Eddie's character, especially since he struggles with his own identity and feelings about himself quite a lot already. If you cannot handle a portrayal of an abusive relationship being more than just two dimensional awfullness 24/7, i don't think you should be reading something as heavy as IT.

-Similarly, the way people talk about Sonia, Myra, and to a lesser extent Belch is really gross. IT actually condemns fatphobia in the narrative by having Henry attack ben, and i see people complain all the time about how ben lost wait as an adult but suddenly when it's Myra, Sonia and Belch you can fat shame to your hearts content. I have seen so many posts from people, either roleplay accounts or otherwise, calling these three fat bitches or hogs or even fanfics that deliberatly use Sonia's weight as short hand for her being terrible instesd of letting her actions speak for herself. Fat shaming isn't suddenly cool when it happens to someone you hate. Molly Ranson is a real person and that is her real body, there are probably people in this fandom who even LOOK like Sonia out there. This also applies to insulting the appearance of any other actor btw.

-I think Ben Hanscom in the it 2017 continuity is honestly kind of a creep. He kisses Bev while she's unconcious depsite not actually knowing if it'll pull her out of the deadlights (he didn't even have a reason to think it would work at all), he holds onto her yearbook signature in his wallet for 27 years even tho he literally forgot everything, spends most of IT chapter 2 coping and seething that Bev isn't attracted to him, and never says anything to defend her from Richie spreading slutty rumors about her. The only time he defends her from slut accusations is when its henry and shes there to see him do it. If Henry did any of this you guys would be all over him, but because it's Ben and they play sappy music over it it's suddenly cute and whimsical.

-I also think Richie gets away with a lot of shit that if it was done by any of the antagonists the fandom would rip 'em to shreds. People give me shit all the time for sympathizing with Henry Bowers becaude he's racist and mysoginistic but Richie says many mysoginistic and racist things across adaptations and nobody cares. Of course he spreads rumors about Bevs promiscuity, but in the book he does quite a few racist impressions and bits like when he says "You know the worst part about getting AIDS? Trying to explain to your mother that you got it from a Haitian girl.". Hell, at least Henry is 12, practically groomed into it, and so mushy brained from the pills he can't think straight, what's richies excuse? I don't even care that Richie is gay, does being in the closet justify anything? Did being attracted to Henry absolve Patrick of the fact he killed a baby? No? The same goes for Richie. Ofc you can still like him, but i don't like it when richie fans act like he's all pure and ignore his worse moments just to grand stand.

-It 2017 is actually just as ewwy towards minors as the book. Just because you removed a gang bang scene doesn't mean you aren't still weird with minors. Mr. Muschietti still thought it was appropriate to make a scene where young Bev is forced to flirt with a pedo pharmacist, another where she gets kissed unconscious, and one where her friends oggle her in a bra. Yeah it's cool you got rid of the sewer stuff but WHY ADD ALL OF THAT IN.

-The whole "omg what if the ritual was going to work but richie had to sacrifice eddie as his token instead and thats why it didnt work" is kinda dumb. it implies that the native americans who created the god damn artifact couldn't do the ritual right but these random white guys could all along. The movie straight up says the ritual has never worked and Mike saying he believed it would work because of their connection is treated like it's wrong. Maybe Eddie was Richies token but I don't think that's why they defeated IT and I also don't think it would have worked to begin with.

Mega Man 1 was the first game in the series, introducing us to the now-iconic hero. Mega Man 2 is a refinement of the formula, possibly the most beloved of the franchise. Mega Man 3 introduced a cool robot dog with all sorts of abilities! And Mega Man 4?

Eddie

I love Eddie, of course! Why wouldn't I? He's a little guy, a little robot guy. But you have to admit he is funny as a character. Eddie is basically a container with legs. He shows up to give you an Item. But this is a video game! The realm where Items abound naturally! They could have just put the item on the ground or something. But they DIDN'T, you see. They made it a whimsical little guy, and that's always the way to go!

He's really just such a little guy. Look at that guy! He's a good fellow! I've never actually played a game with Eddie in it. I just like him. If I didn't know about him before playing the game, though, I'm sure I would instinctively think he was an enemy! He doesn't look threatening, sure, but Mega Man enemies are always cute. He just wants to share a gift, but it would be easy to assume he's trying to share a bomb, or something. Which he does sometimes toss out of himself in other appearances, making him a bit more involved in the action!

But I think I quite like how he's such a non-action bot. He's here to transport objects, and he's doing it the best he can. If we could ever play as Eddie, it would not be exciting one bit. And it shouldn't be! That just wouldn't be eddy (adjective meaning "like Eddie"). He's not just a glorified suitcase, mind you- he is able to teleport things through himself. He's cool! I swear! Have I mentioned I love that his name is Eddie? My little pal Edward who is made of pixels.

Eddie has kind of a weird existence! Just like Mega Man (and lots of the other robots) he was made by Dr. Light, but was not completed, and sent to help anyway. After this, he was never "retrieved"... was he abandoned? That would be messed up! Eddie has feelings! Maybe he just wandered off and did his own thing, of his own volition? That's probably it. Independent Eddie. He doesn't have to listen to you, DAD!

Eddie is often seen hanging out with fellow funny robot Auto, and they seem to be best friends. Perhaps even more...? Whatever their exact relationship, they are that classic style of Big And Little Guy Duo. I hope they call each other Big Buddy and Little Buddy.

Anti-Eddie is the opposite of Eddie, of course! He's Bad! And he will not give you things. He will take them! Pursue the prize, lest the purple purloiner peel out! "It took them all the way until Mega Man 11 to make Anti-Eddie, but I think we can agree it was well worth the wait," I say as if I or anyone in the world was ever patiently waiting for an evil version of Eddie to exist. But I can never be upset with more Eddie, even if it is a bad guy! Anti-Eddie's Japanese name is Waru Eddie. And you, Mario fan reading this, get a kick out of that for sure!

Hazel is absolutely obsessed with the tiny desk concert look and I agree because OH MY GODS. Hazel loves the layering of the hair, and that there's a trash bag in Chappells hair. Her favorite part about the whole outfit is the socks but the little butterfly clip in Chappells hair is so cute to Hazel.

Blitz absolutely adore the pink pony club outfit from chappells performance on snl. The seamless white dress that sparkles and looks like literal heaven is something that can't be hated by someone who loves fashion as much as blitz does. He loves the stripe of white in chappells wig and the bow on the side of her waist. Really the whole outfit is incredibly and he will not hesitate to tell you 

Georgie likes this look from either one of chappells tours or from when she opened for Olivia Rodrigo I cant remember but she loves the tassels (?) and the shininess and everything about it. This is the outfit an 8 year old would adore

Alabasters fav is this magician look from a photo shoot that I can't the remember the name of. Maybe a little cliche but shush

Ethan's favorite is this incredibly look that I have no idea what to call or where it's from. All I know is that Chappell is serving all sorts of things and Ethan agrees with me okay I'm literally Rick himself 

Shels favorite is the snl look but without the hat. She likes the waist pieces she says they look like butterflies and she really likes the slick back look of her hair and then the curls messy in the back. It's a vibe. 

Sams favorite is the look Chappell had on Sabrina carpenters Christmas special A Nonsense Christmas. There's two pics because I absolutely adore this look. She's so elegant wtf.

Lavinias favorite is the dress Chappell had on when she was invited to perform with Olivias Rodrigo at one of her concerts. It's pink it's flowery it's sparkly, what more could you ask for? 

Cecil would've tried to recreate this makeup look and he would've failed miserably. The tights really pull this outfit together. The neck ruffle, the flowers in her hair. Cecil loves everything about it.  

Calypsos favorite look is the Marie ann look with the wig because a) it absolutely eats and even this 6000 year old girl can recognize an icon and b) calypsos a sucker for the flower embroidery on the front 

Gwen would've loved this like I don't know anything about her but she feels like the kinda gal to be obsessed with marriage culture and not in a "I wanna get married and have a big beautiful wedding" way I mean a "I know every aspect of this, good and bad, and am willing to be the backbone of the failing society" way 

Rip Lou Ellen you would've loved kaleidoscope. Rick can you give Lou a book and then make her a tragic lesbian I would love that please and thank you. Also the freaking star clips in this outfit are fiahkajda. Btw this is chappells kaleidoscope outfit and yes it's lous fav and it's beautiful. 

paolos fav is the angel look. Basic? maybe. but stunning? yes

Zoes fav is this blue cowboy look. It's shiny and she likes the color blue. Also the sparkles kinda look like stars... whoa who said that whattt

Bianca's fav is this wonderful look that is glitching and the backgrounds gone my phone is about to explode I apologize. The detail on this is insane. The tassels hanging from every end, the points and curves that really give it that alternative and crazy look. Rip Bianca you wouldve loved the subway.  

Dionysus but Mr D specifically. He's a queer icon and he loves the other queer icons as well. This outfit from the guts would tour film premiere is his favorite  because of many reason. First is the red mesh the entire dress is made off. Chappells whole red aesthetic really does remind me of red wine and shit and also I'm just grasping for ways to connect this to Mr d so bear with me. Also the flowers on the dress are so freaking pretty usgajfjwhwh love those. The black boots contrast great with the rest of the outfit and I know Mr d would like that detail. Also the fact that her tits are almost out. yes Dionysus wouldve love you yes Chappell get it girl I love you

Junipers fav is this one and I also don't know where it's from. It's a simpler outfit than others but it's so adorable and juniper would love chappells aesthetic okay like juniper would be the biggest fan of California I just KNOW

Ranking the promotional inklings/octolings by how much I like their outfits: Splatoon 1

Kaori:

Studio Headphones / White Tee / Pink Trainers

A simple black/white t-shirt + headphones combo alongside some aggressively pink shoes

The neutral colors of the top half of the outfit work really well to let the shoes and hair pop, which is important given that she was our first introductions to the inklings as character designs.

The only thing I can dock this outfit points for is being pretty basic, but that's also kind of the point. I'd personally prefer something with a bit more pop, but it's kind of unassailable.

4/5. She's iconic for a reason.

John:

Pilot Goggles / Zink Layered LS / Purple Hi-Horses

Similar to Kaori this is primarily a neutral outfit that puts the emphasis on the colorful shoes.

That said I like this one less than Kaori's. It's a little bit busier and the shoes don't pop as much given their darker purple tone.

Also I just don't like the Hi-Horses very much, sorry.

3/5. I can't be too harsh on him because the fit is meant to be basic, but I don't think it comes together as anything more than just Kaori's outfit but worse.

Mizuho:

Bobble Hat / Green Zip Hoodie / Moto Boots

Nice natural colors give this 'fit am active, outdoorsy look.

I like the big boots on a sniper's outfit. It makes her feel grounded and stable.

The big bobble hat is also a slightly disarming feature, it makes a bit cute, and given that she's a sniper I think she'd read as a much more serious person if she wore something more self-serious like sunglasses.

4/5. I just think this one is really good.

Retro Specs / Baby-Jelly Shirt / Blue Slip-Ons

This 'fit flips the script the promotional characters have followed so far, really drawing your eyes to the polka dot shirt compared to the glasses and the single-color shoes.

The combination of the patterned button-down, the big boxy glasses, and the shorts (not that you had any other legwear choices in Splatoon 1) gives the outfit a vibe that to me feels straight-laced and whimsical all at once.

He has the energy of a stoic office worker with some very eccentric fashion choices.

3/5. I don't think it's very cohesive, but I can't bring myself to dislike it. It's got a lot of charm.

Takoroka Mesh / Black Squideye / White Kicks

Another really simple fit, just a cap, a t-shirt, and a pair of shoes.

The cap gives this outfit major tomboy energy to me, and I really quite enjoy that.

The little bits of red and pink on the otherwise solid white and black of the shoes and shirt actually do a lot of lifting here, providing the whole outfit a disproportionate amount of energy.

5/5. This one is really simple but I really think it has a ton of character.

Another primarily neutral outfit, though this time with a pretty ostentatious piece of headwear.

I actually kind of like the shirt and shoes together, but that's about it. I really feel like the mask clashes with the rest of the outfit here.

There is nothing intrinsically wrong with the mask, of course, but I simply don't think it does anything with the other clothing here.

Exam season has just begun for you. For the past two weeks, you’ve been stressing about your upcoming tests. First, it was two theology exams. Then, your marketing professor announced there would be an exam as well. And to top it all, your accounting and management professors decided they’d put in quizzes right before the exam day. You’d given up on sleep, rationalizing that studying is more important than sleep, and your boyfriend wished to take all your stress away. He'd been cheering you on, Now that it was Saturday though, he had the opportunity to pull you away from your books and notes, to simply relax for a few hours.

“Honey! Are you ready?” Anton’s voice called through the house, as you touched up your hair. It wasn’t that you hadn’t been on a date in forever, but you still get flustered around your boyfriend. After a year of dating, he still makes you blush and have butterflies. That adrenaline rush of being blissfully in love that leaves you stuttering over your words. Fluffing your outfit, you walk down the hallway, making sure to grab your camera.

“I’m coming! Where are we headed anyway? You didn’t tell me.” Smiling, he laces his fingers in yours. It wasn’t like him to not tell you, but you didn’t mind surprises either. The walk from your shared apartment to the mall wasn’t long, the sun shining down on the two of you as Anton laced his fingers between yours.

The mall was filled with chatter, the low sound of pop music could be heard through the many ceiling speakers. You squeeze your boyfriend's hand, happily smiling up at him. He looks down, swearing that you are an angel on earth. Out of the corner of your eye, you notice a photo booth. However, to your surprise, there isn't a long line, or anyone wanting to go to the booth itself. Tugging at Anton's jacket, you excitedly point towards the booth.

"Let's go get some photos! Y'know, immortalize the moment." You giggle between your words, already thinking about all the cute poses you guys will do with each other. Pulling back the curtain of the booth, you step in squealing excitedly when you see that there are props for the pictures. "Ahhh this will be so cute!!" You pick up a giraffe headband and glasses far too whimsically big for either of you. He takes the headband from your hands, gently placing it on your head. Noticing heart glasses on the prop table, he picks it up, putting it on before flashing his iconic smile at you. The kind of smile that made you melt inside and fall for him even more.

Anton chuckles lightly, eyes flicking down at your soft, glossy lips. He sighs contentedly, pulling you in by the waist for an almost kiss. His breath fanned over your mouth before he pulled away to look at you fully, " Aren't you just the cutest giraffe?"

You giggle, smacking him lightly, turning towards the screen. "You love this giraffe!" He rolls his eyes, forcing himself to not focus on how plump your lips looked as you spoke, and instead on the flashing start button in front of the two of you. "Perhaps it'd be helpful if we clicked start, love." Pouting slightly, you laugh, leaning forward to click the button. The screen changes, giving you the countdown for pictures. He knew that you were right, he did love you, and even more, as you practiced making silly faces at the camera.

3...2...1. The camera flashed as you squished your cheeks against Anton's, his heart glasses nearly falling off his nose as he smiled ear to ear. You were grateful for the short pause between the takes, as you admired your boyfriend adjusting his glasses. Hurriedly reaching for the prop table, he takes the glasses off, grabbing a pink cowboy hat before placing it on his head. He knew he looked good in the hat, judging from how you were now avoiding any type of eye contact with him.

The screen again displayed the numbers, signaling to you that the picture would be taken soon. You bring your arms above your head to make a heart pose and your boyfriend, getting the hint, puts his arms up in a half-heart to complete the shape. The camera once again flashes, but your boyfriend wasn’t looking at the camera, rather he was looking at you. Something about the way your eyes sparkled every time you were with him, how your smile seemed to light up his entire world, it made his heart burst in his chest.

"Should we kiss for our next photo?" You quickly turn your head, eyes widening at your boyfriend's suggestion. It wasn't that you were embarrassed but you didn't expect him to suggest it to you. His deep brown eyes were fixated on your lips, and you knew that you only had a few seconds before the camera would flash again.

“Why not?” You say it so quickly, noticing how he poked his tongue out to lightly lick his lips in anticipation. Deciding it was now or never, you place your hands on his shirt, pulling him closer to you. The distance between the two of you closes as he darts his eyes from your lips to your eyes, the world around you starting to slow down as your lips connect. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw the flash of the camera, but the feeling of your boyfriend’s hand on your cheek forced your attention back on him. He kissed you gently, yet fervently as though you were the only meal he’d had in his entire life. You pull away, panting softly as you catch your breath, heat rising to your cheeks. The sound of the pop music through the speakers was faint, but it reminded you that you were in the mall. The camera screen changes, a notification telling you that your photos were finished. A slot opens, your photos falling out as Anton quickly grabs them. There were two of each, and a small smile grew on his face as he noticed the last photo.

“It came out so cute!” You giggle with happiness at how well each photo turned out, as you took off the headband, placing it back on the prop table. He grabs the hat, taking it off as well, a large smile on his face.

You grab your purse and your boyfriend’s hand to leave the booth. He laughs with you, eyes crinkling as he teases, “Don’t worry, you’ll get more kisses later, love.”

Shocked. the first time he sees you flying??? oh my god he's on a wrecked emotion!! he doesnt know how to feel honestly, but its also brings the kidself out in him. he was just overwhelmed by the fact that he's just see a fairy with a fawn ears flying literally right in front of him!!, so after he sees you, you went run from him and so you dissapear. his kid self that was out before is feeling kinda sad and neglected by the fact that you're gone :( but his adult self is kinda not believing what he was just witness, like ghost, the adult self him kinda thinks that maybe he's just hallucinating. but unlike ghost, the next day, he's going to go to that place where he met you just because 1.) the adult him wants to be confirmed by your existence and 2.) Selkie! Regulus and Fisherman! Remus... they live rent free in my head. Like Regulus just has such selkie beauty, yknow? Otherworldly and something you’ll never truly, fully tame or own despite wedding but still delicate and perfect. And Remus is just so creaky little village folklore protagonist it’s honestly hilarious, yes this man lives in a routine until he’s gray and literally can’t anymore with his air of mystery and calloused hands but distinctly kind eyes. Match made in stories told under the stars around campfires if you ask me.

Ok so I think this au could be imagined two ways. 1, Remus meets human regulus first and 2, Remus meets seal regulus first. Both go differently but are both very fun.

So number 1 would be classic tumblr fantasy. Regulus is a beautiful stranger who keeps to himself and showed up almost out of thin air in the misty fishing town in Wales that Remus lives in. Regulus is so new and beautiful he can’t help but catch the eye. I imagine Remus sees him for the first time when Regulus is out on the beach, just watching the water, and Remus is coming down the dock to go home for the night. It’s late and quiet besides the waves of the sea, dark besides the light of the moon, and this stranger could almost be mistaken for a ghost with how the pale rays bounce off their skin and perfectly white coat they have draped just past their shoulders. He leaves them be because it’s late and he’s not creepy. He sees them again at the only local bookstore, sat at one of the only desks in the small shop with a few books piled next to them and their manicured fingers turning the aged pages of the book they had open. Again, Remus just can’t look away. Their curls are loose around their face and they keep having to tuck them behind their ears, which are pierced with shiny pearl earrings. Their eyes are intently focused and strikingly pale blue and Remus only realizes he’s been staring when he realizes those eyes are on him now. He flushes and stumbles over his words to try and apologize but the stranger doesn’t seem perturbed, they say it’s alright and they were leaving anyway. Remus wonders how long he’d really been just watching them because they seem farther in their book when they close it and they knock the coat he remembers them wearing the other night off the back of the chair they were sitting on when they reach for a bookmark. Remus picks it up for them, since it’s the least he can do, and hands it back while they gather their things. Except they’ve stopped gathering their things because now their entrancing eyes are wide and staring at him with blown pupils and awe. Remus doesn’t understand and is still embarrassed from before, so he gets them to take their coat and rushes off. He meets them again when they appear at his door a few days later with a ring and a fierce blush as they explain that it’s unfair to only be married the human way, and oh dear god what has Remus gotten himself into.

Very silly, much shenanigans, very cute I think.

The second is more whimsical. Remus is out late fishing, maybe fell asleep earlier that night out of sheer exhaustion from work or other and is now waking up far past his usual docking time. He’s groggy and delirious when he sees a glowing white light in the water. He thinks he’s dreaming when it’s head pokes out and it’s a seal. Remus doesn’t know if seals should be in this water but he does know they shouldn’t be glowing. The seal coos and swims for a little before disappearing and leaving Remus wondering if it was even real as he sails back to the docks. But he’s assured it was when he sees the seal more and more over the next few months. He becomes more and more familiar with it, more delighted to see it. He talks to his mother about it one day and she immediately tells him he’s seen a selkie, because she’s superstitious like that, and he doesn’t really believe her at first but it becomes undeniable as the weeks turn to months and the seal gets more and more friendly with him. Eventually culminating in Remus probably hearing his selkie’s song from human tongue for the first time, and seeing that form to boot.

Man falling for a folktale and a folktale falling for a man. Very fairytale, very wondrous, very ‘true loves kiss’ vibe.

But also I lied and there’s a third option that’s sort of an off shoot of two. Werewolf Remus meets seal regulus first.

Remus spends his moons as a werewolf by the water, near rocky caves where no one dare venture at night. The waves calm the monster and he doesn’t out anyone in danger out here. He’s used to coming here with not much to remember the next morning but then one day he remembers almost a dreamlike memory of his wolf padding down to the water and meeting a glowing... fish? Hm, strange. But Moony remembers it perfectly every moon and starts to view the magical seal as its friend, chasing it along the shoreline and bumping snouts with it and stuff. As moony grows fond of the ‘fish’ Remus remembers its existence more, and since he’s literally a werewolf in this idea he stomaches the idea of selkies pretty easily and realizes he’s probably visiting a selkie every moon and goes back on nights it’s not the moon to maybe see it with human eyes. The seal is wary of the human form since it doesn’t know if only the wolf means no harm but quickly learns Remus is nice too and reveals itself as human too rather easily. The human forms connect just as quickly as the animal forms did and their love is so much more intimate since they understand like literally no one else what it’s like to be an adjacent human with animal needs and such.

Literally their most primal halves meeting and falling first, folklore on folklore romance, ‘lets be otherworldly together’ type of vibe. Immaculate, adorable, also I just like including Moony in moonwater fics.

what is your favorite final fantasy? Plz and thanks

oh god this is such a hard question... my gut instinct is to say FFX because it loomed so unbelievably large in my childhood and still does to this day. the world building and style is still completely unprecedented and set a really high standard in my mind for what a final fantasy world should be and the characters are (mostly) all really lovable and fleshed out. typically id probably not be a big fan of a character like tidus as the mc but i think he's silly and endearing. unsurprisingly an MC with daddy issues works on me.

needless to say im obsessed with the women in FFX and to spare everyone the wall of text ill just say yuna is still like. one of the best FF characters of all time for many reasons. and do i even need to explain why i love lulu? it's a shame she canonically settled for the chaser instead of being the girl road trip mom in FFX-2 but i can almost forgive that with how wonderful the rest of X-2 is if you're a girl lover.

it's genuinely probably tied with FFIX for me in terms of like, what comes to mind when somebody says final fantasy. it's two sides of the same coin. the more sci-fi heavy fantasy and the more whimsical traditional fantasy. the style of FFIX is immaculate, the characters are all extremely lovable, and the story is genuinely really good. everything is so chunky and cute it feels like you're playing a game set in a world full of dolls. it's one of the few things that still has that childlike sense of wonder and mystery for me funnily enough. just looking at the cover reminds me of staring at it in video rental stores and trying to imagine how cool and exciting it was.

people often call it a celebration of FF's past and it feels more like an evolution to me. cute whimsical storybook world with an ensemble cast that gets plenty of love in a style unlike anything else in the series (besides maybe crystal chronicles?) that stands on its own. i wish we'd get more FF stuff in that style but having that one gem is nice too. also im obviously normal about freya and that whole plotline...

honourable mentions to the obviously unstoppable FFVII and the underrated FFVIII and the very beloved to me FFXII and unfairly maligned FFXIII series of games and even FFXI and FFXIV. The BAM Boys (Bamboozlers now but they're BAM Boys in my heart) continue to be a SSS+ tier alliance. I love how quickly they've become Grian/Mumbo/Skizz's shitty horrible upstairs neighbour.

THE PARROTS ARE REALLY CUTE AND REALLY AWESOME. Very very excited to see what the avian headcanon and canary symbolism people are going to do with that.

I can't wait for Jimmy's POV from the looks of it he's. such a little shit this session. Which is good these are signs of a happy Jimmy. The part where they box him in while he's AFK is really cute to me and I know this is probably on the more insane side of the scale for me but I can't help but read it as Jimmy having an episode of some sort and Scar and Lizzie making sure he's okay until he recovers.

And I won't lie watching Scar punch Scott even if it was just for silliness was just the slightest bit satisfying.

Lizzie is a bit. odd to me because she seems to have adapted the same mindset as alot of other people in assuming incompetence on Jimmy and Scar's part.

I ☝️think her saying she's the best survivalist out of the group is more a reflection of her being insecure in her own abilities than her genuinely thinking of them as liabilities. Don't get me wrong she is a crucial member of the Jimmy Ecosystem and thus very much subscribes to that hierarchical set of beliefs But she's been conscious in the past of her own shortcomings and I don't think it's like? Something that necessarily actually bothers her in the way Skizz and Mumbo worry Grian to death.

Plus she spent her episode building parrots (which are awesome) -- she's just overall a much more whimsical personality and I think the "best survivalist" stuff is more another example of her performative nature coming in akin to when she plays sitcom wife or manipulative seductress with Joel. After all the "only brain cell" is a very. The Girl One role that pops up and literally like the first time she implies her teammates are incompetent is her "surrounded by idiots" line that she's saying about a bit SHE LITERALLY STARTED ‼️

So like TLDR I don't think Lizzie is like. genuinely malicious towards her teammates she's just very performative. What she says is still very wrong and might reflect badly on her teammates, though.

(side note I remember at the end of SL there was a bit of discourse surrounding the way people talked about Scar's win and people were especially not accepting of posts that implied Grian's 1v3 or Pearl's previous win had anything to do with him winning because it also implied Scar's win wasn't all due to his skill. and I can't help but wonder how those guys must feel now lmao I'm so sorry)

I really hope the sub ones/floaters/spanners just keep switching team names like every single episode. Would be nuclear for the tagging system but it would be really funny.

Mumbo being self-aware of his own paranoia wasn't something I saw coming and I find it very interesting. I'm not a Mumbo guy he's more or less a silly cartoon animal to me but I'm sure a Mumbohead could have a field day with that one. His reaction to Tango killing Skizz and his pathetically desperate attempts at revenge afterwards are also extremely. Something. (hilarious to watch but. Something)

Grian and Mumbo are both really funny to me when they're in a certain state of emotional distress, specifically Grian when he's annoyed and Mumbo when he's panicking and there is. Alot of that this episode. By far one of the funniest POVs for me.

Skizz oh poor Skizz. If this was 3L he would be OUT. REALLY excited to see where the thing he has going on with Tango will lead (usually I try not to comment on the CC side of things but I must say it is really sweet to me that these two are good enough friends that Tango, socially anxious as he is, can do that).

Nothing much to say about Joel from me this episode I hope his car is okay after that wild animal chewed on its tires.

Gem though is interesting. Not to get to into The Horrors in this post because I want to save most of them for Their Post but her conversation with Pearl is and later Scott is? Fascinating me a bit.

I very much do see the comparison to DL Pearl's naivete regarding past alliances sticking but Gem is? Very abrasive and the wording she uses to Scott is that he needs to "control" Pearl specifically which is!! A very strange thing to say when her whole thing with Pearl was celebrating Scarlet Pearl.

Again not claiming to be a Gem understander so don't look at me but it feels like to me these are the consequences of her idol worship illusion being shattered similar to how she used to treat Etho with the "washed up" stuff. I want to say of course she sides with her previous ally Scott regarding Pearl but she tells Etho to steal from "Pearl and Scott and stuff" near the end of the episode so it seems more like. Her being antagonistic to that alliance as a whole? Honestly not sure what to make of it, will need more episodes but this is intriguing this is fun. This is fun. I'm sorry gempearl girlies.

This one is good this one is fascinating. So first off other people have pointed out them lacking a leader and Skizz's absence which is totally cool I'm so not emotion about that.

But we're just? Going full mask off. Bdubs is pulling a Liauditore and questioning the importance of the concept of an alliance itself in these games which I, being Liauditore, can judge as the objectively correct thing to do, based of Bdubs, swear ALL this shit off don't ask me questions.

Usual ethubs shenanigans are ensuing. I don't really know how to put that in a better way but they are full force ethubs rn.

One interaction I found interesting with Bdubs are his conversation with Scar and Tango when Scar asks Bdubs if he should let the name-ever-changing-grian-mumbo-skizz alliance kill Tango and Bdubs is kinda like. Ehhhhhdhkldhhkkkkjj 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ about it. But when Scar leaves Bdubs he goes straight to Tango and just says the word "VENGEANCE" in his goofy scary voice before Martyn interrupts them.

Like. It feels as though? Now that we're all in the open about Not being loyal or whatever to eachother, the relationship with Tango is? Relatively better. Then again saying you don't expect eachother to be loyal is not the same as actually being emotionally okay with that and it'll be fun to see how much b-dgaf-dubs stays as b-dgaf-dubs. But again I think establishing expectations is good and a lot more healthy than what Some Other Alliances are doing.

For all the Pearl angst we've been bouncing back and forth I've seen nobody bring up his interaction with her this episode where he approaches her to poison her and when she falls for it Bdubs immediately goes "No. I can't." and admits what he was trying to do. It's very cute. (mounders I'll love you forever). Bdubs cares her.

Also I think I might be a level of cooked that Bdubs goofily singing little mermaid made my brain go ding ding. Idk. the gay agenda, I guess.

Tango is fucking insane someone check on him. Why did he eat that tire. Why did he eat Skizzleman.

But real talk that kill was kind of awesome I love non-conventional kills and people finding ways to kill that are more adaptive to their individual strengths than just brute forcing pvp. I love a good pvp fight don't get me wrong but that sort of kill through using his smarts feels so much more. Tango than if he pulled off an insane sword combo out of nowhere or something as awesome as that would be. Reminds me a bit of Lizzie farming her fireworks crossbows in LL but on a way smaller scale.

Also wasn't sure if I should say this here or in the BAM section but Tango floating away into the distance panicked but giggling is so funny when paired with Jimmy's POV where he's going OH NO TANGO TANGO OH HE'S DEAD I'VE KILLED HIM HE'S GONNA HATE ME ETC ETC. Jimmy he.. Jimmy he Does Not care.

Anyway I love this version of Tango I hope he stays. I hope he murders Bdubs.

Etho is Etho. No more gravel pranks thank god. His fearful reaction to Joel's "family" comment is so funny I could see the LimL flashbacks beam out of his skull when he nervously asks about family dinners.

I'm not a gemtho guys by any means but her giving him an allium and him putting it in a pot to "protect" it surely means something. It's very sweet to me.

Bdubs' comment about it smth smth "as soon as you put value in something..." with the other half of that being implied to be something like "other people will try to destroy/steal it" is. quite something as well. really neat lampshading of this group's overall dilemma so far (if you don't value an alliance, you won't lose it, you can't lose out on value that you never place in anything).

This is also inspired by Lasers and Feelings, but rather than manufactured dragons, you’re just babies, and you’re more likely to cause trouble than prevent it. Okay, so here's how we're getting Hiyori and Midori in the second half of Egoist cross scout.

The first half is Immature which features Tori, Aira and Leo. Fitting, as they can be immature sometimes too. Part two is Childish.

Hiyori and Midori do act childish from time to time too. See; Hiyori's demands with Jun and Midori being lazy about attending Ryuseitai practice (Midori's laziness was more prevalent in ! era, but he still shows this side sometimes too)

Hiyori is also due for a 5*, his last being from White Bear scout, which was from last December 14, 2023. Midori is also due for a 4*, his last from The Blink of the Eye and Exhibition from March 3, 2024. Not exactly that due, but still in need of a new 4* card.

Would this just be Whimsical City Rider part 2 if that's the case? Perhaps, but it's also one of the best stories there, so I wouldn't exactly be against it. Plus, I'll always eat up any content about my units anyways ;)

Also please consider Hiyori with those cute little horns, he would look so good in them.

Dinner Date

Chapter 2

“Don’t just gulp it down,” Wi.ng chided whimsically. “This engex is to be enjoyed.”

“Ah, if you’re not supposed to drink it, how are you to enjoy it?” Br.awl paused with the glass nearly to his lips.

“Use your senses.” The red and white flyer lifted the glass and gently swirled it. “I rather enjoy its distinctive earthy and spicy smell.” The glass was brought to his nose, and a deep whiff was taken. “Reminds me of late-night dinner celebrations with Di.a At.las back in New Cry.stal City.”

“Hmm…” Bra.wl imitated the other, swirling his drink gently before sticking his nose over the top. He snorted. “Kinda smells like pencil shavings and cherries to me.”

“That’s an interesting way to describe it. Now, have a taste, but just a sip.”

“So, why are the glasses so large and shaped funny?” The Combat.icon pressed the glass to his lips and tilted. The deep red liquid ran across his lips and onto his tongue, filling his mouth with a bold, oaky flavor. While rather intense, the taste was rather pleasant.

“What do you think?” Wi.ng asked, his optics turning to half moons as he sipped his own beverage.

“Good…. Different.” Treaded shoulders were shrugged. “Glad it don’t taste like pencil shavings!”

“I don’t imagine that being very pleasant. But to answer your question, dear, the glass is shaped like this to allow for proper oxygenation, therefore releasing its bold taste and aromas much better.”

“Ah… to be fully enjoyed.”

“You got it, baby.”

Just hearing his date call him such cute and endearing names caused his cheeks to warm. Slag, he was once known as such a terror on the battlefield, such a contender to go up against, and here he was getting all flustered over pet names. What has happened to him over the past few vorns?

Bra.wl shuttered. He knew what had happened but did not wish to dwell on past events. Namely the creeping grasp of death….

“Is something not to your liking?” Wi.ng’s glass was set down, optics full of concern. “Would you like another drink?” His helm turned, and servo raised, ready to hail down their server.

“No, no, the drink’s fine.” The grounder sucked in a deep breath, then exhaled. “Just… you know. What we’ve talked about before. Ah. The reoccurring thoughts…”

“You’ll be alright-“

“I know, I know… I just… ya know, don’t know why it popped up now…”

“What happened while combined as Brut.icus was traumatic, Bra.wl.” W.ing reached his servo across the table, silently beckoning the other’s hand. “Feeling the life force being sucked out of you and your comrades must have been an ordeal.”

The tank carefully reached his hand out, gently placing it into the flier’s grasp. The touch was awkward and strange. Being all close and open was new, and the tenderness of this action felt scary, but only at first.

That servo gently held his hand in a gentle caress. Wi.ng’s other servo soon covered the top, gently brushing over his chubby digits. The touch alone was sweet enough to cause tingles through his frame, but something else pulsed through his plating: feelings of safety and protection soon swelled through his frame, banishing the anxious, bad thoughts plaguing his processor. Maybe the eng.ex was too strong?

“But that is over now.” The red and white mech cooed. “You are safe now, here with me. Ready to take a new journey in your life, right?”

“Yeah.” His own servo gently clasped back. “I suppose so.”

“I will guide you through this.” A soft smile appeared on the winged mech’s face. “Help you live your life to the fullest.”

This time, his rounded cheeks turned red. It’s amazing how having someone care about you makes you feel. True, his gest.alt cared, but it wasn’t the same. All five of them silently endured their miseries. The jet had no qualms talking with him, patiently waiting for him to be able to choke out the words and making sure to bring him back to reality.

That didn’t involve getting piss-ass drunk.

The servo gently patted the back of his hand. “Oh, our appetizers are here! Look how tasty they look!”

Two plates steaming with hot food were set down, and Bra.wl’s belly immediately grumbled in anticipation. He was hungry, and just seeing the food put him in the mood to devour. However, one dish contained a dozen colorful shells drowning in a seasoned liquid.

TL;DR: Mychael deadass wants to be MYchael, and it gets to a point where you're so wrapped up in the wholesome, you actively ignore the red flags. Also, there's butterflies and chickens. No, we don't forage those for food.

Where do I start with this?

I am so overwhelmed with how good this game is. Let's get into the general aesthetics of the game. When I tell you that it's so satisfyingly pretty, I don't think you really get it. The art style is so captivating like...I can't explain it, but you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it. It's something straight out of a children's storybook. It's so whimsical and so cozy and so...like look at this.

These are the woods that we get lost in. I understand that we were supposed to be nervous for our life in this frame, but look at the scenery! And if you think that looks pretty, just look at this man Mychael's HOUSE.

He really said that this could be us all day, everyday. He done made his house into a home. And don't get me started on his garden area.

Ugh, I could literally go on and on about how much I loved the art style in this game. I am literally obsessed. Enough about that though, let's get into the real deal: the game.

I'm really excited about the development of this game, so bear with me. I'm going to give as much detail without giving away the story because I NEED you to play this for yourself, and I don't want to take its charm away by telling you exactly what happened. Trust me, it's so worth it! Remember though: it's just a demo.

So, boom, this whole thing kicks off because we lost our cat.

Obviously, we have to go looking for our family, so we take off one day and pretty much raw-dog it in these woods, but we had a little bit of sense -- we brought a compass. It proves to be useless though because, tell me why, as soon as we get lost, it gets lost, too. Like lmao what?

It's no big deal though because this kind stranger comes along and takes care of us. This stranger's name is Mychael. Say "hey" to the bae, everybody.

All right, so we're chilling in his house, and he makes us some bomb food with some tea but...things get a little awkward at dinner. We basically find out that the spelling of Mychael's name isn't the only thing about him that's different -- it's actually him that's different, too. This is bae though, so, we just accept him for who he is because the man is so sweet ... then again, I'm not entirely sure if these are our own thoughts right now, but he does feel safe, and he isn't exactly treating us bad. Like, the man gave us his bed to sleep in while he just made camp on the floor. Talk about a gentleman.

So, the next day comes along, and he's pretty excited because, not only are we here to enjoy the next day with him, he has a surprise for us. Okay bet! We get ready in a, surprisingly, nice bathroom with some more than decent plumbing, enjoy some bomb food once again (courtesy of Mychael, thanks bae), and head on out. We see his garden and, oh my gosh, he has chickens!! Look at this cutie with his chicken.

But as cute as he is ... we still haven't found our cat. Unfortunately, we kind've had to remind him we had to go home because at the end of the day, he hasn't put a ring on it, we have a whole job, and yeah, gots to go. Of course, he's sad about this, and he's like "Well, let me just show you this one other thing, and I promise, I'll take you straight home!" Mychael is literally as wholesome as they come at this point -- how could one refuse? Then again, are we even able to refuse him...?

So, yeah, we go with him, and it is so worth it because where he took us was so magical! There are no words to describe the beauty of where he took us. I'm so tempted to show you guys, but I don't want to ruin more than I already have. I won't leave you hanging though! Just picture this clearing with all these butterflies and flowers and just the absolutely perfect amount of sunlight to set the whole "this place is amazing!" mood and just the right amount of shade to enjoy it all in. If you're picturing it correctly, that scenery should be on point, and you should feel an instant sense of calm and awe mixed into one.

Aside from that though, as nice as this was, we still had to get home. So, we remind him -- for, like, the third time -- "Hey, I really need to head out", because granted, the man knows this forest, but we still didn't want to run the risk of it getting dark and us walking around in it for however long it takes us to get back. Here's where it starts to get weird...

If it wasn't obvious, Mychael is laying down the rizz somewhat thick. He may not understand the concept of cosplay or family or even how it's "mama mia" and not "maummer mee-ya", but he knows how to woo a person! or at least manipulate them Like, he is putting in work to be MYchael, you feel me? So much so, he just brushes off that whole speech about us needing to go home, and instead, just tells us to relax. I don't know what it is about that man, but ooh, his voice. You just can't say "no" sometimes! So, we do. We relax, and frankly, feel kind've sleepy because we are so relaxed. Mychael seizes opportunity and starts showing off his musical skillz. Man's literally serenading -- well, more specifically lulling -- us, playing the most calmest of tunes on his little instrument. Everything just feels so nice, relaxing, and safe... oh shit!

We snap awake. We done fell asleep on this man, which is cute and all, but we have to get home neow! Mychael stops playing games finally, and for real, for real starts to take us home. Before we get too far though, we stop at a creek so we can freshen up. We catch a glimpse of Mychael in our reflection, and he catches a glimpse of us which makes him look at himself, and...the reaction was so heartbreaking yet so relateable.

You know how sometimes when you look in the mirror, all you see is your flaws, and it gives you (hopefully, only) a brief sense of ick? Well, his was past that. It was completely self-loathing in that look, and nu-uh, we do not support Mychael slander in this household! So, now it's our time to turn on the charm, and...we may have laid it too thick and too well because now he's blushing, we're blushing, and then he whispers something to himself, and now Mr. Righteous comes out.

Now, he's determined to try to find our cat (...lmao), but he's like "That means you've gotta stay for another day, though!" with this really intense look on his face. Once again -- and for like the fifth time now! The man is sweet, but he has a poor concept of "no means no" -- we're like "That's sweet, but I gots to go". Boom. We start feeling sick, real sick. Like, we had this weird feeling before while we had been hanging out with him, but now it's intense, and it literally takes us down. Mychael had to catch us or else we were gonna hit the ground. So, now, we don't have a choice. We had to go back with Mychael. We's in the thick of it now bois ... AND THEN THE DEMO ENDED!! AUGH!!

DEVESTATED. I. was. DEVESTATED. Lol it was getting so good! Like, you know how you know the demo is coming to the end, but you're hoping there's just a touch more afterwards? That's how I was feeling. It was getting so good, and I wanted to see more! Hell, it IS good, and I WANT to see more!

So far, so great! I'm really excited to see what Day 3 brings us! I understand that Mychael is toxic or whatever, but he's just lonely and a little weird looking. I can fix him!

Honestly speaking though, with how sweet he is, you genuinely don't even feel like he's "ugly" or "scary" looking anymore. His gentle personality and literal down-to-earth nature completely overtakes his looks. He honestly isn't even bad looking! He really is cute in that other-worldly, fantasy being kind of way. But if I saw him in real life, there's a good chance I probably would've freaked out and get the bad ending lol

But, no, seriously, this game is fantastic! This is such a fun experience so far, and the story is really captivating! Just a little tip from me, be sure that when you play through, you pay attention to those text color changes! It helps bring some understanding/context to the story as to what's going on/happening around you.

Fair warning, the "yandere" element isn't showing too much yet, but you can tell that it's just a pacing thing, of which I think is being executed just right! I guess you could consider this to be a slow burn type of story, but because it's so fitting, it doesn't feel like slow pacing at all. If you were planning to jump right into the psycho, crazy Mychael as soon as you were at home with him and made it aware you wanted to leave, it's going to seem slow, but if you don't mind the build up to the plot, even prefer it, this will be great to you. For me, the build up is doing the story justice as there's not really a dull moment. The pace that the dev is going is purposeful, and it's not just slow for the sake of being slow.

That being said, I think I'll end my raving here! Really anticipating what the developer is coming out with next, and I can't wait to see just how far Mychael is willing to go for the sake of companionship. If you're contemplating trying this game out, stop contemplating and just play it! It is so worth it, and you will find yourself just as excited as I am for the full release! Be sure to leave your comments on the dev's page if you feel like they're doing a good job, and you want to give them that extra reassurance. Of course, donations are always helpful to them as well!
